Synopsis: A plane crashes into the sea, stranding the pilot, co-pilot and a bunch of under-age kids on an isolated island. How will they survive?

Where it came from: I often have to travel for work. Across the country. Which involves flying.
I HATE flying.

I'm not phobic about it, but there's something about flying through the air in a vehicle that's heavier than my house that just doesn't quite make sense to me.

Anyway, so there I am while the flight attendant is going over the emergency procedures with the passengers. (Sidebar: What bright executive came up with those directions? If I'm at 30,000 feet and the plane suddenly starts to nosedive -- I don't WANT to survive. I'd be a vegetable. If we're lower and we go down, the odds are very unlikely I'll survive anyway -- and I do NOT want the last thing I see in this world to be my own ass...) She comes to the part about how our seat cushions can be used as a flotation device. I am NOT flying over water. It did get me to thinking about what would happen if I were to crash into the ocean, however...and thus, this story was born.
