 was unusual. I have been the magistrate here for years and have never seen the 
like. Lotus was the newest concubine of Win Chow, a wealthy merchant. A young beautiful
 girl of sixteen summers she had captivated her lover from the first time they met
. He had purchased her contract after only laying with her one night and had installed
 her in his household where she had been made welcome by both of his wives. Chow
 was a friend of mine and I was often a guest in his house. His first wife was a
 striking woman named Blossom while his second wife was a quiet plain woman with
 the name of Cherry. To most he seemed a cold man with no social skills but I know
 him to be a fine man and a good husband. He just hides this behind a mask for business

 Lotus quickly admitted the deed and I sentenced her to death. Because of the nature
 of her crime I chose to make her execution public and severe. \par}

 days later she was standing on the execution platform waiting for her just rewards

 of those rare women who no matter how old they are or what they have done retained
 the look of a young virgin. I knew she had worked in a house of prostitution although
 a high class one and had been a concubine for almost two years and I too lusted
 for her. She was a porcelain doll come to life. A face and body to arouse a dead
 man, small prefect breasts, slender waist, full hips. A small fine down covering

 the first few blows with courage. Each one left a finger width mark on the back
 of her shapely calves. My executioner is a very good one. Each mark was just touching
 the last as he worked his way up her body. Behind him he left darkening skin and
 swelling flesh. Her back was striped well before he returned to her legs. Blows
 to the tops of her feet left her almost unable to stand. She was crying and screaming
 with each cut now. When the tops of her thighs was reached two helpers pulled her
 legs apart and the blows fell on her slit. With the pain of her punishment now 
overwhelming her it was time to allow her a respite and she was offered watered 
wine. \par}

 wine took effect you could see her recover some before her death started once more
. Soon it was her perfect breasts that felt the blows. Then her lovely armpits and
 arms.  With both her front and back now well marked her sides were next. By now
 she had been under the rod for most of the morning and with the main damage done
 the executioner\u8217\'92s helpers took over. Her fine body was dark with the bruises
 and swelling from the unending beating. No longer did she cry out with a blow. 
She was just hanging quietly and twitching with each one. \par}

it seemed to be done. She was a blackened thing hanging before us that showed no
 signs of life. A signaled for her to be cut down and the execution to be completed
. Unworthy of the sword or the axe a bowstring was placed around her once lovely
 neck and spun tight until it sank out of sight into the flesh of her neck and was
 then tied off. The body was taken to the city dump and thrown with the rest of 
the garbage without  ceremony. She had paid for her attempt to elevate herself over
 the body of a fine woman, mother, and wife. \par}
