Richard and Peter took the goose and stuffing while Tom worked up the other delicious, like cured fish and flat bread. Conrad and Eddy spent the last few hours of the afternoon at Conrad's playing computer games. Edith came home early to find Richard and Peter stripped to their thongs making out in the living room. When she entered the kitchen she could smell the goose cooking. The boys were so busy they did not notice her presence. At first Edith was shocked, she had never thought much about male-male sex and even less about it between these two teens. Peter was first off the mark saying, "Hi, Edith, we were just warming up for you." The two boys approached her, two 17 year old sex machines, broad shoulders, narrow hips, erections straining against the black cotton of their "2 X ist" thongs. Taking the surprised women in their arms, Edith was unable to protest and the tingling between her legs was suddenly so strong she didn't want to anyway. "We have an early present for you," Richard said, as they lead her up the stairs. After dinner the Samples and Peter went their separate ways to join their families Tom, Edith, Richard and Eddy cleaned up and settled in the living room, to attack the mountain of gifts under the tree. Almost all of them were for Eddy. Edith had given up trying to tell Tom not to spend so much money on the boys and her. "Richard needs to get his stuff first," Tom announced, "he has 'miles to go before he sleeps and promises to keep'." (Robert Frost, in the poem Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening) Eddy played present distributor and Tom operated the camera. The First item was a long narrow rectangular box at least 4' in length and about 8" across. "Edith, how did you know I needed a new La Cross stick?" Eddy looked away trying to hide his face. "A little Chickadee told me." "Oh yes those little, noisy forest birds. Where did you find it, I have not seen any in the stores lately, the wrong season you know?" "I found it in the sporting goods department at our La Cross, Wisconsin store, I figured that must be an omen. The sales person told me it was Canadian made, I take it that equates to quality." (It does equate-to quality. La Cross is Canada's National Sport, hockey may be more popular but La Cross was declared such by Parliament in 1867. Want to know more: http://www.lacrosse.ca/handbook.asp or http://www.lacrosse.org/the_sport/international.phtml) The next box was very large and turned out to be box in box, 8 times. In the inner box were two envelopes a small one and a large one. In the larger, two other envelopes, one was a flight simulator on CD the other had three X's and personal, so Richard figured Garth did not want him to open it in public. The other envelope contained tickets to Amsterdam for spring brake. From Tom he received a leather outfit, black pants and red and black shirt. Eddy encouraged him to try on the outfit. Caught up in the moment, Richard pulled off his shirt and replaced it with the leather one, which fit exactly as intended. Perfectly across the shoulders and tight but not to tight around the chest and abdomen. It did look sexy. Richard stood up pulled off his jeans revealing his ample manhood and pulled on the leather pants which looked like he was pored into them. The back fitted the contours of his butt exactly and the front was pouched to accommodate his half hard shaft. Eddy and Edith were impressed and everyone was sensually touching the boy's body. Tom knew this was a real hit, so did Richard. From Edith several sweaters and pull over shirts, the kind of thing one gets from your mom. Lastly Eddy handed him a small package he had obviously wrapped himself. Richard opened the little box to reveal a small charm on a chain. Eddy had purchased three silver letters about 3/4 inch high E, R and A and soldered them together, running the purchased chain through the apex of the A. Con had helped him by getting the parts and showing Eddy how to silver solder. On one leg of the A he attached the E facing out and on the other the R. Both Tom and Edith had given him the money he needed. Richard was very touched, he asked Eddy to fasten the clasp. The charm lay perfectly in the opening of his leather shirt just below the neck. "Did you make this just for me, Eddy." Richard asked. Eddy nodded. "Than this is the only one in the world like it isn't it?" "I guess so." "This has got to be the best present I have ever received." "No, it is not very fancy and I didn't have much to spend..." "No little bro, it is the best because you made it, it comes with a part of you attached and that makes it extra special. Remember what Tom told you its not the gift but the thought that counts most. This says my little bro loves his big bro." Eddy climbed on Richard and they hugged and kissed. "Now Eddy before I go you got to open the gift I brought for you." Eddy went under the tree and found the package. Upon opening it his eyes were as wide as silver dollars. It was two carved and painted birds, a Gray Jay and a Chickadee. The Jay was looking down at the smaller bird who was looking up at the Jay. Eddy was absolutely thrilled. Richard did not carve or paint the birds, his uncle Rich had made it for him. "That's you and me he shouted." Kissing Richard again. Richard than departed for his mother's looking oh so sexy. Most of the remaining packages were for Eddy, all the usual stuff like clothing, toys, games, his own tickets to Amsterdam. "Tom I hope Garth didn't..." "No, he would not do that without asking you first." "And you?" "Me to, I think we should talk about it later." "You two are incorrigible, but I appreciate the thoughts, at the very least." "This is for you Mom," Eddy said holding up another small box. Edith opened it to find a small charm, this one manufactured, of Tinker Bell, small diamonds set in yellow gold. "Oh, Eddy it is so beautiful..." "I got it at Disney World," he matter of faculty stated. "But how did you afford this, I must have cost all your spending money and then some?" She looked at Tom for some kind of explanation. Tom had no idea and just shrugged. "Well dad gave each of us kids fifty dollars "Mad Money" and you gave me some before I left and Richard gave me some so I had enough, I got Grandma Anderson to help me buy it." Edith was overwhelmed she had always loved Tinker Bell, Eddy knew that so when he saw the little pendent he just had to get it for her. She also realized he sacrificed most of the trinkets a little boy would want to get it for her. "Mad Money?" "Yes, I sent the kids each a fifty in the form of a puzzle they figured it out, remember. If you really want to know, ask my mother if she topped up for him, although you may not get a straight answer." Edith knew she would not get a straight answer from Tom's parent's; after all, Eddy was their new grandchild and Tom didn't learn to spoil kids in a vacuum or from his text books. Eddy had made a wooden pencil holder for Tom's desk which he was thrilled with. Eddy had turned it on the lathe in the wood shop at camp and spent god knows how many hours sanding and polishing it. Edith had purchased a sweater made by west coast natives in Canada for Tom, which he was most appreciative of. Tom, had not quite known what to get for Edith. Given her new work assignments and part time student status, he thought a PDA would be in order. Edith thought it was to expensive and gave Tom a big kiss to thank him. That kiss gave Eddy renewed hope of his dream. Maybe Tom and Garth could some how accommodate Edith in their relationship, he wondered. He now knew that she was willing to share her bed with both Richard and Peter at the same time, well why not Tom and Garth? Eddy had learned some important lessons from Grandfather, the most important one being, when to keep his mouth shut. Edith and Tom were beginning to feel a bit more comfortable in the shared role of parenthood. Neither had any real experience with a roommate of the opposite sex. Sex yes, but living and sharing with the opposite sex, well that was beyond the experience of each. It was getting late as the three sat watching some high brow classical performance of Handle on TV. Eddy in the middle he soon fell asleep with his head on mom's lap. Tom picked the boy up and carried him to his room. As soon as they entered Eddy began kissing Tom in the most passionate way. "Not now little one, no sex now," as Tom returned his kisses. Edith had everything just about put away and the dishwasher started when he came down. "Can I help?" "No, I have it just about finished. Would you like some coffee or a drink?" "Yes but if I don't get to my bed soon I will be like Eddy falling asleep and I'm just a bit to big for you to cary." They both laughed and Tom gathered up his sweater and pencil holder and kissing Edith on the cheek departed. "Hum, she thought, I think he kind of likes me, and I know I kind of like him." She meant more than as a friend, for they were already friends and had been for some time. No, she could feel a tingling between her legs and her breast nipples were hard, pressing against her bra. Not, the kind of raw passion and lust experienced earlier that day but a passion and lust of some other kind seemed to be starting. Tom too felt it, he had felt it before but tried to tell himself it was just lust and he was not interested in women, just Garth, and Eddy and Richard and Conrad and well boys. Tom woke up with a start. He listened intensely all he could hear was the high pitched cry of the Chick- a -dee, dee, dee.... He pulled on a robe and looked out the window. there was Eddy up and out in the yard. There were six chickadees flying around him. Eddy held out his hand full of sunflower seeds. The birds began landing on it, picking up a seed and taking off, making space for the next bird. Tom watched this for a short time. He had never seen anything quite like it before. Sure he had gotten wild chickadees to take a bit of bread from his hand in the woods but never six of them. Eddy was laughing and excited and his new friends were singing and chirping. Wow he thought. Wow! He called Edith, "look out the window, quick." She looked and mom was just as amazed as dad. Tom got the video camera and began recording. "Well little spirit eyes how did you get those birds to come to your hand like that?" "Easy I just held out my hand with seeds on it and told them I was a friend, they just started to come. Did you see the one sitting on my head? Is that special or something? Should I tell grandfather about it?" "Well yes it is special and yes you should tell grandfather next time you see him." Tom made sure the feeders were full before they departed for Middletown. It was one of those, bright cold winter days, with little wind. The 300M loves the clear open road and Tom loves to drive under these conditions. Fine music on the system, good company and little traffic. This was one of those TV type family settings, Children playing nicely together, women in the kitchen, men sipping a brandy in the living room. The Andersen's were visiting and the only absence was Garth. Just before dinner Tom's lap top came to life as Garth summoned him to a video conference. The children had been given video phones by the grand parents and were busy e-mailing snaps to Garth. Tom began to think that maybe having a female life partner would not be all that bad, especially one as attractive as Edith. He banished that thought from his mind but getting in her pants, well that was completely different and something he was suddenly more than willing to consider. Edith was making lots of progress too. She was beginning to understand and feel comfortable around something called family and Tom was starting to look more physically attractive then he ever had or perhaps she was just beginning to notice. Everyone noticed the absence of the older boys and girls, their presence was missed by all, each for their own unarticulated reasons. That evening the parents dropped off the younger ones at the camp for the balance of the seasonal school brake. Tom and Edith rolled along the highway in the dark. Both adults wanted to articulate their feelings to the other, both were to shy or afraid of damaging the existing friendship to do so. Neither one looked forward to sleeping alone.
