 Chapter 8

Allison went up to her room and cried, a lot. The guilt over what she
was doing overtook her. That's when she decided to leave somewhere far, far
away, forgetting the fact we were the fathers of her babies. This was, in
her mind, the only way that she could get away from Shane, because although
she didn't love me, she didn't need to get away from me. Our relationship
was perfectly legal. Their relationship wasn't.

Just then, Shane went into her room to ask her something about their
baby and saw her packing her suitcase. "What's this? What are you doing?"

"I'm getting away from it all, Shane, this love triangle,
everything."

"Did you forget you're carrying my baby and therefore taking my child
away from me?"

"You said no one could know you were the father of this baby."

      "I thought we'd agreed..."

"Shane, I can't take this anymore, OK? I love you too much. We'd
agreed not to have sex and then everything would go as planned. We'd wait,
we'd get married, and we'd raise this baby together as Arnold's son until
the child were old enough to understand what was really going on. Then we
gave into our feelings and had sex again, and everything went to hell. I
just can't help myself when I'm with you."

"Do you think moving to another state and letting time pass will make
your feelings for me fade away, if they're as strong as you're saying they
are? You'll just come right back, if you love me and want me so much. I
know you're only seventeen, but come on, think. When one's younger, like
you, those feelings are more intense. You break up with that person, can't
handle it, and most times you kill yourself. I should know. My nephew
almost killed himself when his first girlfriend and first woman dumped
him."

      "Whoa..."

"Come on, Allison. We've only got one more year until we can be
together without this barrier in front of us."

      "It's not you, it's me. I know I'm sounding stupid, but it's true. I
just can't..." she started kissing him passionately, and then they threw
themselves on the bed, knocking the suitcase down. This time, he plunged
his cock into her aggressively, and she moved her waist to get him inside
of her just the same way. By the end of it all, they were so exhausted they
just collapsed.

Allison decided not to leave. Shane was right. It would be useless if
she loved him as much as she said she did because she'd be right back here
in a matter of months. It was not just lust now, like she thought. This was
pure love, and it scared her. She was afraid she wouldn't love someone like
this again.

She turned on the radio and tuned into some local radio
station. Christina Aguilera's song, "Your Body" was in the second
verse. Not knowing what else to do, she just blasted it and plopped back
into her bed. Listening to a sexy song, feeling the way she was feeling
would only make her cry, so she just listened to this one.

Allison called me after listening to her favorite radio station for a
half an hour.

I picked up the phone. "Hey, Allie."

"Hey. Something weird is going on. I think my parents know about me
and Shane because they just let him come in here like nothing."

"Maybe they think he's just your coach."

"No, I'm telling you, something weird is going on."

"It was only a matter of time until they'd find out, Allie."

Allison's father, Maurice, knocked on the door. I heard him on the
background saying, "Allie, honey, may I talk to you for a second?"

"Come on in, Dad." Allison said to me, "I have to go, Arnold. I'll
call you later." She hung up.

Maurice went in. "Darling, we have to talk to you. It's about your
former coach."

      "Yes, Dad?"

"We know what's going on. He told us he was the father of one of your
babies. We told him he had nothing to worry about because, you don't know
this, but when your mother and I met, I was the adult and she was the
minor. We didn't want to tell you and we made you believe we got married
when she was twenty and I was twenty-five because we didn't want you to
think we were disgusting. Then story repeated itself."

"I'm so sorry I let you down, Dad. When all this started, I let my
hormones control me. I had no idea what I was doing. I was totally out of
control. I was watching boys pee in the bathroom, I was letting boys do
everything to me except intercourse, and I was even smoking and drinking. I
know what I did was wrong."

"It's OK. We agreed to give our consent for you guys to marry."

"Seriously? Why didn't he tell me?"

"I don't know, but we did. You're getting married in court. All you
have to do is set a date."

"He's letting ME set the date?"

Maurice nodded."You would've been emancipated anyway because you're
pregnant, and very far along, so..."

      * * * *

I don't know what happened to her, but she just took off running. She
was going crazy, and her children were under a lot of stress. Thank
goodness Shane Lambert happened to be around the area, at his best friend,
Lonnie's house. Lonnie went out to get his mail and saw a pregnant woman
running. He called out to her. "Hey!" he said. "Hey!" he then yelled when
he figured she wasn't really listening.

      She stopped and looked around.

      Lonnie said, "Over here! Hey!"

She followed the voice, acknowledged him and walked up to him,
finally realizing what she'd just done. "Oh, my God, what am I doing around
here? I never walk around the neighborhood in the afternoons."

"You weren't walking. You were running."

      "I was running? Why?"

"I don't know. Hey, aren't you Allison, Shane's baby mama?"

"Yes," she said, smiling, "yes, I am, his proud baby mama," she said,
rubbing her belly. "I can't believe I put mine and my baby's lives in
jeopardy like that." She was ashamed to say to the world she was carrying
the babies of two different men.

Lonnie went inside to get Shane.

Shane ran out to Allison, screaming, "Oh, my God, baby, what the hell
are you doing?" and wrapped his arms around her. "Oh, my, you need to go to
the hospital to make sure your babies are okay, baby."

"I don't know what happened. I just snapped."

"I'm going to take you to the hospital, OK? That way we can find out
if those babies are boys, girls, or boy and girl."

      * * * *

We arrived at the hospital shortly after and got out of the car. A
doctor saw Allison and he was relieved that despite the stress the babies
had suffered, there were no major complications and everything was okay,
but Allison needed to take really-good care of herself from now on. She
couldn't run anymore, and in order not to jeopardize the babies' health,
from now on, she would only walk from the bathroom back to her room, and
for limited times around the house. The doctor told them the news we were
all waiting for. Allison was having a boy and a girl. The girl was mine and
the boy was Shane's. Shane and Allison were overjoyed. They hugged and
cried out of happiness in each other's arms.
