			   Backstreet Boys Magic
				  Part 1
			   By Grayson S. Vellar

I was in the middle of my last sound checks for the concert when the
announcement came down from management. I could not believe my ears
Jonathan Parker our Audience warm up guy had fallen off his horse at his
ranch and died instantly from a broken neck. I almost cried immediately as
I stood on the stage and tried to remain calm. His life cut short as mine
had just started to get to know him. I was heart broken as I fought the
tears that were trying to fall. But, I had my work to do as the crews
continued to run cables and hook up to the main boards. I was the one next
to test the system as all listened to my 1,2,3's and various other vowel
sounds. Of course the Microphones had to be cordless and corded so I had a
variety of sets to go though for the next half-hour or so.

There I stood when none other than Kevin Richards tapped me on the
shoulder. He stood silent as I continued my next series of microphone
checks. As I finished with number three of their first 5-part set, Kevin,
set down on the edge of the stage. We were now alone except for Jim in the
sound booth, so I did it. I walked over and sat down next to Kevin trying
not to sit too close, as we hardly knew each other. I mean sure I knew him
as I knew all the other Backstreet Boys. But, that was only because I had
been there for the past 2 years doing my job and setting them up as I
always did.

"You Ok Kevin, if you want to talk I am here you know that right? " I said
as I sat patiently awaiting a response.

"I know I was just making sure you are ok. I will be fine but you are well
the kind of guy to be hurting and not tell anyone. " Kevin said as he
looked directly at me and I quickly averted my eyes from his gaze.

"I am? I thought I was a cold-hearted person? " I laughed out as a tear
escaped my eye.

"I know your not though. As a matter of fact, I know a lot about you that
is now only known between you and me. " He said and gave me a slight wink.

"I have to get back to work here but could we talk latter. " I was
stumbling to get up, only to find a pair of feet directly behind me, and
hands pushing me back down.

"You haven't asked him yet have you Kevin? " I hear Brian say as I set now
looking into the old Orchestra pit bellow.

"No I am working my way up to that. What is everyone so impatient about? "
Kevin said, as Brian turned and walked away.

"I hope he didn't hear all that? " I heard myself say.

"It looks completely innocent we are about the same age we could be two
friends having a conversation about what I am going to ask you. Like I
said, your secrets are as safe as mine are with you I hope. I have no idea
what he shared as far as information with you. Personal information But
as long as I have no worries you don't either. So, what I am supposed to
ask you" I interrupted him.

"What information do you have over me? What do I have to do? I have no idea
what you are talking about and I have nothing to tell about you. " I was
crying now and had no idea why this was happening to me as I tried to get
up again only to find feet again behind me.

"God, Kevin we send you out here and all you did is harass this poor guy
about his being gay. I can't believe you? I " Brian said, as Kevin
interrupted him.

"No! You don't understand I am asking him not to tell anyone about my
secret too. " Kevin stated as Brian sat down next to me silently putting
his arm around my shoulder as I sobbed.

"Kevin are you gay? " Brian asked.

"Yes" He sighed.

"Then there is no worries now is there. So, stop trying to" I
interrupted Brian this time.

"Your secret is safe with me. I am over reacting her I am sorry. " I got up
and began to check the next cordless as Kevin and Brian each did the same
with the remaining Microphones.

"You two should not be out here yet the crowd is going to be coming in the
amphitheater soon. You should go rest or something." I said not looking at
them as they continued on.

"Well, you should get rested as much as we should since you are going on
first. Besides we can't just let you do this alone we never have before. "
Kevin said, as Brian remained diligent in his testing.

"What! " I said directly into the Microphone that was on in front of me.

"You are going on first I am supposed to ask you but I have no more
time. So, you should get ready to go on. I am not joking you really should
get ready besides the band we hired for you will be here soon. You have to
warm them up and get ready. " Kevin said as he shut my Microphone off and
handed it back to Brian.

I was shocked and had no idea what to say here. " Um, aha, what? How? "

"Kevin I am not joke"

"You need to relax first dude." Brian interrupted him.

"Brian I can handle this and the sound is fine in here. Go check and see if
any of the other guys needs anything? I think we need to talk alone." Kevin
said as he rushed Brian off the stage. I stood in silence as he motioned me
to sit down on a nearby stool.

"I have heard you when you think we are not here you practice and no one is
supposed to know about it. It's Ok and BTW stop acting like you have
something to say. You have no choice here we need you and you are here and
the band will be soon. If only you had a tape to work from that would help
more. God, if only Jonathan was here he could get you to do it. Hey here's
an idea since he is the one who gave you confidence to do it in the first
place dedicate tonight to him. I know all about you, you've been with us
for two years I should know you by now you can do this. I personally am
trying to get to know you, let me know you Scott. " Kevin reached over to
take my hand.

"I don't know what to say Kevin. It's not that I don't' want to I am not
prepared all I ever sing out here is your stuff. My stuff is old and
unusable but I do have tapes. If only we had time to doctor them up some
what. " I said, as I now found the strength to look into his eyes. He was
smiling and staring into mine as I started to lean forwards as if being
pulled in. He started to do the same as he quickly stood and walked about
three feet away from me.

"We could get the guys to do it for you. Then there are the production guys
and the dancing you already do. It could work. You know how to dance god
only knows you have watched us do it for so long. " He grinned as I
blushed.

"Besides all that we already have something in mind of yours to record. I
know you will recognize it but we already re-mixed it and kind of had
an idea to start the show with you singing it and us backing you up and
joining in. How does that sound? " Nick said as he came out onto the stage.

"What song, How did you get the tape?" I asked quickly turning to stare at
the youngest member of the boys.

"We have had it for a while it's called Magic." Kevin said as my jaw almost
dropped.

"Kevin I don't think that is a good idea I wrote that for an um" I said
as he suddenly looked extremely saddened. " A uh"

"Ex-girlfriend I guess." He finished my statement knowing the truth that
lay behind it.

"Don't you mean Boyfriend?" Nick asked as he grinned and giggled.

"Yes" I said as I looked down again.

"Just listen to it and tell us if you like it if you don't we wont do
it. But you have to decide quick because, we have so little time." Kevin
said as he looked at his watch in anticipation.

"I will listen to it but I am not making any promises." I said, as they
both immediately perked back up.

Jon the Manager for the Boy's came onto the stage and joined us as I looked
into Kevin's eyes for comfort to my newfound friends.

"Is everything set up now or do we have to start the show with you guys at
the beginning and stretch out the middle?" Jon asked Kevin as he stopped
right next to me.

"He will do it but we have to hurry. I think he is going to be really busy
for the next hour or so." Kevin answered.

"Well, to be quite honest he only has a hour and a half then he has to take
a spot on stage for the opening. The crowd is already lining up out
there. I hope we can pull this off. You should be all right though since
you are the opening act anyway. " He laughed as he walked off the stage.

"I am going to be better than all right you little" I mumbled as he was
out of earshot.

"You better be all right I want to talk to you tonight after the show now
we have to get moving here. You have to get clothes and get made up it is
going to be really quick around here for you so be prepared. Hey Nick is
the band here? "

"No Kevin they haven't showed up." Nick answered as he headed off stage.

"Ok lets get started then." We headed off stage only to be greeted by the
other guys who all reached out their hands as I went to shake them. I
continued to follow Kevin as the other watched.

We entered his Dressing room as he quickly found me some clothes to wear. I
was so busy rushing I had forgotten my shyness, as I removed my clothes and
put the new ones on while he watched. His taste in my clothes was
magnificent as I looked on in amazement in the mirror. He just smiled the
whole time as we exited the room into the hallway out side. The guys
applauded me with grinning faces and cheered as I ran to the make-up
area. I could also hear mumbled whispers about Kevin as I passed by. I had
wanted to stop as I only turned around once and saw them patting him on the
back as he blushed running after me.

"Ok here you will listen to the song as Isabel works on you face. You will
have a lot going on from here on out and Jody here will take care of the
rest. We are not going to make to many changes to your tapes just mix them
up a little to make them more upbeat. I have to start getting ready
myself." Kevin said as he leaned in and kissed my cheek.

"Wait you have to get my tapes first. " I said as he leaned over and looked
into my eyes.

"That has already been taken care of I will explain it later right now
concentrate on relaxing and listening. " He grinned as he again kissed me
and half-jogged half-ran out of the room.

Isabel hit the switch on the tape player as I set still and let her work
her magic. I listened as they had very well re-mixed Magic into a new song
that I wanted so badly to sing, but could not find the right reason to. I
had made a promise to myself never to sing that song again. I had written
it for my x-lover that had died in a car accident after hearing it. I had
dedicated it to his memory and now I was to remember in front of 50,000
people not to mention the entire amphitheater full of video camera's going
off all the while I stood center stage and sang. It was too much for my
heart to consider so quickly/. Then Kevin headed straight into my mind as I
listened intently to the song.

'The Magic in your eyes the magic in your touch. May this magic never
die...'

I was thinking the lyrics into their places as I listened to the music and
suddenly had the right idea again. I loved Jack but this song had to be
heard. I was not going to tell the guys until the last possible second
though. I also had to do something else.

"I need the Choreographer here now! " Shouted as Jody ran out of the room.

I sat in silence as Isabel finished and I opened my eyes to one very good
looking male sitting in the chair except for the fact that I was so
discolored.

"Isabel the color is so dark?" I said to her as she looked on for a final
check.

"It has to be Scott, because of the lights. I really like that songs are
you going to do it? "

"I want to but I don't know yet." I wanted it to be a secret and her
knowing would make it impossible to hide.

"Where is that woman at? I need to know what I should do here? " I said as
Kevin walked back in the room looking ever so stunning ready to be made up
by Isabel.

"Are you going to do it?" He asked cheerfully.

"Kevin I like it but, I can't it is still a memory I can not deal with
yet. " I said, trying not to smile, as I knew inside I would do it for him
alone. " Besides it has no jazz to it, it's all dance now."

"Oh, well you add that when you sing it you should know that. I really wish
we could do it. " He smiled and sat down across from me as I stared into
those eyes. I suddenly had to contain myself, as I knew I could not say no
if I continued on looking in.

"Fatima is not here she won't be tonight!" Jody said as he came back into
the room.

"Why did you need her for Scott? " He asked as I sat there contemplating
the answer.

"Ok you explain your moves in Magic while I listen I have to hear the rest
of my music but I know it better than anyone they can't hardly change it
that much. It will be fine I wrote them to be flexible like that." I said
as I sat there now looking into his eyes.

"So, you will do it? " He said excitedly.

"Yes! But don't tell the guys yet I wanted it to be a surprise for all of
you tonight."

"Ok Jody get the tape back up to the both they will need it. If anyone asks
just tell him or her it is for Scott and it has something to do with,
Summer-rain. " He said with a sly grin.

"What are you grinning at I have so much to learn and so little time. You
have to teach me the moves or I won't be able to do it at all. " Just as I
said it Fatima came into the room.

"Did you need me? " She asked as she starred at my cod fish face.

"You lied to me? " I asked, Kevin.

"I had no idea she was here."

"He didn't so what do you need? " I felt betrayed in so way but wasn't sure
what to think.

"Well Fatima, we only have a hour left I think and I have to have the
general moves for my music as well as Magic. " I said, as she sat down in a
chair behind Kevin.

"Ok Baby, but you have to work hard or this is not going to work at
all. When the hell did this all get approved? We need to get started." She
asked as Kevin stood up and whispered in her ear.

"Oh, I see. Then we certainly better get busy." She said, with sadness in
her eyes.

I was suddenly flattered that Kevin was thinking of my feelings about
Jonathan, I knew doing Magic was right now. We started to leave the room
Fatima first as I leaned in and Kissed Kevin quickly on the lips. Isabel
blushed as she turned just in time to see it happen. The others where now
heading in as I was on my way out.

"Scott, you better hurry up I think Fatima started without you." I heard
Howie say as I headed behind the second row of curtains.

We worked diligently for the next twenty minutes on just Magic hoping not
to be heard, as I explained to Fatima the song the meaning and the
surprise. She worked me even harder knowing this was my big moment to thank
Jack, Jonathan, and Kevin for their all. We finally got my tapes back in
time for me to wing a quick rehearsal. I was amazed at this woman's spirit
she could push hard but I was sure it would go well as I finished up the
last moves.

"That's some good music there. Did you write it all? " She asked as she
handed me a bottle of water to cool down with.

"Well, actually Jack wrote the lyrics but I wrote the Music. We had an
interesting way of working together. I had to" Kevin interrupted us as
my eyes drifted up to him.

"You only have 15 minutes maybe you should go and relax. You can use my
dressing room if you want to. " He said as I was still caught in the tide
of his eyes.

"Baby he is fine. Let him be until after the show. " Fatima said as I
stood.

"No, actually I should take a few minutes to myself. His dressing room it
the most logical place for me since we are friends." I said as I began to
walk away.

"Scott, he has got more than friendship on his brain right now." Fatima
said as I gave Kevin a questioning glance. He was smiling as we headed to
his room.

"I do to Fatima I do to." I said, as she chuckled from where she was
sitting.

"You do? " He said as we entered his private chamber.

"Yes, but that is for later. You only get this from me right now." I kissed
him on his putting lips as he stood silently receiving my gift to him.

"You know I could get used to this." He said, as we both sat down on a
couch.

"I was hoping you would say that. By the way do the guys know about this
yet? " I said not taking my eyes off of him.

"Actually they wondered why it has not happened before now. Me liking you,
has always been a subject but you liking me had never happened until
today. No one had any idea you would be interested." He said still gazing
into my soul.

"And you have succeeded to piss them off as well because you won't do the
song. But they will get over it." He laughed a deep throaty laughter as I
was giggling to myself.

"So, at least I know for now you can keep a secret. So, can I BTW and you
might want to pay special attention to the beginning of magic you will like
what I did to it." I grinned, as he looked on confused.

"What have you done to it. I thought it was perfect Stevie and Mark
re-mixed it to be perfect? I guess you know what is best for it, but it was
all set up. " He said as he leaned back on the couch.

"I have done not one thing to the music just pay attention to it so you can
do it yourself latter. " Just then a knocking came to the door

"Come in!" He shouted as the guys one by one marched into the room already
dressed and waiting for me to start.

"Hey guys we were all wondering when you were going to start you're already
like 5 minutes late getting out there." Howie D. said as the others trailed
in behind him.

"Really! Oh my god, I better get out there." As I stood to leave Kevin
placed his hand on my shoulder and pulled me back down to the couch.

"Wait. Before you go out there, we have a little something for you." Kevin
said as he slid off the couch and squatted down in front of the guys.

"Ready?" I nodded my." The Magic in your eyes is all I want from you..." He
was singing Magic to me as I teared up and the guys followed his lead. I
stood up and pulled him to his feet.

"Kevin Richards you are the magic in my eyes. I will never forget all the
stuff you guys are putting me through tonight and you will not forget it
either after what I am about to say to you... Magic will go on tonight and
until now it didn't have all the meaning behind it that I will put into
it. You guys will join me right?" I said, as the only person not reacting
overjoyed was Kevin Brian quickly took note of the situation.

"You already knew didn't you? You bastard! When were you going to let us
know." Brian looked at us as Kevin now was standing next to me and the
others grinned from ear to ear.

"I was thinking just as our cue was announced for us to take our places."
Kevin said as he put his arm around my shoulder. I looked at him quickly as
Brian was still looking slightly pissed.

"I have to get going guys can you give us a second; before I go on." I
said, as I motioned Brian and the guys out of the room. Kevin tried to
remove his arm as I placed my hand on his, holding it there. I turned to
face him.

"You know I have waited to do this for a long time but I always thought you
would be the one going to the stage not me." I leaned in to kiss him. Our
lips met with a gentle flame building in my soul as our tongues entertained
and explored each other's mouths.

A knocking at the door broke our passionate moment as I quickly realized
there was now a problem; I had a hard-on the size of a baseball
bat. Quickly I looked to Kevin who blushed Red enough for both of us. He
ran to the closet and pulled out what appeared to be a black leather trench
coat.

"I can't wear that. I'll burn up. I have to dance out there. Oh, god what
have I done? " I said as I sat back down. The door to the dressing room
opened as I sat there looking distraught. Jon moved over to the arm of the
couch next to me and sat down as quickly as he came in. I could see the
other guys standing out side the door still. I looked out from Kevin, who
was grinning to the guys then to Jon.

"Ok, here goes nothing." I said as the jacket swung back and forth as I
walked out and I grabbed a quick glance back at Kevin. He was looking as if
he was so happy for me he was tearing up.

The crowd was a roaring already as I entered the eves of the stage. Several
stagehands stood at the edge of the curtain line as I approached the
entrance. Jim stood close by holding a head set for me. I had dreamed about
do this for so long it seemed natural to me to put it on. Slowly I wrapped
the cord behind my back where Jim strapped the box to my waist below my
coat. He grimaced as he felt the weight of it hanging there. I stood there
momentarily as I noticed at the other end of the stage the guys had showed
up to see my entrance. I waved half heartedly as Kevin did the same and the
other guys joined in. I smiled broadly and looked to Jim he did the same
and gave me a little push from behind.

The bright lights and low roar that came over the crowd surprised me until
I noticed in the monitors that I looked like Kevin walking out there. I
looked off to the north entrance to see the guys shouting with the crowd I
almost lost it when I saw Howie jumped up and down hitting Nick on the
head. Kevin grinned big and I returned it back. I felt my hard on subside
as I worked my way forwards unable to see the crowd as I approached the
lights blurred all my sight past the end of the stage. I quickly pulled at
the jacket and threw it open to the crowds screams. I had made it all the
way forwards as the first song kicked in to full swing and the music roared
through my head my music was playing.

I sang the first two songs and realized the jacket was too heavy and I
would be fine without it as the backstage suddenly came to life and a
screen dropped for showing the video materials. I had assumed until moments
latter that it was for the guy's part of the show. As the jacket dropped
from my shoulders I slipped completely out of it when the girls in the
front rows began to scream. I threw the jacket over a stool. Grabbed at my
headset and straightened it as the crowd continued to go crazy. I held my
breath internally for a second or two before my next song started and two
dancers came out together as I sang of love and romance like these people
had never heard. Cheers came across the crowd as I continued. I had been
out there for what seemed like forever when I realized that I was in the
home stretch. The screen had been flashing images of me mostly from my
scrap books of myself in various poses mixed in with everything from
flowers, lights, and scenery; to just flashes of lights.

I was in the middle of Summer-rain before I realized they had started
showing shots of lightning and rain pouring over the video screen. I raised
my hand up to the sky as I entered my next set of lyrics into my
microphone. Rain actually began to pour from the sprinklers above nothing
inside my curtain of water got wet as the crowd continued to scream. It was
like magic as I sang my last line I had succeeded in making it through this
night. I was almost finished as the lights went black. The Screen flashed
the remaining part of a storm as I slowly moved off the stage and a
spotlight hit the stage directly on the jacket still lying over the single
stool. The crowd roared I was amazed Kevin kissed me quickly as I exited
the stage. Smoke machines filled the stage as I stood just out of sight.

"Your not done you know that right." He said as I knodded my head. He
wrapped his arms round my waist as I drank my bottled water quickly and
began to realize the screaming had not let up. I leaned around the edge of
the curtain as someone yelled.

"Scott Come Baaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!" Of course to my dismay it was only Howie
D standing behind the tear away curtain behind the stage they were to enter
through.

"You have two minutes or less depending on how long it takes you." Fatima
yelled to me before dragging me to a dressing room just off stage.

"Ok I'm ready." I said, less than two minutes later as everyone was trying
to figure out what I was up too. I looked up to the sky as if I was looking
to god. Kevin patted me on the back as I walked back out on the stage I
raised my Middle and index fingers to my lips sending a hush across the
crowd. I knew it would only last seconds so put on the jacket as I spoke
fast.

"Thank you ever so much. This has been a great evening but it is only
getting started. I have one more song for you then I am out of here. So, I
must say again thank you for all your enthusiasm you are the best" With
that the lights dropped as I stood center stage in pitch blackness then the
curtain behind me light up with a flash of light and the shadows fell. The
single spot came on as I was engulfed in light from all sides. Then they
all went out again. The heavy dance beat began.

"Magic..." I whispered into the Mic as the crowd died down in tone but not
enthusiasm as they repeated my words.

The light shifted around the stage spinning around me as I stood limp and
sang my next line.

"The Magic in your eyes..." I felt myself being lifted on cue as the crowd
roared I raised my fingers to my lips again. This time they would not hush
as I floated above the stage.

"The magic in your touch." I floated out over the orchestra pit slightly as
I mockingly reached out to the crowd. The beat stirred the crowd as it
picked up and the pace was set. I floated over the stage again almost to
the center. I could see Kevin and the guys crowding the curtain to see what
I was doing as my next line set me down to the stage.

"May this magic never die..." I stood calmly and turned to look at the
crowd as the lights went out and then it happened the curtain behind me was
lighted up and the guys began to move behind it and sing the line I had
just let out. The lights flashed again and then the curtain was torn wide
open as they entered the stage. Kevin and the guys stood on either side of
me, as the crowd was so loud I could not hear the music anymore. Lightning
flashes went off above us, as I stood completely amazed as the lines from
the song hit the air. The guys each took sections of the audience to show
their attentions too as I headed for the middle front stage. I took the
line again.

"The Magic in your eyes the magic in your touch. May this magic never
die..." I hit the highest notes at the end dragging them out hushing
the girls who stared into my prying eyes and I could see them.

I quickly retreated to middle stage as we began to dance in sequence. Brian
on one side Nick on the other I was shocked, as I missed not one step. The
guys all continued to sing as I backed up and exited the stage at the end
of the song. By then Fatima and Jon were ready to greet me as I exited.

"You did great baby. Now lets get you out of that harness. You don't dance
in this thing as well as having it off. I have to show you the steps for
Everybody." She said as Jon and she ushered me off to a dressing room.

"I have never seen anything like that before Scott. You brought them to
life with everything you did. I am sure it also helps you had all the
support. But my god how did you do that last bit. I was amazed." Jon said,
as I smacked him in the shoulder Fatima gingerly unbuttoned my shirt to
expose the harness to him. It was completely metal and held my chest and
waist very tightly, as I stood motionless as she unbuckled the straps.

"You see Jon reverse polarity is a good thing but until it was tested
recently it had not been used at all. I am so lucky I was not like the test
cases. I programmed the unit above to read me like a sought after device,
kind of like a heat seeker that was why we included all the rain. The next
time we use it I hope we get someone that understands the words not over
the orchestra pit. God I could have killed Jim what was he thinking?" I
said as I stepped completely out of the unit. My skin suddenly became cold
as I buttoned the shirt back up.

"Ok pay attention now all the moved you did tonight have names; do you
remember them?" Fatima asked me.

"Yes...I think I do."

"Ok well we only have what Jon an hour and 30 minutes to make this
good. And then you have to enter the stage from the back entrance through
the underground area. You are coming out of what looks like a grave."

"Ok kind of what the N' Sync guys did. Right?" I asked.

"Very good so you remember that part. Ok so here are your instructions." We
studied the moves, which were second nature to me since I had watched them
for two years and they were always the same. 20 minutes later we were
resting when Kevin barged into his dressing room to see me sitting there
still dressed in his clothes. I stood up grabbed his shoulder kissed him
vigorously. He grinned and grabbed a hat and walked out.

We quickly marched into the same are we practiced in earlier as Fatima
showed me the moved. I was invigorated to know I had paid so much attention
over the last two years I did the routine with no problem and we again went
to Kevin's dressing room to relax. After what seemed like hours Jon knocked
at the door. I was getting nervous already.

"You need to get ready now. By the way they have no idea that you are
coming out there." Jon said, as I walked out to the backstage area and
stretched my whole body.

"What if they don't want me up there with them?" I asked.

Within second I was in place and ready to go. My cue was as soon as the
light began to pour into the shield netting above me I was to begin pushing
out of the grave. Easy enough I thought as I waited for my cue and waited
and waited then all of the sudden I felt like it was coming time instead of
just pushing I jumped straight out of the grave shocking the crowd and
nearly knocking Nick over who was holding a pose next to the grave. He
quickly pushed me back into the grave and tried to hold me down as I
flailed out and made it past him. The crowd roared as the other guys turned
to watch. I grinned and sang the line.

"Everybody Backstreet's back..." We all formed up and did the routine as if
I had been part of it all along. Brian and Nick stood close by me as I
watched the rest of the group perform the crowd was crazy the night was
lightning fast and the group accepted my presence. I continued to back them
up and as the song was over once again headed off stage being followed by
the guys who had left the stage.

"Don't follow me get back out there." I said as they grabbed water and then
turned to head back onto stage. They all stopped I could hear the next set
of music start as they just stood there.

"Are you guys nuts get back out there." I pushed at Kevin's shoulder as he
stood his ground.

"What?" I asked, the music switched and the lights dropped again. The crowd
began to scream.

"We need to ask you to come out there with us. The crowd loves you." Nick
said, as I'll never break your heart started with its intro.

"The crowd loves you and.." Kevin spoke as Jon walked up behind us.

"Don't argue with them just go. You still work for them remember!" He said
as he pushed me out of the edge of the curtains. I made my way in the dark
to what I thought was the center of the stage. The guys were no where in
sight the stage was pitch black.

I could hear the cue from the music to start singing; the guy didn't
start. A single spot came on as the chorus started to play and I sang.

"I'll never break your heart. I'll never make you cry..." My soft voice
swooned as I moved forwards the guys joined me from behind one by one and
the crowd went crazy. The standing ovations were next as they went out then
introduced me again.

"Ladies and Gentlemen please give is up for our friend Scott Marks..." I
stood off stage staring out as Jon placed his hand on my shoulder I almost
cried as I heard the screaming for me: I was nervous once again. Howie
approached the entrance walking up to me and grabbed my jacket sleeve and
pulled me out I waved to the crowd as he pulled me to the center of the
stage.

"Thank you." I said into my headset.

"We would like to say good night and tell you have been the best audience."
Brian said, as Magic began to play only this time we did not sing we just
walk to the back of the stage covered in fog and disappeared to the crowds
sight.

"Wow." Was all I could say as I watched the fog disappear and as the lights
went out the curtain dropped.

"Is that all you can say?' A.J. Said, As he walked up to Jon standing
nearby and whispered into his ear.

"Yeah actually it is." I said, as I noticed the others quickly taking off
for a room down a long hallway.

As they headed off I returned to Kevin's dressing room to change clothes
and get back to life, as I knew it. I was not going to let this go to my
head as I replaced his clothes neatly folded in a pile on the couch. As I
exited the room no one was in sight I quickly returned to the couch inside
sat down and began to relax for the first time in hours. I realized quickly
that I had work to still do as I wrote a note for Kevin and left his
room. The guys were no where insight as I went to the stage and began to
pull cables as one of the crew came up to me and stopped me.

"Mr. Marks we can get this you should be out of sight the fans could come
up at any time." I stood there in silence thinking about his words and
continued to pull cables up. I just wanted the day to be finished.

"Scott what the hell are you doing out here?" I heard A.J. yelling from
behind me.

"My actual job. I thought you guys went to meet the fans or something get
back there before they miss you." I said not turning around. I heard
several people now approaching the stage again.

"You need to stop before we make you stop." It was Howie this time.

"Scott is everything alright you should have followed us." I was now
hearing Brian speak softly.

"I'm fine just go!" I shouted as I pulled a cable to hard and it let
completely go at the other end. I was thrown to the ground. I quickly stood
up and walked out for the North entrance to the stage.

"Scott...Wait!" I heard Kevin yelling, I was crying so hard I could not
stop.

"I'll be fine just go do your work. Let me be..I..will be.. Fine." I sobbed
as I ran into Jon on my way through the curtains. He stumbled back as I was
practically running when I had gotten to that point.

"Oh, no you don't. You're going to be fine. It's Ok whatever it is it's all
right." He said as Kevin took me in his arms.

"It's nothing. I'll be fine. Just let me get back to reality." I said as I
tried to pull away, but Kevin would have nothing of the sort. I wanted to
stay there but knew it would not be right as I attempted to pull away
again. He held me for what seemed like an eternity before I looked into his
eye. He had tears for me now.

"What about all those people waiting for you can't just ignore them you
better go. I will be fine..." I pleaded with him.

"Why don't you just come with me you have some people there who want to see
you." I heard him say but could not pull myself from his pools in his eyes.

"Ok but not alone. I don't think I can do this part Kevin." I said
realizing I was asking him to be with me.

"I won't leave you I will be there and so will everyone else. Hell I'm
surprised you didn't do this when you had to go on." He said, as he leaned
in and kissed my pouting lips.

"We better be careful. Don't want anyone other than the guys and us to know
about this." I said and reached up to touch his lips.

"Now you shouldn't have changed. Put the jacket on." He said as Jon handed
him the jacket I had used in the show.

As soon as I had it on we headed down the hallway to a room just out of
stage sight. We stopped out side the doorway as all the guys adjusted their
clothes. Kevin let go of my hand as we walked in to a room full of
people. Some reporters and a few fans. We sat down at a long table in front
of the crowd. I took note that it reminded me of a book signing.

"Nice to see all of you. Scott what was it like to perform with the
greatest all male group on stage." A woman asked as she held her note pad
and pen in her lap.

"Well...to be quite honest I am still getting used to that fact." I said as
Nick jumped in quickly.

"It was great!" he said as the other guys followed with either, yes, or
yah, or sure was.

"So, will you guys be touring together now that you have found such a spicy
mix to work with." She looked at me again.

"I sure hope so but nothing has been arranged as of yet." I said flatly as
Jon stepped up to a microphone.

"Scott is new to the music world he doesn't even have materials out for
mass consumption yet. But, we would like to extend our welcome for him to
stay with us on this tour." He looked over at me as he finished his
sentence. I almost lost it but instead I smiled and nodded to the woman.

"Scott can we get confirmation you will be joining them at this time?" She
persisted.

"Um I think I should look to my right and left before I answer that. Hold
on a second." I said as I did exactly that. Kevin grinned at me shaking his
head yes as did Brian sitting next to him. As I looked the other way I saw
Nick first whom just said yes silently. Howie was my next shot who did the
same as Nick. Then there was A.J. who just sat there and said. "Surprise!"

"Yes! I will be joining them on this tour." I confirmed as the guys patted
me on the back. Jon reached over and shook my hand as I sat and stared.

"There are some management and contractual issues to be settled. But I
think we can work this out." Jon said as he took a seat.

"Ok only two more questions. When you heard the news that Jonathan was
leaving this family of yours were you surprised?" She asked as I was in
shock, Kevin leaned in looked over at me quickly and began to speak.

"He did not give us much warning so we had little to no time to prepare. So
yes we were in shock." He said as he turned and began to whisper in my
ear. "Watch out she is going to ask three questions now."

"Ok I know I said 2 but it is actually 3 now. Scott when did you actually
get contacted to do this and why has no one ever heard of you before?" I
giggled inside trying to think of a colorful answer.

"Well to be quite honest 2 hours before the show I was asked to perform. I
know all the routines I have been planning my career for quite sometime. I
like to think I have made good choices and held back long enough. If there
were any complaints about my music I have not heard it." I said as Howie
jumped in.

"I thought it was great." Followed by some minor screams from the fans in
the room. I noticed at this point that there were about 55 people in the
room.

"Ok my last question then I will let you get to the fans. So, that was a
pretty spectacular performance of Magic out there. Did you all write it or
was it just one of the two factions here and when can we expect to see it
on the market?"

"That's two questions. Very good questions I might add. Nick spoke up.

"Right now we are not sure of a release date." I said then added. "But we
all hope soon."

"As for the writer well that was Scott here." Kevin said as he wrapped his
arm around me and slightly jogged me in my seat.

"Thank you guys. I just wanted to say I have seen nothing like this show
tonight. You did great I hope to see you again." She said as she sat back
down in here seat.

The fans were next as there were 40 or so of them standing behind a
roped-off area. I sat quietly as the group signed the autographs. As I was
sitting there a girl about 13 at most came over to me and asked me for my
autograph. I signed Hi to her with love, as Kevin leaned over my shoulder
watching. Several more came over to me now, and soon I was as bombarded as
the rest of the group. We finished up within an hour and headed out of the
room after taking pictures both for press and for fans.

"Ok now that we have all that out of the way. What's next?" I asked not
knowing what the response was going to be.

"Dinner and dancing?" Kevin said to me.

"You two do need to get out." Brian said.

"Yeah, but what about the rest of us?" Nick asked as the other glared at
him.

"You guys are welcome to join us. If you can handle the fire?" I said
looking at the 5 of them.

"So, is that how it's going to be?" A.J. Said with a laugh.

"Ok, everyone listen up we only have 20 minutes to get the hell out of
Dodge. So get changed and I have a contract for you to sign Scott. Get
moving guys." He said as he pulled me aside and the others went about
getting changed and getting their things together.

"Scott this is not your standard contract. But, since I am a manager I
would like to offer you my services by telling you this is a good deal. If
you sign it you could be as big as the Backstreet Boys but you have to work
hard and all your materials will be recorded completely new by the end of
the tour. We have three stops along the way for you to do this." He looked
at me as I read the first few lines.

"Ok Jon I will accept your services and advice. But, I really need someone
time to look this over I can not just sign it and hope I did the right
thing. It would be wrong for me not to be too cautious. I hope you
understand?" I said as he shook his head at me.

The guy finished up their packing as I waited on the stage staring out into
the empty seats.

Kevin was the first one out as I began to sing thinking I was alone.

"I'll paint my mood in shades of blue, paint my soul to be with you, I'll
sketch your lips in shaded tone Draw your mouth to my.

I'll draw your arms around my waist. Then all doubt I shall erase. I'll
paint the rain softly land on your wind blown hair...

I'll trace a hand to wipe your tears. A look to calm your fears. A
Silhouette of Dark and Light. While we hold each other oh so tight.

I'll paint the sun to warm your heart. Swearing that we'll never part
that's the colors of my love." I stopped singing as I could hear the guy
approaching I turned to see Kevin standing there staring at me. I could see
the other guys standing of stage.

"That is the fist time I have heard a guy do that song. It sounded
great. You should do more stuff like that." Kevin said as I walked back
towards him.

"I think I will let Celine have it. It is her voice I hear when I sing
it. I really mean it when I sing it though. I love her work; it inspires me
to write better lyrics. We all headed out the exit tunnel and made our way
out of the amphitheater. Nothing seemed to be going wrong until I noticed
all of us standing there with no idea where we were going so I handed Kevin
the keys to my Forerunner and we were off to where ever he decided to take
me.

"I was going to ask you if I could drive." He said as he grinned and placed
his hand on my thigh.

(To be continued)

Things to look forwards to: Scott gets initiated into the BSB family next
installment. But of course maybe some sex as well. If you have any comments
