The unexpected snowstorm came down heavily, like white sheets falling from
the sky. JD drove cautiously, grateful he was near his destination. He
had decided to treat himself for his birthday and go skiing in Vermont. He
had a thriving business as a financial and estate planner, and needed the
down time before returning to his busy schedule and last minute
preparations for his sister's wedding. The drive had been exhausting and
treacherous as a heavy snow fell heavier, causing almost whiteout
conditions. When he saw the sign indicating the Maple Leaf lodges
registration area, he let out a sigh of relief, until he saw the number of
cars parked haphazardly outside the main building of the resort.

He quickly made his way to the registration office and was dismayed to see
the mayhem that ensued at the front desk. He took his place on line behind
a well built blonde. He had a reservation, so he was not worried.

"What a mess.", the young man in front of him whispered, turning to face
JD.

JD's eyes widened with surprise when he realized he was looking into the
clear emerald eyes of Lance Bass. Lance smiled, realizing the slightly
older man recognized him. He extended his hand to the speechless man.

"I'm Lance. Lance Bass."

JD found his voice and squeaked out, "JD", and shook the hand offered to
him.

"JD, do you have a reservation."

JD nodded, still holding on to the warm hand.

"I don't. And it seems like rooms are going fast."

JD nodded again, cursing his vocal chords for not cooperating with him.

"Listen, I know this may sound presumptuous, but it looks like they are
running out of cabins, and the weather is getting really rough out there.
Could I ...could we bunk together until the storm blows over?" Lance
offered a sheepish smile. "If it's not too much of an inconvenience

'Speak', JD screamed internally. "Not at all. I rented a family cabin for
the extra space. So there's plenty of room", JD replied. He looked down
and realized he was still holding Lance's hand, and felt his face
flush. "You probably want this back", he offered, releasing the singer's
hand.

Lance smiled at him, and for moment, he saw something flash in those
amazing eyes. He shook that thought out of his head. The vacation was
also to be a trip of self discovery, but JD didn't want to jump the gun by
reading things that may or may not be there.

"Next on line with a reservation", the harried registration clerk shouted
over the crowd. JD stepped up and signed in. After securing his key, he
heard the clerk yell out that there were no more vacancies.

"Shall we?" JD offered, feeling a little of his confidence returning.

"After you", Lance beamed, grabbing his bags and following JD in his car.
"I'll follow you in my car. Thanks again for doing this."

"Not a problem", JD answered.

The two men followed the winding path past clusters of cabins, until they
reached the secluded cabin near the very end of the trail. Both men parked
and grabbed their bags. JD struggled with the key, while Lance returned to
his car to retrieve two boxes from the back of his car. When he returned,
JD had the door open and was quickly tossing the bags inside. Lance
carried the two flat square boxes carefully inside. JD caught the scent
and smiled.

"Pizza?"

"Um Hmm and beer. I made a stop before turning into the lodge. We won't
starve to death if the weather gets worst."

With that he smiled and disappeared out the door again. JD did an inward
dance for joy. Stuck in a secluded cabin with his favorite singer and
pizza and beer to boot. 'Life is good.' He smiled at that thought.

"Penny for your thoughts'"

The voice startled him and once again he found himself blushing. "Just
glad to be out of the storm", JD answered, feeling like a total dork.

The men settled into the cabin and took a look around. It was roomy with a
separate dinning room, Kitchen and living room area complete with fireplace
and large screen television. The went down the short corridor where two
doors stood opposite each other.

"I'll take which ever bedroom is the smallest", Lance offered.

"Deal", JD replied, swinging open the door on the right hand side.

To both of their surprise, the door led to an enormous bathroom with sunken
tub and shower. A tiled wall divided the commode from the shower and
another wall separated the basin from the rest of the bath.

"Maybe there two beds in the other room", JD said hopefully.

Lance threw open the other door to find a king size bed staring back at
him. JD peeked over the singers shoulder.

"Or maybe not."

Both men laughed, JD a bit nervously and returned to the living room.

"The couch looks comfy enough", Lance assured. "I'll be fine. It's just
until the storm is over. Let's put our things away and eat."

JD agreed, adding that after they could watch the weather channel for news
of the storm. JD had also purchased some provisions for his trip, since he
knew there was a working kitchen included. He brought along A case of
bottled water, frozen pancakes and sausage and dry cereal. He stopped
along the way to buy a container of milk and a few frozen entrees. The two
men put away the food and Lance carried the bags into the bedroom and
placed them in the walk in closet. JD placed two slices of pizza each on
paper plates and took out a can of beer for each of them. He was about to
call the blonde singer when a knock on the door interrupted him.

There at the door stood a slim redheaded boy who looked to be no older than
nineteen. His four wheel drive truck was parked outside and he stood
holding a box awkwardly in his arms.

"Can I help you?" JD asked.

"Hi, I'm from the front office and I'm dropping off a few supplies for our
guests. The weather is getting worst and it looks like we all might be
stuck here for a while. If you need anything else just dial zero and we'll
try to get back up here to you."

"Thanks", JD said, taking the large box from the teen.

He kicked the door closed and turned to put the unwieldy box down. He
almost let out a yell when he realized Lance had been standing behind him.

"I'll take that", Lance said, handling the box with ease.

"They think we'll be stuck here a while", JD informed his guest.

"And so they sent a care package", Lance beamed, opening the box and
looking much like a child on Christmas morning.

"What do we have", JD said, looking over the blonde's shoulder.

"Crackers, microwave popcorn, packets of hot chocolate, bottled water and
two cans of tuna and condiments."

"Sounds yummy", JD joked.

"I'm glad I bought pizza", Lance laughed. "Speaking of which..."

"Oh yeah. I forgot. Dinner is served." JD made a sweeping gesture with
his arms pointing Lance in the direction of the table.

"My compliments to the chef", Lance mumbled after taking a bite out of the
pizza.

The two men talked about their friends and family over the meal and then
called their families to apprize them of the situation. They moved to the
living room and flicked on the tv after a play battle for the remote, that
left both men flushed. JD grabbed a throw pillow and placed it in his lap
to hide the tightening in his jeans. Lance did the same.

They listened intently as the weatherman spoke of white out conditions.
Lance went out to his car to grab a flashlight out of his trunk, while JD
plugged in both their cell phones and cleared the dinner plates. He made a
mental note of how much food they had. He was beginning to worry.

When Lance returned he saw how worried his roommate looked as he closed the
door behind him.

"Hey, you know what always helps me to relax?" He said with a mischievous
smile.

"What?" JD asked, still concentrating on their food supply.

"A nice hot shower and a massage", Lance said, placing his hand on JD's
shoulder.

"Would you like some popcorn?" JD asked nervously.
