Chapter 49
Chris' hands slipped up to Kevin's shoulders. Muscular, broad, strong
shoulders. His hands lightly kneaded Kevin's shoulders as his tongue snaked
its way into Kevin's mouth. Kevin's hands moved down, resting on his ass.
Chris' hunger grew, and the kiss grew deeper, Chris' hands moving down
Kevin's chest as their tongues fought. Chris' hands ran under Kevin's tank
top, feeling the warmth of skin against his palms. Chris felt Kevin
shudder, and broke the kiss.
"Whoa, what was that?" He asked, laughing lightly as their eyes
meeting.
"I don't know, I just got a chill, I guess..." Kevin said, his lips
returning, this time to Chris' neck. They heard the phone ring, and
silently decided to let the machine get it. Chris pulled Kevin's lips back
to his own after pulling off Kevin's top. A faint beep was heard, and Chris
froze when he heard the voice coming through.
"Hey..." a voice stuttered. It was Justin, the unmistakable voice shot
through Chris' body, and he turned his head to listen. "I'm just calling to
say I'm sorry." His voice was soft, somber. "I don't know what was going
on, and I don't know what to say. I know it was wrong, and I'm sorry. I'm
hoping that you can forgive me." He trailed off, and they heard the phone
click.
Chris turned back, looking into Kevin's eyes, looking for an
answer. "I don't want you talking to him anymore." Kevin said.
"Kev...He scared the shit out of me." Chris said, "but he was my
friend. He was one of my best friends until it happened. I can't just push
him away."
"What are you going to do then?" Kevin asked, his eyes stern.
Chris pushed Kevin's hair back, off his face. "I don't know." He
whispered. Kevin sighed, and lied back on the bed, staring at the
ceiling. Chris slowly straddled his waist; he could sense the tension in
the air. "Kev..." Kevin looked up, it was his turn to wait for an
answer. "I love you." It was the only answer he needed.
***
"You have to leave!" Chris said, almost yelling. "Kev is gonna kill
you if he finds you here."
"I just wanted to apologize. I swear. I'm not going to try anything."
Justin pleaded. Chris wasn't going to fall for it this time. He slammed the
door shut. Justin banged on the door. Chris shook his head. It was too
weird now. He thought they could still be friends, but he couldn't look at
Justin without remembering what happened. "Come on, Chris. Don't be like
this."
"Please, Justin, just leave. If you want to talk, come back later,
when Kev's here. Then we'll talk." Chris said through the door. Justin
stopped his pounding, and Chris was grateful. He peered through the
peephole, and Justin was still there. What the hell was wrong with him?
"Dammit Justin! I'll get the dog to attack you if you don't leave! I'll
call the police!" Chris checked the peephole again, and Justin stood there,
ignoring Chris' threats. Chris leaned against the door, confused.
Phone. He needed to call Kev. He ran into the kitchen and dialed
Kevin's cell. Zen came into the kitchen, a ball in his mouth. Chris waited
impatiently as he heard the ringing. Zen dropped the ball at Chris' feet
and pawed at Chris' leg.
"No. Later. We'll play later." He whispered. Zen pushed the ball
closer to Chris. "Kev! Pick up!" Chris heard the answering service, and
hung up.
Zen continued his pawing, and Chris picked up the ball. Zen's tail
wagged excitedly as Chris paced the kitchen, ball in hand. Chris walked
back to the front door, and sure enough, Justin was still standing
there. Zen barked, and Chris could see Justin jump. Impatient, Zen began to
paw at Chris again, barking louder. Chris smiled, patting him on the
head. "Thank you boy." Chris unlocked the dog door, and tossed the ball
outside. The ball barely left his hand, and Zen rushed out the door,
knocking Justin over as he rocketed after the ball. Chris could hear the
loud thud of Justin falling onto the porch. He got up again and pounded on
the door.
"Chris! What the hell are you doing?! We need to talk!" Another thud
could be heard as Justin hit the ground again, and Zen was back in the
house, ball in mouth, and his tail wagging back and forth. Chris gave
up. Kevin wouldn't be home for another hour or so, and even then, Kevin
probably wouldn't know what to do either. Chris slowly opened the door, and
there was Justin, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Any other day,
Chris wouldn't have thought anything of it, but today, he noticed how the
shirt hugged Justin's pecs and accentuated the muscles of his arms. "Thank
you." Justin said, and stepped into the house. Chris could sense the
cockiness and insincerity in his voice. "I just wanted to talk, we can't
just ignore each other forever."
"What the hell were you doing, Justin? I thought you were my friend."
Chris said, not realizing how desperate he was sounding.
"We are friends, Chris." Justin said, "Something came over me, I don't
know why it happened."
"Friends don't do that to each other, they don't try to steal each
others' boyfriends!" Chris said, almost yelling.
Justin stood there, guilty as charged. He was speechless, and for the
second time, he didn't know what he was doing at Kevin's house. Chris was
one of his buddies, one of his best buddies, and he betrayed him. "I'm
sorry." Justin said. All of a sudden, he felt a little better. He looked
over at Chris, who didn't buy it.
It was Chris' turn to be speechless. What was he supposed to do? He
should just forgive Justin and end the whole ordeal, but that isn't the way
life worked. He knew inside that Justin would try something like this
again.
"How about we just forget it ever happened?" Justin asked. He held out
his arms, expecting Chris to just step into them. Hug and make up, it
worked with little brothers, didn't it? Chris held his arms out, and Justin
hugged him tight.
Chris heard a familiar sound. It was the garage door, thank God, Kevin
was home. He started pulling away from Justin, but Justin held him
tight. Chris panicked, his heart raced. Justin was up to
something. Suddenly Justin let him go. Chris sighed with relief, but just
as Kevin stepped through the door, Justin's lips landed firmly on his own,
his hands planted firmly on his ass.
Chris froze, his head spun, and he tried as hard as he could to push
Justin away, but his arms weren't functioning. Suddenly, he fell to the
ground. Chris' eyes grew wide as he stayed on the floor. "Kev, he pushed
himself on me, I swear, I don't know what he's doing."
"Who the hell do you think I am, Justin?" Kevin said, his voice as
hard as stone. "I wasn't born yesterday. Don't think that I won't kick your
ass right here."
Justin stood there, horrified that his plan had gone awry. He wanted
the to crawl into a hole and die. Nothing could have prepared him for
this. Kevin stepped closer, and he ran, ran like a scared puppy, tail
between his legs. Suddenly, he didn't feel so cocky anymore.
***
"...We went on a picnic today, it was the closest thing I've ever had
to a perfect day. I'm never going to forget it. Kev made sandwiches, we had
orange juice, cake, and salad. We sat there and talked, I could do it
forever, just sitting in the park talking. There was hardly anyone there,
because it was a weekday morning. Everyone was at work, and Kevin should
have been at work. He should have been, but instead, he was there with
me..."
Kevin put the journal down and sighed. Things were never going to be
like that again. There would always be Justin in the back of his mind, and
the back of Chris'. They'd have to get over this bump. Every couple had
bumps, and this was a big one. He ran his hand through his long hair and
put the journal back under the mattress. If they ever got over this, they'd
still be in couple's therapy for years. They needed closure, and if they
were going to get it, he'd have to go end this now.
Chapter 50
Months passed, and even though Kevin had tried to contact Justin over
and over and over, every number he had seemed to be disconnected or
changed. The group was on a break, putting Chris out of a job temporarily,
allowing him to concentrate on his studies. Kevin was glad, a college
education was not something that was easy to get, but it helped in every
aspect of life. Their lives had pretty much returned to normal, and Kevin
was glad. There was no couple's therapy in site. Chris was more stressed
out with school than he ever was working, and Kevin stayed busy writing
songs and helping the environment with his charity. Which was what he was
doing today. He just got off the phone with the public relations
executive, and started watching the news. Suddenly, he heard a car stop in
the driveway.
Kevin switched off the TV when he heard Chris opening the door. "How
was it?" Kevin asked. Chris didn't say anything as he walked upstairs.
Kevin didn't need an answer. He ran his hand through his newly cut hair
and tracked his neck before heading upstairs after Chris.
Kevin slowly opened the door, catching only a glimpse of Chris as he
walked into the bathroom, still without a word. Kevin walked into the
room, and saw the outfit that Chris was just wearing all over the bed. A
red short-sleeved button up shirt, a denim jacket, and a pair of khakis lay
strewn over the crisp white sheets. A pair of gray boxer-briefs was a few
steps from the bathroom door and socks and shoes could be seen in the
corner of the room. Kevin sighed, and grabbed all the clothes and tossed
them in the hamper. He took a deep breath before stepping into the steamy
bathroom. He tugged off the black tank top he was wearing and slipped out
of his gym shorts. He stepped into the shower, and wrapped his arms around
Chris. "Baby..." He whispered. Chris turned around, and rested his head on
Kevin's shoulder. Tears slid down his face, and were quickly washed away
by the running water. Kevin slowly rocked him back and forth, as the water
cascaded over their bodies.
"I needed two more points." Chris said, his voice soft. Kevin kissed
him, his hands running down Chris' back. Chris pulled away, and rested his
forehead against Kevin's. "It was the hardest class I've ever taken, I
didn't even need it, and now I'm going to have to take it again. I know
it's just junior college, Kev...but I feel like such crap."
Kevin shushed him, and Chris's tears kept running. "Baby...let's get
out of here...get some ice cream or something...come on." Kevin said as he
slicked Chris' hair back. and gave him quick kiss on the forehead. "Let's
get out of here."
***
Chris stirred his melting ice cream around the bowl as Kevin looked
on, his forehead creased with concern. "Chris..."
"I was supposed to graduate Kev. I bombed my midterm, and I thought I
could cram for the final, but I couldn't." Chris said still looking down
blankly at his ice cream.
"It's not worth crying over, Chris." Kevin said. His fingers ran down
Chris cheek, and down to his chin. Lifting it up, bring Chris' eyes to his
own. "Take it again, pass it. Graduate next year. It's not a big
deal. You'll have a semester to do anything between your final and
graduation. Chris, just...just forget what happened, and start all
over. Clean slate."
"I don't want to think about it anymore. I want to get away from this
damn school, and you're right. I want a clean slate. I want...damn, I
don't know what I want. I want to get away. I just need to stop thinking
about this, Kev." Chris said, his face stern.
"What are you talking about?" Kevin asked.
"Kev, I got into other schools. Florida State was just close to home.
I couldn't stand going away to school, and leaving you right after
everything just started. I got in Georgetown, and I got in NYU." Chris
said. "I'm not trying to say that you held me back, but I held myself
back. I could have done so better, and I challenged myself with this
class, but I didn't commit."
"Baby, you can do anything, I know you can...that's what I love about
you. You're motivated, you're driven, and you're passionate. Just not
about Advanced Western Civilization, screw that, just forget it." Kevin
said, his hand grabbing Chris'.
"Kev, you have a break right?" Chris asked, his eyes wide.
"Yeah, for as long as the guys need it." Kevin said
"My mom rents out this loft in New York. It's in Manhattan, a block
from NYU. I'm gonna transfer."
"Can you do that?"
"I'll have to stay at Florida State for another semester, and if I go
to NYU, I'll graduate in a year. Like you said, a semester is nothing. I
can do it, I'm sure."
Kevin paused. A year. Could the group and the music wait a year? He
didn't care. Chris had made up his mind already; Kevin could sense the
passion in his voice. "Baby...follow your dreams. I'm not going to stand
in your way, and go anywhere for you, do anything for you."
"I'll talk to my counselor tomorrow. I'm sure I'll have no problem.
You'll see Kev, you won't be sorry, I'll know Western Civilization like the
back of my hand." Chris said, the spark back in his eyes. Kevin knew he
meant it, and knew that there'd be no stopping him.
***
Justin put his car into park across the street from Kevin's house.
Why the heck was there a moving van out front? Kevin wasn't considering
moving because of him was he? Damn Kevin was a persistent guy.
Overprotective too, the way he was sheltering Chris from everything. It
had been hard for Justin, months without even seeing or talking to Kevin.
Not that Kevin would want to talk to him now. He smacked himself, shaking
his head. What the hell had gotten into him that day? If Kevin or Chris
saw him here today, they'd probably call the police and get a restraining
order. Whatever. It was all or nothing today. He needed to get Kevin
here and now.
Justin walked up to the house to find the front door unlocked. It
made sense, he moving people must have left it open, and they had probably
gone to get some lunch or something. Justin smiled to himself, and let
himself in. His palms were sweaty as he walked through the house, the
living room already stripped of all signs of Kevin or Chris. All that was
there was the furniture. No pictures, plants, or any decorations of any
kind. 'They work fast,' Justin thought. He walked further, up the stairs
and heard Kevin on the phone. He walked forward, into the room, and found
Kevin rummaging through clothes. He stood there for less than a second
before Kevin noticed him there. Kevin's eyes grew wide and he nearly
dropped the phone.
"I'll have to call you back. Love you." Kevin said before putting the
phone down. "What are you doing here? How did you get in?"
"Door was open." Justin said, looking at his feet. "Been a long
time."
"I was hoping it would be longer. What do you want?"
"I was just...I wanted to apologize. I know I messed up."
"Apologizing isn't going to change anything."
"I just thought I should."
"You should have thought before you did what you did. Think before
you act."
"I know...I just couldn't help myself."
"I don't know what the hell was going on in your head, Justin. You
betrayed Chris. He thought you two were friends. You screwed everything
up between him and you, and between me and you."
"It's just that...I love you Kev."
Kevin stood there, shocked. "What?!"
"That's why I was over here. I guess I was trying to...steal you away
from Chris or something. I thought..."
"What the hell! I wasn't going to just stop loving Chris to get with
you. You're not everyone's dream come true Justin, especially with that
cocky attitude you have going on. I would never even think about seeing
someone like you." Kevin interrupted.
Justin stood there, speechless. It was like Kevin was breaking his
heart apart, piece by tiny piece. It hurt so badly. There is no feeling
like rejection, and Kevin was rejecting him in every way possible. Justin
wanted to cry, but couldn't. He wanted to leave, but couldn't. He
couldn't do anything. His body was reeling with emotions, and he couldn't
move a muscle. Kevin just shook his head, not wanting anything to do with
him.
"Leave, Justin. I think we're done." Kevin said, his voice
unwavering. Kevin was strong, stoic, and collected. Justin turned around,
still in a daze, and left the house. He cried the whole drive to J.C.'s
house.
A few minutes later, Chris practically bounded into the room.
"Everything's taken care of, I'm starting next quarter." He smiled. Kevin
gave him a hug and a quick kiss. "Some maniac was speeding down the tract
earlier. Scared the crap out of me." Chris said, before stealing another
kiss. "Is everything ok?"
Kevin nodded. "Let's get out of here." He said. Chris smiled, and
started to pack up his things.
Chapter 51
Chris dropped his luggage in the entryway of the new loft. "Holy crap
this place is huge." Kevin looked around, and nodded his head. It was a
two-story loft, the second story being only a spiral staircase up to a
bedroom and a bathroom. There was a huge window overlooking New York in
the living room, and a hot tub near another huge tinted window in another
part of the loft. Kevin had called in advance, and furniture was already
in place. It was big enough for the two of them, and maybe one guest at
the most. It was just right for the two of them. Zen ran out ahead,
already sniffing around the loft.
"Let's settle in then." Kevin said, starting to walk around. Looking
around, Chris and Kevin were silent, knowing that this was going to be
their home for the next year or so, maybe longer.
A few hours later, they had unpacked, and the loft looked like a home.
"Don't eat too much, you'll get sick." Kevin said, watching Chris pick
through the paper carton. The Kung Pao Chicken was pretty much gone, and
Chris was working on the rest of the fried rice.
"No I won't." Chris said, putting the carton down. "You ate a fried
rice, a chow mein, and a sweet and sour pork. I can handle this."
Kevin started clearing off the coffee table, and after another bite,
he agreed with Kevin. Another bite, and he'd explode. He followed Kevin
in to the kitchen and tossed the rest of his fried rice. He washed his
hands and felt Kevin's hands wrap around his waist. "Baby..." Kevin said,
kissing Chris neck lightly. "I love you so much." He said, the kisses
barely stopping. Chris turned around, and his lips met Kevin's. The two
kissed for a few minutes, Chris' hands wandering up under Kevin's shirt,
feeling the muscles shift with Kevin's every move. Kevin quickly pulled
off Chris' shirt, and then continued the kiss. Chris's body chilled from
the sudden cold on his skin. Kevin pulled Chris up against his own body,
and Chris' hands went from Kevin's abs to his back. Kevin pulled away from
the kiss, looking into Chris' eyes. Kevin grabbed Chris' hand, and pulled
him into the other room. Chris immediately went for Kevin's lips again,
but Kevin pulled off his shirt and pants, leaving only his tight black
boxer-briefs. Chris watched as Kevin stepped into the hot tub, the bubbles
swirling around as soon as Kevin flipped a switch. Chris quickly followed,
and was straddling Kevin's hips in no time. Kevin's hands were on Chris'
sides and Chris' lips were on Kevin's neck. Kevin gave a low groan as he
eased his hands down to Chris' butt. Chris' hand began to stroke Kevin's
thick cock under the foamy water and Kevin's mouth switched with Chris' as
he nipped at Chris' neck. Chris threw his head back and groaned into the
air as Kevin eased two fingers into his ass. He slumped against Kevin's
body, groans and whimpers escaping his mouth as Kevin's fingers hit all the
right spots. Chris' body convulsed with pleasure as Kevin's fingers worked
in and out of his tight hole.
"Kev..." Chris whispered, barely able to form words. Kevin caught
Chris' nipple in his mouth as his fingers continued their work under the
foam. Chris hissed, his mind couldn't stay in one place; the sensations
were washing over his body uncontrollably. Chris had to steady himself on
Kevin's shoulders as Kevin's fingers brought him closer and closer to
orgasm. "Kevin...you can't...oh God...please don't make me cum
yet...please..." Chris whispered, clutching onto Kevin. Kevin sped up,
this foreplay only a taste of what was to come. He couldn't wait to be
inside of the warmth his fingers felt, the tight confines of Chris' ass.
He couldn't wait for the connection, the joining of their bodies. Chris'
breaths grew uneven and his body seemed to draw Kevin's fingers inside of
it. Kevin inserted a third finger, and Chris let out a loud, long groan.
Kevin watched Chris' muscles, his abs, and his shoulders, contract over and
over as his fingers hit the magic spots. Suddenly, Chris' body went stiff,
and all movement ceased as Chris was overtaken by his orgasm. Kevin's hand
ran circles over Chris' back as he came down from the sensations. Their
lips met again, and Chris pulled Kevin's soaked boxer-briefs off his
muscled legs, tossing them in a wet puddle outside of the hot tub.
"Are you okay baby..." Kevin whispered, looking into Chris' eyes. He
nodded, still out of breath, "up for more?"
"Anything..." Chris panted. Kissing Kevin again. Kevin wrapped his
arms around Chris, and pushed him into a standing position in the tub.
Chris' hands began to stroke Kevin's cock, now completely hard and
throbbing. Kevin slowly eased Chris down, right where he had been a few
minutes ago, and started to kiss Chris' neck. Under the swirling water,
Kevin's knee gently pushed Chris' legs apart and he stroked himself a few
times, making sure he was fully hard before getting into position. Chris
held onto Kevin tight, it always hurt at first, and he braced himself for
the pain as Kevin eased into him. No matter how slow, how gently, and how
easy Kevin tried to be, it hurt so badly. It was worth it though, when
Kevin was fully inside of him, every glorious inch, and he knew they were
connected, there was no feeling like that at all. When Kevin was fully
inside, he stopped, and looked down at Chris, tears escaping his eyes as he
held tight onto Kevin. Kevin waited for what seemed like forever, until
Chris' face softened, before slowly pulling out. Chris almost screamed
when Kevin slowly began his thrusting motions. It had been a while since
they'd done this, but the earlier actions made it a little easier for Kevin
to gain momentum in the warm bubbly water. Chris was groaning incoherently
as Kevin thrust inside of him, his even, calculated movements bringing him
closer and closer to his second orgasm of the night. Kevin's lips met his
again, the two were joined completely, arms wrapped around each other,
tongues sliding against each other, just like their wet bodies, and Kevin's
cock pistoning in and out of Chris' tight asshole. The whole world froze,
and Kevin and Chris were together, in a cloud of pleasure and ecstasy with
each other. Kevin's thrusts got more urgent as he felt Chris' asshole
spasm, both their bodies trying to contain their orgasms, both their bodies
on the verge, but none of them wanted this moment to end. A few moments
later, Chris let out a silent scream, his orgasm knocking the wind out of
him, Kevin's cock shot it's load into Chris, his cock unable to resist the
sensations of Chris' orgasm. Both men gave long heavy breaths, the hot tub
soothing their sore muscles. Their arms were still wrapped around each
other, Chris' forehead rested on Kevin's shoulder as he let his body
recover from the unreal sensations that just occurred. Kevin shut off the
bubbles, and the couple dried off before Kevin carried Chris' tired body
upstairs to their new bedroom.
***
Kevin woke up a few days later, the door buzzer ringing incessantly.
He stumbled out of bed and quietly walked downstairs and opened the door a
crack.
"Good morning Kevin. Nice to see you up and about at this time of day,
it being half past noon almost."
Kevin rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, shutting the door quietly
behind Chris' mother. Her unexpected visit caught him by surprise, and he
quickly threw on a pair of boxers and a tee shirt as soon as the door
buzzer rang. "No problem, do you want me to go wake up Chris?"
"No, it's quite alright, I just wanted to see the loft, and make sure
you two weren't living in a shack. I see everything is sufficient. Tell
him I came by, and that you two are invited to come to dinner whenever you
like. It would be terrific if you both came by every day."
"Thanks, but how about once a month?" Kevin suggested, knowing both he
and Chris valued independence, and eating out.
"How about every other day?"
"Every other week?"
"Twice a week."
"Once a week."
"Done. Once a week, every Friday, six thirty sharp, starting
tonight. And please, Kevin, just take care of him. He'll get a good
education at NYU, I've always wanted him to go there."
"Yeah, he said you pushed him. Are you sure you don't want coffee or
anything?"
"I did, but he didn't listen, you know how teenagers can be. Enough
of this, we'll talk more at dinner tonight. See you then. My love to you
both." Kevin led her to the door, still too sleepy to object to anything
else. He gave her a hug, and she was gone just as suddenly as she had
arrived.
***
Kevin sat, like he'd done all day, watching morning soap operas, then
daytime soaps, and then daytime talk shows. All day long. He couldn't
sleep, he didn't have a gym membership yet, the computer wasn't hooked up,
and no one was home to talk on the phone with. While Chris was in class,
he had constructively done absolutely nothing. Chris had woken up, and
started to brush his teeth, he looked just too tempting to resist in those
tight gray boxer-briefs, and Kevin couldn't stop himself from coming up
behind him and kissing the back of his neck, running his hand over Chris'
chest. "Kevin...I'm going to be late for class." Chris had said. Kevin
wasn't used to that. He stopped himself, and let Chris finish. Chris put
on a black button up shirt and some khakis. All Kevin had gotten that
morning was a quick kiss goodbye. And all day, he wondered if this was the
right thing to do.
***
"Nice jacket." Kevin said. "A new red leather jacket." Chris never
went shopping without Kevin.
"Yeah, I got it on my way home from class today. It's vintage." Chris
said with a smile.
"Are you going to wear it to dinner tonight?" Kevin asked. "I think
you should wear the black one though."
"I forgot." Chris said, "I guess I should change. What time are we
leaving?"
"In a few hours." Kevin said, before Chris gave him a kiss. Chris'
hands wandered up Kevin's shirt, and Kevin's lips found Chris' neck. As
Chris' shirt slipped off his shoulders, Kevin was already leading him
upstairs.
***
"So, Christopher, what classes are you taking?" Elizabeth said,
dressing her salad. [Author's note: for those of you who forgot, that's
Chris' mom. I might have given her a new name. I can't seem to remember.
Ok, back to the story.]
"Just Western Civilization, and I'm finishing off my French and my
Communications." Chris said.
"He's gonna go great, I can already tell." Kevin said. Chris smiled,
and continued with his salad.
"And you, Kevin, how are you spending you days?" Elizabeth asked.
"I'm keeping myself busy." Kevin said, courtesy overriding honesty.
"That's good to hear." Elizabeth said.
Kevin nodded, and looked around the dining room. The house was just
as it was last time he was here. Everything matched, and everything was in
its place. Kevin had never felt more awkward. He was always busy, with
one thing or another, and just lounging around the house was going to drive
him crazy. Chris was so happy though, and Kevin wasn't going to take that
away from him. He wasn't going to take away the spark in Chris' eyes when
he got home from school; the spark that was there when Chris wrote a paper
he knew was good. Chris gave up certain things when the relationship was
new, and now, it was Kevin's turn.
Dinner wore on, the conversation mostly just catching up with the
events of life, and Kevin was basically zoned out the whole time, and he
knew Chris could tell, glancing at him every once in a while. "Kevin, why
are you being so quiet?" Chris asked as soon as the stepped into the loft.
"It's nothing." Kevin said, settling on the couch. The same couch
he'd been on for days. Chris came over, and lay down next to him, and
Kevin automatically pulled him into a hug.
"Thank you." Chris said softly. "For everything."
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean. I know you hate being normal, I know you need
to work twenty-four seven. You're giving up so much for me, for my future."
"I'd do anything for you, you know that."
"I do know that Kev, and I love you for that. But I know you're going
to go crazy if you're home by yourself for one more day, so I got something
to keep you company." Chris said before walking over to the huge window.
There was a screen a few yards in front of it that Kevin hadn't noticed
before. The furniture of the loft had changed so many times; he hadn't
noticed the new Japanese screen. "Ok, I hope you like it." Chris said
before he moved the screen aside.
Kevin's eyes grew wide as he saw what was being revealed. It was a
black grand piano, huge, shiny, and right in front of the window, so the
pianist always had a breathtaking view of New York. Kevin was speechless,
at the house in Florida, they only had room for an upright piano, and the
grand piano was just an awesome sight. "There's one more thing though."
Chris said. "Remember the time you taught me that one song? 'Twinkle,
Twinkle Little Star?' I still remember it. Come sit down and I'll play it
for you."
Kevin sat down, and gave Chris a kiss, a long, passionate kiss. Chris
looked into his eyes, and smiled. "Do you like it? You can write songs
and stuff now, so you don't totally waste all your time while I'm at
school."
"You're the best. I love you so much." Kevin said, their eyes not
losing the constant gaze. "Play."
Chris positioned his hands on the keys, and started. As the simple
melody, started Kevin couldn't help but smile. One arm went around Chris,
slowly, as not to interrupt the song. He looked out at the city, the stars
just beginning to peek out of the night sky. Kevin could get used to this
after all.
