The only thing I have remotely in common with these boys is that Ashley

FIRST THINGS FIRST: Armand, being the excellent and awesome person that he

couldn't let it die. So I'm gonna keep it running. For those of you that
enjoy the next generation series attached to this I am going to try and
keep going with that also. These chapters will be going back in time, hence
the title. It's going to be covering a variety of things so just read and
you'll understand :-p

RANDY'S STORY
? March 17, 1981

Paula Parker walked into the free clinic and sat down in one of the chairs.

"We just need you to fill out these papers and the doctor will be with you
shortly" the nurse said as she handed Paula a chart

"Thank you." Paula said with as much of a smile as she could muster,
obviously carrying a load with her in more than one way.

"You seem like something's wrong honey." The nurse said.

"I'm sure you see a million people like me." Paula said looking down at the
chart.

"You're right I do but that doesn't mean I can't be nice to them." The
nurse said

"I'm sorry...it's just that things aren't very good right now." Paula said.

"You got a baby on the way I see." The nurse said.

"Yeah that's the problem...me and my husband just got married about a year
ago and money has been really tight lately. He's pretty pissed that I'm
pregnant already seeing as he wanted to get us settled first." Paula said.

"That's not really something that he should be getting too mad over. Does
he get mad that easily often?" the nurse asked

Paula simply looked away.

The nurse got up from behind her desk and sat down next to Paula. She put
her arm around her.

"You know you're not alone in this world even if you don't get support from
him. My name is Julie. Call me anytime you need help ok?" she said.

"Thanks." Paula said with a tear in her eye.

"Mrs. Parker...I can see you now" A doctor said from the door.

Julie led Paula to the room and closed the door. She went to the other side
of the room and began to fill out some papers pretending not to listen.

"Mrs. Parker I have some news for you that may be good or bad...depending
on how you look at it." The doctor said.

"What is it?" Paula asked

"You're going to have twins...not identical but still twins...boys in
fact." The doctor said.

Julie flipped around and looked at Paula with a concerned look on her face.
Paula just looked back with a blank stare trying to figure out how she was
going to explain this to her husband.

Paula opened the door to the trailer that she was living in with her
husband. Peter was sitting there reading the newspaper, sitting in a beat
up recliner and watching tv.

"Hey, where were you?" Peter asked

"Just went out for a drive." Paula answered

"Well, what's for dinner?" Peter asked as he went back to reading his
newspaper.

"I'll go fix something right now." Paula said as she headed for the
kitchen. She stopped when she got to the archway and turned around.

"Peter...I have something to tell..." Paula started but was cut off.

"I asked those bastards that I work for if I could have raise since we have
a kid coming and they turned me down. Thank god we're only having one
kid. God knows you're not carrying your weight around here." Peter said
harshly

Paula couldn't tell him. She feared for her own safety if she did say
something. She now understood what she had to do.

? August 1, 1981

"I need some water in here!" the doctor screamed out as nurses went running
to take the necessary precautions to help the baby come out.

"Paula I'm here for you...where's your husband?" Julie asked as she came
running in.

"Probably at some bar" Paula said through breaths.

"It's ok...here take my hand." Paula grasped Julie's hand and pulled her in
close.

She put her lips near Julie's ear and whispered so that only she could hear
her.

"He doesn't know about the second one...you have to keep it a secret. Take
it somewhere. I'll get in touch with you." Paula whispered

Julie took a step back and looked at her. She was torn between what she
knew was illegal but wanted to protect her patient and friend. She wasn't
sure it was right but when she felt Paula squeeze her hand and look at her
she nodded. She had to help her.

?August 3, 1981

Julie opened the door to her apartment and saw Paula standing there with a
baby in her hands and sunglasses on.

"Come in...he's in here." Julie said as she closed the door and led her
into the apartment.

Paula came in and saw one of her babies, Randy laying on the bed sleeping.
She put the other twin, Ashley down next to him. She looked down at the
twins, both sleeping. They weren't identical but you could definitely tell
they were brothers. Ashley's hair was just a little lighter.

"You're inside now...you can take the sunglasses off." Julie said knowing
where this was headed.

Paula slowly removed the sunglasses to reveal a black eye.

"That prick. This has got to stop. I'm calling the cops" Julie said
reaching for the phone

"No! I'll handle that. We've got to get one of the twins out of here."
Paula said.

"What are you talking about?" Julie questioned.

"I'm giving up one for adoption, as far away from Redding, California as
possible." Paula said facing the window.

"Are you sure?" Julie asked.

"I have to." Paula said as she opened a map of the U.S. that she
bought. She looked as far as she could from California and the name Reading
popped out at her in Connecticut. It seemed too ironic but it worked.

"Julie... I'll take Ashley cuz that's the one I took him with me and you
take Randy and take him to Connecticut and give him up to adoption." Paula
said as she turned around and handed her an envelope full of money.

"Where did you get this money?" Julie asked.

"I had it saved up behind Peter's back in case of an emergency." Paula said
as she went over to Randy.

"I'm sorry Randy." She said as she kissed him on the forehead leaving a
tearstain in his hair.

She picked up Ashley and went for the door. She turned right before she
left.

"I'll never forget this favor Julie. I bet you wish you never started up
that conversation back at the doctor's office." Paula said with a nervous
laugh. "You truly are an angel saving me" Paula said before she left

Julie turned and saw the sleeping child on the bed and sighed.
