People Change with time-5

I would like to thank all the people that mailed me. After seeing how many
people did actually read, I felt like a heel. This is not meant to mean
anything about anyone in the story. If you're too young or offended please
don't read it.

Justin stood there watching the paramedics put Jason on the gurney and put
him in the back of the ambulance. JC and Dale stood on either side of him,
trying their best to console him. Justin had stopped crying, he just
watched. He watched in disbelief. He thought about what to do next. If
Jason survived, how long before it would happen again. He knew he couldn't
live like that, he refused to.

"Do you want to go to the hospital?" JC asked hesitantly.

"Could we," Justin said looking at JC. JC noted the look him his friends
eyes. He had never seen this look before. He looked worn and tired, like
years of torment had taken their toll. The trio walked to Dale's car and
headed to the hospital, not far behind the ambulance. They walked into the
emergency room and asked about me.

"He's still in surgery. We won't know anything until the doctor comes out."
The orderly said not even looking up from his work. He acted like he didn't
even care. Justin reached over the counter and grabbed the young man by the
shirt and pulled him half way across the counter.

"YOU HAVEN'T EVEN CHECK SO HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU KNOW. AT LEAST ACT LIKE
YOU GIVE A SHIT. I AM NOT IN A MOOD FOR THIS GARBAGE YOU ASSHOLE" Justin
screamed at the guy. He looked surprised and scared at the same time. A
police officer walked over and Dale cut him off to explain everything and
try to calm things down while JC pried the orderly lose from Justin's grasp.

"Justin, you can't just grab him and scream at him like that." JC said
trying to console his friend.

"I know. I'm sorry. He just got to me the way he didn't even care." Justin
said walking with JC trying to calm himself down.

"Boy when I tell Jason about this, he's gonna crack up." JC said.

"What if he's not around to tell. What then?" Justin asked looking at his
friend. They had stopped in the middle of a hallway.

"You can't think like that. He's tough, he's gonna be fine." JC said as he
hugged Justin. They walked back to the waiting room and waited for what
seemed like hours. The three watched the sun come up through the windows.
Justin turned around and noticed a man at the table talking to the orderly.
The night shift ended, so it was a different orderly. The lady pointed at
Justin and his friends and the man started to walk over.

"Excuse me, are you here for Mr. McLintock." A man in a white coat asked.

"Yes," Justin said with a lump in his throat.

"Well, he's alive. The surgery was successful. We were able to remove all
the fragments." He said with a smile. They all breathe a sigh of relief,
but none as much as Justin. He felt like a weight had been lifted.

"Can I see him," Justin asked excitedly.

"Well he in a coma right know, but you can see him if you like." The doctor
said. He motioned for them to follow him. He led them to a room that was
out of the way. It was a single room, for privacy.

"Do you normally put people in single rooms like this?" Dale asked the
doctor.

"No, but he's no normal patient." The doctor replied.

"What do you mean by that?" JC asked.

"Don't worry, I shouldn't have said anything." The doctor said leaving
"Please don't stay too long, he needs to rest, even if he's in a coma."

"Doctor, how long until he regains consciousness?" Justin asked.

"Hard to tell." He replied leaving. They stood there for a few minutes
waiting for some sort of movement. After a half-hour they left to go home.

"Do you want any company?" JC asked Justin as they dropped him off at his
house.

"No, thanks JC." He said smiling.

"You need anything call us." Dale said.

"Thanks, I will." Justin replied. Justin walked up to his house and went
inside. He looked around at his house. His eyes caught a glimpse of his
piano, where I had played for him. He walked over and noticed the keyboard
cover was left up. He closed the cover and went upstairs to change. He
walked into his bathroom and started a shower. As the shower started to
steam up the bathroom, Justin started to take off his clothes. He started
to take off his shirt, to expose his upper body. He continued down and
stripped his socks off and dropped his pants. Justin stood there in his
underwear, but only momentarily. Justin climbed into the shower and let the
water hit his naked body. He closed his eyes and started to wash up.
Justin suddenly stopped washing and started to cry. If you could see the
sight, it would break you heart. Picture it, a grown man like Justin
Timberlake standing a shower crying for the one he loved.

Justin put the palms of his hands against the shower wall and put his head
under the falling water. Still crying as the water straightened his curly
hair. Justin stood there for so long, he lost all track of time. Nothing
seemed to matter anymore, nothing. Justin finally climbed out and dried
off. He walked into his bedroom and put on some sweet pants. Justin
proceeded downstairs to get something to eat. He looked at the clock; it
was a quarter past one. Justin was amazed at the time lapse. He just
shrugged it off and started to make something to eat. Justin rummaged
through the refrigerator, but only found an apple. He grabbed it and took a
big bite and started chewing when he noticed the answering machine had
picked up a few messages. Justin walked over and hit the play button to
hear his messages. The first was from Lance; he wanted to hang out. Then
their was another from JC and Dale. They invited him to have dinner with
them. After that were two more from Lance.

"He sure seems eager to get a hold of me," Justin said out-loud. Justin
picked up his portable phone and headed for the family room to watch TV.

"Hello," Lance said answering the phone.

"Lance," Justin said sitting down on his couch.

"Justin, I've been trying to get a hold of you. What are you doing?" Lance
asked.

"Nothing much. I just got home from the hospital a few hours ago and was
soaking in the shower." Justin said as if no big deal.

"Are you ok?" Lance asked concerned.

"I'm fine, but Jason was shot last night." Justin said.

"Jason? You mean that guy from California? What's he doing here?" Lance
asked.

"He came over to see me yesterday morning so we went out to dinner last
night. Coming out of the restaurant a car sped by and the people inside
shot him." Justin said remembering the events in perfect detail.

"Oh man, I am so sorry. Is there anything I can do?" He asked.

"Not really, but thanks." Justin said flipping through the channels on the
TV.

"You seem to be taking this really well." Lance commented.

"At first I cried and cried, but I am not so sure now." Justin said.

"What do you mean?" Lance asked confused.

"I don't think I want to be around someone that is gonna get shot at every
day. Ya know." Justin said.

"Do you like him. I mean do you consider him a friend." Lance asked.
Justin had never told Lance that he liked Jason and was going out with him.

"I think he is a really nice guy, yeah." Justin said.

"Then at least give him a chance man." Lance said.

"This coming from someone that doesn't even like him." Justin said confused.

"Well I thought about it. You are a good judge of character, if you like
him I should at least give him a chance." Lance said. "What are you doing
tonight?"

"I am going over to JC's for supper." Justin replied.

"Oh, ok then. I will talk to ya later." Lance said disappointed. Justin
hung up the phone and thought about what he had just heard. He dismissed it
and thought no more about it. Justin laid around the house for the rest of
the afternoon, calling the hospital every hour. He gave them his cell phone
and asked to be called if anything came about. He started to head over to
JC's around six o'clock.

Justin pulled up to JC's house and saw my motorcycle still sitting in the
driveway. Justin climbed out of the car and walked over to the titan.

"I had to move it out of the way so I could pull into my garage," Dale said
walking out of the house.

"It's a nice bike," Justin commented.

"Yes it is. One of the best they make anymore." Dale said putting his hand
on the bike. "I hope he can get it out of my driveway sometime soon."

"I kept calling all afternoon. I was hoping he would wake up." Justin said
starting to walk towards the house.

"He will. If there is anything I know about the McLintock family is they
are all tough." Dale said.

"Family?" Justin asked.

"Yes. Headed by Big Jim." Dale said. "He's the guy in charge. I think
Jason works for him. They are one of the more powerful families in
organized crime. Only thing is, Big Jim's dead."

"Oh," Justin replied. They closed the front door and headed for the dinning
room. Their JC was waiting for them. "Hey JC"

"Hey Just," JC said hugging his friend. They sat down and ate their dinner
and talked about various different topics all night. Justin was laughing
and carrying on, they all were. It was exactly what Justin needed. Justin
was sitting on the couch watching a comedy movie on the TV when his cell
phone rang. Justin got a lump in his throat, he knew who it was.

"Hello," he said hesitantly

"Mr. Timberlake. This is Doctor Howard. I am tending to Mr. McLintock." He
said into the phone.

"Ok, so how is he." Justin asked.

"He is fine, he's awake and wants you to come see him right away." The
doctor said.

"Be right there," Justin said hanging up and running towards the door.

"Justin what's wrong," JC yelled as Justin raced to his car.

"Jason's awake. He wants to see me." Justin yelled backing out of the
driveway. Justin raced to the hospital where Jason was, unable to contain
his excitement. Justin pulled up to the hospital and ran inside. He turned
down the hallway and noticed two big guys standing by my door. He stood
there looking at one of the guys.

"Can I help you?" He asked.

"My name is Justin, Jason sent for me." Justin said trying not to be
intimidated by the size difference.

"Go on in," He said opening the door. Justin walked inside and saw Jason
lying on the bed smiling and talking to another guy standing next to the
bed. Justin couldn't help but think this man looked familiar.

"Justin, how you doin'?" Jason asked smiling at his boyfriend.

"Jason, thank god." Justin said going over and hugging Jason, as a tear
rolled down Justin's check.

"Justin, This is my Dad, Jim." Jason said pushing Justin off him.

"Hi." Justin said extending his hand.

"How are you?" Jim said shaking Justin's hand. "Jason, is it safe to talk in
front of him."

"Ya, he's cool." I said pulling Justin over to sit on the side of the bed.

"Ok, what do you think?" Jim asked.

"It sounds great. Then you will be top dog, but count me out. I can't go
back to that life. I could've died, I'm all done." I said holding onto
Justin's hand.

"I am sorry to hear that, but if that is you wish. What are you gonna do
know?" Jim asked.

"I don't know, something will turn up, always does." I said.

"Ok, but it will be hard to pull this off without you. You were the key
factor in this plan. I had it all revolved around you. Do you know what
kind of money we are talking here? Big bucks, millions. If you change your
mind, let me know. I do hope you know that they might come after you
anyway, just because." He said.

"I know. I would like to have the money, but money won't help a dead man.
If you need anything, let me know." I said to him.

"I need you help. I raised you to always help a family member when they are
in trouble." Jim said.

"You also raised me to know when to stop pushing the envelope." I said to
him.

"Alright, I will do it without you. I will see you around." He said
leaving.

"Bye dad, good luck." I said lying there. As he left, Justin turned to face
me.

"I didn't know that was your dad." Justin said. "He looked familiar."

"He should. You saw me shoot him last week." I said sitting there trying to
drink a glass of water. Justin's thought went back to the night at the
restaurant, when he saw me shoot a man and his bodyguards.

"That's Big Jim," Justin said in amazement.

"Yeah, Big Jim McLintock." I said putting the water down.

"Why?" Justin asked.

"Because that's the name his parent's gave him." I said to him.

"No, why did you pretend to kill him." He asked,

"Oh, he's planning to overthrow the commission that oversees organized
crime. They've been getting on the Families case about every little thing,
so he's gonna completely wipe out the commission and place himself on top."
I said sitting there.

"Was he wearing a bullet proof vest the bleeds too." Justin asked. I looked
at him confused. "You told me the vest you whore was supposed to bleed when
it was shot, remember."

"Oh yeah. There is no such vest; it was all an act. We had blood packets
that exploded to look like we where bleeding." I said looking at him.

"You lied to me," Justin said looking at me.

"I didn't know you, I didn't know who you'd tell. I had to, but I am sorry."
I said.

"It's ok, I understand." He said smiling at me. We looked at each other for
a few minutes, just taking in the others presence.

"So, are you done with the mob thing?" Justin asked. I laugh started to
laugh.

"The mob thing? Yes, I am not going back. I can't." I said to him.

"Good, I don't think I could live like that. I couldn't, no way." Justin
said squeezing my hand.

"How would you like to go the my cabin when I get out of here. You and me,
no one else." I said looking at him.

"I'd like that," He said as JC and Dale came in with Lance in tow.

"Hey guys," Justin said withdrawing his hand from mine.

"Hey, how are you Jason?" Dale asked.

"I got more holes than Swiss cheese, other than that fine." I said to Dale.

"Do they know who did it?" Lance asked.

"I got a pretty good idea who decided to ventilate me." I said smiling. "My
names Jason,"

"I'm Lance," Lance said shaking my hand. Lance walked over and sat down in a
chair in the corner as everybody started to sit down. Justin got off the
bed and sat in a chair next to the bed. "Justin why where you sitting on the
bed?"

"It was comfortable," Justin said to Lance. Then the doctor walked in to
check on me.

"Well Jason, how are you feeling?" He asked.

"I feel a draft," I said smiling. He smiled.

"It's good to see you're in good humor. We took enough medal out of you to
build car." He said. "I would like to keep you here for a few more days,
just to follow up. After that you can leave."
