Westlife Romance - Part 4

A look of concern was evident on Nicky's face. "What is it, Kian?"

Kian began fidgeting with his fingers and he avoided looking at the older
boy. Feeling the uneasy atmosphere, Nicky moved towards Kian and pulled
him into a hug. "What is it, baby? You can tell me anything."

"Nicky...I just want to tell you..." Kian paused, trying to figure out how
to continue. The words on the edge of his lips, Kian just could not get
those few words out. "I...I just wanted to tell you how much I love you,
Nicky." Immediately after uttering those words, Kian cursed himself
silently for backing out at the last minute.

Nicky smiled at his boyfriend and pulled him into a hug. "Thanks, Kian.
You mean everything to me, you know..." He gave him a quick kiss before
leaving his boyfriend alone to get some rest.

As Nicky closed the door, tears streamed down Kian's face. He was so
confused, so lost. "What's happening to me?" he asked himself. "Why can't
I be happy with an amazing boyfriend like Nicky?" He sat down on his bed
and sobbed. "Why can't I get my mind off Derek? This is so wrong!!"

Meanwhile, Nicky headed to Bryan's room, hoping to find out why his friend
was so down. After knocking several times and not getting an answer, Nicky
reluctantly turned away, heading back to his own room. As he walked away,
the door slowly opened. Nicky turned around to see Bryan at the door, with
bloodshot eyes and dishevelled hair. Seeing his distraught friend, Nicky
instinctively walked up to him, hoping to comfort Bryan. "Are you okay,
Bry?"

The usually carefree boy shook his head weakly, not able to utter a word.
The younger boy opened his door to allow, beckoning Nicky to go in. Nicky
walked into a darkened room, his mind wondering what could possibly make
Bryan this upset. Bryan walked back to his messy bed, sitting by the edge,
his tears threatening to fall again. Nicky sat beside his friend, placed
his hands around Bryan's shoulders, comforting him. "What happened,
Bryan?"

Bryan's answer came in the form of intensifying sobs. He buried his face
on Nicky's shoulders and cried. After several minutes, the sobs finally
subsided. "It was all a lie...everything was a lie..." Nicky could not
understand what Bryan was trying to say, but he didn't want to rush his
friend either. Being as patient as he can, Nicky waited for Bryan to
continue. "Over the past year, I've been chatting with someone on the
internet. We got to know each other pretty well, and like I said this
morning, he was my only friend aside from you guys."

"Did you ever meet him in person?"

Bryan shook his head. "We've never had the chance to meet, 'cause he lived
in the States. We talked a lot, eventually we got to be really close.
When I found out we were coming to the city where he lived, I decided that
I had to see him."

"And that's where you went this morning, right?"

"Yeah...I've waited for this day for 2 years now. But it turned out to be
a huge lie...he...he was already taken...and...and he said that he...he
never loved me...he was just having fun..." With that, the tears started
flowing again. In his sorrow, Bryan didn't realize that he just outed
himself to Nicky. It was when Nicky remained silent that Bryan realized
what he had done. "Oh shit...what have I done?" Bryan whispered in
desperation. "How could I have been so stupid?" Bryan thought to himself.
He quickly thought up something to try to repair the damage. "I...I didn't
really mean it that way...I mean..." He was failing miserably in his
attempts to backtrack. "It's..."

"It's okay, Bryan."

"Nicky, please don't hate me. Pretend that I didn't say
anything...PLEASE!!!"

Nicky pulled Bryan into a hug. "It's okay, Bryan. Everything's going to
be okay. I promise."

"Please don't hate me..." Bryan whispered in between sobs.

"I can never hate you, Bryan. You're my best friend," Nicky reassured the
younger boy. "No matter what happens, you'll always be my best friend."

"But...but I'm gay..."

"So what? That doesn't change a thing, Bryan. You've got to believe me."

Bryan's body slowly relaxed as he regained his composure. "Please don't
tell the guys, Nicky. At least not just yet."

"I understand. I won't say a thing."

"Thanks, Nicky. Thanks for being here for me."

"Anytime, Bryan," Nicky said as he smiled at his friend. "But are you
going to be okay?"

"Yeah, I think so. It's a huge relief to finally share my secret with
someone. I felt like I was going to die when I first found out."

Nicky pulled Bryan into another hug. "I'm so glad that you trusted me
enough to share this with me. Thanks, Bryan." Catching a glimpse at the
clock, Nicky realized that it was already very late. "You better get some
sleep now, Bry. We've got that photo shoot tomorrow and Shane's gonna kill
you if you're late."

Bryan nodded. "I guess you're right. Wouldn't want to piss Shane off two
days in a row," Bryan replied with the slightest hint of bitterness.

"He doesn't mean it, you know. He's just nervous about the tour, that's
all."

"Yeah, I know...I'm just being bitchy, that's all..." Bryan laughed.

"Tell me about it," Nicky joked, receiving a playful punch for the comment.
Turning serious again, he looked his friend in the eye, "Everything's gonna
turn out okay, Bryan."

"I believe you, Nicky. Thanks so much. For everything."

"Well, good night, Bryan. I'll see you in the morning." With that, Nicky
left the room, leaving Bryan to think about the events of the day. Bryan
got into bed, but sleep eluded him. Too many thoughts swirled in his head.
The cyber relationship. The lie. The rejection. All of these images
flashed before him. Eventually, fatigue gained the upper hand as Bryan
began to drift off to sleep. On this night, Bryan fell asleep with a faint
smile on his face. He kept the secret no longer. Nicky knows. And Bryan
knew that things were going to be alright.

...to be continued....
