Working for the Boys
By CArtoon80

"Get out of here," echoed the voice of a frightened boy. Though the
halls of Daniel College, Tyler's voice ran like lightening though a tree.

Being my nosy self, I walked down towards Tyler's room to see Casey
Dunning wrapping his arms around an angry Tyler.

"I love you, babe," Casey assured Tyler.

Tyler swiftly threw Casey's arms off him and stood away from
him. His hand pointed towards me, so I backed up a little.

"Leave, damnit," yelled Tyler in a tearful anger. "Casey, I don't
want you back!"

Immediately that Backstreet Boys song ran through my mind. "Don't
Want You Back" was the song that helped me get through the trouble and
torment that Johnny put me through.

The sound of a slap brought me back to reality. Tyler was on the
floor and Casey's hand had apparently went full swing into Tyler's
face. Casey's face had a look of shock, while Tyler just cried harder.

I jumped into the room and grabbed Casey's hand.

"I think you should leave," I said as I gripped hard onto Casey's
wrist.

Both looked at me in shock, so I pressed harder on Casey's wrist.

	"Mind your business," Casey yelled.

I looked at Tyler and he was frightened, but of who was what I
wanted to know.

"Do you want me to through him out," I asked as I looked at Tyler.

Tyler shook his head and I escorted Casey to the door.

"Now as a warning, if you come back, I'll escort you down a flight
of stairs."

With that, I slammed the door on Casey's face. When I looked back
at Tyler, he was a little scared, but he had stopped crying. I came up to
him and hugged him a little.

	"You ok," I asked Tyler.

He looked at me and nodded his head.

"Do you want to talk about that," Asking another question.

Tyler stood up and walked to the window.

"You know I'm gay, don't you," he asked me, almost in fear.

I came up to him and put my hand on his shoulder.

"I am too. Funny how many American guys who go to an English
private college are gay."

Tyler smiled and looked at me.

"Thank you, James. You didn't have to do that."

	"I wanted to."

We hugged for a bit, then I looked at Tyler.

"Do you want to tell me," I asked him.

"I need to tell someone," he answered.

We sat down on his bed as he began.

"Well," Tyler started, "Casey and I only met a few weeks ago. Casey
is 20. We had one date and it turned out that Casey was some kinda
psycho. He "fell" deep for me and was stalking me. Then he came to my room
a few times this week. Last night, he tried to rape me, but I managed to
run to the headmaster. Then he came back today. If you weren't here, I
don't know what he would have done, James. Thank you."

"No prob, Tyler. Not at all."

The following week, with our families admiring, we all
graduated. Tyler and I, by then, were best of friends. Our families met and
mingled. We had a great time. As I talked with my mother and brothers, I
say Tyler out of the corner of my eye. All I saw was humbling pulled
away. I excused myself and asked my older brother, Kirk, to come with
me. We went to the side of the school and there was Casey pinning Tyler to
the wall.

"Tyler, baby," Casey screamed, "I love you. Be with me!"

Then he looked to see Kirk, and I, both at 6'1, standing there.

"Will you fucking leave us," Casey screamed.

"No, leave Ty alone," I calmly, yet sternly answered.

"That's it," Casey said, letting Tyler go, "I had about enough of
you."

Casey ran at full force towards me. He was about to knock me over,
when Kirk kicked Casey square in the jaw, knocking his head into the wall
with such force he blanked out for awhile.

"Whew," Kirk smiled," Now, Jamie, tell me what that was about."

"Later, Kirk." I said, as I went to see how Tyler was doing.

Tyler was huddled in a little ball crying. He looked up at me.

"Why," he asked. "What did I do to deserve this?"

	"You did nothing," I said.

Kirk and I took him to the bathroom to clean him up. Then we went
back to our parents. We all hung put for awhile, then my mother came to
both Tyler and me.

"Um, I have a surprise for the both of you," my mother smiled with
glee, "I would have given it to you both earlier, but I didn't have one for
you, Tyler. Now that I do, I have gotten you both of you jobs to
excellerate in your fields."

My mother was a public relations specialist. Whenever temporary
pr's were needed, she would take the job, which means she had hook-ups. I
took the job of a pr, like my mother, while Tyler studied in technical
engineering.

"You both will be working together for a musical group. I forget
their names, but you will meet them next week."

Later that night, in our last night at the dorms, I slept in
Tyler's dorm.

"So, you wonder who we will be working for," Tyler asked me.

We were both in his bed. My feet near his head and his feet near my
head.

"To tell you the truth," I answered, "I hope it isn't a boy band."

	"Why not?"

"Could you imagine, working day and night with guys you've have
jerked off to? It's a little embarrassing pulling a woody while telling
them what to do, when to do it, and where."

	We both laughed hard.

"Ok," Tyler said, getting off the bed and sit in his chair near my
head, "if you could work and fall in love with any guy in any boy band, who
would it be?"

I sat up. This was a good question that I haven't thought about
when taking public relations as my major. To imagine dating anybody from a
boy band was weird.

"I dunno," I answered," Maybe Nick or Drew from 98 Degrees. How
about you, Mr. Questionnaire. Who would be the lucky god?"

"Easy," Tyler smiled. "That would have to be Nick from Backstreet
Boys. He's a hottie!"

We laughed and giggled all night about who we could be working for.

The next week, We both flew to New York, where we would meet or new
bosses. We walked into a glass building and took an elevator up to the top
floor. We were met by the older gentleman with white hair.

"I have been waiting for the both of you," he smiled. "My name is
Gregory Sanders. I am the man you both will contact if need be. First, I
would like to say, Welcome. These are both very good jobs and I am sure you
both will be very hard workers, though I'd never hire straight out of
college. But seeing your resume's and grades, I am sure that you both
will be excellent. Now, James Mitchell, as you know, being assistant public
relation is only temporary. Unfortunately, the band doesn't like her and
she thinks she is just showing you the ropes for another group. And Tyler
Lakeland, you will be working under Rob Flag, head tech engineer. He is a
great guy, and your job requires you to work in the studio and on the sage
making sure everything is set for concerts. So is their any questions?"

"Um, yes sir," I manage to ask through his annoying babbling,
"Exactly who are we working for?"

	"Us, of course."

Tyler and I turned around and where shocked who was standing in
front of us.

Working for the Boys -2

"Um, yes sir," I manage to ask through his annoying babbling,
"Exactly who are we working for?"

	"Us, of course."

Tyler and I turned around and where shocked who was standing in
front of us.

Two dark guys extended their hands out to us. We shook hands as we
introduced each other.

"My name is James and this is Tyler."

"Well, we are AJ and Howie from the Backstreet boys," AJ
introduced.

The guys are hear to take you to meet everyone you should know,"
Gregory stated. "I welcome you again, and I hope you enjoy your jobs."

We smiled a little while we headed to their limo. On the way down,
I stopped Tyler for a second.

"Looks like someone is going to get their dream guy," I teased.

Tyler nudged me as we went into the limo.

AJ and Howie sat there and looked at us. That was when I decided to
break the ice.

"So, how many times have you changed your hair, AJ?"

Howie and AJ looked at me, while Tyler started to laugh. I looked a
little puzzled.

"I was just trying to break some ice here," I explained.

"Well, you will get a report on all of us, yet we know nothing
about you," AJ stated. "Where did you both go to college?"

"Well, we both went to Daniel College in England," Tyler answered.

"You guys have no accents," Howie said is curiosity.

	"Wow, observant," I smirked.

AJ and Tyler giggled while Howie smiled a little.

"We are both from the states, originally," Tyler explained. "We
just went to college there."

"Cool," AJ smiled, "How do your girlfriends feel about these jobs?"

Tyler looked shocked, but I just covered with a "We are single"
excuse, just as the door opened.

We went to the Concert area, where Tyler was going to be dropped
off. We met Rob Flag.

"Hello, you must be Tyler Lakeland," he extended his arm out to
Ty. They talked for a bit, then I told Ty we'd have dinner later. The guys
and I hopped into the car and we sped off towards the hotel.

"Can I ask you something I won't find in the files?"

The guys smiled and AJ shook his head yes.

"What is wrong with the pr now?"

"She's a bitch," Howie said flat and cold.

"Yeah," AJ agreed, "she's mean and bossy. She thinks like she is
the star and we are nothing without her. I mean no offence, but she's a
public relations person, not Janet Jackson!"

"Yeah. Then there was one time, she hit Nick square in the
face. She said she didn't mean it, but we had to do something. Management
said that had gotten a new pr to temp, we said we wanted him permanently,
and here you are."

I was shocked at the revelation. I mean a pr hitting the person she
is supposed to be protecting from the press. All her job consists of is
handling interviews and the smear campaigns.

"Aren't you guys afraid that when she does get fired, she'll go on
an all-out smear campaign to destroy you guys?"

"That is why you're here," AJ pointed out. "Your first job is to
make her stop or seem bad or something. Theresa is evil and when she is
fired to do anything to take us down. You have to protect or
credibility. Make hers look real bad."

"My first job is back-stabbing," I joked. The guys looked worried,
until I laughed. "Ok, I will do what I can."

The limo stopped again, and we were all in front of a nice
hotel. We signed in and went to the top floor, which was their private
floor. They used an elevator key and then the door opened. We walked out
and headed towards the living room. We stopped at the door near the
elevator first.

"This is your room. Theresa didn't want to room with us, and
frankly we are glad," Howie smiled.

"My stuff should be here within the next two days, so I don't have
to worry about packing now. Where are the guys and the infamous Theresa?"

"The guys should be here in a bit," answered Howie, "and as for
Theresa, I don't give a fuck."

We laughed again. I walked to my room and was shocked to see a
master bedroom with a mini fridge and a burrow. There was everything there,
and to my surprise, AJ was right behind me.

"You like it, don't you," he asked.

	"Why wouldn't I?"

"Listen, can I speak to you for a second," AJ asked with little
concern in his eyes.

I ushered him to the bed and shut the door. He sat on the bed and I
went towards the fridge for a drink.

	"What's up, guy?"

"Before you fall into his job and everything it has to offer, I
feel like I should tell you the whole Theresa story. You see, she had a
crush on me before she even got the job. When she go it, she was so excited
to be working with me."

	"That sounds cocky," I interjected.

	AJ smiled a little

"I am serious, though. I mean this girl would sneak into my room at
nights and tried to give me head and shit like that. I always pushed her
off."

"Why? Let me be frank with you, you are known as the biggest
playboy of the music industry. Why when a girl practically wants to have
sex with you, you back her off. Is she that ugly?"

"Let me finish, James. You see, I was seeing someone and she didn't
know. Nobody knew. She kept asking why I lock my door and I'd say to keep
her out, which was partly true. Well, she had gotten sick of it, and she
hid out in my room once. Then she caught us, and well, it wasn't a pretty
sight."

"Well, you know my next question," I said, looking deep into his
eyes. "AJ, who was the girl?"

"She flipped, James, because it wasn't just a girl. It was."

	BANG BANG!!!

The sound of the door scared us both. I opened the door and there
was Nick, Kevin, and Brian.

"You're the new pr?" Brian asked in anticipation.

"Afraid so," I smiled back. "I'll introduce myself in a bit, let me
just finish this up."

They all looked puzzled, then left AJ and me in my room. I cracked
the door a little.

"Hey, why don't we finish this later. Seems like I have to make a
entrance."

AJ smiled, then followed me to the living room where the guys
were. We sat and introduced ourselves.

"So, now, where is Theresa. I really want to meet her."

"No you don't," Nick chimed in.

"Yes I do, actually I am so interested in meeting her. She seems
fun!"

We all laughed until we heard the chime on the elevator. The guys
huffed and puffed as the sound of the elevator opened in the now quiet
suites. Then a beautiful redhead came off the elevator and started walking
down the hall. She stopped and looked at me like I she just showed a "what
doesn't belong here" puzzle.

"Who the fuck are you," she said in a hostile tone.

"I'm your new assistant PR guy, James Mitchell. Who the fuck are
you?"

All the guys giggled and snorted at my blunt remark.

"Um, I'm Theresa Porter, your boss."

I grabbed her hand from the side, and shook it.

"I've heard nothing but good things about you."

All the guys were laughing louder, which made Theresa get angry.

"Shut up," she yelled. "You think this is so funny, then maybe you
can laugh when I schedule a rehearsal during your break off!"

They all got a little upset.

"Excuse me," I retorted, "Don't you think that is a little harsh? I
mean they didn't do anything to you and I believe they are your
clients. The ones that pay your salary?"

"You shut up too. What I do is no concern of yours. Now get this
straight, I make the decision, they as well as you, listen and obey. If you
have a problem with it, then just quit."

"I'll do better than that. I'll stay and make your life a living
hell. Now they will have their day off and they are in charge. So if you
have a problem with that, then just quit."

You know, it's a funny sight to see the Backstreet Boys sitting on
couches with their mouths open and the eyes bulge, but it's even better
when the person you just put in place turns red as a beet and stares in
shock.

"I am going to talk to management about firing you," she
screamed. "You are not higher than me, fucker! Not at all."

Theresa headed back to the elevator. When she left, I looked back
at the guys, who were still in shock.

"You just told Theresa off," Brian informed me.

"Thank you for telling me that, I thought I was giving her pleasant
thoughts," I smiled.

"That's it," Nick jumped up and hugged me. `I want this guy as our
public relations manager."

"I second that," Howie stated as he stood on the other side of me.

"I think it's safe to say that we all do," Kevin smiled

I couldn't believe it. The Backstreet Boys wanted me to be their pr
guy. I was psyched. They made a call to Gregory and it was official. I work
for the Backstreet Boys.

That night, I met Tyler for dinner. He was so excited about his job
he hardly stopped He said that the guys were geniuses and they taught him a
lot.

"Hey, Ty. Where are you sleeping tonight," I asked in curiosity.

Silence inhabited the table for a few minutes.

	"I don't know.I forgot about it."

"Well I have a big bed and five cool roommates. Why don't you crash
with me until we leave New York?"

"Yeah, that would be very cool."

Ty and I finished up dinner and I took him back to the hotel. When
we got there, I introduced Ty to the rest of the guys. Then I took AJ to
the side and asked if he wanted to finish the conversation.

"Well, yeah, I don't want to get it off my chest. Besides, you are
really going to need to know."

AJ and I went back to his room. We both sat on the bed.

"Ok, AJ, once and for all. Who was it that Theresa caught you
with?" I asked him sternly.

AJ looked at me. I could see fear in his eyes as he held back
tears.

"James, I am gay," AJ blurted out.

"Yes, but who was it, then. One of the guys?"

	AJ nodded `yes' very slowly.

"Was it Nick," my first reaction.

"No." was all he could say.

	"Howie?"

	"No."

	"Brian?"

	"No."

	"Kevin?"

AJ was silent. Tears started a little, yet he still held a
waterfall behind his, now red eyes.

"We are in love, still. When she caught us, she immediately ran and
woke up the guys. She started saying how a bunch of fags Kevin and I
were. Nick told her to fuck off and."

"She hit him," I remembered from earlier.

"Yes. Soon we all called management and we wanted her arrested."

"Why wasn't she still arrested? Why is she still working here?
She's obviously a psycho."

"Management didn't want big publicity about this until they were
ready. You going against Theresa was a test that you passed with flying
colors. We wanted someone who was nice, yet, could handle bad people like
Theresa. All the guys, especially Kevin and I, want you to work here."

"I have one question," I pondered, "You'd never be able to tell you
and Kevin where."

"Not everyone knows about Kevin and I. Just you, Theresa, and
Nick. Everyone else thinks Theresa just went crazy, which is partially
right. Listen, James, will you take the job, please?"

"Well, We should start a new habit. Call me Jamie number
one. Number two I will take this job."

"And number three?" AJ asked very questionable.

"I need you and Kevin's help to make a smear campaign towards
Theresa."

Outside in the living room, Ty sat down next to his sex idol, Nick.

"What game are you playing," Ty asked

Nick looked at Ty and smiled.

"Marvel Comics vs. Street Fighters. You'd probably know if you
weren't staring at me," Nick smiled.

	"Sorry," Ty apologized.

Nick handed Ty the other controller.

"Come on, see if you can beat me up," Nick said with glee.

Nick one the first round, then Ty won the Second round and the
game.

"Damn," Nick said in shock. "How did you learn how to play that
good?"

"The video games use to be my life." Ty answered with a smile.

	"Why not now?"

"I decided that there are other things important," Ty said as he
laid back and closed his eyes.

Nick got up the courage and then kissed Ty on the lips. At first,
he was shocked, then he started to get into it. Their tender kiss turned
into wild hot passion. Their tongues darted at each other as Nick straddled
on top of Ty. Soon, they finally came up for air.

"I've been waiting for you to do that for two years,' Ty said while
grasping for breathe.

	"Well, wait no longer."

Nick took Ty's hand and tried to take him to his room, until he
felt a swift blow to the gut.

"Not in your life, Blondie," screeched a bitter voice.

To Be Continued.
