Almost a Kiss

"Hey Dan!"

The man just leaving the local Dairy Queen turned around and looked at
me with a question in his brown eyes. Not surprisingly, he didn't
recognize me. My insides were quaking as for the first time in almost
10 years, I got a good look at one of my old high school fantasies.

He had changed a bit since we were in high school together. Gone were
the cute cheeks and smooth athletic body of our hometown basketball star.
In his place stood a 6'1" rugged man. He obviously hadn't shaved that
morning, as his face was covered with dark stubble, which added to his
mature look. His ears now sported small silver loops, two on the right
ear and three on the left. His shoulders were broader than I remembered.
I could detect a small belly, obviously obtained from the beer and parties
he attended in recent years, after his short career in the military. And
just peeking over the unbuttoned top of his brown polo shirt were a few
strands of the same dark hair that covered his head.

. . . But he still had that gorgeous smile with those great luscious lips.
Coupled with his deep brown eyes, tinged now with a slight edge from the
past years, he still caused me to hold my breath in anticipation.

"Do you remember me? It's Jeff, Jeff Marks."

His eyes raised and he paused. I guess I had changed as well. No longer
was I the tall, skinny kid who graduated 10 years ago. I had gotten a
little taller, gained some weight, and developed some muscle on my six-foot
frame. My old glasses had been replaced by contacts. I had just recently
lightened my hair to an almost bright blonde. In my left ear, I sported a
small silver stud, which would have never been found on my conservative,
younger self. The only things that remained the same were my deep blue eyes
and quick smile.

Suddenly I could see him smile with recognition, and he extended his hand,
"The Markster? How's it going' man?!? I didn't recognize you!"

"Yeah, it's been a few years," I said with a wide grin. It always made me
grin when I'd make a brief stop in our small West Coast town and hear
a former schoolmate call out my nickname of 10-plus years ago.

He smiled a little and then turned to the woman he had with him. She was
holding onto a small child with the same brown eyes and hair of my old high
school buddy.

"Jeff, this is Sandy. And this here," he grunted as he picked up the small
boy, "is my youngest, Danny."

We chatted a bit as we were both leaving, and stepped outside. He was
interested in my new life as an attorney on the East Coast. I was surprised
to hear that after the military and his divorce to his wife Jackie, he was
going to school to be a hairdresser. Quarterback Dan? Hairdresser? I
inwardly grinned, but kept it to myself as we caught up on the past seven
years and all our former classmates.

As I turned to go, I handed him a business card, knowing he'd never get to
my end of the states. We shook, and my knees almost collapsed as I felt his
strong grip and thick, work-hardened hands. Looking into his eyes, it took
all my resistance to not grab him in a bear hug and kiss that smile off his
face. I slowly turned around, got in my car and drove off.

As I was driving to my parents for my sister's graduation party, thoughts
of Dan took me back to two events that still fuel my dreams . . . .

-- The Shower Room --

As a junior in high school, I was definitely not a star basketball player,
at least not to the head coach. My hustle and hard work just didn't
translate into the star talent he desired for his team. So, I was, quite
thankfully, relegated to being the only junior on the J.V. team.

Much to the surprise of everyone, including my prick of a head coach, I
flourished with the sophomores and few freshman on my team. Halfway through
the season, with all but a handful of us flunking off the team, I became one
of the starting five, and a real leader on the team. Despite that position,
I spent most of my time joking with the younger players, never getting the
big head of most of my classmates on the Varsity team. Besides, some of my
J.V. team mates were cuter . . . I was in heaven.

As is usual with these sports teams, the J.V. players had to practice before
even the cows were up at five a.m. Stumbling down the court, and trying to
concentrate never really came easy, but we did it like the good troopers we
were. Much to my delight and the head coach's dislike, I was also a member
of the Jazz Band, and would have to leave most days half-way through the
practice. That quirk in my schedule provided me with fantasy material for
many years to come.

One fine morning, I headed down to the locker room to shower and get ready
for band practice. As I tossed my shoes, shorts and practice jersey into my
locker, the only other sound was of a shower going in the community showers.
Still somewhat sore, I grabbed a towel and headed toward the steam rising
from the room. At that point I almost stopped and turned away.

There was Dan, facing the wall, soaping up his chest. What a sight! The
hot water was streaming down his smooth chest and stomach, causing his deep
brown pubic bush to glisten, before it cascaded over his soft cock. Limp,
his prick jutted out from his large, round, furry balls, cleaving the stream
of water in two.

I gulped and moved to a shower on the other side of the room, just hoping he
wouldn't glance over and see my hardening prick. After a few tense moments,
I managed to get it under control and turned around, to see him facing me with
a smile on his face. He tilted his head back to rinse his hair, and I just
stared at the perfect body: developing pecs, bulging biceps, flat stomach,
muscled but trim legs, and that cock . . . .

I had to turn around again, and quickly rushed through my shower so I could
get out of there. As I stepped out and started drying off, Dan looked across
the four-foot-high wall which separated the shower from the drying area, while
he stood under the cascading water.

"What're you up to, Jeff?"

"Band practice," I mumbled.

"You get to miss basketball practice?" he queried, while his brown eyes stared
into my blue ones.

I paused before responding. "Yeah, Smitty threw a fit but Daniels doesn't
mind." [Smitty--actually Smith--was our prick of a head coach; Daniels, the
J.V. coach.]

"Good for you. Smitty was always a cocksucking piece of shit."

"Yeah," I stated with surprise. "You don't like him?"

"No, he's shitty to you and everyone else."

I didn't know what to say, I was so surprised. I glanced down as he
absent-mindedly tugged at his cock, like he always did. My own cock started
to rise, thankfully hidden by the wall and my tightly gripped towel. Finally,
I managed to focus, and asked, "You ready for the game on Friday?"

"Yeah, I guess. We still suck, but it should be okay. How `bout you guys?"

Dan referred to the fact that the Varsity team, of which he was the star
guard, had been on a 10-game losing streak. The J.V. team, however, was
still undefeated to that point.

"Not too bad. Should be okay. . . . Oh man, I have to go."

His eyes raised in surprise, and said quietly, "Okay. Talk with you later?"

I left him there, and got dressed. As I turned to leave, I quietly moved
toward the room for one more look. Through the steam, I could see Dan
standing under the water, his head tilted back, and slowly rocking. I stared
for a few seconds, and hightailed it out of there before he saw me.

-- Hard Favor --

The next major epoch in my relationship with Dan occurred the following year
when we were seniors. According to school rules, seniors could not play on
J.V. But even though I assumed I'd get kicked off the team, we didn't have
enough players so I stayed on another year. Worked my ass off, but still spent
the season on the bench. Oh well.

Well, on one of the last away games we had that season, I almost revealed my
crush on Dan to him. I was one of the last of the team out of the gym, as I
had some student council and FFA (Future Farmers of America) matters to attend
to prior to the game. As I rushed around the school building toward the bus,
Jackie--the future divorced wife mentioned earlier--yelled out of a window to
me, "Jeff!"

I screeched to a halt and called out, "Yeah?"

"Come here," she demanded.

I quickly walked up to the window, where Jackie and a bunch of her fellow
cheerleaders were laughing, "What?"

"We're not going to the game tonight. So can you give Dan something for
me?"

"Sure," I smiled. "Hell," I thought, "she's being nice for once, so why
not?"

I walked up to the window and stared up at her and her group of giggling
girlfriends. All big hair, pink lips, and heavy blue eye shadow. Pretty but
not too friendly. I tried not to shudder as she leaned out the window
toward me. But I did jump when she gave me a quick peck on the cheek.

"Give him a big kiss and tell him I love him."

Not surprisingly, they all laughed when I blushed.

"Yeah, sure," I stated with a quick laugh as I walked away.

"Be sure to give it to him!" she loudly called out after me. "Or I'll get
you!" More laughing followed me toward the bus.

The whole way to the game, I couldn't concentrate on basketball or anything,
except the favor. "Should I? Will I get killed? Would I rather give Dan
a peck and get hit, or face Jackie's wrath? Maybe I can just kiss my hand
and pat him on the cheek to pass it on? No, that's lame!" Over and over,
the same thoughts kept running through my head while I stared out the
window.

Suddenly, I realized that Dan had moved from his rowdy friends, and was
sitting next to me.

"What's wrong bud?"

"Oh nothing . . . ." I murmured.

"You sure?" he spoke quietly, actually looking concerned. It was a bit of a
shock, as that was not his usual boisterous nature.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. But . . . can I talk to you real quick when we get off
the bus?"

"Yeah, no prob," he said, and stood up with a clap on my shoulder.

I continued with my thoughts while I watched the farms drift by. When the
bus finally stopped, I sat there for awhile just gaining my nerve and then
walked off the bus. I stood to the side and waited for the others to get
off as well. Suddenly, there he was.

With my throat tight as could be, I managed to croak out, "Dan."

He turned around with a look of annoyance, until he realized it was me.

"Can I talk with you a sec?"

He turned back to the other guys and told them we'd be right there. When
he faced me again, I just looked into his gorgeous eyes and almost lost
my nerve. With my heart pounding in my ears, I said, "Jackie wanted me to
give you something. Hope you're not mad."

And with that said, I quickly grabbed his shoulders and gave him a quick peck
on the cheek. It was very fast, but my lips felt like they were on fire,
feeling his skin against mine.

"She loves you man," I said, wanting to add "and so do I, buddy."

Thankfully it was very dark so he couldn't see me blushing. For a second,
he looked confused and looked deep in my eyes. Then with a quiet, "Thanks,"
he turned and walked toward the gym and the waiting game. I followed at a
distance, wondering what I'd done and what would happen.

Later, it appeared that he had dismissed it, giving me the normal pat on the
ass for my few minutes of tough defense on the court. I felt a little better,
just glad it was over.

-- Present --

As I turned into my parents' drive, I finished thinking of the man that I
secretly wished was mine so many years ago. Relishing the memories, I turned
off the car, and just sat for a moment. Adjusted my still-hard prick and got
out to face the real world alone.
