goes:

The singing contest in Nashville came and went without Destiny being
included.  But, something perhaps even better and more amazing came her
way, when Tom T. Hall's younger friend signed her to a contract with
Mercury Records.  The label rush-released her first single, a cover of
"When You Come Back to Me Again," which immediately hit on the country
charts and crossed over to the pop and R&B charts as well via a great remix
version.  Suddenly the controversy was behind her, and Destiny Rose was
Nashville's newest and hottest young star.

With much of Pleasant View watching on TV, and her parents and Gunnar all
seated in the front row along with Tom T. Hall himself, Destiny received
both a standing ovation and an encore for "When You Come Back to Me Again"
during her debut performance on the famed "Grand Ole Opry."

"Thank you all so much," Destiny said, tears of joy filling her eyes as she
smiled.  "I'd like to introduce to you now a lady you knew way back when –
and a lady who should have gotten to stand on this stage way before now, as
well.  Ladies and gentlemen, my grandmother, Jenny Faye Smith!"

Jenny Faye, who had met Destiny and the rest of her family earlier
backstage, joined Destiny Rose in bringing down the house by a duet version
encore of "When You Come Back."

Brad and Jack were lying cuddled in one another's arms in their big
four-poster bed in the inn that night, smiling as they watched it all on
live TV.

"I'm so happy for her," Brad said.

"Me too, darlin'," Jack drawled.  "Now come here, you!"

As Brad and Jack moved into one another's arms and began kissing after
shutting off the TV, the faintest hint of early fall was coming through the
open window of their bedroom.  Life was good in Pleasant View, Kentucky in
Septemeber, 2014.
