				 Chapter X

Salvador laid in his bed, gazing up at the celling. Erik and Murali
had fallen asleep, and he pondered at these thoughts that swirled in his
mind. He thought that maybe he overstayed his welcome, the thought of
leaving did cross his mind and he sat up. He watched the tranquil faces
and could not help but smile at Erik with his arm embraced tightly around
Murali's body. A new feeling had arose inside him, he felt an affection
towards them both. He proceeded silently to pack his things and as he walk
towards the door he looked down at Erik. He did not know what compelled him
, but he leaned down and kissed the soft cheek. With a last glance he went
into the hallway and pressed the button for the elevator. When the metal
doors slid open he entered with his head down and watched the doors close,
a hand then grasped the door and pushed the doors back. Erik stood looking
at Salvador with solemn eyes, he entered the elevator without taking his
eyes off Salvador's.

"Can I join ya?" Erik gave a sad smile

Salvador nodded and saw Erik press the button for the top
floor. They rode in silence and when they reached the top, Erik walke dout
first and held out his hand in invitation. Salvador took it and Erik led
him to the window and two chairs. The top floor served as an observation
deck and the wall was a series of windows that overlooked the city in four
directions. Erik pulled the seats together and invited Salvador to sit. He
took Salvador's hand in his and gazed at him intently.

"Ya know... when I saw you walk out it made me afraid." Erik squeezed the
soft hand "You're the reason I came here for Murali and if I lose ya now
then ... I wouldn't be whole. Sal, why did ya want to leave did I do
something wrong?"

Salvador watched the handsome face fill with sorrow, he choked up and could
not respond. Erik waited and finally continued "Sal, I know that I have not
treated ya so well and I always isolate you. But it doesn't mean I don't
want ya." Erik wiped his face "I really need ya, please promise ya won't
go." Erik then embraced him.

Salvador hesitantly hugged back and Erik kissed his cheek. "Sal, when ya
kissed me... why did ya do it?"

"I have many feelings...." Salvador let his head fall.

"Sal... I like ya and Murali wants you to be with us. So please stay with
me and Murali." Erik stroked Salvador's cheek. "Can you come back to the
room?"

Salvador nodded and Erik embraced him tightly and grabbed his bags. "Sal,
you been so accomodating and this is what I can do for now."

Salvador followed Erik back to the room and found Murali sitting on
the bed, Erik placed the bags near the bed and sat on the bed with
Murali. They both patted the center and moved over, Salvador sat in the
middler and felt Murali and Erik hold one hand each. Murali kissed
Salvador's cheek and they soon pulled Salvador to lay with them, they
drifted off to sleep.

Erik awoke to Murali's fingers running up and down his bare chest,
gently tracing his abs and nipples. He looked over and saw Salvador's bags
still at the place he put them. Murali peeked his head out from under the
covers and flicked his tongue across the tip. Erik smiled and embraced
Murali close, he ran his hand through the soft hair. Murali began sucking
his nipple and then alternated between each side.

Erik let out a moan "Not now Murali, or else I'll end up doing ya when Sal
comes back."

Only moments after he said this that Salvador walked in with three
trays of covered food, Lavanya followed a step behind with delicious
looking smoothies. Salvador covered Lavanya's eyes as Murali and Erik
emerged from under the covers, Erik and Murali quickly ran into the
bathroom. Erik and Murali showered and freshened up, they emerge from the
steamy room to find Lavanya sipping a smoothie and Salvador eating a fruit
salad. Lavanya smiled and embraced Murali and Erik, her smile quickly faded
as she sat both of them down.

"Erik, my parents know you are here and they wish to meet with
you... alone." She took a breath "They wish to meet with you right away,
at the restaurant that you met with Murali. Murali and Salvador , you will
be spending the day with me."

Erik gave a look of shock " You're going to leave me alone?"

Lavanya made a "You're S.O.L" face " I can help you with customs but I
cannot be there."

"Better than nothing." Erik muttered.

Murali held Erik's hand and Salvador patted his shoulder, Lavanya began her
lecture "It is customary to give gifts when invited and native items are
always loved."

"Native?"

"Things from your native country but my parents think your american."
Murali added.

"Would you happen to have anything like that?" Lavanya asked.

"Yeah, I figured I might need a gift and I brought this." Erik picked up
his bag and withdrew a rather elegantly woven lace table cloth. It was
white with the Maltese cross etched as the dominant pattern, it looked hand
stitched due to the intricate work and borders. "My mom made it, will this
do?"

Lavanya's eyes bulged in awe "Of course."

"Encisador (Lovely)." Salvador ran his hand down the soft surface.

"I am sorry but we must go and you as well Erik." Lavanya said "I am sure
you will do fine."

Erik nodded and received a hug from both Salvador and Murali. "Dios te
bendiga (god bless you)." Salvador whispered.

They departed and Erik was left alone in the hotel room, he saw
that Lavanya left the address and he called a cab. He was soon driving
through the cow ridden streets. He arrived at the restaurant, he saw a
couple standing in the lobby with faces of conviction. They were most
certainly Murali's parents, his father was a little shorter than Erik with
skin on the lighter side. His hair was styled into a neat professional
hairdo and his kind brown eyes contrasted with his expressionless face, he
was handsome and there was a hint of gray just above the prominent red dot
on his forehead. He wore a light blue dress shirt with black
slacks. Murali's mother wore a elegant pink sari, her face was beautiful
despite the small wrinkles, her long black hair was tied in a braid with
strands of gray. Her eyes were brown and she too wore a red dot upon her
forehead, she wore glasses and her body was slightly plump.

Murali's father extended his hand "You must be Erik." His accent was barely
noticeable

Erik shook his hand and got a firm handshake, he then received a slight bow
of the head from Murali's mother. Murali's father had no expression still
"I am Roshan and this is my wife Padma, we have a private room." He turned
and Erik followed him up the stairs.

They entered a private room decorated very similar to the other
rooms, Erik sat on one side of the table and Murali's parents on the other
like police. Erik took out the wrapped tablecloth and gave it Murali's
father who with a slight smile took the gift and unwrapped it.

"This is quite a lovely tablecloth, hand stitched too. I did not know they
still did this in the U.S." Roshan ran his fingers down the fabric.

"That is not from America sir, it's from my country." Erik replied

Roshan and Padma looked at each other in surprise "You're not from the
U.S?" Padma asked.

"No, ma'am."

"Then we have been wrong, do you mind telling us about yourself?" Roshan's
eyebrows were raised in a curious expression.

"I was born in a small country called Malta, I changed my name to Erik when
I immigrated to the U.S. My real name is Nazzarenu, that tablecloth is a
specialty of my people." Padma took the tablecloth and gently folded it
into her purse.

"Do you mind if I call you by that?" Roshan looked at Erik with a smile.

"No sir. You can me that."

"Nazzarenu, my wife and I discussed our involvement with your relationship
with our son... and we have been wrong in our judgement. Homosexuality is
in a way a taboo in India, and remains an underlying issue.... We believed
that it was best for Murali to stop his relationship with you. We thought
it was best for him but in reality we did not wish to face shame... Despite
what my son thinks of us, we do care about him and realized that it is
wrong to supress him. I admire that you came for him. It troubles me that
my son is gay but with time I will come to accept it. Will you please
accept our apology and take care of our son?"

Each word Roshan said gave rise of happiness within Erik, he could
believe this could happen. He had the urge to jump out the chair and prance
about the room. He remained seated and saw that Roshan held out a jar of
what appeared to be yogurt and honey.

"This is usually for a wedding but it is customary for the bride's father
to give the groom the gift of honey and yogurt to show acceptance. This is
my way of showing that I trust you with my son." Erik took the gift with
gratitude and to his amazement Roshan and Padma stood and he was met with
embrace as he stood himself.

"Grazzi." He gave a smile and Roshan returned it.

"Would you like to spend the night at our home? It will be better than a
hotel." Padma gave a pleading look.

"If it is alright with you as well Mr. Khan."

"I have no problem with it." Roshan smile grew.

Erik took out his phone and dialed "Hey Murali, it's Erik I got some news
for ya."

Roshan and Padma were very kind to allow Erik and Murali to share a
room, the night was quiet and had a tranquil feel. Erik walked about the
halls exploring the house. Murali had fallen asleep and Erik wondered where
they had gone that afternoon, a faint light was seen at the end of the hall
and Erik felt his curiosity compel him to walk towards it. Salvador sat on
his bed cross legged and looked at his smiling parents, they spoke rapidly
and Erik found it hard to follow. Erik opened the door and Salvador looked
up and waved him over. He gave a good bye and closed his laptop, and gave
Erik a shy smile.

"It is not good to eavesdrop, you espia." Salvador laughed

"Sorry." Erik scratched his head "I wanted to talk to ya."

"Per que? (for what)"

"La nostra amistat (our friendship)."

"Si quieres (if you want)."

Erik sat on the bed "Sal, I've been feeling guilty about how you've been
distant. Ya keep on trying to leave and I figured it's because I been too
busy with Murali."

Salvador shook his head "Jo no te dono la culpa ( I do not blame you), I am
just a friend and he is your lover of course you would pay more attention
to him."

"Sal, ya need to stop being so selfless. It's okay to want to think about
yourself sometimes. I really do care about you and I want to ask ya
something."

"What is that?"

"Well it's Murali's birthday in a few weeks. I was wondering if you could
sing at the party?"

"Why me?" Salvador gave a curious glance.

"Well, it's just ya got such a nice voice and I need ya to be there. You've
been the thing that kept us together. I have the perfect song too."

"What song?"

"Mi Consentida (My Spoiled One) by David Bustamante. Ya look like him,
sound good to ya?"

"Perfecto." Salvador gave a wink.

"Thanks Sal, tu eres lo mejor del mundo (you're the best in the world."
Erik embraced Salvador tightly.

"De nada, now go to bed it is late." Salvador gasped through the embrace.

"Okay, just to let ya know you're a real angel." Erik smiled and swear he
saw a blush in the faint light.

__________

The next morning was very loud and was filled with chatter, Roshan
had taken quite an interest in Salvador and Erik especially. Padma and
Lavanya made breakfast while Murali and a visiting Raj sat in
silence. Roshan was fascinated by Salvador's extensive family history that
ran all the way back to the era of the Inquisition, how his ancestors were
the feared and venerated conquistadors, who waged war to reclaim Spain as
their own. It was a heroic tale of philantrophy and national pride that
made Roshan's eyes sparkle in amazement. Erik was then turned to for
stories, and Erik recalled his family during World War II and the hundrerds
of years of occupations from various countries. Padma came to her husband
and told him about a chore that needed to be done in order to assist Erik
and Salvador from the onslaught of questions. Erik gave a sigh of relief as
Murali chuckled from the table. Raj gave a glare and walked out of the
room, he did not take well to his parents acceptance of Murali and Erik's
relationship. Padma came and gave Erik a rather large potato sandwich and
patted his head, She then turned to Salvador.

"Salvador would you please come with me to the store?"

Salvador nodded and Padma clapped her hands excitedly "Come Come, we go
now." Erik tried hard to not smile at her thick accent.

They soon departed and Murali joined Erik on the couch. "Can we spend the
day together?"

Lavanya cleared her throat "Sorry he is coming with me."

Murali looked at her "For what?"

"Go spend the day with Raj or father, you have him all your life. I have
him for only a few more days!" Lavanya grabbed Erik's hand and Erik
finished his sandwich and was dragged to the front door.

"I'll see ya later!" Erik managed to yell before the door slammed shut.

Murali shook his head and felt his lust come to attention, he and
Erik had not had sex in ages and he prayed that his family will lay off
soon. He climbed upstairs to find his father watching a soccer game , Raj
exited his room with a rather shady expression and went out the front
door. His father gave Murali a look of confusion.

"Murali why don't you go out?"

"With who?"

"You do not need someone to go somewhere, go to bollywood or go wander the
markets. Or you can watch the India and Pakistan game with me?" His father
said the last option as if it were poison.

"I will go then." Murali grabbed his keys and left as well.

Murali attempted to text both Erik and Salvador but neither
replied, he walked briskly down to the market and saw Raj walking at a
distance further away. He saw Raj round the corner and Murali found that
odd, that alley led to a rather shady part of the city. With curiosity he
followed Raj, he entered a dark alley with pink tarps forming canopies and
pink lights flashed. Women stood at the doors to various shops and gave
flirty looks, he saw Raj round another corner and saw men instead of women
at the doors. Murali felt compelled to shout out, but did not have the
evidence. As he walked down the alley, men groped at their crotches and
Murali kept his head down. Raj entered a brothel at the far end and Murali
waited for a few moments then entered. The brothel was rather upscale, with
hard wood floors and lavish decorations. A woman stood at the counter and
was focused on her magazine in front of her, Murali slipped by and entered
a long hallway with various doors on each side. With a rise of conviction
and conclusion he saw raj dressed in a robe enter the room at the far
end. Raj was indeed gay and Murali felt a satisfaction rise up in him. He
felt a tap on his shoulder and whirled around, the woman at the counter
glared at him.

"Can I help you?" Her voice was deep almost male in tone.

"No, I was browsing."

"If you wanted to browse our men we have a book at the desk."

"I am sorry."

"Please leave , I am doing business and my customers do not like
spies. OUT!"

With a sense of accomplishment Murali left the brothel and headed
toward the market.

			     End of Chapter X

I am sorry for this one being rather short but I'm in what they
call a writers rut. That's why I'm calling upon you my readers for your
input. What should happen to our leading men? I will be thinking about this
story and I am sure with a glass of sangria, some pomergranate and mangoes
will do me some good. As always please write me and sorry for the long
wait. I've been moving and my family is rather nosy, but anyhoo keep those
emails coming!
