    Almost 3 months had passed and there had been no other calls from the
Elder when the phone rang I answered the call and it was Elder Sorenson;
hello Clayton how are you today? I'm blessed sir, how might I help
you. That young couple that lives near you how are they doing. His question
threw me for a minute; there are several couples that live near me sir. Oh
yes, Micah's cousin and his partner. Izaiah and Zeak sir, they are doing
fine finished their entire classes and their house is ready, they are just
waiting for someone that needs a home. Well tell them if they are ready we
will bring the children by in the morning at 10:30 am, a girl 3 years old
and a boy 3 months old, parents died in an accident with no relations
living. Their names are Eve and Josiah, he gave me their sizes and said;
they need a fresh start in life, too much loss for any child to suffer;
they will be ready and waiting sir. I hung up the phone and hollered Isla
come in here ASAP. She ran into my office and said; what's wrong
Clayton. Can you call Izaiah and Zeak and have them report to the office
ASAP. Zeak is in S.I. and Izaiah is in Belmopan on deliveries it may be a
while, Isla have them either wrap their deliveries up in 15 minutes or tell
the customer they will return tomorrow and delivery charge will be waved
and leave. No ifs or butts about it. As she turned to leave the office she
stopped, turned around and said; you're kidding, it can't be, is it for
real. I said; yes Isla now go and get them soon to be parents back here. I
heard her make the calls and she was all business about the calls. She came
back into my office and said; so what's up what do we need in the way of
balloons, no balloons you and the rest can wait and find out when they find
out I'll put it on the PA system here and at the plant. That is just cold
Clayton but I love it. Isla when the first arrives have him wait outside my
office until the other shows up and send them in my office and close the
door. Zeak came in first and was told to wait, he was all over the chair
you would have thought he had ants in his pants, 15 minutes later Izaiah
walked in and Isla sent them into my off and told them to have a seat she
closed the door, I turned on the PA/intercom system because my office was a
sound suppressed room they couldn't hear the announcement. They sat down
and I hung up the phone, Izaiah and Zeak as you know we have not had the
turnout with child placement program that we wanted, even though you have
made the adjustments to your lives and home I'm sorry be we aren't going to
be able to place a child in your home I got the call from the Elder this
morning, Izaiah hung his head down and Zeak said; then a child wasn't meant
for us then so we will have to be happy that we found each other. Izaiah
and Zeak let me ask you a question do you think 2 children will fit in your
home neither, said a word they didn't understand my question. What did you
say Clayton asked; Zeak? What I said was; that tomorrow morning at 10:30 am
3 year old Eve and 3 month old Josiah will be here, if you want to give
them a place in your heart and home. Izaiah suddenly came out of his shock
and hollered as loud as he could, he jumped up and grabbed Zeak and started
hollering I'm a Dad, I'm a Dad, I'm a Dad, Zeak we're parents. The door
flew open and Isla, Zach and Micah rushed into my office all of them
screaming as loud as they could, you could hear the celebration going on
all over the Giving community and Lumber plant site. Also you two can take
the day off; here are their sizes, Micah you and Zach take the new parents
and go shopping, they will need everything for a 3 year old girl and a 3
month old boy. Isla said; I have a lot of baby items they can use if that
will help. They left the office loaded up in the van and headed out to
S.I. to do some shopping. I made the announcement on the PA system that we
were knocking off at 2:00 pm because there would be a baby shower at 6:30
pm in the Child Learning Center and everyone would attend. Isla said; has
anyone ever told you that you can be cold as ice. I looked at her and said;
yes he has on several occasions. The next day arrived so very fast and the
children arrived with the Elders, Little Eve was dressed in a simple
traditional Mennonite style dress and Josiah was in his carrier. The
massive 6'6" Izaiah just melted and went to his knees he took Eve into his
arms and told her that she and her brother were now at their forever home,
Zeak took Josiah from the elders wife and said; we will care for, love and
defend these precious gifts from God until the end of times. The
celebration began. The children in need began to come into almost weekly
and sometimes 2-3 times a week, over the next year over 75 children were
placed in the Giving community, 250 total children found forever their
homes thanks to the program it was a success. The Elder and his wife just
showed up at my office and requested to speak to me Isla showed them in, I
said; how may I help you Elder Sorenson. We have a favor to ask of you and
Micah if you are up to it, how is young Adam doing are there any problems
with his placement in your home and lives. Not anything that we can't
handle, Elder Sorenson I responded. A knock came at the door it was Isla,
I'm sorry to disturb you, I know you're in meeting but there was a problem
at the child center. Elder Sorenson will you excuse me for a minute, to
which he said; its fine I'm interested in seeing how this problem is
handled. Isla showed in a very proud strong willed young lady, Makayla
stood there with her hands placed on her hips, I told her to stand there
proper to which she crossed arms in front of her next was Adam he stood
beside her, they were both in their pink camo that was very dirty. As they
stood there I asked; Makayla, what was the problem at the center that
warranted this meeting. Makayla started out that they were on the
playground playing together when Galen walked up to Adam and called him a
pussy, I stood up and said; you're not allowed to speak to him like that
and never do you say that dirty name to him again, so he said it 4 more
times and asked me what was I going to do about it, so I knocked him on his
ass jumped on top of him and began to whip his butt, but he was bigger than
me so Adam had to help me teach him a lesson that you don't make fun of
people that are different than you, after all he's the one with bright red
hair and a face covered with those spots. Makayla they are called freckles
and I'm sure if you stop and listen you will find that the other kids make
fun of him and the way he looks. I want both of you to go back with Isla to
the center and apologize to Galen and write "I will not fight" 100 times,
to which she responded; that's not fair he started it, 250 times young
lady, now you two leave here before I make it 500 times. They walked out of
the office, before Isla left I asked; can you have Galen's parents come in
for a meeting this afternoon. I apologized to the Elder and his wife about
the interruption, now how can Micah and I help you. Elder Sorenson touched
his wife's sleeve and she spoke up, and said; we have for you a newborn
little girl who is need of your and Micah's special kind of love, she is 3
day's old blonde hair and blue eyes she was born with Downs Syndrome,
according to the Doctor's a mild case but it is still Downs and was
rejected by her birth family as a mistake she is yet un-named so that's up
to Micah and you if you will take her. I responded that there wasn't a
question about it; I pushed the intercom to Micah's office at the plant. He
responded; how can I help you, Micah can you come to my office, to which he
responded; I'm busy at this time I'll be there later. I snapped back in a
gruff tone, Micah get yourself to my office now! And I turned off the
intercom system. In a few minutes Micah stormed into my office and said;
what was so important that you couldn't wait for a few hours, we're busy at
the plant. I motioned for him to turn around; as he did he saw Elder
Sorenson and his wife sitting there on the settee. He began to stutter and
apologized for his manners and asked for forgiveness. Isla came to the door
and said; Clayton they are here, well then show them in Isla. In walked a
nurse carrying an infant carrier with a coverlet on it. Elder Soren said; I
would like for you to meet your new daughter Elder Micah, the nurse handed
the carrier to Micah who sat it on the desk, she is going to need a strong
name said the Elder. I spoke up and said; her name is easy Micah looked at
me in shock, her name is Elizabeth it is a strong, proud and honorable
name, and it was also the Elders wife's name. I had found out a while back
that there were only sons and grandsons in their family no girls had been
born in two generations. The Elder took his wife's hand in his and said;
well then Elizabeth it is, and they excused themselves from my office, his
wife was all smiles with tears in her eyes. Micah look at me and said; what
about Adam, how do you think he's going to take the news that he is a big
brother, He will do just fine Micah he's stronger that you realize; he is
tough as nails when he has to be and gentle as a lamb at other times and
who's favorite color is pink camo, which brings me to another problem
Micah; your son and Makayla got into a fight together at the center
today. Why did they fight? No, they didn't fight each other, it seems that
there is a young man by the name of Galen who was making fun of Adam's pink
camo calling him a pussy and to put it like Makayla said; I quote "We beat
his ass". They are now having to wright down 250 times "I will not fight",
it was 100 times but because of her stubbornness it is now 250 times. Micah
leaned over and kissed me and said; have I told you how very lucky I'm to
have you in my life. To which I responded and don't you ever forget it my
darling husband and you are mine; together we can do anything. I called
Isla into my office and said; handle everything here for the rest of the
day; we are going home and one hour send for someone to bring Adam to the
house, tell him his Daddy and I need to talk to him and other than that he
is to be told nothing at all. At 6:00 I need the family to come to the
house and Isla say nothing to them. Are you kidding me the whole office is
buzzing already they are just waiting for your and Micah's word to spread
it all over the Community. Fine tell them to not to tell the kids but come
by for a visit after 6:30 tonight, the Family is first. Micah and I left
the office him carrying Elizabeth we went to the house and carried her to
her room and he placed her into her bassinette. We eased out of the bedroom
and sat in the living room talking when I heard a knock at the door, Micah
answered the door it was the child center and Adam at the door Micah told
Adam to come in and thanked the worker, Adam slowly walked into the room
until Micah said; stop right there young man which he did. Adam just knew
he was in trouble. I said; Adam come over here and sit down between your
daddy and me we need to talk, Micah sat down and placed Adam between us I
started do you remember when we said that maybe if you were a very good
young man, one day you might get a little brother or sister to live here
with you, Adam suddenly burst into tears and said he was sorry for fighting
he would never ever do it again but please don't keep me from being a big
brother. Micah picked up Adam and hugged him to calm him down, I said;
Adam, its ok honey you are doing just fine and because you proved to God
how you protected your cousin Makayla when you had to. He has decided to
send you a little sister to watch over and protect. Adam looked at me and
said; really he is, do we wait here or do we go and pick her up
somewhere. Micah said; Adam if you are very quiet and promise not to wake
her up you can go to her room and see her. REALLY SHE"S HERE! Adam shouted
and flew out of Micah arms running to the spare rooms door he carefully
opened the door and walked into the room we followed him in, Adam walked up
to Elizabeth's bassinette and watched her sleep, he said; she is a special
child sent to us be God and was delivered by the Lady Angel isn't she. I
said; yes she is Adam I want you to listen to me, her name is Elizabeth and
she is very special and she will need your help in life, you must always
watch over her. Poppa I know she is special and she looks different from
others because God made her that way, but if anyone like Galen makes fun of
her Makayla and I will beat their asses. Micah had to leave the room before
he laughed out loud and woke her up. With that said; I decided that it was
time to leave the room to greet the people that would soon be there. We
were sitting on the sofa when came a knock at the door, Adam will you see
who's at the door, he opened the door and said; Poppa it's the Lady Angel,
I walked up and there stood Elder and Mrs. Sorenson, Adam that is the Elder
and his Mrs. Sorenson. No Poppa it's the Lady Angel that is sent by God to
carry the Lost and special children to their forever families, she brought
me to you and Daddy Micah and now she has brought me my new special baby
sister Elizabeth, he ran and hugged her as hard as his little arms would
let him. He said; please, come in she is asleep now but you can see her
anyways and he grabbed their hands and led them into the
house. Mrs. Sorenson remarked she had been called many things in her life
but this was the first time she was called an Angel. I said; some Angels
just wear their wings on the inside hidden from all but God and very
special children. Elder Sorenson said; Amen to that quote. The night was
very busy and we were very tired by the end of the evening. The last person
left the house and Adam was exhausted but wasn't ready to give it up, Micah
was holding Elizabeth in on arm with the other around Adam was snuggled up
tight against him when I said; Look over here Daddy and took a photo of the
three of them. This one is going on my desk Micah said I want one too. As
we settled down and got into bed I asked Micah; you want to fool around big
boy. He said; I'm really tired tonight, I started to laugh and said; its
official we are an old married couple too tired for a little roll in the
sack. Micah started to laugh also he kissed me and snuggled up next to me
until 2:30 am when I heard Elizabeth cry out on the baby monitor. I started
to get up when I noticed Micah wasn't in the bed, I got up and went to
Elizabeth's room just to find the big guy sitting in the rocker giving her
a bottle I stood at the door and watched, he noticed me standing there and
said; I've got this one. Micah I love you I said, and went back to bed I
felt the bed move when he got back into it, he scooted up behind me and
started to make love to me, a slow gentle tender love that most people only
yearn for but never find after he finished we stayed together and drifted
to sleep. At 6am sharp the baby alarm went off and Micah said; this ones on
you Poppa.
