Previously

Later, Lucas was cleaned up and he was very clean but still hard when they
left the bathroom. Robert promised to take care of that later, BUT NOT
NOW. They had things to do. They both laughed and left their room with arms
over each others shoulders.

"Now time for list making. Brett and Paul will be here sometime early this
afternoon. Paul told me that he would phone my cell when they were about an
hour away. So we can go out and get some things done and not have to worry
about them not being able to get in the house."

The call came when they were in a wonderful Italian delicatessen where they
bought cheese, dried sausage, salami, potato salad and some prepared
ratatouille. Lunch was going to be a feast especially with a bottle of
wine from the dads' wine cellar. They hurried home and a short time later
the door bell rang. The guys had arrived.

There were hugs and welcomes. They were told to take their things to their
room and come down for a great lunch.

Brett arrived first. "Your dads are amazing. They didn't have to buy us a
queen bed."

"You tell them that later and I can bet that they will say that the bed was
old and they wanted a bigger bed for any guest who stayed with them. They
are amazing and I know them very well."

Present

Paul sighed, "Great lunch. I have never had ratatouille before. It and
everything else was great. A really good way to start the holidays. Thanks"

It was Brett who continued. "My family never eats anything like
this. Italian cuisine is foreign and almost suspect except for pizza and
spaghetti. That was delicious. Never eaten eggplant in any form; the
ratatouille was really tasty."

"You know I have a really special recipe for it. We could make some for the
Christmas Eve feast. My dads and Momma would love it. It is good cold or
hot."

Brett, "The Christmas Eve feast?"

"You have no idea what you are in for. We have all the family here before
going to church later on Christmas Eve and we have a feast before going to
church. The entire family comes, brings food and we go to church
together. My dads started that before I was born to take the burden off
Momma. We go back to Momma and Pops after the service and exchange
gifts. By the way the gifts don't have to be expensive for guests. A box of
chocolate for Momma and wine for Pops. Nothing for my dads or grandads. Oh
yeah, be prepared; there is more food at Pops and Momma's."

Brett, "I am not too keen on church these days."

Robert looked at him. "I can understand that but this is different. My
grandpa Jamie and my Dad went through that with me a few years ago. To many
of us, it is not church that is important but being together,\ and
celebrating part of our heritage. The service is lovely. We sing all the
great carols. Many of us tune out on some of the service but it is being
there, sharing that is important. I would really like you to come to see
that not all churches are like the one that your family attends. It is
truly part of being with our family. Late this summer, we attended mass at
Notre Dame in Paris; it was magical. You don't have to believe to
experience it. Please give it a try."

"I guess to be a good guest I shall have to do it."

"No, I would suggest that you do it to be part of the family, to celebrate
with us a major part of Western heritage. You don't have to believe to do
that. By the way, no one has to go to church; you are free to stay here. I
am just telling you this as a person who has a lot of reservations about
religion but I love that evening. In fact, I enjoy Sunday services with the
family for the same reason. Also this parish has a history of welcoming
people like us. I'll tell you the story of how I was adopted some day."

"Sorry, I shouldn't sound so negative. Church it is and I'll enjoy it with
you, Lucas, Paul and the family."

"I think that you will find that it will be a great evening." He gave a
smile of thanks. "OK, I think that you guys said that you had some shopping
to do and so do we. We bought enough food today that we can have it for
supper with my dads. So I'll give my dads a text to tell them what's up and
we can get out and beat the Christmas rush."

At the shopping centre, they all separated. Robert wanted some help and he
and Paul met inside one of the best jewellery stores in the city. They had
both looked at Lucas for skin colour and finger size. Robert wanted to buy
his guy a ring for Christmas. He wouldn't have it sized and he would make
certain that it could be brought back or exchanged if Lucas didn't want it
or like it.

They had a great time looking at settings and stones and finally had agreed
on one that they both thought would look great and would suit Lucas
totally. It was gift wrapped and put in a nondescript bag that eventually
Robert put into a larger bag from other purchases.

They all arrived home happy at the outing and what they had
accomplished. At Robert's direction, they made a quick pasta sauce and
precooked some pasta. So when the dads were home, there was sausage, salami
and ratatouille and then some pasta and sauce. Of course, there would be
more wine; Robert loved raiding his dads wine cellar.

The dads had come in as the guys were all up stairs changing. Jeremy and
Timothy went up quickly and had a shower together which took a little
longer than it should have but both felt it was worth it. The streaming hot
water relaxed them as did something else. They came down stairs and the
guys were in the kitchen. Immediately, they went over to Paul and Brett and
gave them their usual warm welcome. It was clear that they were going to
enjoy having the house filled with the four guys.

Over supper which the dads said was a great meal, the guys were given their
marching orders for the evening which involved putting up the tree that his
dads had bought a few days before and decorating the house. Robert decided
to stay quiet. The guys had no idea how much they did to decorate for
Christmas. Timothy had joked badly years ago, using stereotypes, that it
must be their gay gene.

After supper, Robert casually said that he needed some help as they had to
move some furniture. He laughed as he told them what had to be done. They
thought that he was joking as it involved a lot of rearranging in the room.

With lots of huffing and puffing, they had it done in record time. It was
Paul who looked around the room. "You said that we had a bit of furniture
to move. It was virtually the entire room."

Robert, "Well not the couches. "

"We moved them back and turned them sightly."

Robert laughed. "That doesn't count."

The guys attacked him.

The tree went up. It had been in the house for a few hours and when they
sawed a bit off the base, they could smell the wonderful scent of a fresh
tree. They put the lights on it and all the guys were into the action of
filling holes where there no lights and arranging them to look more
attractive. Then they brought up the labelled boxes of decorations. On
their first Christmas, Jeremy and Timothy had decided on a more classical
tree and over the years they had amassed a wonderful collection of
exquisite glass balls from purchases and presents. Everyone of the guys
treated each one as a special work of art and some were. Hours later the
tree and the decorations were in place. The place looked great. Timothy
turned off the lights on the tree.

Jeremy looked at this wonderful group of young men. "Thanks so much. We
started this tradition the Christmas before this guy came into our lives."
He moved over and put his arm around Robert. "It is great to see you all
here still enjoying it as we do. Now it is time to get a drink, light the
candles, turn off the lights in the room, start the fireplace and turn back
on the tree lights, in that order."

Timothy turned on the speaker system and started a lovely set of carols
sung by one of the men and boys choirs from England. They got their drinks,
lit the candles and sat in the glow of the fire and the lights on the
tree. Timothy and Jeremy sat on the couch, arms around each other. Paul and
Brett sat together and it was Brett who reached over and put his arm around
his guy. Robert and Lucas sat on the floor with large pillows behind their
backs against a large chair. They had their hands on each others thighs

It was Lucas who turned quietly to his guy and put his arms around him and
gave him a gentle kiss and very softly said "Thank you, love. It is as
wonderful as you said it would be." The snuggled into each other.

That seemed to set off a cascade of little comments and kisses to
partners. Lucas wished that he had a camera when Paul leaned into Brett and
there was just the hint of a kiss and some whispered words. The smile on
Brett's face was worth a thousand words.

Brett had never tried Bourbon which is what he had decided to try. Jeremy
and Timothy only bought good, fairly expensive whisky. He liked the grain
taste. He wasn't sure exactly which grain. There was sweetness almost
caramel and vanilla flavour with the hint of smoke. Later Jeremy gave him
two very different scotches one was from Islay and the other from the
highlands. Like Lucas, he was blown away by the difference in taste and he
fell in love with the Islay with its smoke, peat and saltiness with the
sweetness of some flower. He was warned by Robert that these were very good
scotches and some of the cheaper ones could be a bit rough and not as
good. At that point, Brett had taken a final sip and closed his eyes,
smiled, shrugged and sighed in pleasure. Jeremy and Timothy had looked at
each other and nodded their heads. Brett was hooked on scotch.

There was some talking back and forth about the last weeks of university
and exams. Nothing was said about Brett's family problems. That would be
dealt with after Christmas. They did talk about Paul leaving early on the
23 and returning for Christmas Eve. He was going alone to explain to his
parents his relationship with Brett and hopefully manage an invitation to
return with Brett for Christmas Day. They too would return to Robert's home
late Boxing Day.

Before they went to bed, Robert had told Lucas that he wanted a few minutes
to compose an email to Anna to set up a get together with her. He even told
Lucas that he could read it. Lucas had looked at him, smiled and said that
it was none of his business but that he would like to meet Anna at some
time.

Robert sat in front of an unwritten email with Anna's address on
it. Finally he chose his words carefully.

Anna,

I have remembered our last promise to each other. I would really like to
meet with you and talk over all the highlights of the first term. I have no
idea of your plans or even if and when you will be in the city. The choice
is yours. We could go out for lunch or meet for a cup of coffee at a good
coffee shop.

I did make the hockey team and I was crazy busy this term. I was
correct. There were days when I had to look at my computer to have the date
and day correctly in my mind. Courses went well and I know that exams did
as well.

So let me know when and where you would like to meet. That is if you still
want to do it.

All the best and I am looking forward to seeing you and sharing our first
term.

Robert

He sighed and pressed send. He had signed it Robert, not Robbie, and there
was no love before his name. About 20 minutes of reading and chatting with
Lucas, he slipped into the study to find a return email from Anna.

Robbie, You know that I would never forget about our rendezvous. Of course,
I want to catch up on all that has happened. I too have had a great first
term and my courses went very well. Days melded into days and there were
never enough hours to do all that I wanted.

I would suggest a quick lunch at that little Italian bistro in the shopping
centre that we tried a couple of times. I am free on the December 23 and
possibly on December 27 or 28. Probably the best date for me is the 23rd
but if not the 27 or 28th.

Looking forward to hearing about your adventures and sharing mine.

All my very best

Anna

Neither had used the love in any form. Both emails said very little. Robert
thought quickly and decided that it would be better to do it before
Christmas. He was pretty certain that she was with someone. It was obvious
that her days were filled up before Christmas and certainly leading up to
New Years. He made it simple. His reply was very short and direct. The 23rd
it is. At the Italian Bistro at 12:30. Looking forward to seeing you. If I
don't hear from you, I'll be there waiting.'

Almost minutes later when he came back from the bathroom, her email
confirmed the rendezvous. He smiled to himself, not a date.

"So you have a date for lunch with a beautiful young lady. Should I be
worried?"

Robert's eyes narrowed. He grabbed Lucas slapped his ass hard and then
kissed him even harder. Then laughing, he said one word, 'idiot.' Then he
pushed Lucas onto the bed and lay on him kissing him while staring into his
eyes.

Finally, "I want you to come to the shopping centre that day and at some
point, I am going to phone you and you are going to meet Anna." He paused
and sobered up. "You are the most important person in my life."

Before he knew what was happening, Lucas was on top of him, kissing and
kissing him. "There are days when I wonder how I was so lucky."

Robert simply kissed him and made love to him. Robert always realized again
that making love to a man was so different. The body was hard and
powerful. There were times like tonight that while he was in Lucas and when
Lucas hugged him, he could feel the power and strength of a man not the
soft embrace of a woman. Even when Lucas put legs up over his back, he
could feel the hair and the power of the legs. He loved those moments when
he kissed Lucas and in a moment of passion, Lucas embraced him with power
and strength. Robert was always entranced when he looked down and saw the
hard straining cock with just that little bit of liquid at the tip making
the bulbous head shine.

But it was when his guy started to move to his rhythm and stroke himself
hard and he himself started to stoke in and out hard and fast that he
realized how much he relished making love to this man. When finally he,
then Lucas, climaxed with kisses, and himself out of breath as he felt
himself emptying himself into his lover and saw the arcs of semen that
literally flew out of Lucas that he knew that was all that he needed.

He slowly deflated and came out. He rolled to his side and turned and
kissed Lucas. "I am the luckiest guy in the world."

He still had his arms wrapped around Lucas when they woke the next
morning. They had a lot of things to do so a quick shower together was the
only option that Robert gave them.

His dads ate and left for work, their final day. Finally, Brett and very
soon after, Paul arrived in the kitchen. Robert smile to himself. They had
that look. What was it? Ah, the just fucked look. They stayed close
together, touching each other lightly with a hand or a gentle touch of the
body. They couldn't stay with each other much back at the university given
their room situations. It must have been such a luxury to go to sleep and
wake up together and be able to do anything that they wanted. Robert's mind
wandered. Maybe, Brett had had his talk with Paul about being more
versatile and they were now using every opportunity to experiment. Yeah, he
liked that possibility.

The next couple of days passed with shopping, working around the house,
working out at the gym and some runs around the neighbourhood. Paul said
his goodbyes and with a final rather passionate kiss to Brett he left. He
would return around noon the next day, Christmas Eve.

Everyone in the house knew that this was the day of the rendezvous. Lucas,
Brett and Robert arrived at 11 and did some last minute shopping until
finally at 12:20, Robert left the guys and made his way to the Italian
Bistro. He took a seat in a quiet corner where they could chat. He chose a
table that could seat 4 if it were necessary. As Lucas would say, Robert
thought ahead.

At 12:30, Robert looked up to see Anna come in and look around. He stood up
and caught her attention. Big smiles on both their faces. Their emails had
been very general but one look at this woman and he realized that she had
been right in her letter to him when he arrived back from Europe. No matter
what, there would always be a special place inside him for her. It would
never replace Lucas but she and he had had so many firsts together and had
had a great year until they parted for university.

He stood up and embraced her. There was quick kiss to each cheek. "You look
as beautiful as ever."

"And you sir, have put on more muscle and look radiant."

"You mentioned a quick lunch. Like me, you probably still have a lot of
things yet to do before Christmas. Let's order and then talk."

"It is a really busy time but after Christmas is almost as bad. Good idea."

They ordered. "So you made the hockey team. I knew that you would. Has it
gone well?"

"I am a co-captain and we are second in the league and very close to taking
over the leading team. It has been great with the team spirit and being one
of the leaders of the team"

"I bet you are one of the team's top scorers."

"Yep. We have a really good team this year. Now how about you and your
special Business Admin course."

"It is every bit as good as I had expected. A lot of work. Case studies
galore and we have a huge number of assignments but I love it.

"I had a very interesting Computer assignment in a really interesting new
language. I chose to make a new web site for Grandad Philipo. I am going to
upload it with him this Christmas as his Christmas present."

"That would cost him big bucks."

"That is what he said to me when he asked me how much I expected to be paid
for it."

"I bet you told him it was a gift and that you wouldn't do it if he gave
you a cent."

"Something like that."

They both started to laugh. They knew each other so well. They chatted a
bit more about school and the holidays.

They had finished their meal. Robert gave her a look. Put down his coffee
and breathed in. "You know we have been here for more than half an
hour. Let's talk about the elephant in the room."

"Oh, Robbie. Short and to the point. You were right. I was pursued by a lot
of guys, most of them jerks. I was at the student club one night and was
asked to dance by a guy. He was good looking, about as tall as you and
bright. Interesting guy. We hit it off. We went out on a few dates,
attended some interesting lectures and music concerts and we haven't looked
back. He is here with me at my parents' for Christmas. Not much else that I
can say."

Smiling, "Name, rank and serial number please."

"Thomas Wentworth, heading for a law degree, comes from a very rich family
in Toronto. I found out about the families wealth later after I started
asking for more details about the family. We are going to his place for New
Years."

"I am so happy for you. I hope that it turns out as you want it to."

"OK, now your turn. What was the phrase, honesty no matter what."

"Hope that you are ready for a long and surprising story. It started in
Paris."

"You met someone in Paris?"

He explained the gay clubs and his last night with Andre. "So I told Andre
the same thing as I told all the others that I had a girlfriend back home,
just a little lie. Andre said that he liked the challenge. We talked and
danced for a while. Yeah, I danced with him. I told him he had better leave
me if he wanted to find someone that night. He told me he could give me an
exciting evening. I declined. At some point that night, I suddenly realized
that people did just click and I had with him. No I didn't run off with
him. It just struck me that a lot of a relationship was just enjoying the
person, being with them and sharing. I came back still a virgin."

Anna broke out laughing uproariously. Still chuckling, "I know what you
mean. I do still remember our nights together."

"I met my roommate the day after I moved in. He was a little disorganized
and unsure of himself. He accused me of being bossy when I took over and
told him what to do the first couple of days. We both made the hockey
team. Then I found out why he was so unsure of himself. His parents caught
him with guy when they came home early and they weren't just kissing. His
mother made his life miserable; she told him every day that he was
disgusting. He admitted to me that day that he was gay and offered to move
out of our room now that I knew. I told him over my dead body. When he told
me that he wouldn't be going home for Thanksgiving because of his mother, I
ordered him to come to the chalet. Then we saw the real Lucas, funny,
confident, outgoing. Momma and Jamie love him and I discovered that I did
as well. We have been together since then. He is celebrating Christmas with
us. His mother has relented and he and I are driving to his home on
Christmas Day and staying over night ... in separate rooms."

Chuckling, "Robbie, you do have a way with words. I want to meet the guy
who captured your heart."

"He is here. Can I call him? Is Thomas here? Call him."

"Tell you what, call Lucas. Then I'll call Thomas. I am not certain how he
will react to a gay couple. I have heard a couple of comments between the
gang he goes with."

"I don't usually do this but I'll introduce him as my roommate, my
co-captain and a friend. Neither is a lie."

He called Lucas and minutes later he appeared at the Bistro. He heard the
'wow' from Anna and he tried looking at Lucas as she would see
him. Standing there was a tall, incredibly well built guy, dressed
immaculately in colours that matched his skin tones. Handsome was the only
word that fitted. He strode towards them with a lovely smile on his face.

His first words summed up his Lucas. "I have heard too many damn good
things about you and they all appear to be true." He paused and gave the
big Lucas smile. "But it is a real pleasure to meet you. My guy has good
taste ... in women. The jury is out on his taste in men." Big smile.

And not to me outdone, Anna with a bigger smile, "No and as far as I can
see, good taste in men as well. I told Robbie that I wanted to meet the guy
who captured his heart. I can see why."

Lucas gave her a hug and a kiss on each cheek. Then he was off talking to
her. All that Robert could think was that Lucas was learning too damn
quickly. Robert saw the same Lucas as he had seen at Thanksgiving, the
joking, the funny questions, the little digs. Robert felt so good. His guy
and Anna were getting on well.

After a quick call from Anna, there was a very handsome man standing in the
door of the Bistro. He was as tall as Lucas and with a good build. He
approached the group almost with a wariness in his walk and look. Did he
see the guys, especially Robert, as a possible rival?

Anna pointing at Robert, "Thomas Wentworth, Robert Malenfant."

"Thomas so glad to meet you. I would like you to meet a friend, my roommate
from university staying with me over part of Christmas. He and I are
co-captains of the university hockey team. Thomas, Lucas Stephenson."

He shook hands with Lucas and they said a few things to each other. Then
putting his arm arm proprietorially over Anna's shoulder, "I hear that you
took Anna to the grad dance."

To Robert that was a very strange opening. What did he expect from that?
Did he expect a description of what they did that night? "Yeah, a bunch of
us went to it together and to the parties afterwards as a group, mostly my
friends from the hockey team. A good night, a nice way to end our high
school years. So I hear that you have been together for a lot of this term.
You look as if you are involved in some sport, hockey?"

"Not hockey, I am on the university water polo team."

Lucas spoke up enthusiastically, "I have watched some games. I am always
amazed by how you guys do it. What position?"

"I'm a two-metre specialist." After raised eyebrows from Lucas and Robert,
he explained.

Lucas and Thomas were suddenly in a deep discussion and explanation of the
sport of water polo.

Anna looked at Robert. "Nicely done. I have told him a bit about you and he
does have just a bit of a jealous streak. Thanks for handling the grad
dance question so well." She paused. "Never seen him do that before."

The talk continued. Almost suddenly, Thomas looked at his
watch. "Sweetheart, we still have a lot to do. Perhaps we should be on our
way."

Anna looked slightly surprised but she smiled. "You're right. It was great
meeting you Lucas and thanks for the lunch Robert. It was good to get
caught up. Have a good second term."

Robert smiled; he noticed that his name had become Robert. "You too." He
looked at Thomas. "Nice meeting you. If you are ever playing our water polo
team let me know. I can come out and cheer our side on." He smiled at
Thomas and shook his hand. He felt a fair amount of pressure in the
handshake and he returned it in kind. A challenge? A warning? They both
had the good graces to let go.

Just before they parted he gave a general invitation to come over and see
his parents and drop in for a few moments on Christmas Eve. He said that it
would be the usual, all the family. No commitments were made.

Lucas sat down beside his guy. "I don't like him. Very self centred. Never
once asked me about our positions as co-captains or the team and I did
mention that we were second in the league. His suggestion for departure was
sudden and strange; almost as if it was the last place he wanted to be. On
the other hand, she is wonderful young lady."

"Yes his opening comment about the grad dance was strange as well. I doubt
that we shall see them on Christmas Eve. I think that Anna saw some sides
of Thomas that she had never seen before. I hope that he doesn't let her
down." He grabbed Lucas hand. "I say that as a friend."

As they walked out of the Bistro, Lucas gave him a hip bump. "I think that
I'll need a lot of physical reassurance tonight."

"You are just a horny bugger. Can't get enough."

"Yep. The problem is I can't get enough of you."

"Mr. Stephenson, very nicely said. If we weren't in public I would give you
a big, wet kiss right here and now."

"Kisses can be put on hold in the bank."

They left chuckling. Later, there was a queue of kisses. One beauty in the
car. A really wet one in the hall as they took off their coats. A sensual,
scorcher in their room as they changed into more casual clothes.

Robert was surprised at how distant he had felt in the bistro. He wasn't
really sure about what he had expected from the rendezvous. He really did
feel that Anna was a friend whom he would probably not see very much any
more. He wished her all the best and hoped that they were wrong about
Thomas Wentworth.

They had a good supper and the telephone ran around 8. Robert took
it. "Brett it is for you, Paul on the line."

Brett took it and told his guy that he was missing him. Brett chuckled and
told him that he could wait. He blushed a bit when he realized that there
were people in hearing distance. They chatted and then Robert heard, "That
is great. I am so happy that that was their reaction. Looking forward to
it. See you tomorrow. Looking forward to that too." He laughed and blushed
at the same time.

Brett turned to Robert. "I am missing him and not just what he told me that
I was missing. His parents want us to come for Christmas Day and leave
after lunch on Boxing Day. Apparently, we can sleep in the same room."

They both laughed when Robert muttered that it was a better than he was
getting. Robert was so glad to see Brett coming out of his shell on things
like this. Maybe there little talk about versatility had helped.

The kisses continued as they got ready for bed. Right, getting ready for
bed was brushing their teeth, taking a quick shower and jumping into bed
naked. Then the real fun began. Both guys were in a playful mood. There
were lots of pinches and slaps on the ass. Somehow Lucas ended up with
Robert's legs in the air and his ass exposed. Robert obviously enjoyed the
slaps if the sighs of pleasure meant anything. When Lucas crawled over
Robert who was lying on his back, Robert could see how hard and ready Lucas
was. The mood changed a bit and it become slow and loving. They finished
almost together with noise they tried to muffle by kissing each other.
There were lovely smiles as they lay beside each other just holding the
other with their bodies touching. A perfect end to an interesting day.

Comments

I have had some feedback from some readers who were trying to read some of
my previous stories. If you go to Authors on Nifty and find my name, when
you try to access Surprised Eric and Dave from the Authors list, it doesn't
connect to anything. Surprised Graham and Robert is just not there. If you
want to read them, use the date and category, Adult-Friends or Beginnings
etc. and go the appropriate category and date and they are there and
active.

If you liked this story, you might want to read the others that I have
published on Nifty. In particular, my first story, Unexpected Change which
has had the most positive comments and one of my other favourites, What a
Difference a Year Makes. I have recently reread Introspection and it is
worth a read, Michael Burtchell's story is in Discoveries; its ending is a
little weak but getting there is fun.
