Robert is now the main character but as in all the Unexpected stories, the
family is still there for support and interest. A lot of things happen in
this chapter as a result, it is a bit long and I wanted to end it at a
certain moment.

For those who speak French, I did try to get the correct French accents
through a little process (I don't have a French keyboard on my computer)
but it didn't work.

Previously

After some very sensual dancing, they finally said goodbye with a lingering
kiss. Robert had opened his mouth and he had just touched the tip of
Andre's tongue. Robert realized that he had really enjoyed Andre. They had
clicked in a way that he had not clicked with anyone in a while. Andre
reminded him of Anna and their relationship. Much the same kind of person
except for the private bits. He realized, maybe for the first time, that it
wasn't just sex but it was the whole package of someone who you could enjoy
yourself with, a soul mate. Well, the sex was important. He was horny as
hell. Maybe in Turin, he would find a female like his Andre tonight. He
could still feel that tongue, tip on the tip. He still wasn't sure why he
had done it.

Their time in Turin was going to be different than Paris. They were going
to visit the family roots of the Marchese family. His dad had met the
younger members of the family when he had gone over to Italy, like him, the
summer before his first year at university. He had had a great time. They
had not only kept in touch but Jeremy and Timothy had visited several times
over the years when they were in Europe when Jeremy was giving
presentations. This would not be long days visiting tourist sites although
that they would do some of that. A lot would be talking and meeting family
who Robert had not met. He was really looking forward to it.

Then for their final days in Europe, they would take the early morning
train to Rome and spend a couple of days cramming in the sites of the
eternal city (he had done a lot research). They would leave Europe from
Rome to Canada.

Present

The flight over the mountains was exciting. Robert had never seen anything
like it. Then the descent into the Aeroporto di Torino down over the
mountains was spectacular. The wait in customs was interminable but finally
they emerged to the hall leading to the baggage area. The family didn't
need signs. The minute that they came into the area, Jeremy and Timothy
headed immediately to a small group of people. These had to be Philipo's
relatives. Big, strong and hugs that almost jarred your bones. Robert
smiled to himself and figured that he was part of the family and he
returned the hugs in kind.

They spoke in rapid Italian. Papa had taken some Italian classes and Robert
was surprised how good he sounded. They soon switched to English to include
Dad and himself. Oh boy this was not Paris. He was going to really enjoy
this lively, interesting family. Introductions all around, Nicolo was the
father, Maria was the mother. Pietro was the son and his sister was
Angela. Pietro was slightly older than him but Angela was probably a year
younger.

They spoke impressive English. Before he knew it, they were talking a mile
a minute about their flight, their time in Paris. Pietro was excited when
Robert was asked if there was anything that he wanted to do and he answered
in fairly good Ilalian, Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile. Pietro had only
been once and wanted to go back. Angela had rolled her eyes. They only had
4 days in Turin and then 4 in Rome. He suspected they would need a week to
recover back home.

The family had opened their eyes wide when Papa and he had had a quick
conversation in rapid French. Roberto as he was now called, translated
immediately and then explained that the two automatically spoke French to
each other.

Finally the bags came and they were loaded in the car. They drove
immediately to their hotel. The family didn't have a large house and the
only ones who did had made it clear that two men married to each other
would not be living in the house of Nicolo's parents. Nothing had changed
since Jeremy's first visit. He felt the same way about it now as he did
then. He would enjoy his time with this family.

Pietro and he had decided to visit the Auto Museum the next day. They were
driven to the city centre and walked around in the arcades and shopping
streets which were famous and took the Metro to the museum. The museum was
one of the many highlights of his trip. The cars went from the earliest
days of automobiles to some of the most incredible racing and sports
cars. Robert took a lot of pictures to show his dads. They had declined to
come. They wanted Robert to have time with a guy his age and interests just
as Jeremy had done on his first trip.

The next night they went out to a club. Not much different than Paris,
busy, noisy and fun. They met some of Pietro's friends and he had a great
time. It was a pleasant surprise to be dancing with females. He was a good
dancer and had a good time. He realized that not much was going to happen
but a drink and a dance that night. Most of the girls were with boyfriends
and he had no where to take a girl if they wanted privacy. He did dance
with one girl who was pretty forward with him but he didn't really like
her. Wasn't that always the case; the ones you liked were taken and the
others well ....

They left the next day, it had been a really memorable time with the family
and all the people who he had met. He knew that their welcome and
invitations back were meant. He hugged Pietro and Angela and they were off
on the train to Rome.

Whirlwind in Rome. That was the only way he could describe it. St. Peters,
the Vatican, the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Castel
Saint'Angelo. Knowing that they only had part of a day (they took the very
early train from Turin), two full days and a very small part of the last
day, they had booked a very expensive tour for the first full day. It had
an early start, included lunch and gave a mind blowing tour of all the main
sites. They had gone to Saint Peters on their first half day. On their last
full day, they visited the Vatican museum and then spent some time shopping
and wandering. On the last day they simply walked around in the morning
before their flight home.

Robert couldn't stop telling his dads how much he enjoyed the trip. His
dads were so happy that they had done all the right things. Both knew that
this would be a life changing moment for their guy. In fact, his reaction
was almost exactly what Jeremy's had been when the dads had taken him
before his first year at university.

They pulled into their driveway. It felt good to be home after a fantastic
16 days in Europe. He really appreciated what his dads had done for
him. Now it was only a few day until he left for university and hockey
tryouts. Making the hockey team would be a highlight of a really great
summer.

They collected the mail that had been delivered and Robert took all his
luggage up to empty them and put the dirty clothes down in the basement for
washing.

On his way down, Timothy called to him. He handed him an envelope with the
word Robbie written on it. Robert recognized the writing immediately and
there was only one person who always called him Robbie. Most of his other
friends called him Rob. He took it up to his room, sat down, composed
himself and opened it.

Robbie,

I am off to visit relatives and then make the trek to my new residence at
the university.

I hope that your trip to Europe was all that you hoped that it would be. My
summer has been good but not as exciting as yours.

I have replayed our night out for supper many times in my mind along with
the night of the grad dance. I realized that I too was worried about the
telephone call. I know that you would never send an email like that! My
thoughtful, caring guy.

I suddenly realized in all the turmoil in my mind that night that I didn't
do one really important thing. I want you to have a great first term and to
enjoy it to the fullest as you wished me. I know that you will make the
hockey team and that you will succeed in your studies.

When I am back at Christmas, I want to share all our experiences
together. I want you to know that, no matter where our honesty leads us,
you will always have a place somewhere deep inside me as someone who I can
never thank enough for the caring and love that you gave me.

Truly, have a great first term to ... the ... fullest.

All my love and friendship, Anna

He told himself to be strong but his lips tightened and drew in
slightly. He felt the short little tremors and breaths that came before
weeping and then the moisture in his eyes started and wouldn't stop. He was
just holding it back when his papa poked his head into his room. That was
all it took and the flood gates opened. His papa was beside him with his
arms wrapped around him tightly asking what the problem was. All Robert
could do was hand him the letter.

Timothy read it and felt such pride in his son. "Oh son, what a lovely
letter. What a lovely comment on you. I know that doubts will come many
times. How many young men would have such a letter from a young lady as
bright and loving as Anna? She is telling you that no matter whether you
find someone or she does, that you have had a huge impact on her life."

Timothy stopped and held his son tightly to him and they remained like that
until the whimpers stopped and the eyes stopped watering. Jeremy had moist
eyes when he read the letter later in the evening.

The days passed quickly and they were on the road heading to that
university 250 kilometres away. Because of his early arrival for the hockey
team tryouts, there was not the usual huge number of cars that were there
on that first weekend at universities around the province. He was able to
go quickly through registration without the long waiting lines that there
would be next week.

They soon had all his stuff in his room. His roommate had not arrived at
this point and was still not there when they came back from supper. The
dads had to be back in the city so they said their goodbyes. It was tough
for all of them. Timothy had been correct; this was a tough moment for
Jeremy and Timothy saying goodbye to their son. They had taken this young
man into their lives hours after his birth and had nurtured and enjoyed him
for eighteen, wonderful years. Both were certain that they would build a
new relationship much as Jeremy had with his dads and Timothy had
eventually with his father. That was all they could hope for.

Robert felt happy and expectant but alone as he never had in his entire
life before. He knew that he had been lucky with his dads. He smiled
thinking that they were certainly the shining example of how two gay men
could raise a child. He had been blessed.

He went out for a walk around campus that evening. It was a lovely campus
with a core of old traditional building going back to the early 20th
century and some new spectacular, modern ones. There were lots of trees and
walks. He found the arena where his tryouts would start late the next day
and then found the computer building which was one of the new, modern
buildings. This would be his life, and home for the next 4 years.

After his walk, he set up his computer and was soon connected to the
internet, he did some surfing and then turned in. He was surprised when he
woke the next morning refreshed after a good sleep. He showered, dressed
and went to find place for breakfast.

He returned from a good, inexpensive breakfast. As he walked down the hall
to his room, he could see that the door was open and he could hear noise in
the room. He hoped that he wasn't coming upon a thief and that it was his
roommate.

He looked in. He saw a guy, bigger than himself but all muscle. He had
short dark brown hair and looked totally frazzled. There was a bigger pile
of 'stuff' than he had had.

"I hope that you are my roommate not some street guy who found my room
open."

Big honest smile, "Shit do I look that bad." He smelt himself. Robert
smiled and laughed. The guy talked a mile a minute. "I couldn't get away
yesterday so I started out early this morning. Sorry, Lucas Stephenson."
Without stopping. "I finally registered and found my, our room and shlepped
most of my stuff up. I have tryouts this afternoon and I have to be there
on time and get myself organized."

Robert's eyebrows were raised and he raised his hand in a stop
position. "Slow down, Robert (he pronounced it the English way) Malenfant
(the French way). I hope that it is hockey tryouts and that you are
defence."

"Yeah, sometimes, I do get wound up. Yes defence. You? I really hope that
we can make the team together. I need someone to keep me on
schedule. Sorry, you are trying out for hockey?"

"Hockey tryouts this afternoon and right forward or centre. I am all set up
and I can help." Surveying all the stuff, "Tell me that you don't have
more?" Even Robert knew it was a negative statement not a question.

Speaking quickly, "I always over pack. Yeah, my computer equipment. Sorry I
...."

Robert held up his hand again. "Slow down." Talking deliberately, "OK,
here's a plan. Let's go and get your computer gear out of the car. Then we
are going to get some breakfast for you. After that, I'll set the computer
up while you unpack. Then lunch. I did a little tour of the campus last
night after my parents left. Then we get our gear and go to the arena. I
take it your parents didn't come with you."

Looking a little hesitant and almost wistful, "No they are in Europe on a
tour so I drove my car that I want here anyway." He paused and returned to
his more cheerful way. "Are you always this bossy and organized. Are you
going to organize my life?"

"I am not bossy but I am organized. And yes I do tend to take over and
probably will with your life." He started to laugh. "Somebody has get you
to the arena on time."

"OK. Take me to breakfast my lord and master. How did you know that I was
hungry?"

"I thought that you were going to chew your lip off and eat it."

Lucas started to laugh, "A nervous habit."

"Well roomie, you don't have to be nervous with me. We are going to let it
all hang out eventually and literally. Come on. I found a good place for
breakfast. Cheap and lots of it."

All Robert's thoughts and concerns about a roommate disappeared. He liked
this guy. They were going to be OK together.

By lunch, the computer was working and it was a lovely MacBook Pro. Robert
had bought a high end PC laptop as they were most used in computer
technical work but he loved the sleek lines and great interface of the
Mac. Lucas was unpacked and their room looked alive and lived in. They had
shared what their expectations of each other as roommates were and they
were close. They went for lunch.

On the way back from lunch, they walked over the route that Robert had
taken the evening before. Looked even better in the full sun of an early
August afternoon. There was low humidity, no wind and a temperature of 26
C. A glorious summer afternoon.

They walked along. Lucas, a little sarcastically, "OK boss, what are my
marching order for the afternoon."

For that, he got a right hip on his left hip. It was unexpected and Lucas
was forced to step sideways. With narrowed eyes, he launched himself at
Robert. Robert had expected something like that and he had braced himself
and hardly moved. Smirking at Lucas, "Big defence man will have to start
doing better than that this afternoon."

It was a challenge but Robert moved quickly away and took a defensive
stance. "See we forwards know how to deal with big, bad defence men."

It was said in such a way that they both started to chuckle which totally
changed the situation. "I'll get you back sometime. Watch out if were are
on opposing teams in scrimmages."

"Believe me I will." He held out his hand to shake and Lucas grabbed it and
started to squeeze hard. Another challenge. The two stood squeezing the
other until they both broke out laughing and let go.

It was Lucas who looked at Robert. "Teammates and roommates have to have
each others backs." He held out his hand and they shook.

Robert looked at him. "Nice move roommate."

They had put their equipment in the locker room and the coach and his staff
had herded them into a room with chairs. Robert smiled to himself as he
listened to the coach's words. The coach was giving a hard ass welcome with
warnings of what he wanted and how hard he was going to work them in the
next week. He wanted the best team that they had ever had etc. Robert knew
that he wanted this badly so he listened and planned what he would do. If
the coached wanted fast, he would skate faster. If he wanted hard slap
shots, his would resound around the arena. He had his plan. None of this
showed on his face. It was just a face of a young, new player who was
listening and taking it all in.

The practice was hard. He had not worked out for almost 3 weeks. They had
walked a lot in Europe but that was very different from what was expected
now. There was a workout tomorrow with the team and he suspected that the
coach was going to make it a good one.

As the days passed, he realized that there were quite a few positions open
as a large number of last year's team had graduated. He was determined not
only to make the team but to be on a strong line or lead one if he could.

He talked that over with Lucas one night. Lucas looked at him. "I guess we
both think the same way. I am glad that I am on defence. You are one hell
of a skater, stick handler and you think. I am glad that we aren't
competing."

"Hey, I watched you the other day. You can move and stick handle really
well. You always seem to be in the correct position to help defend the
goalie." Lucas shrugged. "Don't play yourself down. You are good in sports
and academics. You are going to make the team and do well this year."

"Thanks. It is nice to have someone who thinks that way about me."

Robert gave him a genuine smile but he let that comment pass. He had
noticed that sometimes Lucas didn't have a really strong sense of self
confidence. He looked at this guy: looks, physique and his marks on his
assignments had been A in high school. He realized for the first time that
they were a team. After hockey and courses, all his remaining time was
with this man. He was his buddy, his mate.

On the Friday morning of the last day of tryouts, Robert figured that they
should talk about it. "Some of the guys are starting to talk about a night
at the pub. A little dancing and some drinks."

"I'm not much of a dancer. I'm not sure."

"Hey, it is part of team morale. You are coming. It is important."

"Bossy, again."

"Sorry but I ... want ... you there. You and I are a team. We are going to
be part of a larger team and it is really going to be important in our
lives."

He chuckled almost reluctantly, "OK."

Their telephone rang. Robert picked it up. "Papa." Automatically, they were
off in French. "It is so good to hear your voice. Ah it has been a great
week. I was so tired and sore the first couple days but I am back in the
swing. Not a lot of time for much more that eating, hockey and sleep. The
guys are talking of night out tomorrow at the pub. My roomie and I were
just talking about it. We are getting along well."

They talked for awhile and Timothy finally said that if he didn't hand over
the phone that he was going to have the phone wrestled from him. Robert
listened to his Papa say his goodbyes and best wishes and then heard his
Dad's excited voice.

He had decided to keep that fact that he had two dads to himself until he
felt his way with people. "It is so good to hear your voice too." They
chatted in English enthusiastically repeating a lot of what was said to
Papa. By the time he hung up, he had been on the phone for close to 20
minutes. It felt so good to make contact.

Lucas had busied himself with some thing on his computer. "You really get
on well with your parents. You sound really close."

"Yeah, I am. I guess I am lucky.

"Yep." He almost sighed.

It was more the tone of his voice that struck Robert: resignation,
envy. Robert wasn't totally sure.

"You are amazing. You are totally bilingual. I understood a lot of what you
said; I was in French Immersion but never sounded like that."

"Oh that. Both my parents spoke French to me until I started to speak and
then my French speaking one only spoke French and the English one only
spoke English. We still do it all the time. It's automatic now."

"I envy you."

"Why don't you and I speak French to each other. I'll try and keep it
slow."

"You'll probably want to strangle me after an hour."

With a huge smile, Robert. "I want to do that every day."

The both laughed hard. And so they started Lucas' French immersion. As it
turned out, Lucas spoke quite well and soon, he was improving by the day.

They both made the team and they both attended the pub on Saturday
night. Robert danced but didn't find any of the girls interesting. Lucas
didn't dance; he drank. Finally earlier than he expected, Robert pretended
that he was tired and insisted that Lucas stop drinking and come home with
him. He had a fairly drunk roommate that night. He helped get him undressed
and into bed. He realized that Lucas really was a big guy. Robert had
chuckled to himself, big in all departments. Impressive, like Jacques in
Paris. Before he turned off the lights, he checked Lucas one last time. He
looked so young and handsome as he lay there snoring lightly as he slept
off the booze. He knew that he would be a friend for a long time.

There had been one girl there that night with whom he wouldn't have minded
ending up in bed but he really didn't find her attractive in any other
way. Well at least his roomie would not notice; his left hand was very
active for a while.

They were both enjoying their courses. The computer equipment and labs had
the latest technology and he soon found out that he knew some things about
computers and programing but he had a long way to go. But it would be a
challenge and he liked challenges. He had enrolled in an accounting
course. His work at The Accountants had put an idea in his head. He wanted
to see how he could use computing to aid forensic accounting so he had to
have at least basic accounting knowledge.

Lucas was in that class with him as Lucas was considering being a
CPA. Amazing that his roommate would be doing what his dad had done at
university. Robert finally found out that Lucas' father was a CPA and ran a
very small practice out of a small store front office. It was all he wanted
and he had done well and his staff had grown. As Lucas said, they were well
off.

He had been correct. They were so busy that he sometimes had to look at his
computer to find out what day it was. His calendar was filled mostly with
hockey related meetings, practices, lectures, reading the assigned
materials and labs for his computer program.

Late in September, they were walking over to the arena for their first game
of the season. Both were excited about the game. It was another lovely late
September day and they were chatting about something in their accounting
class. Just before they came to the arena, they passed a maple tree whose
leaves were starting to turn a brilliant red. That had Robert's mind turn
to Thanksgiving, a couple of weeks away.

"Lucas, when are you leaving for Thanksgiving, the last Friday after
classes? We should celebrate the night before."

He looked at Lucas for an answer. Lucas looked as if he didn't know what to
say. "Oh, I think that I'll stay here. It is a long drive."

Robert's first thought was that his tone of voice and his answer were
strange. Lucas' home was a shorter distance than his. He sounded as if he
didn't want to go home. However, they arrived at the arena and they had to
scramble to get to the pregame meeting. He didn't have a chance to question
him. He would have to raise the not going home with him later.

The game was tough. The other team was very physical and early in the
second period, Robert had had enough of the boarding, nasty digs and elbows
in the corner. He was careful not to get caught but within a few minutes,
they left him alone as he had started his own little pay backs for the
bruises that he was going to have. At the end of the game, the coach had
singled him out for his smart play. The coach had smiled at him as he left
for the changing room and told him that he liked clever players. Robert
scored one goal and the team won 2 -- 1.

They were back in their room. Might as well be direct. "Why aren't you
going home for Thanksgiving?"

Lucas had the look of the deer caught in the headlights. Silence. Finally,
"Long drive. Not much to do there. I have a lot of work that I have to
catch up on."

"Lucas, that ... is ... bullshit. We work together and both of us are
caught up. You live closer to home than I do."

"Ah shit, just leave it please."

Robert could see the defences go up and the tears coming in the eyes.

Softly, "You can tell me. You are a great guy. You can trust me."

His guard was down, "Then you'll think that I am disgusting too."

This guy wasn't good at defending himself. "I can't even imagine any reason
that would cause me to feel that way about you."

Lucas frowned knowing Robert by now that Robert would not let up. Robert
saw the defences falling.

"I think that I am gay. My parents, no my mother, think that I am
disgusting, a word she has used often to me for the last months, every
day. There, you know my secret. I'll switch rooms if you want."

In a flash with all the experiences that he had with his dads, Robert was
beside Lucas and put his arm over his shoulder and pulled him tight. The
tears came. Robert said soothing things just as Papa would telling him that
being gay might be difficult but it was no problem for him. Finally, "Come
on, there is a story. Tell it to me please. I don't give a shit if you are
gay. Switch rooms? Over my dead body."

Lucas smiled but still unbelieving and reluctantly, "I had never really
been turned on by girls; thought that there was something wrong with
me. During the winter this year, I met a guy at school and we started to
play around with each other. You know like some guys do. My parents were
out at a party one Saturday night and David came over to the house. It was
fairly early and one thing led to another and we were giving each other
head and he asked me to fuck him. He had planned ahead with condoms and
lube. I was so turned on that I said OK. I had never felt so good and alive
as I did the 'deed'. Dad hadn't been feeling well and they came home
early. We were in the basement. I had never felt anything like it and I was
totally in the moment and didn't hear my dad come down the stairs. To say
the least, the shit hit the fan. I became disgusting in my mother's eyes."

"My family is fairly well to do and my mother loves her social group of
elegant ladies. A gay son would lower their opinion of her and our
family. Not to be tolerated. Dad wasn't as bad and there was no question of
being thrown out. By her actions, I was to take my dirty self out of the
house and stay away as far and as much as I could. I could keep my
car. University would be paid for. But don't expect much more. How can a
big hockey player like me be gay?"

Robert had kept the arm around him and he pulled him even tighter; he
himself felt like crying for what had happened to this wonderful guy.

He finally released Lucas. Robert chuckled. That got a strange look from
Lucas. "I have a secret. You know I have talked about my parents. I have
been very careful to use the words parents and not be very specific. I
speak French to Papa, Timothy and English to Dad, Jeremy. They adopted me
very soon after my birth."

It took a second to sink in. Lucas' eyes brightened and became larger, "No
shit!"

The look of relief on that handsome face was everything that Robert had
hoped for. "When you meet my Dad, Jeremy and Papa, Timothy, you will see
how it is easy for big, masculine football (soccer) players to be gay. You
are no different."

"Now for my bossy part. You are going to come home with me for
Thanksgiving. We'll go directly to the chalet; all the family congregates
their for Thanksgiving. It is a blast. One more makes absolutely no
difference. You are even ready for Timothy's side who are French speaking."

"I couldn't do that!"

"You can and you will! See I can be very bossy." Robert reached over and
gently touched his shoulder with his hand. He knew from lots of experience
how touch could be all important. Robert hoped it felt as good to Lucas as
it always did to him. This guy with all his hangups was becoming very close
to him.

He noticed in the days after that conversation that he was seeing an
emerging new Lucas. He spoke up in the accounting tutorials with good ideas
and questions. He was more engaged and very smart when he was on the ice;
the coach had mentioned it quietly after a game. They shared a lot about
themselves to each other. They attended the last couple of pub nights with
the team. At the last pub night before Thanksgiving, Lucas didn't dance
much using the excuse that he had two left feet. There was one fast dance
where the guys all got up and danced as a team; Lucas joined and was one
hell of a dancer. He drank only a bit and they had returned back to their
room feeling happy but not drunk. Robert really liked the new roommate.

Robert who was feeling quite mellow watched him get undressed and saw that
incredible body in a new light. He was handsome, built and hung. He had
some interesting and very different dreams that night.

They were on the road the next day heading to the chalet. There was still
the doubtful guy lurking in the shadows. What would happen if they didn't
like him? They would was Robert's reply. What if his French wasn't good
enough. It was. Finally he wanted full family names. If his last name was
Malenfant, who did he get that from. Timothy. What was Jeremy's name?
Marchese-Milner. That got a look of terror.

"Jeremy Marchese-Milner? This spring, Dad had me read your Dad's first
article. It was brilliant. Oh, shit, I am going to look like a loser. What
is his position at The Accountants?"

"Owner and runs the company."

"What is Timothy's job?"

"One of the senior partners in the biggest law firm in town."

"Can I turn around now and go back."

A bossy, definitive, "NO!"

Finally after the 'NO', they both laughed hard.

"Calm down. Be yourself. You are with me. They will love you. Remember the
entire family loves to hug. Go with the flow. Turn left up there. We are
about 7 km from the chalet. You are going to be fine. Repeat after me, 'I
am going to be fine'."

"I am going to poop my pants, stammer a lot and crush someone when I hug
back."

Robert hit his arm hard.

"I am going to be fine." Lucas started to laugh hysterically.

That was how they arrived at the chalet both laughing until they almost
cried.

Within seconds of turning off the car, the front door of the porch opened
and out ran Timothy and Jeremy. Smirking, Robert looked at his roomie,
"Show time! Papa and Dad incoming."

Lucas was to say later that he had never had such a greeting from
anyone. Timothy got to Robert first and the hug was long and hard. Jeremy
reached Lucas. "I am Dad, Jeremy. So good to meet you. We have heard all
about you, all good." Lucas had never been hugged by anyone like that in
his life.  He had been hugged by Jeremy Marchese-Milner. Robert was right;
it felt great. He felt welcomed and accepted. Then they switched. Timothy's
hug was even longer and he whispered that they were so happy to meet him at
last.

Then of course, it was the grandparents, Jamie and Philipo, the Malenfants,
MC, Pierre and the very good looking Luc with his girlfriend Liza beside
him. They were friendly, welcoming and easy to talk to. He was overwhelmed
and so glad that his bossy roommate had made him come.

Robert watched Lucas over the day and he was filled with admiration for
Lucas. He pitched in getting meals and cleaning up. He talked with everyone
there. He laughed; he made them laugh. There would be games that night and
some preparations for tomorrow but Robert insisted on a walk to the
beach. They walked close together. Sometimes Robert pointed out things. A
few of Lucas' questions were answered. A lot of the time they walked
quietly enjoying being with each other in such a different setting.

Later, he saw the competitive side. Lucas was devastatingly good at cards
and they all loved his exuberance and comments. He had insisted on helping
Jamie with the dressing. They mixed dry ingredients and then sauteed cut up
vegetables and a some of the nuts were chopped and put in baggies so that
they wouldn't get too soggy. They chatted and laughed and joked. At one
point, he heard Lucas tell Jamie that he was as bossy as his
roommate. Jamie had given him a light hit with his fist on his arm. Lucas
put on a big show of being injured. It was obvious that Lucas and Jamie
were getting along well. The thought crossed Robert's mind, how could
Lucas' parents be so stupid?

Finally, it was bedtime. The guys said goodnight and went into their room
in the cabin behind the chalet. They undressed down to shorts and t
shirts. They had blown up an air mattress for Lucas but the temperature was
going to dip that night. Robert jumped into bed and looked down at Lucas
and told him to jump in with him.

"Really?"

"Yeah, it is going to be chilly tomorrow morning and air mattresses get
cold. It is a double bed. Lots of room." It didn't take much convincing.

Robert felt the bed move to the weight as Lucas clambered in. There was a
moment of silence and then a quiet voice from beside Robert. "Can I do to
you what everyone has done to me all day."

"Sure."

He felt the arm go over him and the powerful arm hugged him close. Robert
felt the hug start to loosen. Lucas was going to pull away. "Please don't
move that feels wonderful."

The arms tightened again. "Can I do something that I really want to do?"

A shrug from Robert. Hands moved Robbie's body so that he was on his
back. Lucas leaned over and kissed him on the lips. Robert's eyes were
closed. The kiss continued. He felt the tongue. Like the night at the club
in Paris with Andre, he opened his lips and tongue touched tongue. It
lasted only a couple of seconds.

Lucas pulled away. "Thank you. I am sorry that I did that but I just had to
let you know how I feel for all that you have done for me."

He couldn't see the smile and tender look. "Did I back off?" No answer.

They fell asleep like that and the next morning, Robert woke to the arm
still around him and there was a very hard cock against his ass. An
unbidden thought came, this was something that he might be able to become
used to. Yes, he remembered back to his thoughts with Andre in Paris. It
was the whole package. He had started to feel so close to this guy. Could
he meet him all the way? The way he was beginning to feel, he might be able
to. He realized that he hadn't thought of Anna or any female for more than
a month.

So as not to upset Lucas, he slowly moved away from the sleeping Lucas and
his hard cock. The eyes popped open at his movement. Then the lovely Lucas
smile and then the realization that he was hard. All that flashed across
Lucas' transparent face. Robert couldn't help smiling at this big,
wonderful guy. However, he realized that had some figuring to do and it
would have to be quick.

He lay in bed letting his mind wander. He could feel the heat of Lucas'
body and his yawns. Without direction, his mind went back to Paris, Andre
again; a guy he clicked with, someone he enjoyed being with, a soul
mate. Then his papa's prediction that he would meet his soul mate with whom
he would click, mesh and there would be his' someone' out there for
him. This guy had crept up on him, taken him by surprise.

Comments

I have had some feedback from some readers who were trying to read some of
my previous stories. If you go to Authors on Nifty and find my name, when
you try to access Surprised Eric and Dave from the Authors list, it doesn't
connect to anything. Surprised Graham and Robert is just not there. If you
want to read them, use the date and category, Adult-Friends or Beginnings
etc. and go the appropriate category and date and they are there and
active.

If you liked this story, you might want to read the others that I have
published on Nifty. In particular, my first story, Unexpected Change which
has had the most positive comments and one of my other favourites, What a
Difference a Year Makes. I have recently reread Introspection and it is
worth a read, Michail Burtchell's story is in Discoveries; its ending is a
little weak but getting there is fun.
