Accidents will Happen

Chapter 15

Dylan reluctantly pulled himself away from me and turned off the water. I
opened the door to the shower and reached out for the towels on the side,
taking the first and wrapping it around Dylan, encapsulating him in my
arms. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped the other towel around me
and started to vigorously dry myself.

Dylan finished up drying himself and shuffled into the bedroom with the
towel still wrapped around him like a cape.

"I am just going to get some clean undies and stuff from my room" he said
winking at me.

"Ok sexy, I'll meet you in the kitchen" I replied getting dressed.

I pulled on my old clothes and headed out and towards the kitchen. As I
entered Jane was finishing laying the table for breakfast.

"I bet you feel better for that" she said as turned and faced me.

"Yeah I really needed it. It's woken me up some" I replied feeling a
little awkward and a bit like a naughty schoolboy waiting to be yelled at.

"Where's Dylan?" she asked.

"He's just getting dressed in his room, he wanted some fresh clothes.
Can't say I blame him to be honest" I said laughing lightly and nervously.

"Oh ok, why don't you grab a chair while we wait for him, he could be some
time and he does take forever sometimes" Jane said obviously trying to make
me feel a little more comfortable.

"I have to say Jane, the breakfast smells divine I am starving!" I said
feeling a little more comfortable.

"Thanks Dan, breakfast is a specialty of mine. How about we start with
some tea?" she asked as the tension eased some.

"That would be fantastic; you want me to put the kettle on?" I said
remembering where it all was from last night.

"Great I'll grab the cups" she replied.

As Dylan walked in to the kitchen Jane and I were working in tandem
preparing the tea, he looked at me smiled and winked. Dylan looked great
he'd changed into a pair of nicely fitted jeans and a red American Eagle
T-shirt and looked like he could have been modeling the clothes for the
store.

"Hey honny" Jane said to Dylan going over to him and putting her arms
around him and cuddling him. "You feel better for your shower; Dan said he
really needed his."

"Oh yeah Mom I really needed it, I feel so much better after my shower"
Dylan replied looking at me and smiling.

"Ok lets sit down and have some breakfast" Jane said. "I know Dan is
ravenous"

"Oh yeah he seems to have a massive appetite" Dylan said as he sat next to
me.

I squeezed Dylan's leg hard, a signal for him to stop with the innuendo.

"OUCH!!!" Dylan exclaimed as I finished squeezing looking at me with a mock
pained expression.

"What's up?" Jane asked.

"Oh nothing I just banged one of my scraped knees on the leg of the table"
Dylan said lying through his teeth.

I felt guilty as I'd forgotten all about Dylan's injuries as he'd taken off
all the dressings I'd put on.

"Ok boys tuck in" Jane said as she placed breakfast on the table. "And
let's have a chat whilst we chew."

We all tucked in feeding our faces, particularly Dylan and I as we'd
managed to build up a healthy appetite over the last 12 hours.

"Now guys" started Jane as we both looked at her expectantly. "Firstly I
want to say that after last night what I saw when I came into the guest
room wasn't too much of a shock."

Dylan and I looked at each other and both blushed.

"It wasn't too much of a shock but it was still a shock" Jane continued.
"I am concerned because Dylan you're only 16 and Dan you're older, I don't
know by how much but you're older. On top of this you've only known each
other probably less than 24 hours. Also, Dylan lost his father not 6
months ago and I just want to be sure that this isn't just you looking for
a father replacement Dylan. I do want to say though that you look very
happy and natural together for it being such a young relationship but I
just want to make sure you both understand my concerns and that you think
about them. I don't want you both rushing head on it to this and then in 2
weeks it fizzle out and one of you decides its time to finish and the other
one ends of being hurt."

Dylan and I looked at each other both understanding what his Mom meant.

"Mom, I really appreciate your concern and I know you love me and will do
what ever you need to protect me but I want you to know I have never felt
like this about anyone ever." Dylan said sounding much older than his
years.

"You always said to me that you and Dad were love at first sight, for me
this is the same with Dan. The age thing doesn't bother me as I am the
happiest I've been for such a long time."

Dylan looked at me and smiled and it was then I realized that I did truly
love him. He was sat next to me justifying his position openly, with his
heart there for everyone to see and declaring his love for me to the most
important person in his life.

"Jane all I can tell you is this, I never intended for this to happen, I
went to help Dylan after he had an accident, but from that moment on my
life has changed; Dylan has changed my life" I said. "I'd like to think
that you know I'm honest and I open and I wouldn't sit here and say one
thing and do another. Yes I am older than Dylan and in the interest of
transparency you should know that I am 26 so 10 years difference.
Personally I don't think that that is too high but I do know some others
will not see it this way, but I am prepared to deal with that and I will do
my best to shield and protect Dylan from that. Dylan losing his Dad at an
early age is tragic but I see nothing so far to suggest that he's using me
as a father substitute, it's a truly equal relationship, but I know both
Dylan and I respect your views and we want you to be happy for us and not
to worry."

Jane looked at Dylan and then looked at me and nodded.

"Ok boys you know what you're doing and you know what my reservations are.
As long as you're both going in to this with your eyes wide open and are
there to support each other through whatever may happen then I am happy for
you." Jane announced. "Dylan you can't let your relationship with Dan
affect your school work and you must also remember that Dan has a very
pressurized job so you must understand that at times he might not be so
happy or so energetic, he deals with horror stuff that you can't imagine."

Dylan stood, walked over to Jane and planted a big kiss on her cheek before
wrapping his arms around her.

"I love you Mom, you're the best" he said tenderly.

"I love you too sweetheart, don't forget that and don't forget me now you
have a boyfriend." Jane said.

That's when it struck us both, we had just formalized our relationship; we
were now officially an item. Dylan walked over to me threw his arms around
me and kissed me square on the lips.

"I won't Mom, never is a million years" he said looking back at her.
