Avery's World

Chapter Seven

Avery and Rico sat at the kitchen table and impatiently waited
for Eric to load up their plates with corn on the cob, potatoes, salad
and the best; barbecue chicken.

"It looks great!" Avery said as Eric placed the plate in front of him.

"I'm starved." Rico added, though Avery was sure he was just saying
that to make Eric feel better. Rico had eaten twice as much as Avery
at the festival. Avery wondered how the boy stayed so skinny.

"I wish you had gone with us." Avery said as Eric sat down at the
table.

"I just had too much to do today, sorry. But the teddy bear you guys
gave me, just makes my day."

Avery frowned, though Eric was trying to look happy, Avery still felt
that the man was sad inside. He couldn't say exactly why he thought
this, he just did.

The meal was over quickly, Rico had eaten seconds and thirds and just
couldn't finish his fourth helping. He sat back in his chair holding
his stomach and moaning.

"You can't blame anyone but yourself." Eric laughed. "I don't think
I've seen anyone with such a healthy appetite. Are you full Avery?"
Eric asked giving Avery a wide grin.

"I'm completely stuffed." Avery said mocking Rico by rubbing his
stomach.

Eric laughed and started to clean up the table.

"Can we help?" Avery asked.

"No, I've got it. You guys go ahead and relax."

Rico motioned to Avery to follow him. They headed outside and onto the
porch.

"That was a fantastic meal." Rico said huffing as he sat down on the
steps. Avery sat next to him looking up through the trees.

"What is that?" he point up into the sky. Rico squinted his eyes and
frowned.

"I don't know." He stood and stepped into the yard. Avery joined him
and they stared with their mouths wide open in awe.

"Eric! Eric come here!" Avery screamed. Within seconds, Eric was
running outside.

"What's wrong?" he said looking around for the danger.

"The sky." Was all Avery could say. Eric stood by the boys and watched
as bright streaks of light flood the night sky.

"Wow, a meteor shower." Eric put his hand on Avery's shoulder and
massaged it gently. "Beautiful."

They all stood there in silence as the heavens put on its wonderful
fireworks display. Avery felt dizzy watching all these blazing
fireballs. He leaned into Eric for support, wrapping his arm around
the man's waist.

It looked like the shower was ending, when suddenly a larger light
flashed across the sky going in the opposite direction of the meteors.

"What was that?" Rico asked.

"Don't know. But it was definitely strange." Eric said in a hushed
voice.

They remained outside until they were sure nothing else was going to
happen. As they headed back inside, Rico whispered to Avery, "I bet
that was your dad." And pointed up into the sky. Avery looked up into
the deep dark space and smiled. Maybe it was his dad, it was a
comforting thought that his dad was watching over him.

"Movies?" Rico said to Eric as he jumped around crazily.

"Okay, movie time. What are we watching first?" Eric said heading over
to his video collection.

"I brought a few horror movies." Rico said retrieving his backpack.

"What did you bring?" Eric asked him. Avery sat down on the couch, he
was in no way an expert on movies, so he'd let the others decide what
they would watch. Finally, after a small debate Eric and Rico decided
on something called 'Nightmare on Elm Street'. It didn't sound very
scary to Avery, but Rico acted as if it was true dread. Eric took a
seat next to Avery and finally after recovering the candy from his
backpack Rico sat on his other side. Before the movie started, Rico
jumped up again.

"Hang on, can you pause the movie?"

Eric grabbed the remote control and the movie stopped before it began.
Rico dug through his backpack and pulled out a pair of gray sweat
shorts. The shorts looked as if they had seen better days. They were
frayed and the back looked almost worn through.

"I'm slipping into these, okay?" Rico held them up as if he needed
approval. Rico stepped behind the couch and changed. When he
reappeared, Avery had been right. The shorts had seen better days,
Rico's bare butt was visible through the thin material, but they did
look comfortable. Finally, Rico sat back down. "I'm ready for the
movie." Rico said giggling.

"Okay." Eric snickered. The beginning credits started, still didn't
look scary to Avery.

"Eric." He whispered.

"Yes?"

"Could you help me get my shirt off?" Avery held up his good arm, with
a little bit of struggling Eric managed to remove the shirt.

"Thanks." Avery said smiling. He scooted a little closer to Eric so
that his shoulder was touching the man. Eric as if understanding put
his arm around him.

Avery heard Rico huff and watched as Rico pulled off his tight shirt.

"Anyone want anything to drink?" Eric asked. Both boys said they did.

Once Eric was out of the room, Rico leaned close to Avery.

"I have another pair of shorts if you want to wear them. They're real
comfy." Rico tugged on his as if proving a point. Avery looked at his
shorts and shrugged his shoulders. "Sure, why not."

Rico had the shorts in an instant.

"Here you go." Eric said grinning foolishly. Avery stood and unzipped
his shorts, they fell to the floor and he stepped out of them. With a
little help from Rico, he got on the sweat shorts. These appeared to
be in worse condition that the ones Rico's were wearing. They were
very cozy; the soft material against his skin was pleasant. However,
they were frayed holes all on the right side and Avery could feel a
cool breeze on his butt. He also discovered that the elastic was
completely worn out. Avery wondered if Rico had deliberately given him
the worst of the two on purpose. Eric returned with the drinks and
stopped.

"Twins." Was all he said as he handed the drinks to the boys. As they
all got comfortable on the couch the movie began. It started out slow
enough, Avery wasn't too impressed. Then the action started, with ever
minute that passed, Avery scooted closer and closer to Eric.

"You all right?" Eric whispered. All Avery could do was nod. The movie
was simply frightening, but Avery couldn't take his eyes away from the
TV. Eric wrapped his arm around Avery and held him tight. There were
several moments during the movie; Avery had to remind himself to
breathe. That Freddy Krueger was the scariest creature Avery had ever
seen and the fact that he attacked through the dreams of his victims
made him even more alarming.

"Awesome movie!" Rico cheered as the ending credits began to roll.
"Did you like it Avery?"

"Scary." Avery managed to say, glancing up at Eric who had held him
throughout the fright flick.

"I'll fix us some popcorn, how's that sound." Eric said finally
releasing the boy. "Rico why don't you pick out something a little
less scary this time."

"All I brought was horror movies." Rico said rummaging through his
backpack.

"Take a look through my movies, maybe something will catch your eye."
Eric left the room and Avery joined Rico at the cabinet where Eric had
all his movies stacked up.

"Movie scared you didn't it." Rico said triumphantly.

Avery wasn't ashamed that he had indeed been frightened. The movie was
scary. "Yeah, those claws and his face! Man, it was freaky."

Rico laughed, but he never took his eyes off the videos on the shelf.
Slowly he ran his finger over each one, reading the titles carefully.

"Eric's got some strange movies here. Some I've never even heard of."

Avery spotted one that said Disney and pulled it out.

"How about this one?" He held it out for Rico to see.

"Jungle2Jungle?" Rico examined the cover and then the back of the box.
"Why not, looks funny, and the boy is cute." Rico said with a wide
grin.

"What did you decide on?" Eric returned with a large bowl of sweet
smelling popcorn.

"Jungle2Jungle, is that all right?" Avery asked.

"That's fine with me." Eric said and was about to sit when Rico raced
over to the couch and leapt onto the couch where he was about to sit,
almost losing his shorts in the process. Eric shook his head and sat
in the middle of the couch. With Avery on his left and Rico on his
right, Eric relaxed back into the soft couch.

The movie was funny, all three of them giggle and chuckled as the film
continued.

Eric left the couch once to fetch more drinks. Rico took it on his own
to describe in detail what Eric had missed in his absents. Avery found
it funny, after all Eric owned the movie, surely he had already seen
it, there was no reason for Rico to fill him in. However, Eric
listened patiently and thanked Rico as he sat back down. Avery
reclined against Eric and slipped his hand under the man's shirt, in a
hug. He ran his fingers through the curly hairs over Eric's chest.
They felt soft and tickled his palm. Avery rested his head on Eric's
shoulder and giggled as the large tarantula in the movie attacked the
fat Russian. Avery moved his hand over Eric's right breast and ran a
finger over the man's nipple. Eric responded by bringing his hand over
Avery and down his back, massaging gently.

The movie ended and Rico jumped up from the couch.

"What do you want to watch now?" he asked.

"Go ahead and pick, Rico." Avery said lazily. He didn't want to get
up, he was comfortable, his hand exploring Eric's chest and stomach
with his hand. In addition, he didn't want to interrupt Eric as he
massaged his back. Rico started searching through Eric's movie
collection. Avery giggled seeing that Rico's shorts were slowly
sliding down his narrow hips. He felt Eric's chest rattle as the man
also laughed.

"Rico." Eric said softly. "You may want to pick up your shorts." Eric
pointed to Rico's ankles where the shorts rested.

"Shit." Rico blushed and quickly pulled the stubborn shorts back on.
"That's not funny guys." Rico complained as Eric and Avery continued
laughing.

"Nice butt." Avery chuckled.

"Yeah, and you can kiss it too." Rico pulled down his shorts and
slapped a cheek. The shorts got away from him again and fell.

"Shit." Rico said again. "Stupid things." As he pulled them up, there
was a loud 'rip'. The shorts had snagged on his foot and almost ripped
in half. Ignoring the damage, Rico pulled them on, his butt visible
through the new hole.

"Stupid shit." Rico said thumbing through the movies again,
occasionally reaching back with his other hand to close up the
ass-gapping hole.

Without telling the other two what he had picked out, Rico started the
movie and dashed back to the couch.

"What is it?" Avery asked, he wasn't in the mood for another
'Nightmare in Elm Street' type of movie. Rico answered with a
mischievous smile.

Avery watched the TV anxiously, not sure he wanted to see what Rico
had picked out. The screen went black and then a picture faded in.
Avery felt Eric jump slightly.

"You picked 'You Are Not Alone'?" Eric said in a shaky voice.

"Yeah, it's okay. I read the back already. It isn't any big deal."
Rico explained. "Anyhow, the boy is really, really cute. Please, let
us watch it."

Eric frowned, but relaxed back into the couch. Avery pouted; he had no
idea what they were talking about, he hoped it didn't mean the movie
was too scary.

Rico flopped around trying to get comfortable. Finally he threw his
legs over the armrest and lay his head on Eric's lap. Avery smiled as
he saw Eric begin scratching Rico's back. It made him happy, that Eric
was paying some attention to his friend.

Avery watched the movie. He was glad to see that it had nothing to do
with monsters or demons. In fact, it appeared to be a love story
between two boys. The boys in the movie were beautiful, Avery decided
he liked this movie.

Avery kept his hand inside Eric's shirt moving it down to his stomach.
He discovered that Eric had a line of hair that ran from his chest
down through the middle of his stomach. Avery followed the hair down
until the man's pants blocked the way. Avery wondered if one day he
would have so much hair on him. Avery moved his fingers underneath
Eric's pants and as he did, Eric moved his hand down over Avery's
butt. Rico yawned and stretched wildly. He rolled over onto his back
and moved Eric's hand to his stomach. Avery smiled, he could tell Rico
had an erection. Obviously, Rico was enjoying the attention from Eric
a lot, but he looked very sleepy.

Avery pushed his hand and further inside Eric's pants, his fingers
wrapping around thick curly hairs. The movie came to an end, Avery
looked up at Eric. He put a finger to his lips and looked over at
Rico, who was fast asleep.

Avery stood up and watched Eric carefully move Rico across the couch.
Rico didn't even move as Eric made sure he wouldn't fall off the
couch. Avery thought Eric would head upstairs, but instead he motioned
Avery to follow him outside.

Once outside, Eric said; "Just needed to cool off a little." Eric
wiped the sweat from his brow. Avery hadn't thought about it before,
but two bodies were smothering Eric, he probably was burning up, but
too polite to say anything.

They sat down on the porch and stared up at the stars.

"Do you like scary movies?" Avery asked.

"Some." Eric answered as he pulled off his shirt.

"I don't understand why people like them. All they do is scare the
wits out of me."

Eric laughed. "I think that's the point of them." Eric was about to
say something else, when he suddenly pointed up to the sky. "Will you
look at that."

It was another great light streaking across the night sky.

"That is the strangest thing I've ever seen." Eric said.

Avery remained silent. Eric stood and walked to the fence.

"The town doesn't have any lights."

"Do what?" Avery asked joining the man.

"I can normally see the city from here. Look its black, Haven doesn't
have any electricity."

"What are you guys doing?"

Eric and Avery turned around to see Rico stumble out of the house, he
was rubbing his eyes and clinging desperately to his torn shorts.

"The town doesn't have any lights." Avery explained.

"Weird." Rico said looking at Avery as if he had the answers. "How
long have I been asleep?"

"Not long." Eric said walking back to the house.

"Eric." Rico ran up to him almost losing the shorts in the process.
"What do you think about us sleeping outside?"

"I don't see why not." Eric said. "There's a nice spot in the back of
the house. You guys go ahead around and I'll see what I can find to
sleep on."

Avery frowned at Rico. He had wanted to sleep in Eric's nice soft bed,
but now they were all going to sleep on the hard ground. It didn't
sound like much fun to him.

"Why did you want to sleep outside?" Avery asked Rico.

"So we can keep an eye on anything strange that might happen." Rico
explained. Avery nodded his understanding, but he was still upset
about sleeping on the ground. The two boys made their way to the
backyard. Eric was coming out of the house, a rolled up mattress in
his arms.

"This was in the back room, figured it would work." Eric said quickly
untying the mattress free. "Avery take Rico upstairs to grab some
pillows. I'll find us a blanket or two."

Once Avery and Rico returned outside, their hands full of every pillow
they could find, Eric had the bed all set up, blankets, a lantern and
three cokes all ready for them.

"Cool." Rico said grabbing a coke and flopping down on the mattress
with a loud 'rip'.

"Shit."

Avery and Eric burst out laughing; Rico's shorts were completely
ripped in half. "Damn it, it's not funny guys."

"Sure it is." Avery said between laughs. "Don't worry about it, we're
going to be anyway." Avery dropped his shorts and stepped out of them.
Rico blushed and then with a shrug of his shoulders pulled of his
ruined clothes.

"You too." Rico said eyeing Eric.

"I think I'll learn my underwear on, if you don't mind." Eric said
unbuckling his pants and pulling them off.

"Chicken." Rico giggled. Eric lay down in the middle of the mattress
with both boys on either side of him.

"Eric." Rico whispered. "What do you think caused the electricity to
go out in town?"

"Don't know. Downed power line or something I would think."

The cool breeze felt nice as it blew in from the south, they all lay
there staring up at the endless sea of stars. Avery wondered if his
dad could see him now. With all this that was happening, the circle in
the field, the streaks of light and the electricity going out in
Haven, was it all his dad's doing?

"Stars are beautiful aren't they?" Eric sighed. "I could stare at them
forever."

"Me too." Avery said rolling over to Eric. "Ouch!"

"What?" Eric sat up quickly.

"Forgot... about my arm." Avery also sat up holding his cast. "Roll on
the stupid thing. All I wanted to do is lay next to you."

Eric smiled, and placed a pillow next to Avery to rest his arm on.
Avery tested the pillow and it seemed to work. He put his good arm
across Eric's bare chest and his head on the man's shoulder.

"Comfy?" Eric asked.

"Yeah." Avery snuggled up as close as he could to Eric. "Hey Rico."

"Shhhh, Rico's asleep." Eric whispered. And indeed Rico was dead to
the world, still holding his coke. Eric carefully moved the coke and
placed it in the grass.

"He sure can fall asleep fast." Avery commented and ran his hand
through Eric's thick chest hair.

"Aren't you sleepy?" Eric asked.

"No not really. Are you?"

"I had a nap while you guys were gone today."

Avery moved his hand down Eric's stomach. Eric already had his hand on
Avery's hip massaging it deeply. Avery climbed on top of Eric, careful
not to hit him with his cast. They kissed, it was the longest kiss
Avery had ever experienced and it was wonderful. Eric sat up, bring
Avery up with him, still in this passionate everlasting kiss. Eric
began to lay Avery down, they both giggled as they realized Avery was
on top of Rico.

"Heavy sleeper." Laughed Eric, seeing that the boy didn't even move.

"I bet we could drag him to the front of the house and he wouldn't
even know it." Avery joked as Eric moved him off the sleeping boy.
Eric looked down at Avery and ran his hands over his thin body.

"You are so beautiful." Eric whispered.

"That I am." Avery giggled. Eric kissed him on the neck and then the
chest. Avery watched as Eric made his way down his body, anticipation
growing as he got closer to Avery's erection. Eric gently kissed the
head of the penis and Avery felt shivers of ecstasy shimmer through
his body. Slowly Eric took the penis into his mouth, pressing his lips
over it. Avery gasped at the wonderful feeling as Eric began to suck.
Avery grabbed the mattress tightly as if he might fly away if he
didn't. His muscles tensed and a familiar pressure was building up in
his groin. He had been masturbating for months now. A discovery he
truly enjoyed, but this was 100% better. The pressure built until
Avery could no longer hold it back. He let out a loud moan and
exploded into Eric's mouth. Eric waited until the last convulsion
stopped, before he let the penis out of his mouth. Eric gave the
softening penis a final lick and sat up.

"Wow." Avery said.

"Wow indeed." Eric laughed, and lay back. Avery crawled up next to
him.

"Sleepy?" Eric asked seeing Avery yawn.

"I guess I'm getting that way." Avery yawned again.

"Let's get some sleep." Eric said hugging Avery close to him.

Avery rested his head on Eric's chest and closed his eyes. The night
breeze caressed him and he slept.

"Avery! Avery wake up!" He didn't know how long he had been asleep,
but his body was stiff and his eyes were heavy and felt swollen with
slumber.

"What is it?" Avery asked slurring his words. He managed to open his
eyes to see Rico next to him.

"Someone's in the house." Rico whispered. "Eric has gone in to
investigate."

Avery sat up, looked at the house, at one time, he had thought it
forbidden, and evil, now he saw it as home.

"How... what did Eric see?" Avery tried to rub the sleep out of his
eyes.

"Man you missed it, the lights were popping on and off. I saw it
first. "Rico pointed over at a tree. "Taking a piss and saw it
happen." Rico pulled on Eric's discarded shirt and handed Avery his
shorts.

"Maybe Eric needs back up." Rico said, trying to sound like his
father. Avery didn't know about 'back up' but he wasn't going to just
sit there and let anything happen to Eric.

"Come on." He said motioning Rico to follow him. Rico look funny
wearing the oversized shirt. Avery hadn't noticed before but Rico had
very feminine features. With the shirt looking like a dress on him,
people would have a hard time deciding what sex he really was. Avery
rubbed his eyes again and shook this thought from his mind. He was
still half-asleep and couldn't focus well. They had to get to Eric and
make sure everything was all right. They approached the house with
caution, Rico pretending he was a police officer, sneaking from tree
to tree, jumping from shadow to shadow. They were about to open the
back door when it suddenly a figure appeared from it.

"AAAHHHHH!!" both boys screamed. Eric grabbed his chest and then
laughed.

"You guys scared the crap out of me."

"Scared you? You scared us." Rico said patting wildly.

"Did you see anyone inside?" Avery asked once he was sure his heart
hadn't leapt from his chest from fright.

"The front door was opened, but other than that, I found nothing."

"The front door huh?" Rico smiled. "We can look for footprints
outside. Rico took off through the house.

"Footprints?" Eric shrugged. "Let's go see what Mr. Detective finds."

Eric and Avery found Rico standing on the front porch as still as a
statue.

"Did you find anything?" Eric joked.

"Yes." Rico slowly pointed to the front yard. There in the lawn a
large circle made from stones.

"What the hell?" Eric stepped off the porch and examined the circle.
"Now why would someone do that?"

Rico joined Eric in the yard, Avery couldn't move. It was another
sign, it had to be. The night had been full of them, meteor showers,
town without electricity, light flickering on and off in the house and
now this. What was his father trying to tell him?

"Come on let's go inside." Eric said grabbing Rico's hand and leading
inside. "Come on Avery, can't figure out anything tonight." Eric
stopped at the door and looked at both boys. "I think we should sleep
in the house for the rest of the night."

"Yeah." Rico said looking back at the circle.

Once upstairs, Avery patted Avery on the back and said. "Why don't you
and Rico take the spare bedroom."

"I can't sleep with you?" Avery almost begged.

"I'm going to do some writing, you two go ahead and get some sleep."

Avery nodded reluctantly and took Rico into the room he had slept in
before. They clicked on the light and screamed. Circles covered the
walls, black-dripping circles painted over the dark wood paneled
walls.
