During the days immediately following the funeral of Mr. and Mrs. Juvencio,
the adjustment was hard on everybody. The grandparents remained behind to
assist Ron in tidying up their children's affairs, and to help with all the
boys, in any way they they could. Sandy and Rocs, who had been so strong up
until the funeral, were now either always in tears or in a state of shock.
Still, fortunately, their younger brothers really didn't understand what had
happened, but they were slowly beginning to, with help.

When the court date for the other driver came, they went to see it, as a
group. Frankly, the judge was disgusted with this defendant, as he had quite a
lengthy criminal record of driving while drunk, but now that two innocent
people had died, his life was over. He was going to prison. Before he
pronounced sentence, the judge asked if the family had anything to say. With
tears running down his cheeks, Sandy faced the man who had killed his parents
and asked him,"Why did you act so selfishly and drive drunk? My little brothers
no longer have a Mother and Father because of you! I won't have to raise them
alone, but you cost me some of my childhood, too. I hope they lock you away for
years!"

Sandy burst into tears, and collapsed. The judge, with a concerned look at
Sandy, said to the accused, "This court finds you guilty on two counts of
vehicular homicide, with a maximum sentence of twenty-five years for each
count. This means you will spend the rest of your natural live in prison.
Additionally, since you are a man of means, I am awarding punitive damages in
the amount of two miliion dollars per each affected member of the Juvencio
family, which amounts to a total of 8 million dollars, which will be paid
today. This court stands adjourned." The judge met Sandy and his brothers, and
wished them all the best of luck before he disappeared into his Chambers.

They returned home, and went to bed, because the combination of the drive
and the long day had wore them out. The next morning, Ron and the boys'
Grandparents went to see his friend, the judge in Family Court. He explained
what had happened to the Juvencios, and showed him their Last Will and
Testament. The Judge, who had helped Ron adopt Bobby, asked the Grandparents if
they agreed to the adoption. To his surprise, they did, and they explained why.
Once that was all settled, they set a court date for the adoption.

Now, nobody told the boys what was going on, so it came as a complete shock
to them the next morning when, after breakfast, they were told, "Get dressed in
your suits. We're going someplace special." They drove to the Courthouse, and
Bobby began to grin, because he knew what was going to happen. They had walked
into the Courtroom, and had barely taken their seats when the Bailiff called
out, "All rise for this Session of Family Court. The Hononorable Patrick O'
Riley, presiding."

The judge, a short, balding man with a kindly face, just smiled and
said, "Be seated, please. What I have before me is a Adoption case. Mr. Ron
Phillips, it states here that you were to be named guardian of the four boys,
if their parents perished, correct?"

Ron stood up, and said, "Yes, sir, that was what they wanted." The judge
continued, "And it also includes a provision for adoption, I see. If I may be
blunt, Mr. Phillips, why do you want these boys so bady?" Ron just looked judge
in the eye before he answered. "With all respect, Sir, it's not a case of my
wanting the boys, it's a case of them wanting me. The two oldest see me as
somewhat of a father figure, anyway, but the twins need a full-time father, and
they need to be kept together. They all do."

The judge grew silent for a moment, and then spoke. "I'm going to ask the
Grandparents and the older boys their opinions about this adoption in my
Chambers before I make my ruling. This Court stands in recess."

Ron bought Bobby and the twins sodas while they nervously awaited the
outcome of the meeting. It soon became evident, however, that the longer they
waited, the more nervous they became. Finally, after about an hour, the door
opened and out they came into the Courtroom, followed by Judge O' Riley. "Mr.
Phillips, from what everyone has told me, you have done your best to help these
boys, especially during their recent tragedy. They have indicated a desire to
be your sons, which their Grandparents were in complete agreement with.
Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I declare on Nov. 25, 2002,
Alessandro, Rocco, Santiago, and Domaciano Juvencio are now Alessandro
Phillips Juvencio, Rocco Phillips Juvencio, Santiago Phillips Juvecio, and
Domaciano Phillips Juvencio. Congratulations!" Sandy and Rocco went to shake
the kindly judge's hand, and wound up hugging him, instead. Now that they were
a family, legally, they felt there was something to celebrate, so they attacked
the nearest steak restaurant and had a good time.
