Chapter 26


	At noon I went to the pool area, to my shock I watched both Pat and
Bobby working around the pool and they had both the adults and the kids
happy and well cared for and one little boy came to Bobby and showed him a
boo-boo on his thigh and he carried the boy to the office and in a thrice
the boy came out with a lolly pop and XL band-aid on.

	I walked to the snack bar and a customer came to me seeing that I
wear a dark green sport jacket a mark of management at the hotel and my
name tag says `General Manager' `M. J. McMasters' he read my name tag and
said "we, my family have been here for three days and today the pool area
came to life and the two boys are the best and they understand people and
my son fell on the coping around the pool his fault but the bigger boy
picked him up and kissed his boo-boo and took him into his office and put
some salve on it and a band-aid plus he gave him a lolly pop and he was so
happy that he has not stopped talking about how well he was treated by him
I think he is a good addition to the hotel staff" I sat at the snack bar
and several others that knew who I am, said now that you have gotten rid of
that other piece of trash and replaced him with some one that cares.

	As I sat there I waved Pat over and said "how are you doing and yes
I will buy lunch" he laughed and yelled "Bobby, Dad is buying lunch" three
men at the pool edge walked to me and said "please let us buy the boys
there lunch and you are welcome to stay and eat with them" I smiled and
said "I came to find out how they were doing but I have a payroll to work
out and I usually eat at my desk in my office" one older man said "I use to
do that but in truth I found out that if I went out for lunch I came back
energized and I got more done on the afternoons that I went out to lunch so
I made it a rule go to lunch".

	I smiled and said "when I don't have HD paperwork I go home at noon
as I really have a good crew that works for me and that way I can go home
early", I looked at the boys and said as I picked up my lunch "enjoy your
selves and keep doing what your doing seeing that it seems to be working"
they both smiled and gave me a kiss on my cheek and Bobby said "thanks for
the Speedo's and they are more comfortable than I thought they would be to
wear" as I was about to walk away I said "we will be going home around
5:00pm so please be ready" I walked back to my office and in about an hour
I was starting to see over the top of the stack of paperwork and it looked
like I was winning and George came to the office door and said "you have a
visitor, Sir" as he stepped aside in came my X-pool manager and a man that
looked like attorney I said "to what do I have the honor of this meeting"
the X-manager said "OK lets cut the crap" before his lawyer cold talk I
looked at George and said "Mr. Palmer and now please" and I said "gentlemen
please sit down" and his lawyer handed me his card and said "I am here to
represent Alan in a wrongful discharge claim and he will be suing you for
that and he has put a price on his dignity and he is suing you for
2,000,000.00 and we can settle for 100,000.00 right now but if you decide
to go to court, we will only settle for 2 Mil. Now the ball is in your
court."

	I looked at the door and I said "let me introduce to Det. Lt. David
Palmer and I must tell you that the customers are so pleased to see you go
but I must admonish you and warn you at the same time one of them is a
U.S. senator and he and an other are both lawyers and if I called him as a
witness on my side you would find out that your case is so thin it is
anorexic, do you want to continue on, or walk out with your world in
tact",I stood and said "this meeting is over and you are leaving NOW" at
that I stood and Dave said "please walk this way and as a warning the front
desk is under surveillance and that tape will be reviewed and if my lab
people find that this is not your first try at BLACK MAIL we will meet
again under different circumstances".

	Both George and Dave stood shoulder to shoulder and George said "I
like his no prisoners rule but some times it is a little scarey" Dave
answered "only a little scary", George said "I spent the entire Vietnam War
on patrol on the Ho Chemin trail and my kill count stopped at 200 or that
is when I lost count", he looked at Dave and smiled and added "I was a
royal marine and I hate to admit it some times I liked to kill but after
the war I was able to return to civilian life with no lasting effects" Dave
said to me "will you need me any longer" I smiled and said "no, I will be
picking up the boys and going home soon" I looked at my watch and it was
4:55 and I closed my office door and walked to the pool area and when I
arrived the area we cleared and the lounges were stacked and the area was
clean as I looked around the snack bar operator was closing up and I walked
to him and asked "have you seen the boys" he laughed and said "not in 10
minutes since they cleaned up and by the way they are good and the little
one is really running the show and the bigger one respects him to a fault"
as we stood there they came out of the pool office and they were dressed
and ready to go home so I said "did you have a good day" they answered in
one voice "Yes Sir" when I got to my car I said "both of you are coming
home to my place for dinner then you have your own place to sleep, and
maybe tonight you can get along because if not both of you will be cut
loose with out any more of this bull shit.

	When we arrived home the other boys were waiting dinner and I felt
that this was the beginning of a good time to come after dinner Bobby took
all of the boys except Pat to the AV room and he sat on the rased stage at
the front of the room and without any hesitation he said "I had it all with
MJ, and my brothers, and I pissed on it because I thought as the #1 boy, I
could do anything and get away with it, but I was wrong and it took a boy
that had like me been befriended by MJ to set me straight and as a
forewarning he has hurt me in a short fight and he only did enough to stop
me not to punish me for my mistake and seeing that he is the pool boy at
dad's hotel and as of today so am I, so we live across the street and I
think that will work as well as me living here, and with Pat to keep me in
line I can make it".

	All of the boys came to him and shook his hand and one at a time he
apologized to them and as a group he said "my hope is that you can someday
trust me but as of today I cant trust me 100% so being separated from you
will help me to see what I have lost and give me incentives to be a decent
person".

	As Bobby came out of the AV room I was sitting in the kitchen with
Richard and his boy Barry and I said Bobby I think you remember Richard and
Barry, Bobby came to the both of them and said "I remember Richard and
definitely remember Barry seeing that you were the only one big enough to
satisfy Sean" I smiled and said "leave it to Bobby to remember something
like that about you", Barry said "at least he does remember me, isn't that
the reason you asked" now it was my turn to blush and the way I felt I was
doing just that, as we were talking the other boys came in and they went to
Richard and kissed his cheek one at a time as Sean came to him, Richard
asked him in an Irish whisper "is your butt healed since you met up with
Barry" Sean blushed to an almost painful point and said "yes, and it took a
week before I could sit normally and almost two weeks before the wet shit's
stopped, but I loved it none the less".

	Richard did something that I had never seen him do when he
announced to all "tonight I am taking every one to dinner and there will be
no arguments about it and as a side note our table is ordered for 7:00 in
other words 45minutes from now! So I think it behooves all of you to get
ready and we will go in two cars and seeing that MJ has a bus all of the
boys will go with him and Barry and I will follow in my car. I looked at
Bobby and Pat and said "go home and get cleaned up an be ready as I come by
and I will pick both of you up, seeing that your part of this crew".

	The look on both of there faces was priceless and they may have
been tired from a tough days work and wishing for a soft bed but they ran
home squealing like two little boys, the remainder of the crew ran up
stairs and I said to Richard "OK where are we going for dinner" he smiled
and said "a place that I have the menu memorized, the Kapok tree" seeing
that I was still in my green blazer all I did was take my ID off and I was
ready, Barry took Richard to their car and I backed the "bus" out of the
garage and the boys climbed in as they did no one sat in the front seat but
me and as Bobby and Pat came out I flagged them to the front seat an we
were on our way 20 minutes later we were parked in the restaurant parking
lot the head waiter stepped from the desk and said "Mr. McMasters your
party is waiting and please come this way" and the whole troop of us walked
to the private dining room and in there was my favorite Detective Lt. David
Palmer his lover and of all people my head desk clerk George and his `boy',
when we were all seated Richard said "I felt it was time that all or us got
together and had a good meal, and coming here was David's idea but I wholly
concur and seeing that David carries a shield he could get us in with out a
problem" every one laughed and I said "David why didn't you tell me that
this was up your sleeve" David just smiled" our waiter came to me and said
"one of the super specials is that we just are about run out of is colossal
size shrimp cocktails" I looked at him and said "farm raised" he looked
like I had hit him and said "no sir, fresh caught in the Gulf of Mexico
yesterday and last night" I looked him in the eye and said "one each for
every one, on a separate check to me" he snapped a salute and said "Yes
Sir" and went to the kitchen and in less than 5 minutes came back with a
huge tray and he passed out the Shrimp cocktails and they were as described
huge and 10 Shrimp in each serving.

	I looked at Richard and Barry and said "now this is what I call a
great Shrimp cocktail" and the sauce was not out of a bottle because it had
a horse radish bite much stronger than the bottled stuff we proceeded to
enjoy the best shrimp I have had in years, Richard said "the best thing on
the menu is Prime rib and the beef comes from Kobe Japan and seeing that I
have had it here before I highly recommend it" the boys all looked at me
and I said "as long as the boys all get doggy bags seeing that the Duchess
is not here to help her self" all of the boys laughed and I said "plus you
may want snacks tomorrow afternoon" Richard did all of the ordering and
said "please give me the Bill for the dinner seeing that my Dad paid for
the appetizers" we all ate with gusto and the waiter gave all of us a
folding Styrofoam box as a doggy bag plus Barry passed around a marker to
mark the top of each box with your own name and five plastic grocery bags
were also passed around so each group could take there boxes home with
them, as there was David and son, George and son, Richard and Barry, Pat
and Bobby, plus me and my boys (Tim, Marty, Sean, and Mike) so sitting at
one huge table were 5 adults and 8 boys, what a crew.

	As we finished I said "is everyone too full for some Dairy Queen" I
got a resounding NO! So we drove to the one near my place and I bought 13
cones and as we ate sitting at the picnic tables I looked at Pat and Bobby
seeing that they were sitting at my table and said "do both of you know how
close you came to being sent away" Bobby answered and said "I think I speak
for Pat when I say much too close but Pat can hurt big time and I feel that
we may be able to be a good pair of people as well as employees" I was a
little shocked and said "both of you can stay in the place you are in and
you will be responsible for the cost of your food and responsible for the
cleanliness of the interior and the gardening around the house" they looked
a little shocked at my bluntness but I was trying to see if they were
really trying to grow up, I smiled and said "I hope you two can survive the
summer together because at the end of the summer it is back to school for
both of you and at that point I will decide if you will continue to live
here or if one of you will come across the street and the other will go
somewhere else".

	No one could hear me except Pat and Bobby, or so I thought, when I
got home Richard called me and said "Dad do you feel that Pat or Bobby
either one that you decide that will have to find an other place to live
may want to live with me seeing that Barry is my assistant and he picks me
up in the morning and brings me home at night, we are friends and he is an
employee not my sex partner, I would want the boy as my legal Son and he
can help me before Barry comes in the morning and after I come home at
night plus Barry can take him to school as he takes me to work and pick him
up on the way home in the afternoon, and as he may or may not want to be my
occasional sex partner, his decision" I was a little shocked but it would
be a way of letting them down gently.
