			     Brett and Daniel
				 Chapter 5

Daniel was allowed home after a month and they drove to the Hall
together. Brett was struck dumb by what he saw. He couldn't believe what
Danny had achieved. It looked exactly as it had the day he finished the
renovation and refurbishment when he first bought it.

"Oh my love, this is absolutely stunning. Now we have lots of work to do
refurnishing it. We will bring a few things from the flat in town, but the
remainder we will have to hunt out."

Brett found the check for £50,000 taped to the wall nearest where his desk
had been. He tore it up and put the bits in his pocket.

"Now you have your money as well and we will use mine to refurnish. I would
probably have been replacing lots of things by now anyway, it is, after
all, nearly 12 years since I did this. No argument, or you get your first
spanking."

Brett was grinning and Daniel joined him.

"Ok Boss."

"This time we will do it together. What are we going to do first? Carpets
and soft furnishings, or furniture and then let the designers sort the
rest?"

"Oh, let's choose the furniture, I'm sure your designers will do the rest
as well as they did last time."

Brett felt that was enough excitement and effort for the first day out of
hospital for Danny. Time for home and some gentle loving. It had been so
long and Brett realised how deeply he had hidden his desire for this young
man.

Daniel had never been in the flat and was surprised at how masculine it
was. Brett had matured in a way he had not expected. The flat was
definitely a bachelor pad with no concession to the idea of a second
occupant. The largest bedroom had become the study. The en suite bathroom
had been sealed off and opened up so that the second bedroom was en suite
with only a ¾ size bed to maximise the remaining space.

"This must have been a tight fit Brett when you had company."

Daniel laughed as he said it, hoping he hadn't said something out of place.

Brett looked at him with a sad expression across his handsome face.

"I've never had company here Danny. You are the first person to see this
since I bought it, apart from my cleaner."

Daniel didn't know what to say, he couldn't get his head round the fact
that Brett appeared to have been celibate for so many years. He had to
know, he had to ask. He moved in close to Brett for a cuddle and spoke
softly into his shoulder.

"Are you telling me you have not been with another guy since you left the
Hall?"

Brett stroked Daniel's hair as he replied.

"I've never taken another lover since the day I rescued you from the
graveyard when you were fifteen."

Daniel was stunned, he pulled away from Brett to look in his eyes.

"I'm so sorry my love. I'll never be able to make it up to you for all the
anguish I have caused you."

Brett smiled down at his little man who, despite what he had been through
still looked too young to be here.

"You just make sure that you spend for ever trying then."

"Mmm, that sounds like a wonderful solution. Can we go to bed now for me to
start showing you how much I love you?"

There was nothing in the world Brett wanted more, but he was very cognisant
of Daniel's weak state of health.

"How about the reverse, and only some gentle loving until you are
stronger?"

"I'm going to be strong enough for you for the remainder of my life, my
love."

Brett swept the boy into his arms like he had done at the grave and carried
him to the bedroom.

"Hmm, you're a little heavier than the first time I did this, but still not
heavy enough."

"I'm not going to get fat, not even to please you."

"Of course you are, I have an unsatisfied appetite for you and need lots of
you to eat all up."

Daniel giggled.

"You are silly, I'm just going to get super fit so that I can make love to
you and with you all day if you want me to."

There weren't many preliminaries after that, they were soon naked and
snuggling together in bed.

There were tears in Brett's eyes as he looked down at the littler man that
he had not seen like this for years.

"I love you so much Danny, and have done for so long I can't even remember
when I didn't."

Daniel saw the tears and pulled Brett down to him so that he could lick
them away.

"I promise I'll make it up to you. I'll never give you cause to cry again
unless they are happy tears."

The lovemaking waited a while. They cuddled close and after a few light
kisses both slid off to the land of nod, the release of tension and
uncertainty after so many years exhausting them both.

When just thinking about someone makes you cry, then you know it is
love. Brett woke first and looking down at Daniel, the tears came, unasked
for and unwanted, but his love for this boy/man consumed him. He couldn't
now imagine his life without him, but five weeks ago he had accepted he
would remain a celibate bachelor for the remainder of his life. It appeared
to him that his existence was made up of total extremes. Total sadness at
his loss just a few weeks ago, now total happiness having his only love
snuggled in alongside him.

Brett determined that before they both went back to work he would have
Danny fit and that resumption of their love making would be in full
swing. It worked exactly as he planned. Daniel put on weight and turned it
to muscle just as quickly. Six months later neither man was
recognisable. Both now back at work lecturing and teaching. Both with an
incredible sparkle in their eyes that got even brighter when they were
together. A happy vicar, delighted to have these two wonderful young men in
his congregation and a beautiful church with woodwork that took peoples
breath away. Daniel couldn't look at his mother's beautiful grave and leave
the unattended ones looking so derelict, so he used some of his money to
pay for a gardener to keep all the graves in the graveyard looking good.

The road to happiness isn't always smooth, but it appeared to Brett that
the harder the road the greater the happiness at the end.
