Subject: causeway  chp. 2

      I had just experianced the greatest feeling of my life,and couldn't
wait to have it happen again,but we were coming into town,and more
traffic,so,Nick suggested I zip,button,and buckle up.As I did he wanted
to know what time I would be headed home.
      I told him,"I don't have to be back until about 8 o'clock.Why"?
      Nick replyed,"I  have stuff to do here in town,but should be thru
around 4:00.How about if I pick you up here on the cornor by this park
around then,and we'll grab a bite to eat.'
     "Sounds  like a plan to me,"I told him,as he pulled in and
stopped.He gave my leg a friendly pat,and I hopped out,giving him a wave
as he drove away.
    looking around,I saw an Arcade down the block,and went in to check
out the 'chines.
There was were a couple I had played before,so I dropped a quarter,and
killed a little time.There was a group of 4 or 5 guys around my age
horseing around across the room.One of them appeared to be maybe 12.He
wandered over and watched me for a minete.When I crashed,he asked,"you'r
new in here arn't you?"I nodded,and he stuck his hand out,and
announced,"I'm Duke.What do they call you?"
  "Tim",I told him,and shook his hand."I just moved down here for a
couple of months to stay with my Dad,and give my Mom a break,I guess."
    "Yeah,theres a lot of that divorce stuff going around.Mine too.Course
it makes it easy to get some neat stuff,and get away with doing
things.I'm 14,how about you?"
    "11,"I said,and must have looked a bit surprised,'cause Duke really
didn't look as old as I did.
      It must have been a look he was used to.He said,"I know,I

     Being an only child,and home schooled,I was begining to see where I

grinned as we zipped up,and headed back into the game room.His buddies
were still playing games,and grabass.When they saw us come out of the
'room with smiles on our faces,they started whistling,and hoo-hooing.I
must have turned 7 shades of red,but Duke just grinned,and made a "thumbs
up"sign.He introduced me to the other three guys as Chip,Doug,and
Billy,altho I didn't know which was which.We played a couple of games of
pool,until I noticed it was getting close to 4:00,so I told my new
friends goodbye,with a special THANKS to Duke,and headed off to see if
Nick would actually show up.He did,but that will be Chp. 3.
