Coincidence or Faith Chapter 2

Recap of Chapter One. A man, Adam, and boy, Tim, meet on top of a cliff.
They both were there to commit suicide for one reason or another. They had
just got done telling their stories and are now holding each other for
comfort. And now Chapter Two.

After embracing for what seemed like hours, but in fact only minutes. The
two finally separated. They just sat next to each other neither one saying
a word, they just didn't know where to begin now. They sat in silence for
a few more moments, until Tim finally broke it.

"Now what?" Tim asked.

"I really don't know" Adam says, "But you got your whole life ahead of you.
Surely you have somewhere to go?"

"No. Nobody cares about me." Tim replied.

"I can't let him do this. I have to do something. But what." Adam
thought to himself. Just before he could speak though Tim did.

"Can I stay with you?" Tim asked.

"Me? Hmm, why not. For now anyway." Adam replied.

"Thanks." Tim said and gave Adam a hug.

"Come on. Let's get going." Adam said and they got in the car and drove
off.

While driving neither spoke, Adam was busy thinking to himself and Tim had
fallen asleep. "What am I going to do with him? What will I tell people?
Uh, I found him when I was about to jump off a cliff. I think not. Oh my
god. What about the post and off line messages I sent. I got to tell them
the first chance I get that I'm still here. Man look how close I came to
doing it though. I can't believe it, and then Tim look how close he was
too. Was it Coincidence or Faith that both of them was there tonight?
Maybe God was looking out for both of them. But what about the future,
what will happen? Only time will tell." All this was going on in Adam's
mind as he drove home.

He finally reached the place and still had no idea what he should do. He
hit the button to open up the garage door and pulled inside and hit it
again to close it. He turned the car off and try to shake Tim awake.
"Tim, Tim we're here." Adam said. But Tim was out cold. "Poor guy must
be exhausted." So he got out of the car, went and unlocked the door to the
house and went back to get Tim. After he got him inside he laid him on his
bed, took off his shoes and covered him up.

After he made sure Tim was comfortable he went to get on his computer. But
before he did he noticed that he had a few messages on the answering
machine. So he hit play.

"Adam are you there? Come on pick please. It's Pete. Don't do this."
Pete says, "Look if you get this please call me OK. Please." Then the
machine told the time of the call, only about 20 minutes ago.

The next message started "Hey Adam, buddy tell me you're still there. Oh
man. Call me." The voice said. Adam knew who it was. It was an online
friend known as Shadow. The machine told what time it was and it was only
a few minutes ago.

After getting the messages, Adam figure he should call them first then go
make the post and off line messages. So he called Pete first.

After a few rings, "Hello. Pete here." Pete said.

"Hey Pete, its Adam." Adam said.

"Adam, my god you're still there. Man what happened?" Pete asked.

"Hehe, you wouldn't believe me if I told you." Adam answered.

"Try me." Pete said.

"Well.." Adam went on to tell Pete how he had left and went to the cliff,
drank, and was going to do the deed. But then he heard a noise and it
turned out to be a boy. At first he thought it was the alcohol, but it was
really a boy named Tim. Tim was there to kill himself. He told Pete why
Tim wanted to kill himself, and that he told Tim his story. And at the end
Tim asked to come here and so they did. Tim was now asleep and he was
getting ready to post and let people he was still alive. By the time Adam
got done telling Pete all this he had a tear stained face.

"Man that is some story. So are you all right now?" Pete asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine now. It's been a long night and I'm ready to hit the bed."
Adam says, "You mind if I call you back later?"

"No, you go get some sleep. I'll talk to you later. Bye." Pete said.

"Bye Pete. Take care." Adam said.

"You too." Pete said and hung up.

Adam hung up the phone then picked it back up to call Shadow. After a few
rings he got the answering machine. He waited for the beep and said, "He
man, it's me Adam. I'm still here and not going anywhere. Call Pete he'll
tell you. I'm going to get some sleep and will have the ringer off. I will
talk to you later. Bye." And he hung up. He then went online and made a
post and sent some off line messages just saying that he is still here and
don't worry he'll explain later, and that he was sorry for all the trouble.

He got off the computer and looked around. He got the note he left for his
dad, "I'm glad he didn't see this." He thought to himself. He tore it up
and threw it away. He went and put up his gun, making sure to unload it.
Making sure all the doors were locked, he went and checked on Tim. He saw
that he was sound asleep. He tiptoed over there and grabbed one of the
pillows and left the room. He went to a closet and got a blanket and went
to the living room. He took off his shoes, laid down on the couch, covered
up and turned on the TV. After about 15 minutes of watching television, he
turned it off and went to sleep.

"AHHH!" A voice rang out. Adam sat woke up with jolt, almost falling off
the couch. With a slight hangover from last night Adam thought to himself,
"Was it a dream?" Before he could think anymore about it someone called
out, "Momma, Daddy!" Adam got up and said, "It wasn't a dream." He ran to
his bedroom and saw Tim moving around, he was having a nightmare. So Adam
went and pulled Tim into his arms and started to soothing words to him,
trying to calm him down in his sleep. He noticed the time, he only had
about an hour of sleep and he was feeling it. After a few minutes of
talking to Tim, the boy woke up.

"What's going on?" Tim said in his sleepy voice.

"You were having a nightmare." Adam replied. He still held Tim in his
arms a brushed the boys hair out of his eyes. After looking at each other
for a bit, Adam finally laid Tim back down and said, "You better get some
more sleep. I'll be in the living room if you need me." And with that he
got up to leave.

"No wait!" Tim said making Adam stop and turn around to face him. "Sleep
in here. Please. I don't want to be by myself."

"You sure?" Adam asked. Tim answered with a nod. "OK, let me go get my
pillow and I'll be right back."

"All right, hurry though." Tim said.

"Hehe. I will." Adam said and left to get his pillow. He didn't run but
he did walk fast. He didn't want to leave Tim by himself for long, after
the nightmare he had. He quickly returned with his pillow and blanket in
tow.

"What's the cover for?" Tim asked.

"I didn't know if you would want to share yours or not. Hehe." Adam
answered, while walking toward the other side of the bed.

"Oh. Well we can share." Tim said with a smile and pulled back the covers
to allow Adam in.

Adam smiled back and said, "Thanks." He then put his pillow on the bed and
slid under the blanket that Tim opened for him. "Well lets try and get
some sleep, OK?" Adam said.

"All right. Good night, or good morning. Hehe." Tim said and laid on his
back to try and sleep.

"Hehe, yeah good morning and sweet dreams." Adam said and then thought he
shouldn't have said anything about dreams, but Tim didn't do anything when
he said it so Adam figured it was all right. And so Adam put his head on
his pillow to get some sleep himself.

"MONSTER! CHILDMOLESTER! MOTHERFUCKER!" The crowd said over and over, as
they beat the man lying on the ground. He tried to cover his head with his
hands, but they were using sticks, bats, and what ever they could get. It
had broken his hands, and blood was leaking from his ears. All he could do
was cry and wish to die. Everyone stopped suddenly, he turned over to see
a silhouette of a man holding a gun, and it was aimed right between his
eyes. Then there was a kid standing between, he was saying something.
What was he saying? He couldn't hear him. Then there was nobody but the
two of them. They were on a cliff, the boy was about to jump. But he
grabbed the kid's hand and pulled him away from the edge and held him in
his arms. Then he looked at the boy's face and he looked so familiar. The
boy started to repeat some words, he was hard to understand but it sounded
like, "Adam, Adam, ADAM!"

Adam woke up to Tim shaking him and saying his name. "Huh! Oh, Tim what
is it?" Adam asked.

"I think somebody is in the house." Tim said, looking very scared.

"What do you mean?" Adam said, just as a noise came from somewhere in the
house.
