Donny - Chapter 35

"Fool around?" Sammy got a puzzled look on his face.

I grinned at Chet and he said, "You know." Chet made the universal
motion known to all men and most boys.

"Oh." I think Sammy turned even redder, if possible. "Umm...I...Ah."
and he slowly nodded.

    "Great! Want to?" I asked.

    Chet giggled.

"Ah, umm. All of us, together?"

"Sure. Chet and I help each other out all the time, don't we numb
nuts?"

"Yeah. Except I usually have to get a microscope to find Donny's."

"Why?" The puzzled look returned. "Do you need glasses?"

Chet turned red. I giggled. "Yeah, he's blind as a bat. You know,
from playing with it too much."

    "Huh.....ooooh"

Chet grabbed my quickly growing member. "Blind am I? We'll see about
that."

Sammy started laughing too. "How, if you are blind?"

"You..." and Chet quickly moved to Sammy's now five inch pole while
Sammy and I collapsed in laughter.

Stress was relieved only once before Dad knocked on the door. He came
in and wished us all a good night with a kiss on the cheek or forehead and
a hug. No, he didn't leave Sammy out, much to Sammy's surprise.

After telling us to keep the noise down to a dull roar, and to get at
least some sleep before sunrise Dad left the room. Sammy turned to me with
tears in his eyes.

"Why did your dad kiss me? I am not his son."

Chet popped up, "I'm not either. I guess Tom just has so much love in
him that he likes to share it with people who are important to him."

    "But..."

"Chet's right. I never really thought about it that way, but it is
true. Dad has shown me love since the first day I arrived here. I am used
to it now and don't really think about it." Oh, shit. "Wait here, I got
something I gotta do."

I jumped out of the bed and was out of the bedroom in a flash. Dad was
just headed into his room after turning out the lights and locking the
doors.

    "Dad?"

He stopped and I walked up to him and threw my arms around him.
"Thanks for loving me, Dad."

Dad pulled me closer. "You're welcome, son. I will never stop loving
you, that's a promise. Now what brought this on?"

"Nothing. I just remembered that I kinda ignored you this evening and
didn't want you to forget me."

Dad chuckled. "I doubt that anyone who ever met you could forget you,
Donny. I know for sure I won't."

I snuggled a little closer, "Good."

Dad grabbed a bare cheek and squeezed. "Don't you think you ought to
get back to bed?"

"Oh, yeah. Nite, Dad. I love you."

"Love you too. Good night, son."

I returned to the room to find Chet and Sammy had shut off the Play
Station and just the bedside lamp was burning.

"Hey you two. Don't go to sleep without me." I jumped between them
and the three of us snuggled in to sleep.

School started the next week and Sammy was enrolled. Swimming was
finished for the year so the only excuses that Chet and I could use to get
him out overnight on weekends was to help with the finishing touches to our
house expansion. Dad gave us kids the responsibility for interior
decorating and furniture purchases. We had agreed that each room would be
outfitted with two of everything; bed, chair, desk, dresser, desk lamp, and
computer. Of course, all the computers would be linked up on the house LAN
so all would have Internet access.

I really liked how the house was laid out. The living room, dining
room and kitchen formed the bottom of a lopsided U. Dad's room, his
bathroom and the computer room on one side of the old hallway and my room,
a bathroom , then Sammy's room on the other side became the short leg. The
new wing finished the U with six bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a game
room/reading room. The Bowen's house would be laid out the same except
both wings would be two story.

Our house was pretty much finished by the end of January with just the
landscaping to finish up. The Bowan's place was ahead of schedule and they
could move in the first of March.

But we hadn't received word of when new kids would be moved in. I
guess the state wanted to inspect the place or something before placing any
more kids here. Turned out, they were justing waiting until most of the
construction was completed.

I don't know if I mentioned it but the pool house got major renovations
too. A girls locker and shower rooms were added, plus a full size
gymnasium with basketball court and weight room. Two tennis courts were
also put outside. Plus a soccer field was leveled and goals installed.

Doctor Bob took over one of the existing workshops and turned it into a
small clinic. Another was converted into a wood- and metal-working shop.
Finally, a big picnic pavillion was erected next to the pool house. The
ranch sure changed in a real short time.

Sammy's nighttime forays into my room became more infrequent. I guess
he sort of got used to sleeping by himself. And he started hanging around
with a different crowd at school. Guys Chet and I didn't like too much.
They weren't involved in sports or school activities, but always seemed to
be around when there was trouble. Both Chet and I suspected that some were
even into drugs. But Sammy seemed okay so we didn't say anything to Dad.

Chet and I gave up trying to get Sammy to stop hanging so much with his
new "friends" after we had a big blow out one night and Sammy accused us of
trying to run his life and everything. He said we had a good thing going
between us but didn't want him to find anyone he likes. Of course that was
wrong, but we couldn't convince him of it. Besides, Chet and I both knew
that Chet was straight, and what we were doing together was just for fun,
there was no love involved or stuff like that. I mean, he wouldn't even do
half the stuff that Carl and Cam did together.

And I knew that I was saving myself for Dad. I mean, he has got to
give in eventually, doesn't he? Didn't he say that he felt towards me the
same way? I even told Chet about how I felt towards Dad. He agreed with me
too. Then.

The first of March was when my shit hit the fan.

The Bowens' house was almost finished and they were going to start
moving in the next weekend. Most of the work was done, just a few interior
details needed to be finished and the contractor said they wouldn't be in
the way.

Dad arranged for CPS to come out and inspect that week for
certification. We had already gotten the other buildings certified as safe
and meeting code, now we needed to show that kids would be adequately
supervised and safe. The juvenile judge came with the CPS inspectors to
look over the place.

They spent the better part of two days going through every building and
talking to all the adults. Besides Dad, Doctor Bob and the Bowens, we had
to hire someone to serve as athletics instructor and lifeguard, a
maintenance guy, and another counsellor for the kids. They were hesitant
to allow the machine shop until Cod showed them that he could safely run
all the machinery in it.

But finally they approved, and the judge was there to sign the
certificate immediately. He made a speech (must be a politician, hehe) and
then signed with a flourish. He then said we will probably get a few
transfers from Boys Town in San Antonio as our first kids. After Sammy, of
course. Then he pulled Dad and I to the side.

"I'm not sure if you remember but Donny's hearing comes up next week.
Just so you can make plans, I intend to permanently terminate Russ Grimm's
parental rights at that time."

    Dad looked surprised. "Oh."

I didn't understand. "So what does that mean?"

The judge smiled, "Nothing but good for you, son. It means that you
will become a ward of the state and immediately eligible for adoption. You
will never have to deal with your biological father again."

"Oh...No shi...sorry. Does that mean I have to leave here?"

"No no, son. Not unless someone who doesn't live here adopts you."
The judge grinned and winked at Dad.

Dad appeared lost in thought until that moment. "That's not going to
happen. Don't you worry about that, Donny."

"Oh." Oh is right. Is Dad thinking about adopting me? That will be
great! He's my dad, and would be officially. Wow, really, really father
and son. Fucking awesome!

"Just remember, Donny." the judge grasped my shoulder. "Because of
your age, I would never agree to your adoption without your consent. So I
think you're safe." He winked again at Dad. "Well, I have to go. Tom, if
you need any help with paperwork and such just give Buddy a call. He and I
work together real well."

"Yeah, sure, Judge Thompson. I'll call Buddy real soon. I guess you
and I have to sit down and have a talk tonight, Donny. After dinner,
okay?"

    "Sounds good, Dad. Thanks, Judge."

"Not a problem Donny. I just wish all my cases would end this easily.
Take care, both of you."

We all decided to go out for dinner to celebrate the official opening
of Parker Ranch for Boys and Girls. Chet and I rode together and I told
him the good news.

"Shit Donny. I thought you wanted Tom as your partner, not your
father. If you two do get together, and he has already adopted you, isn't
that incest or something?"

Fuck. I didn't think about that! "Damn, Chet. That's right! There's
gotta be a law about that or something. Fuck. I want Dad, but I want Tom
too. What do I do?"

"You're just gonna have to make a decision, Donny."

"Fuck, and Dad and I are supposed to talk tonight. What am I gonna
do?"

We both were silent a moment.

"Hey, tell him you have to think about it first. Nobody said you have
to decide right now, did they?"

"No. Yeah, that's what I'll do if Dad asks me. He'll understand."

Like hell. Only, dumb me, I didn't notice.

Everybody was all happy and full of smiles throughout the dinner.
Doctor Bob and Cod even told some jokes that were, I'm sure, not meant for
Carl and Cam's young ears. When it finally broke up Doctor Bob went home
and the Bowens decided to spend their first night in their new home. Ha
ha, they had to use sleeping bags. I asked if Chet could stay with me, but
Dad said maybe he should stay with his family in their new home tonight.
Shit, no postponing our talk.

Once we got home, Dad followed me into my room.
