This is a story between males, young and old.  It is just a story so enjoy

				STATION 22

I was 11 years old when we moved to a new area.  The neighborhood was
really new.  Our house was a custom, and one of 150. Ours was the 8th on
the block, so it was new.  My friend jake lived in the second house to be
built.  he was cool.  He was 11 also, blonde hair , green blue eyes.  I was

paved, and looked at all the new building going on.  The new fire house was
almost done, the painters were getting it painted, and the fire truck came
in, it was big enough to hold three trucks but 1 was only till the area
grew.  It was about 2 weeks later the firehouse was done, and the area, had
a picnic for them.  mom told me to get to know them, they give tours of the
station and, they let you sit in there trucks.  ( she wanted me to start
thinking about my future).  So jake and I rode our bikes up to meet the new
people.  We dropped our bikes at the door, and went in.  Hello boys, a
large man with a white hat on said.  Hi sir, we just wanted to welcome you
to our neighborhood.  Well isn't that nice, hey guys look who came to
welcome us to the neighborhood.  He showed us to the kitchen.  Hello young
fellows they said.  Then they told us there names.  There were 6 all
together.  They said there would be more as the neighborhood grew.  So you
boys like a cookie?  sure, that would be great.  As we sat and ate a
cookie, a man, came up to us and talked more with us.  He looked to be in
his late 20's.  The others went back to there jobs.

Hi my name is Fireman Gary, and you two are: I am Jake, and I am Tommy.
Well nice to meet you.  I am the first officer, I drive the truck.  So
would you boys like a tour of the fire station?

	Wow that would be great.  Can we sit in the truck too?

Sure can, let go see it.  We went out to the truck and climbed inside.
then Fireman Gary showed us the different buttons, and gadgets.  Then he
put his hand on my leg.  I didn't think anything of it.  it felt like a

the next week we rode back up to the station, it was the summer, and this
year was the hottest ever.  In our area, they don't expect the heat so
nothing was built with air conditioning.  As we soon found out nither was
the fire station.  We dropped our bikes and in we went, hey guys how are
you today the guy at the switch board asked.

Great sir, is Gary in?  He sure is let me call him.  Speaker: First officer
Gary to the front, your boys are here.

	Wow did you here that, it was loud, and clear. That was neat.  Soon
Fireman gary came out and welcomed us again.

So boys what are you up to today,?

	Ah nothing, we rode to see you and finish our tour.

Well than lets get back to it.  Lets start in the kitchen.  This is where
our chef, mike cooks our food.  Today we are doing barbacue chicken , as
its so hot in here, we will cook outside.

Well lets show you the basement.  we walked down the stairs to the living
area.  it was large, and this is where they lived.  Gary told us they
worked various shifts, but would live here most of the time.

	Wow where do you all sleep, Jake asked,

Well little fellow, I will show you.  We walked to the far end of the
floor, just behind this door is where we live.  He opened it, and we walked
in.

	it was really cool.  there were 8-10 beds, with a locker closet at
the side of it.  Wow this is cool.  Then Jake said where do you guys
shower?

Well Jake let me show you that too.  In the back area, through the door
were the showers.  In we walked.  There was a guy showering in there.  we
walked by and peeked in.  Whoa, look at all the showers, many of them.

Yes boys you can spray yourself from all side, its really nice.  Maybe

	As we left the shower area, we went by the sinks, and then the
toilets.  We stopped to look.  They were lined up on one wall with a shower
type curtain between them.  it could be opened or closed.  So I asked Gary
why the curtains between the toilets?  He was about to answer when yep the
alarm went off.  Okay boys we have to go, you can stay or leave.

We got on our bikes and off we rode.  We went to Jakes house to try and get
cool.

Well it was a heat wave.  Lasted for months.  We found ourselves busy for
the next few weeks.  But as soon as we got a chance we rode up to the
staion to see the guys. It was so hot we took off our shirts and rode
around.  It was darn hot, we were ready for some water and food, so we rode
up waited for the truck to get back.  Wow look its all dirty. Hey boys are
you hungrrrey?  would you like to join us for lunch?

	wow, you bet that would be neat, sure would.  we ate burgers and
sodas.  as we ate Fireman Gary said he would like to finish the tour today.
He came over put his hands on our shoulders and said, I want to show you
boys where we relax, and play pool.  in our game room.

	Wow you have a game room.  neat.

It Has a pool table, and a few video games, we have a room for reading and
a room for meditation.  Thats where you go to relax and think. We got up
from the table and down to the game room we went.  I said to him I really
have to go to the bathroom.  He said well son, go ahead you know where it
is.  I walked in, pulled the curtain on both sides for privacy.  I sat down
and did my business.  I hear the door open, he came in said well you all
right in here?

	I said yep.

Then the curtain was pulled back.  Gary was sitting on the toilet next to

Next day we were bored again, We rode to the firestation.  It was abour 95
out side.  We took off our shirts again.  It was really hot, we were
sweating bad. Dripping wet.  as we entered the station house a guy came up
to us said well boys who do we have here?  we said we are tommy , and this
is Jake, we are here to see Gary!  who are you we asked?  I am Second
Officer Paul.  I am the newbie here.  So let me see, Gary is in the game
room, let me show you where it is.

	We know can we go see him?

too.  Okay boys lets tour the station some more, we need to finish up
today.  We walked to another room, this is where we keep our muscles in

	Jake-said-Hey tommy Gary and i are going to shower to get all the

Fireman Paul said now see your friend is not scared, you want to go home

	Um well No, I guess not.

With that we went to the showers and lockers.  Gary and paul watched us get
naked.  well boys aren't you lookers they said.  Paul then took off his
shorts.  wow I said.  Then gary too.  Jake said almost the same thing, wow
its big.  we walked into the showers.  Paul turned on the water for me, and
Gary and Jake were at the other end.  There was a button near the faucets,
when It was presssed the soap came out.  wow was that neat too.

Jake and I laughed as we washed up, and Paul and Gary helped us too.  they
washed our backs, arms, tummys, then helped with our legs.  I watched as
jake bent over and Gary cleaned his rear area.  I heard Jake laugh and say

we finished up, then the guys dried us. they dried every inch of your
bodies.  then we were asked to dry them.  we did.  Then Paul and gary said,

As we got dressed I noticed the guys didn't wear underwear.

	Hey Paul don't you need under pants.

Well We had fun riding our bikes.  we wore no under wear, and let our legs

	We walked down to the reading room.  it was darn hot out.  they
took off there shirts.  we got to the room, and went in.  it was arranged
different, it had 2 lazy chairs in it.  okay boys get seated and watch the
show.  Jake asked what the name was?

Boys it is called the boys of the french scouts.  Its about the boys in
scouts in another country.  we sat on the chairs then we were told we'd be
sharing with the guys.  The men sat down first then, we sat with them.
They wanted us on there laps.  (okay being 12 we were still nieve) didn't

The movie started, off with guys in a pasture 3 of them, walking.  then

We didn't get back all summer, we had many family vacations and stuff to
do.  we managed to get into trouble a lot since we saw the firemen last.
Jake and I had the last event at station 22 on our minds a lot.  we often

Well school started as usual, in september.  we both had 2 more years of
junior high.  wow.  The year was going slow, so i told jake I was going
back to the firestaion to visit the guys.  After school jake and I got on
our bikes and rode over to the station.  hey guys whats up?  jake and i
said.  Boys what brings you both back here?

well we are back in school and wanted to be sure you still worked here.  We
had a great time last time we were here.  we had to do a lot of family
stuff this summer, so we were kept busy.  plus we managed to get into
trouble a lot.

They wanted to talk with us all night but we had to get back home for
dinner. see you guys later.........Christmas vacation was coming up so that
friday after school it was snowing as usual, and Jake and I met at the
firestation.  we wanted to say hi to the guys.  we walked in and waited for
them to get back.  The truck backed in , and there was fireman gary at the
wheel and fireman paul next to him.  They saw us and smiled.  Hey guys
whats up?  nothing we wanted to tell you it was christmas vacation.  we
want to come play pool next week.  No problem they said just let us get you
our schedules for you.

we got the days we can come play pool.  As we left the cheif stopped us and
told us the guys were getting transfered next year.  The area was getting
bigger, and there were new stations that needed them.  I said but when are
they leaving?  Well next year in late june.  thank you sir, see you next
week.

On monday mom told me to play all day as we were busy the rest of the
week. I got ready to see the guys.  I called Jake to see if he was ready.
He came over in his snow suit.  It was cold out.  The snow was deep too.  I
put on my snow suit then we walked off to the station.  The area has really
grown, the street had houses all the way to the station.  the new store was
being built accross the street, and A really large white movie theater was
comming to.  I had other friends but they were busy for the vacation week.
We got to the door, walked in, and the guys were doing there chore.

Hey boys they said, what are you doing today?  we came to play pool.  great
the guys are down stairs cleaning up. Head down and see them.  we ran down
the stairs to the pool table area.  Gary was cleaning the reading room, and
Paul came out of the bunkhouse, with the kid from down the street.  Hi sam,

	Hello boys is it pool time already?  well we better get you out of
those snow clothes so we can play.  Gary came over to help Jake get the
snow suit off of him.  Paul said goodbye to sam, and then I followed me
into the bunkhouse so i could take my suit off.  As Paul helped me, I asked
him what sam was doing here?  he said he has started coming bye to use the

	Paul said that a few other guys came by to use the weight room, and
play pool too.  We have the faucility to use so we reach out to those who
want to lift weights or play pool, or just watch TV.  Well looks as if your

This was the year we turned 13, everyone said it would be the best, well so

	We visited the station twice a week.  like we said we'd do.  The
Fire station was growing and changing daily.  there were workmen there to
build out the lower level, according to Gary and Paul, the new area of
women fire fighters were coming in.  So we made this year the best.  We
stopped by on tuesdays and thursdays.  Jake and I were getting busy.  lots
of homework, and now we started getting chores to do, anyways Fireman Gary
and Paul, were loving the attention.  Plus some of the other guys in the
neighborhood would ride up to the station to work out in the weight room.
I was ask by Fireman Gary if I could come by on a wednesday to see him.  I
said I would, when I got there, he was in the basement with another guy
from the area.  they were playing pool too.  Hi Gary I said, he looked at
me, smiled then said Tommy, can you meet us in the reading room.  I went in
and waited.  He and jack came in and , Jack sat in the chair and Gary
turned on the TV.  He stuck in a tape.  Then with a flash Jack was

to home.

	 The next week we rode up on thursday.  When we got there we were
told to put our bikes on the back pourch.

  Whoa it had 2 other bikes there too.  We went in, the guy at the desk

have learned well.  so lets get to more pictures.  We did what he said.
the other guys joined in.  Gary told us it was for charity.  what did we
know.  we were just kids.  He said the fire mans fund, has a banquet, and
the sell the photos to the highest bidder, so we need to make them good.
The weight bench came in handy. Jack was laying on it, then Paul would play

Well this went on for weeks.  then the summer was coming school was on its
last week.  Jake and I made a pact to go see Gary and Paul the day after
school was out.  we got out on the 19th.  then the 20th was on a

As we rode, we were wondering what today would bring.  As we got closer we

Mike, Jack, Sam.  hum what are they doing here.  We all got off our bikes
and went inside.  The cheif came to get us.

	Hey boys nice to see you so early, would you like some breakfast

Sure that would be great..................The Fireman cook made pancakes,
bacon, eggs, coffee and OJ.  it was really good.  We sat at the big table
with the firemen, between us.  it went Tommy-13, Gary, Jake-13, Paul,
Mike-15, Fireman Cook, Jack-15, The Chief, Sam-14 and Fireman Brian.  Now
this was cool, we sat near the firemen as they told us stories from there
job.  many things not to do, and many things that just happen.  They wanted
to be sure we knew not to drive too fast, and not to be stupid while we
were kids.

	When we were finished, the guys asked us to help with the dishes.
we did.  then we sat at the table again.  the guys had us play some card
games with them.  while we played the chief took pictures of us playing
cards. We played poker, black jack, crazy 8's.

 During the card game, the Firemen would rub our backs or chests.  felt
nice.  Then Gary asked Jake if he wanted to take off his shirt.  He did,
then the rest fallowed.  we were all sitting around the table with no
shirts.  The Cheif was taking movie pics of us.  it was an old movie camera
of some kind.  We played cards for about 15 more minutes.  Then the guys
told us they had a suprise waiting in the basement.  wow, lets go see.  we
all walked down the stairs to the pool area.  Okay guys here's what we are
doing next.  suprise we are playing strip pool.  huh what we all said.

take movies of all of our activities.

	So lets get started.  The pool ques were all used, the boys had to
share.  The Firemen had a que each.  Firemen Gary was first.  As we played

dressed.  he then left.  we were told to scoot close together for the last

I heard him but couldn't see him.  I was then aske dto lay on Pauls bed.

if I could call my mom.  He said sure, I called her told her I was sick,
and I needed a ride home.  I told her I was at Firestation 22, if she could
get me before she went home.  I told Paul she would be here soon.  He took
me into the shower, and washed me up.  He had a medicine that he could give
me to make it look as if I were sick.  I took some.  I then got dressed and
went to the freshly cleaned bed, He told me to lay and wait for her to come
and get me.

I can say only this thirteen was the best year I ever had.  I can also say
I was ahving fun.  today boys are out getting into trouble, shooting each
other.  Too bad, a little love can go a long way.  wish the old days were
back .  The firemen, we transferred to other stations, and the station22
continued to be a hang out.  it changed but it was still a safe place to
