JUVENILE DETENTION

Chapter 46 – The Collection

When they arrived at Josh's old house Josh saw only his mother's car in the
drive; this raised his hopes that his stepfather was not there. Getting out
the car, Josh began to shake with tension. Simon moved up beside him and
held his hand for a short while, assuring him that with him and his dad
there things would be alright. Simon let go of Josh's hand as Karl rang the
doorbell, and the three of them waited for it to be answered.

Josh's mother, Jennifer, opened the door and looked rather startled when
she saw Karl with Josh and Simon. "Josh, what is it?"

"I've come for my things, please."

"Well, you better come inside then, and we can talk."

"Is he here?"

"No, Derek is out for the evening. Please try and be nice about him."

"I don't think I have the strength to do that. We can't wait all
evening. Just give me my things and we will go."

Karl and Simon were a little shocked. They had not seen Josh like this. Not
knowing what had gone on between him and his mother earlier, they were
struggling to understand his behavior. Wisely they kept quiet and let Josh
go ahead of them into the house.

"I found your NI card and a few other documents that you might need, but I
can't find any phone. Derek says there wasn't a phone in the stuff he got
from the police."

"That's bullshit! I was across the table from him when he signed the
receipt for the things he took away. I told you he had probably sold it. I
bet my laptop is also missing." Josh took the envelope with his NI card and
other documents in it and hurried to his old room. One look at the desk in
his room told him the laptop was missing, as were his DVD player and flat
screen television. He went to his cupboard and pulled out the back pack he
had used for school and almost cried in relief. Suddenly he was very happy
that he was a neat freak and had put things away when he got home from
school the day he was arrested. Not expecting to use his laptop again
until he got to school the next day, he had put it into his bag ready to go
with him to school, and it was still there. He checked under the desk and
was relieved to find the connection and charger for his laptop there and
quickly packed them into his backpack, emptying the now useless schoolbooks
out onto the desk.

"Need any help?" Simon had followed the sounds and found Josh's room,
leaving his dad with Jennifer.

"The bastard has taken my television and DVD player, but thankfully my
laptop was in my backpack in the cupboard and he didn't find it. Can you
take that photo off the wall there? That's my real dad. I'll just get some
clothes together and find a box or something to carry them in." Josh began
to pull clothes out of his wardrobe and chest of drawers. After handing
Josh the picture of his father, Simon went out to ask for a box or
something that Josh could carry some clothes in. Jennifer handed him a roll
of bin bags. Arriving back in the room with the roll of bags, Simon held an
opened bag out to Josh. "Typical. I'm just rubbish to them," Josh spat out
and began to stuff clothes into a bag.

Josh and Simon carried his stuff out the room and down the passage. As they
headed to the door Jennifer asked, "Josh, please can we try talking again
sometime? I really am sorry, believe me. I don't know what I'd do if you
walked away from me."

"Maybe you should have worked that out before you deserted me in favour of
that prick you call your husband."

"Josh, please. It's not like that, and Derek really is a good man."

"A good man? You've got to be kidding! Good for nothing! I got punished for
something I did not do. I've suffered for it because your good man just
wanted to have at my things to sell them and have me out of the way so that
he could fuck with you more. And you chose him over me. I got abandoned and
sent away for a good man? When you work that one out come and see me, but
not before." Josh turned and ran to the car. Simon quickly followed him and
helped him to put his things in the car and then held on to him as Josh
buried his head in Simon's shoulder and wept.

A few moments later Karl walked up to the car and told the two boys to get
in the car.

"Wait! Do you think we could somehow manage to fit my bike in the car,
please?"

"I reckon we can manage that. Let's go and get it." Karl turned back to
the house and approached Jennifer, who was still standing in the doorway.
"Josh would like his bicycle too, please."

"It must be in the garage. I'll get the key." Jennifer went back into the
house and returned a few moments later with the key. She and Karl went to
the garage and Karl took the key from her to unlock the door. A single
glance over the garage revealed that there was no bike. "That's funny. It
should be in here. There's nowhere else it could be."

"Yes there is. It's at the pawn shop or second hand shop along with my
phone, television and DVD player, and who knows what else. Still call him a
good man?"

"Josh, I ... I ... don't know what to say ..."

"Better you don't say anything. It will only make it worse. Goodbye,
mother." Josh turned and ran back to the car and the arms of Simon once
more. Karl gave Jennifer a sad look and walked back to the car, telling the
two boys to get in. They both got in the back seat, and Karl pulled
away. The journey home was done in almost total silence until they were
nearly there.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to see that. I knew it was a bad idea for me
to go there, but I didn't have a choice either. I can't go back there
again."

"Josh, it's okay to be upset. You have good enough reason to be, and you
need to be able to show your feelings with us, because that is the only way
you are going to work through it. I still think you might benefit from some
counselling too, and that should be paid for by the state. But we'll talk
about that another day. I understand now why you are so upset by your
mother. While you were packing she was talking to me and it was all about
how she was feeling. I know she is your mother and I think you still love
her; I think that's why you find it so hard to deal with her. We will do
our best to help you get through this. That is a promise."

"And now you also have a brother to help you."

Josh looked at Simon and saw him smiling back. Josh could tell that Simon
really meant what he had just said. Karl kept quiet, stunned. He had hoped
that Josh and Simon would become friends, but he had never expected Simon
to change so dramatically. And he had not expected any change to happen so
fast.

Later that night, as they lay side by side in their bed, Karl was telling
Esther about the visit to Jennifer and how some of Josh's things were
missing. He also told her about Josh's attitude and how he had broken down
twice over the lack of support and caring his mother had shown. "She is one
selfish woman, that Jennifer Ambrose. She has married this man who has
basically built a wall between her and her son, and she still only thinks
about herself and wants Josh to be kind about Derek Ambrose. I am not
surprised Josh will not even mention his name. The poor boy has been cut to
shreds inside and is really struggling. I think we are going to have to see
about getting him some counseling for this. I will have a word with Groggen
about making that part of the compensation package from the state."

"You're a good man, Karl Silvey. And that kid is a good boy. Look at the
change in Simon already. What a turn around. I don't know how he does it
but according to that officer's wife, he turned the whole prison around
while he was in there too. You know I don't care how much it eats into our
savings; I want Josh to stay with us as long as we can get him to."

"Thank you, my darling, I want that too. Tomorrow I am going to take him
out and get him a bike and a phone. He will need both of those to get work
and to get to work; he won't be comfortable asking for lifts all the time."

What followed turned out to be some of their best lovemaking in many years.
As a result they woke up a bit later than usual the next morning, but that
was not a problem as it was Saturday and neither of them were working. They
woke up to some very appetising smells. After taking care of their
immediate morning needs, they wandered through to the kitchen in their
dressing gowns to find Josh beavering away at getting a breakfast ready for
the whole family.

"Josh, that smells really good. What a pleasant surprise," Esther said.

"When dad was still alive and I spent a weekend with him I would make us
both breakfast and then I would take it through and we would sit together
in his bed and eat. It was something I did to show I loved him. I wanted to
show you that I love you guys too."

"Oh Josh, my darling boy. Come here. We love you too and hope you will stay
with us for a long time, because you bring so much to our home." Esther
stepped towards Josh and pulled him into her arms to hug him to her bosom.

When she finally released him, Karl just pulled him in for another quick
hug and pat on the back. "We really mean that about staying. We want you to
look on this as your own home. We are not family, but we will be the best
family for you we can be. Thank you. Thank you for this breakfast, but
more, thank you for adding value to our lives."

"You are all the family I've got. At least that I feel I can call a
family. I promise you I will do my best to return your kindness and love."

"You have already done that and we are sure it will just continue as will
ours for you and together we will go forward." Esther held Josh's hand and
then leant forward and kissed him on his forehead.

Josh's eyes glistened with tears but his face beamed with joy. He quickly
turned back to look after breakfast and asked, "So do you two want yours in
bed? If you do I will bring it through to you and you can go and get back
into bed. I had thought of taking Simon's to him in his bed and then eating
mine with him."

"You are spoiling us. But that would be nice. We will await your service."
Esther smiled at Josh and taking Karl's hand, led him back to their
room. Once out of earshot she said, "I think he needs to do this to cover
his pain over his mother." Karl agreed with her, and they shed their gowns
and got back into bed to wait for their breakfast. Josh carried in both
trays at the same time, showing he had had some experience, which they
guessed he had got doing it for him and his dad.

Leaving them with their breakfast, Josh collected his and Simon's
breakfast, which was crammed onto one tray because he could not find a
fourth, and quietly entered Simon's room. He carefully put the tray down on
Simon's desk and moved over to the bed, where Simon was still asleep. He
gazed down at the relaxed, peaceful face and bit back a sob, realising just
how much he was missing Sam. Reaching down he shook Simon's shoulder,
bringing him to consciousness almost straight away. "Fancy a bit of
breakfast in bed with your brother?" He smiled at Simon who took a few
moments to assimilate what Josh had said and then he smiled and pulled the
covers back a bit inviting him in. Josh fetched the tray and came back to
the bed, passing it to Simon to hold as he got on the bed and pulled the
covers back over himself. The two boys ate in silence for a while, then
Josh said, "Thank you for what you said in the car yesterday. It meant a
lot to me and helped me a lot too."

"I said a lot in the car but I am guessing you are meaning the brother
bit. I really meant it. I want us to be like brothers. I never had one and
neither did you, so we can learn together how brothers do things."

"That would be nice. I think it is kind of cool. What time do you finish
school on Monday?"

"About half two, why?"

"Well now that I have my NI card I thought you might like to go around the
agencies with me and see if we can both land some sort of part time work."

"I'd like that too. I also would like to introduce you to a couple of guys
who I look on as friends. I don't have any real friends but that is because
I have been such a jerk. But hopefully now I can be better and become a
person to be friends with."

"Why do you think you have been such a jerk, as you put it? Is it because
of your confusion over your sexuality?"

"Okay. Look, I know I'm gay. I haven't tried anything with anyone yet, but
I know how I feel and what goes on in my head when I wank it. Girls don't
feature at all. But I have felt the need to try and hide it. Then along you
come, and you have no inhibitions and tell me you are gay, and you are a
normal sort of person who is actually very nice. I have heard dad say that
you were well liked at the prison. You have let me see you naked and shaved
and talked to me about Sam and some of the things you guys have done
together and I realised that I wanted that too. I don't know if you would
be willing to help me learn a bit of the ... you know ... physical
bits. But I do know that I would like to try some things with you and I
want you to see me naked and hard because I don't want to hide anything
from you. And maybe JB could stand for jerk buddy."

"I thought this was where you were heading to yesterday when we got
interrupted by your dad getting home. So I have given it some thought. I am
not sure how I am going to cope with it. I mean, I know that Sam is doing
stuff with the other guys there in the Academy, and he is expecting that I
will do a bit of the same while I wait for him to get out. But I am not
sure how I will feel, actually doing it with someone other than Sam. When
we get a chance we can give it a go, but please don't be offended if I say
I can't do it. You know I really do love Sam, and while I love you too, it
is not in the same way I love him. Between us it will be as friends just
getting some physical relief. Does that make sense to you?"

"Yes, it does. I never want to come between you and Sam, and I hope that I
will get to meet this guy, because he must be someone very special to take
your heart the way he has. I also never want you to feel guilty about
me. Either when we do stuff or if you find you can't do it." Simon took
the finished breakfast tray and twisted in the bed to place it rather
precariously on the bedside cabinet. Turning back he took hold of Josh's
hand and moved it over to place it directly on his throbbing boner.

"Shit! You're naked under here. I didn't realise that. I thought you would
be in boxers or something."

"No. Too much trouble to take care of little me when I want to if all that
clothing is in the way."

"Well it certainly feels nice but I can't do it now. I gave your folks
breakfast in bed as well, so they are awake and they might come in."

"Shit! We will have to make sure we get some time home alone together. But
in the meantime, this is what I want you to see." Simon pulled back the
covers and then got out of the bed and slowly turned a full circle in front
of Josh, revealing his naked body and his full erection. Nothing hidden,
nothing covered. "Shit! I need a piss really bad now." Simon picked up a
dressing gown off the end of his bed. Pulling it on, he tied the girdle,
which just accented the tent his hard cock was making. Josh laughed softly
and then Simon pulled the girdle down and tucked his cock under it to hide
the bulge before making a dash for the toilet.

Josh got out of bed and adjusted his boner to a more comfortable position
and picked up the tray. By the time he had got the tray to the kitchen his
boner had softened and he went back down the passage to the parents'
room. Knocking softly on the door he asked if they were ready for their
trays to be taken and was given the all clear to enter the room. Profuse
thanks followed him as he carried the trays out the room and back to the
kitchen, where he washed everything up and put it all away. He was sitting
in the lounge when Karl came through and told him of his plans to take him
to get a phone and a bike and reminded Josh that it was coming out of
savings so it was not a problem for them. Josh was very thankful and said
he would keep a record of the costs and they would get repaid when he got
some money.
