JUVENILE DETENTION

Chapter 60 – The Interim

Life carried on in the Silvey home much as it had since Josh's
arrival. Josh avoided contact with his mother. That was not hard, as she
made little attempt to contact him. Presumably the man she had chosen over
Josh's father was keeping her under his thumb on that score.

Simon and Godfrey grew closer, and their relationship began to be more
apparent; Simon's mother commented on it a time or two. Finally, one
evening while they were all sitting at the table eating their tea, she
asked Simon what he really felt about Godfrey. It was as if the gates had
opened. Simon started off simply, "I love him and want to be with him." For
the next half an hour he poured out all that had been inside him. The
struggle he had tried to win by being rebellious and the way Josh and
Godfrey had helped him to come to terms with the fact that he was gay and
wanted to be with boys rather than girls. Esther and Karl had stayed silent
throughout, letting Simon speak without interruption. Josh had got up from
his chair and moved to stand behind Simon and put his hands encouragingly
on his shoulders. Tears had trickled down his cheeks and dripped off his
chin as he talked, wetting the table cloth. Finally through a few wracking
sobs Simon said, "I'm sorry if this upsets you. I'm sorry if you feel I
have let you down, but I can't change the way I am."

"Simon, the way you are will not change the way we love you. Even before I
took Josh to the Academy, I suspected you might be gay and that the trouble
you were getting into and the way you were behaving was connected to the
way you saw yourself. Your mother and I never stopped loving you. You are
our son. You have been since the day you were conceived, you always will
be, and we will love you no matter what. Our only regret is that we have
failed you, because you did not think you could come and talk to us about
how you felt and what you were going through. We do not think you have let
us down. We let you down and need your forgiveness."

Josh looked over at Karl. Through his own tears he saw a tear escape from
Karl's eye. Esther had tears running down her face and was not even trying
to stop them. Blinded by her tears, she got up and felt her way around the
table to Simon. Josh moved out of the way, and she wrapped her arms around
her son. They both began shaking as they cried. Esther did not need to tell
Simon that she loved him and accepted him as he was, because her love was
conveyed through her hug and tears.

Josh walked around the table to Karl, put a hand on his shoulder and gave
it a little squeeze and then went to his own room to give the three of them
some privacy. After a while he got his things together and went off to the
bathroom to have his shower. When he came out of the shower he could hear
them still talking in the dining room. Josh pulled a tee and some tracksuit
pants on and went to the kitchen and put the kettle on. Quietly he entered
the dining room and began to clear the dirty plates out of the way, finding
all three family members standing to the side of the table in a
hug. Hearing the clink of the plates they broke their hug, and Esther
looked at Josh with so much love in her expression Josh nearly started to
cry himself. To prevent that he picked up the last of the dishes he could
manage and made a quick escape back to the kitchen, where he stacked those
dishes in the washer before returning for more. On his second trip he asked
if any of them wanted tea or coffee. That question seemed to break the ice,
and all three of them began to help clear the table, with Esther insisting
she would do the coffees.

Simon followed Josh into the kitchen. Leaning over he gave Josh a kiss on
the cheek. "Thank you. You have helped us to become a family again."

"You always were a family; just you couldn't see it through your fear."

"Do you think Godfrey and I should come out at school?"

"I can't answer that. I don't know the people at your school. You and
Godfrey need to talk about that and decide together what to do. I will
support you whichever way you choose when I start at school, but remember
there might be some who could give you a hard time just because of me and
what has happened. The next lot of hearings could take place before I start
with you guys and make things fresh in their memory. And I will have a lot
to catch up on now."

"You can always look at my work and books to keep up as much as you can
without being in the classes."

"I know and I will. Thank you."

That evening four people went to bed with myriad thoughts whirling around
in their heads, but all managed to get to sleep thanks to the relief of
having things out in the open.

Sam and Josh kept up a regular correspondence, and with the emailed news he
got through Steven he knew that Sam was doing well and when he was to be
released. His mother had claimed, some weeks earlier, she would not be able
to collect him. Josh spoke to Karl and asked what the procedure was, to
which Karl replied that the state had to get him to his home. "So will the
government pay for a train fare then?" Josh asked.

"Usually they give them the cash and leave it for them to find their own
transport." Karl could see the wheels turning in Josh's head as he moved
away to ponder the information Karl had shared with him. Karl spoke quietly
to Esther and then went and knocked on Simon's door. A little while later
he knocked on Josh's door. "I have a little proposition to put to you," he
began and then offered to give Josh the money he needed for a train fare
for himself and some for Sam too. He said that Josh could bring Sam back to
stay a few weeks with them while he got his life sorted, or Josh could
accompany him to Sam's own home and then come on back to theirs, leaving
Sam behind. He told Josh that Sam would have to share Josh's room if he
came to stay, as they did not feel it would be right to ask Simon to share
his room.

"It would not be right to ask me not to share with Sam," Josh said and
laughed. Then he stood up and hugged Karl. "You and Esther and Simon are
some very special people and I love you all very much. Thank you. I will
email Steven tonight so he can speak to Sam and then let you know. And I
will add the money to what you have already given me, to be repaid when I
can."

"You know our thoughts on the money. I just think that we should be paying
you a fee for helping Simon. We were afraid that we were losing our son
until you got him back for us, and for that there is no limit to what we
owe."

"There is no base either. I don't think you would have lost Simon forever;
you are too good as parents for that to happen. I think the biggest problem
Simon had was with what he was putting you guys through rather than what he
himself was going through."

"After the way he was that night he came out to us, I think you might be
right. You are a good guy, Josh, and I ... no, we are so glad to have had
you as a part of our lives and our family. You do know that Esther and I
both look on you as our son and not just some guy who shares our home?"

"And you guys have been better parents to me than my own mother and my
stepfather, even as much as my real father was before he died."

"I think we had better stop there or we will both be crying. Just remember
you will always be welcome in our home no matter what the future holds for
you."

"And when I have a home of my own, you will never have to ask to
visit. Just arrive and there will be a place and a welcome for you."

Karl did then have to turn away. He went back to his own room, where he
found Esther and related their conversation. Both of them needed to use
some tissues before he had finished, then Esther hugged him and said, "I am
so glad you got to drive the poor boy to the Academy that day. He has
brought some joy into our home and our hearts." If Karl had not had the
snip, the chances are that their lovemaking that night would have resulted
in a sibling for Simon.

Steven's response to Josh's email was to invite him to arrive the day
before Sam's release and spend the night with them and then accompany
Steven to the Academy the next day. Josh could spend the day with the
inmates again. They would process Sam out to go home with Steven and Josh
and spend the night at Steven's house. He would take them to the station
the next morning on his way to work and they could get the train to go to
Sam's home. As much as Sam wanted to go with Josh, he knew he needed to go
and see his mother first. Once again there would be some highly irregular
bending of the rules in Josh's and now also Sam's favour. Sam was going to
be the second person in the history of the Academy who did not get sent to
solitary for even one day during his six month stay there.

Although it had been some weeks since Josh had last been at Steven's home,
Susan and Marcie recognised him the instant he walked in the door. By the
time he got his bag put away and sat down in the lounge, Marcie had
collected a book and was climbing into his lap to have a story read to
her. Abigail and Steven just smiled and wondered what the two girls would
make of Josh bringing a friend home the next evening. Once again the two
girls ordered Josh to help them with their bathing. When Josh looked at
Abigail she just smiled and shrugged her shoulders.

On the way in to the Academy the next morning, Steven did ask Josh to be
very careful with how he behaved with Sam in front of the girls and to make
sure their lovemaking was both quiet and after the girls had gone to
bed. Josh assured Steven that they would be very circumspect and would not
do anything to embarrass Steven and Abigail or leave them with difficult
questions from their girls.

The day at the Academy went by in a blur of greetings and conversations,
with some interesting lessons from the teaching officers. In one lesson he
was seated next to Nathan, the same boy he was seated next to for the first
lesson he had at the Academy. Nathan was still good looking and still eager
to get into Josh's pants, and he made sure that Josh knew that. However,
Nathan also respected that Josh had a boyfriend and didn't try to press the
issue.

Josh accompanied Sam as he was processed, He was very proud when Sam read
the inventory of the items he had handed over at the beginning of his time
and agreed that they were the same items he was getting back. He was even
prouder to see Sam write his name and sign the form. Taking his overalls
off, Sam stood proudly before Josh and Steven. Without any embarrassment he
did a little turn for Josh to see all of him for the first time since his
last visit. When Sam began to pull on his clothes he began to giggle. He
had grown quite a bit during his six months; now his jeans stopped half way
down his calves and his shirt could not button properly over his chest. He
couldn't tuck his shirt in as it was a bit short. But that did not stop him
from walking out of the Academy proudly, knowing that he had gained from
being sent there and now had a better chance of doing something worthwhile
with his life.

Susan and Marcie did not know how to react to this boy with the funny
clothes, but when they saw him being accepted by their parents they
accepted him too. They also prevented any interaction between Josh and Sam
that could raise an eyebrow, because they quickly had Josh reading a story
or playing with their toys with them, sitting either in his lap or beside
him. Watching them, Sam was smiling as much as Abigail and Steven
were. When Sam and Josh were eventually alone for the night, Sam said, "I
see that I am going to have to be careful about who I let you be
with. Those two girls have got you wrapped around their little fingers."

"I know. They are so special and sweet. But there is only one person that
gets to wrap their little fingers around me."

"Even that is not true, or else you have written lies to me about Simon and
Godfrey."

"They might have touched and given me some pleasure, but there was no real
love in it. There has only been one to give me that pleasure with the love
that makes it so much better, and that is what I have been longing for ever
since I got out."

The two boys pulled together in a tight embrace and shared the longest kiss
since their time in the infirmary several weeks earlier. As they kissed
their hands roamed, over clothing and under it wherever they could, but
eventually their hunger overcame them and they stripped each other as fast
as they could. They fell back onto the bed, grinding their hard cocks
together, and resumed kissing. Once more hands roamed, now trying
desperately to get between them to reach the prize of a sticky penis to
fondle and feel. Separating, they moved into a sixty nine position on their
sides and those sticky appendages were soon being licked and sucked like
lollipops. Fingers felt and stroked smooth skin and played with hairless
ball sacks and bums, heightening the pleasure each of them was feeling.
Josh knew that he had told the truth earlier, because he could feel the
difference between their lovemaking and the sex he had with the others and
it made him feel very good. They did not need to be warned when their
mouths were going to be flooded with cum. Each could tell when that was
going to happen, and they wanted the cum in their mouths anyway.

They had stayed in the lounge with Abigail and Steven for a couple of hours
after the girls had gone to bed to be polite, but now that their lovemaking
was complete the house was silent. They got up long enough to pull the
covers back and then lay back down on the bed and pulled the covers over
them. Pressing their naked bodies together they began to kiss once more,
but not for as long as earlier. With their legs and arms entwined and their
faces inches from each other they drifted off into a contented sleep.

The noise of the household coming to life in the morning woke them, and
Josh suggested that Sam borrow a set of his clothes which would fit him
better. They all had breakfast together, then Josh said a special goodbye
to the two girls before Steven took them off to the station to catch their
train. The journey took three quarters of an hour, and soon the boys were
walking the street leading to Sam's mother's flat.

"My home is a shit hole of a place, and mum has not been too good at
housekeeping, probably since before I was born, so don't be too shocked by
what you see. You better let me go in first, because she might not be in a
respectable state of dress."

"It is still what you know as your home, and she is still your mother. I
will not judge you for that. I already know you better than that."

As they approached the block of flats Josh was a bit shocked at how drab
and grubby the building and surrounding area looked. He had never seen
places looking like this except in films or on TV, and he always suspected
they made them look worse for the effects. Now he saw that such places
actually existed, were real! Sam led him in the building entrance and to a
flight of stairs. The building was dark inside and as grubby on the inside
as on the outside. They climbed the stairs to the third floor, where Sam
turned and walked down the corridor to another corridor going off at right
angles. Josh was right with him, but as Sam turned the corner he broke into
a run. Josh sprinted after him and caught up as Sam stopped at the door to
a flat. Josh could see there were workmen inside the flat and that it was
being fixed up and redecorated. As Sam stood there a man came to the door
and asked what they wanted. Sam explained that he was looking for his
mother, who lived there.

"She don't live here no more. Took off a few weeks back, apparently without
a word to anyone, and without paying me the rent. She owes me two months'
rent and her deposit won't pay for the cost of cleaning this place up. So
when you find her, tell her to come and pay me my money."

At those words the colour drained from Sam's face, and Josh put his arm
around his shoulders. Sam stood staring for a bit, then he turned and
walked back the way he had come, stopping at a door on the opposite side of
the corridor. He knocked and waited for it to be answered.

"Why, hallo Sam. Where you been? Haven't seen you around for a while," the
man at the door greeted him.

"I have been at an Academy. Do you know where mum is?"

"'Fraid not, Sam. Sorry. She was just gone one day a while's back. Didn't
say fuck all to anyone she was going and didn't leave any notes or
nothing. Maybe she found a sugar daddy."

"Uh, okay, thanks. See yah." Sam turned and walked away towards the stair
well.

Josh got to thinking and knew there was only one thing to do first. As they
were going down the stairs he voiced that thought. "We had better go to the
police and ask if they know anything".

"Yeah, I guess we had, but I am scared of what I might find out."

"I would be too. But I'm with you and I won't leave you."
