Chapter 11
Fun, Danger, and Victories

The next morning was very hectic to say the least. I quickly jumped out of
bed as soon as my alarm clock started it's anoying buzzing. As I entered
the kitchen, I saw Maria standing at the stove cooking breakfast for
everyone.

"Good morning, Mr. Anderson." She cheerfully said. "The coffee is ready now
and breakfast will be ready in about 15 minutes." She added.

"Good morning Maria, you don't officially start to work until Monday." I
said with a big smile as I took my first sip of my coffee. "I'll go round
the boys up and get them ready for breakfast."

When everyone began to eat I told Maria and Sarah that Martha and Mrs.
Gonzalez would be taking them and the boys into town this morning right
after breakfast. Before breakfast was over there came a familiar knock at
the kitchen door, and Teddy jumped up and ran to the door saying Uncle Hank
and Aunt Martha are here.

I quickly stood up and asked Martha and Mrs. Gonzalez to come into my
office for a minute, while Maria and Sarah took Pedro and Little Miguel
back to their apartment to get them ready to go to town. Once in my office
I handed Martha my credit card. I told them to totally outfit the boys and
both ladies and not to take no for an answer. I went on by saying get them
everything from boots, jeans, cowboy hats, and anything else they may think
they might need.

When Martha and Mrs. Gonzalez left with Maria, Sarah, and Maria's boys,
Hank and I organized the boys into teams to help get things done around
here so we could leave for the rodeo grounds as soon as Martha and
Mrs. Gonzalez gets back.

We worked hard for the next couple of hours getting things ready and by the
time Martha and Mrs. Gonzalez got back with Maria, Pedro, little Miguel,
and Sarah, we were all ready to head to the rodeo grounds. We loaded the
horses onto two horse trailers and divided everyone up into different
vehicles and headed off to the rodeo grounds to get everything set up.

Once we arrived at the rodeo grounds the boy's excitement grew as they took
in everything going on around them. I quickly got their attention and
explained to them that we needed to get the horses taken care of first
before we go grab some lunch. Well lunch was the magic word. They all
pitched right in and we got the horses settled into the stalls that were
assigned to my ranch and then we all left to get lunch.

When we got to the restaurant, I jumped out and ran in to talk to the
manager about getting us a private room because of our large group. The
manager was more than glad to help and showed us all to a very nice private
room him self. When we all had ordered and our waitresses had left, I began
to tap my knife against the side of my glass to get everyone's attention.

When I had everyone's attention I began to speak, "Okay everyone, I have
something very important to say and I want you all to listen to me. I want
you all to have fun this weekend, but I also want you all to be careful and
stay safe. You kids must have at least two adults with you at all times,
and what ever they say goes, no matter what." I ended my little speach
with, "Now, are there any questions?"

Seeing there were no questions about this I began to tell them all about
what was going to happen tonight. I told them the barrel racing would be
the first event right after the singing of the National Anthem, and that is
when the twins began to sing in perfect harmony the Star Spangled Banner.

It was like listening to identical angels sing and we all clapped loudly
when they finished. Right then I got a great idea. I called the twins over
to me and wispered a question in their ears, and when I got identical nods
from them I excused myself for a moment and went outside to make a phone
call.

By the time I got back the waitresses were there passing out our food, so I
asked Little Miguel to say the blessing and when he ended the prayer with a
soft amen we all began to eat.

I explained to our bunch we had a lot to do when we got back to the rodeo
grounds and I wanted them all to get their horses washed, brushed and ready
for the grand entrance parade. I also told them they could put their good
western clothes on in the motor home after they took care of their horses.

When we arrived back at the rodeo grounds the boys immediately began to
wash their horses and brush them out until they were shining. When the boys
had their horses taken care of, they began taking showers two by two until
they were clean and dressed in their western clothes.

Martha, Mrs. Gonzalez, Maria and Sarah all helped the boys get dressed and
looking their best and then the adults began to get ready. Then I took
everyone around to introduce them to all my friends and to the officials.

About 4:30 I loaded Perry, Jerry, Martha and three of my off duty officers
into the wagon and started them toward the arena. Once at the arena's
entrance Perry and Jerry expertly halted the team.

The announcer began to welcome everyone over the PA system and all the boys
began to get real excited. At exactly 5:00 Matt, Hank, James and I led the
wagon into the arena with two of us on each side of it.

We carried flags and the wagon also had huge flags painted on each side of
the canvus. When we were in the center of the arena the announcer asked the
audience to please rise for the National Anthem and the pledge to the flag.

While the audience was rising a young clown ran out to the wagon and handed
both Perry and Jerry a wireless mic, and when Jerry and Perry began to sing
the Star Spangled Banner, you could have heard a pin drop. It was like
listening to two angels singing in perfect harmony.

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed
at the twilight's last gleaming. Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly
streaming. And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave
proof through' the night that our flag was still there. O say, does that
star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the
brave.

When Jerry and Perry finished singing the audience gave them a standing
ovation. Then the young clownd ran back out to the wagon to get the
mics. When the little clown was out of the way they turned the wagon around
and headed out of the arena.

"Oh man, I don't think I've ever heard the Star Spangle Banner ever sung
like that before, that was awesome." The announcer said. "Now cowgirls and
cowboys, are you ready for a great show tonight?"

After the audience calmed down some he said, "Okay rodeo fans the first
event up tonight is the Seven to Ten year old Youth Barrel Racing
conpetition. Our first contestant is young Timmy Green, and he is riding
for Jeff Anderson's New Hope Ranch. He is riding a beautiful black and
white pinto named Lady Hawk."

When the bell sounded Timmy was off in a flash heading for the first
barrel." The audience was really getting into cheering for this young man
as he showed off his impressive riding skills.

"Wow, Great ride Timmy! Timmy's time is11.02 seconds, very impressive
time." The announcer said as the audience cheered for Timmy.

After Timmy's exciteing ride it was my Mark's turn next. The announcer began
introducing Mark by telling the audience that he came all the way from
Philadelphia Pennsylvania just to compete in the rodeo tonight. When Mark
came around the last barrel the croud went wild with excitement and the kid
nappers chose that very moment to make their move.

They ran up snatched Perry and Jerry off the fence from where they were
watching Mark's ride and they headed toward their van while everyone was
watching and cheering for Mark.

Shawn was the first one to spot the kidnappers heading toward their van with
Perry and Jerry and he quickly sounded the alarm by screeming stop them.
Jeff and I heard Shawn screeming and took off on horse back after the men.
As we gained ground on them we both loosened our ropes and began to make our
loops. We tossed our loops at the same time and Jeff and I hadn't lost our
touch because each rope found their mark and took down a kidnapper. As Jeff
and I jumped off our horses to secure the kidnappers Shawn Randy and Teddy
came riding up and they helped get Jerry and Perry out of danger.

As soon as Jeff and I saw that Perry and Jerry were safe and riding off
with the boys we began to show these assholes just what Texas justice was
all about. We wanted to send a strong message to all scum bags that we
didn't take kindly to assholes messing with our kids. We showed them jerks
just how a good oh boy ass whopping feels like. The police showed up a few
moments later and took control of the situation.

When the police arrived they quickly handcuffed and stuffed the two assholes
into one of their patrol cars. Then they began to question us to get all the
facts about what happened. After they questioned everyone that was involved
or that saw anything pertaining to the crime they took the assholes to jail.

Over all the rodeo was a huge success and Jeff's New Hope Ranch raised
385,000 dollars. Jeff and I won the team roping event and one of our boys
placed first in every event they were in as well. But what made me the
proudest was when our boys went up to receive their prise money they told
the judges that they wanted to donate it to the New Hope Ranch. When the
audience heard this each boy got a standing ovation. Our boys started
something that day because every cowboy and cowgirl that won an event in the
rodeo/horse show ended up donating their prise money to the New Hope Ranch
as well. But the greatest thing that happened was the last two assholes in
the kiddy porn ring were caught and Jerry and Perry was now safe. Now that
Perry and Jerry didn't have to worry about any of the scum any more they
settled in well at the New Hope Ranch.

Things got back to normal for both families as we went back to Philadelphia
and the sale of the other ranch went off without a hitch. Jeff was able to
start construction on the dormitories and school almost immediately and nine
months later New Hope Ranch was ready for kids.

As soon as we got back to Philadelphia I threw myself into my Karate Force
project. Within two weeks of arriving back home from Texas I had the hotel
fully staffed and sixty five kids off the streets. I ended up adopting
Randy, Travis and Timmy before saying that was enough kids. My house was
full and complete.

Ten Years later.
Travis and Timmy are still together and have adopted a set of six year old
twin boys named Kenny and Jimmy. Randy and Mark are together and have
adopted a three year old little girl and a seven year old little girl. As
for Shawn and I we are still happily together and have adopted twelve year
old Andrew. After he came to us from a very abusive home. The Karate Force
project was a huge success. We have over two hundred and fifty kids in each
hotel.

This may be only a story but I'm asking you to please do some thing to help
a child today.

The End.

The National Anthem

Composed by Francis Scott Key, "In Defense of Fort McHenry" in September
1814.
Congress proclaimed it the U.S. National Anthem in 1931
