I think this one is a little on the short side. I hope you readers are not
too disappointed.

Eleven: Getting Comfortable

We were now convinced that what ever this was about had to do with our
scholarly work and little or nothing to do with our real lives. That was
not to mean that we would not be potential targets. If our previous work
up set these people off our new paper would be even more infuriating.

We call the FBI back and put them on to this although we had no real
evidence that anyone was intending to harm us. Dirk had a plan. He did
not share the details with me until about a week later. In the mean time
he and I kept very meticulous records of when we thought we were being
watched. Where we were exactly and what we were doing at the time.

By relaxing ourselves to a hypersensitive state of openness we could not
only become fully aware of each other but to anyone else around that also
had our powers. We did not think our stalker, as we termed him, had these
powers, we assumed he was just very intense and it was this intensity we
were picking up. It is also possible that more then one person is stalking
us and only one of these people is that intense.

Dirk was able to ascertain, one of the graduate students in Art History, a
department not physically far from History but well way from Economics, was
one of us. He would see to meeting him in the next few weeks. I got no
vibrations from anyone around my corner of the campus.

Several older boys were introduced to us as possible house boys. We didn't
meet them as such, we were given letters of recommendation and some
background information. I started to build a comparison matrix on a spread
sheet. We were discussing this in the faculty lounge in the fine arts
building which is half way between Economics and History. Dirk was looking
it over when one the Theater Arts profs, that often shared coffee with us,
stopped by. He is appreciative of us, since we were not involved in his
department‚ no internal politics. We are appreciate of him since
he is talented and erudite. He was interested in what we were doing, so I
explained.

"Sam, I have a lad I would like you to consider. He is my nephew and lives
in Watertown. I think it would be good for him to get out from under her
blanket, if you know what I mean," Gerald said.

Dirk pulled out has pad and took down all the information.

"Do you think he would be interested? You know it is a two year
commitment. Dirk asked?

"Yes, and that is what he needs more then anything. Besides, for a gay boy
living in a small Wisconsin town, you two buff men will be like gods to
him," Gerald said.

That makes five candidates.

Dirk and I looked over the matrix that night and eliminated one as being
not quite suitable on the academic side. We held telephone interviews with
the four remaining boys. I think the most important questions related to
why they wanted the job. What we wanted to hear was a desire to learn and
grow as persons. We decided on Gerald's nephew Truman and the lad from
Racine, Mark.

I called them all back the next day and thanked them for their interest,
setting up interviews with the two selected and putting the other two on
temporary hold, saying I would get back to everyone in a week or so. None
of these candidates knew anything about the LP's and none knew each other.
In a way it was like going to boarding school. You know only the catalogue
outline and nothing about your roommate. Mark and his parents on Saturday
and Truman and his parents on Sunday.

The FBI boys had two special cell phones delivered to us by FedX. They
came in a special box, which I didn't know about, until Dirk told me and
when we were away. That was to insure the package sat on the front porch
all day, in complete view of the surveillance camera. I was surprised that
Dirk made sure to have gloves on when he brought the package in.

Before he opened it we reviewed the surveillance tape. There she was. Not
a he at all. A small non desrcript women with brown hair and a long coat,
that was to warm for the spring weather. She picked up the package giving
our camera a good look at her face. Looked at it carefully and copied down
the tracking number and other information on a small pad.

Neither of us had any recollection of having seen her before. The tape did
not indicate where she had come from so it was not a car parked in front of
the house or along side it. She had come east along the boulevard. The
FBI boys came and dusted the package for prints picking up several and took
a copy of the tape. Dirk then opened the box showing us how the OAS did
it. Sure enough the packing was such that if it had been opened before, he
would know but the opener would not have realized they tripped the trap.
It had not.

Inside were two cell phones. These were quite special phones. They would
only call one number and only receives calls from that one number. It was
a Pacific Northwest area code. The phones also had a GPS tracking system
that could not be turned off. The number when called would activate an
electronic voice that said, "Samual Shulton Sr., Hello Junior or Dirk
Frustein IV, Hello son, I will call you back on this number."

The FBI explained the tracking number, if accessed would trigger and
electronic trace back to the inquirer and would indicate it had been
delivered, with date and time. The sender and all other information simply
was not in FedX's system. As soon as the phone is stolen we are to report
it. Okay, I think I see what is going on here.

Several more packages and envelops came over the next few days. All had
the same kind of security and none had anything in them. We assumed the
FBI was trying to bate the watchers and that we later learned was more then
successful. We also learned that someone was trying to hack into the
university email system. Not that hard to do I am told and read our email.
Since none of it is private we did not care in the least.

The phone rang several times and when I answered it the voice just said a
little test keep on trucking. We of course were told exactly how to answer
it. Once it rang during my lecture. I stopped, answered saying, "in class
call me in one hour." Then I quickly explained to the class my father,
Professor Shulton Sr. was on sabbatical and smiled, they all seemed to
understand.

The interviews went quite well and we hired both of the boys to report here
July 1. We showed them and parents around the place, took them to the
Sanctuary and university. Explained our pay scale and what work was
required. I think it was our emphasis on academic performance and
necessity for physical fitness that convinced the parents. One look at our
buff bodies, the state of the art electronics and other amenities convinced
the boys. Just like at boarding school, we covered all the bases we could
think of. They boys would attend Shorewood High and receive help from us
as needed. They would be encouraged in what ever sports or other
activities they were interested in and be part of our Fencing and Tie Quan
Do classes, and the LP's.

It was obvious why we needed help to keep this place neat and clean, meals
on time, the lawn mowed and walks shoveled. Over lunch Dirk and I gave the
parents and the boys an explanation of how we came about and the family
history that is for public consumption. We know that Gerald had talked us
up with his sister. Mark's parents needed more convincing. For them it
was the baby pictures of our sons, being cared for by their maternal
grandparents that convinced them or perhaps the photograph of our brothers
and ourselves with my elderly grandmother. We assured them their boys
would become part of our family. We just did not tell them which family or
which part. Nor did we explain what the uniform allowance was all about.

The job would pay food, lodging, all school and recreational fees, a
uniform allowance, $50/week and a full academic scholarship to UWM for each
year worked. Having read this far in the story you know it paid a hell of
a lot more and it also required a hell of a lot more. I figured during the
school year we were talking a maximum of 15 hours / week per boy and a more
or less full time during the summer.

July was still some time away and my crotch was getting itchy just meeting
the boys. Mark was more jock and Truman more sissy boy. That did not mean
either one fit some stereotype. I think True, as he asked to be called,
was blown away when he saw the picture of Tony and Simon who are now part
of a very successful band. Mark was impressed with my photography. I
assured him any hobby he might have would be encouraged, especially
photography. I know both boys were a bit unsure about the LP's until they
saw the sanctuary building. It is impressive not just in size and grander
but it gives the impassion of stability. That is something that teens need
and respect. It is what they are looking for but are to shy to admit.
