Lashes of love

Chapter 1. Meeting Nafut.

There he was again. Damn, that boy looked so cute in his soccer shorts,
flushed by going after the ball on a hot day like this. I was looking down
at the playground through the window of my second floor apartment. I had
seen him a few times before, but was now actually paying attention to what
was going on. The neighbourhood kids were engaged in one of their street
soccer games again. I guess he was about 12 or 13 and one of the older
ones in the group.

It had only been a couple of years that I had come to terms with the fact
that I wasn't gay. No, I wasn't reformed or anything like that. In my
teens, I liked boys and assumed I was gay. When I was nearing 30 and still
only liked boys, I knew things didn't add up. So it wasn't so much the fact
that I wasn't gay I had to come to terms with, but the fact that I was a
boylover. In hindsight it explained a lot to me about why the few
relationships I had had, never really worked out.

I was restless, pacing the room that I had made into my office /
computer-room / library of my small three-room apartment. I always got that
way when I was expecting a delivery and today wasn't going to be any
different. I had recently expanded my one-man web-design and hosting
company to include building and selling tailor-made PCs. The wholesale firm
where I did most of my ordering had sent me a fax to expect a delivery
today and I was anxious to get going. I knew pacing and looking out of the
window every few minutes wouldn't speed up the delivery van, but I did get
to look at the boys and that made me feel a bit more relaxed.

I had enjoyed the boys and their street soccer games over the past few days
as summer holidays had started just less than a week ago. I had even
learned some of their names from listening to their enthusiastic game
play. When I had first seen the boy I now knew was Nafut I didn't know
whether I lived or had died and gone to heaven. He was by far the most
beautiful boy I had ever seen, jet black hair, dark sparkling eyes,
perfectly proportioned body and the cutest bubble butt. I knew he was
special as I watched him play with the other boys who were almost certainly
all younger than he was. I was lost in thought when the sound of the
doorbell ringing brought me back to reality and the delivery I was
expecting.

I opened the street level door and told the delivery man I would be right
down as I slipped into my shoes and closed the apartment door behind me. I
went down the staircase and was taken aback by the stack of boxes that
contained all the parts and other goodies that I needed to make the perfect
computer system for one of my customers. Everything I ordered had been in
stock and was now in six large boxes standing just outside of the
door. After I had signed for the delivery and had given the delivery man
his usual tip, I noticed that the boys had stopped playing and were
watching the stack of boxes.

I just smiled at the boys as I picked up the box that, by the looks of it,
contained the colour laser printer I had ordered and carried it inside the
small hallway that leads to the stairs. When I came out for the second box,
Nafut had come closer, his interest clearly piqued by what some of the
boxes obviously contained.

"Sir, is that a computer?" he asked in a crystal clear voice that almost
made me shudder. "Not yet," I answered, "but it will be." I noticed a very
puzzled look on his face when I brought up the box that I knew contained
the 19" LCD screen. "I still need to put it together" I clarified as I
carried the second box into the hallway.

"May I help you with the boxes?" he asked, as I came out again.

"If you want to, sure" I told him, involuntarily wondering about any
ulterior motives he might have for helping me, a stranger. Sure, we were
living on the same street, but I was a stranger nevertheless. He quickly
picked up one of the remaining four boxes though and started carrying it
inside. I went after him with another box and was surprised to see him
carrying the box he had up the staircase. "I can do that myself."

"No probs! What floor do you live on?" I told him, and up he went.

I had just walked back into the hallway with the last of the boxes when he
came back down, taking three to four steps at a time. I was about to thank
him for his help as he smiled, picked up the colour laser printer and
started back up again. I followed him up with the box I was carrying,
nearly fainting from the view of his backside in front of me, especially
his cute butt and near-hairless legs. I had never been so close to this
beautiful boy and I felt myself getting excited and nervous.

After getting the boxes up the narrow staircase to the second floor landing
we went back down again for two more and I again enjoyed the view. Putting
down my box he just brushed past me.

"I'll get the last one for you too, sir."

I didn't even get a chance to say anything as he was halfway down already
when I caught my breath. I've got to stop smoking, I mumbled to myself as I
opened up the door to my apartment and started shoving the boxes into the
entrance hall.

I had just finished stacking everything in the entrance hall as he came up
with the final box, only slightly panting. My mind was racing: don't lose
him now, don't let him storm back down those stairs.

"Would you like a soda or something," I asked him, as he put the box down
near the others in the hall.

"Oh no, sir," he said, "just a glass of water would be fine."

"Are you sure you don't want a soda?" I asked surprised, but he only
nodded.

"Okay, but please close the apartment door before any of my kids try to
escape."

I heard the door close as I went into the kitchen to pour him a glass of
water.

For the second time that day I saw that puzzled look on his face as I came
back with his glass of water and invited him further, into the living
room. "Do you have kids?" he asked as I handed him his glass of water and
gestured him to sit down on the couch.

I smiled at his confusion, just as Pedro, my oversized tomcat, entered the
living room to get a look at my guest. "Ah, meet Pedro, he's one of my two
children and they allow me to live here too." I saw Nafut's face change
from puzzlement to amusement as what I had said sank in.

I walked to the other couch and sat down. Pedro didn't waste any time and
jumped up the couch next to Nafut, all but demanding some immediate
attention.

"May I pet him?" Nafut asked, not sure what to do.

"Certainly, he loves being petted."

"You said you have two, where's the other one?" Nafut asked.

"Oh, I think Dada is hiding somewhere, she's pretty shy".

"Are you really going to build a computer?" Nafut asked, suddenly changing
the subject.

"Yes," I told him, "it's for one of my customers." I saw him
lingering. "You can watch as I built the computer."

His face lit up. "Really?" he asked, "you wouldn't mind if I watched?"

"Of course not, I tried to explain things about building a computer to
Pedro and Dada, but they don't seem to be much interested in it."

He chuckled and then we heard his little friends outside calling his name.

He went to the windows and waved, mouthing to them that he would be coming
down soon.

"When will you start building the computer sir?" he asked.

"Well, I think I could start tomorrow afternoon, say around one o'clock."

"Oh, that would be super," he exclaimed, "but I really have to go down now
as they're waiting for me."

"Yes," I told him, "it's not good to keep your friends waiting."

"Thanks for the water, sir and I'll be here tomorrow at one," he said as he
went through the door and down the stairs.

"Thank you for helping me," I said, but I'm not sure if he heard it.

I closed the apartment door as I heard the door downstairs slam shut. I
walked back to the living room as comprehension of what just happened
slowly sank in. Pedro sat on the couch on the place Nafut had just
vacated, meowing loudly. "You like him too, don't you?" I petted him
absently. I walked to the window and looked down at the playground. Just
than Nafut looked up, gave me a big smile and waved. I waved back and than
quickly stepped away from the window; something wasn't right and I had to
sit down on the couch. Pedro came and sat next to me, Dada, coming out of
hiding sat on my other side. Understanding dawned as I petted both of
them.

"Well kids," I said to my companions, "I think Daddy is falling in love."
