                                    THE TRIP TO THE FARM

It was several weeks later, and the group," HANDS ACROSS THE BOARDER", were
getting ready to go down to the farm and start to help getting the place
into shape. I had Gone down in the past two weeks to let the family know
that all of this was going to happen, and they were just all so happy you
could just see it in their eyes that they were So appreciative of
everything that was going to take place.  When I was down there the last
time, I noticed that the younger boy's were all over me, They wanted me to

liked that, as to know that they are very friendly, and loving.

It was a Friday, and I had asked our boss if the group could take off
early, and he said he had no problem with it and that he was really proud
of what we were doing to help other People out.  I had asked it I could use
one of the companies larger trucks, and it was approved, as we Had
appliances, TV, beds and other items to take with us. We were also given an
older generator, and one of the team was real skilled in getting the thing
going, so as you have heard the elec power in Mexico can come and go as the
rain does.  Steve had gotten our bags in the truck, and I noticed that the
truck was about full of donated items. One thing that was really needed was
baby things, and girls things, so we left that stuff to carol and Kathy.  I
had gone shopping for some of the boy's and had gotten them new jeans,
shorts, and my favorite boxer shorts, in all sizes, I wanted them to look
cute while running around the place.  We also had collected from some of
the people at the co. good used clothing, bedding and other household items
that could be used.  I am sure in that area that there are other families,
could use some of the things that will be not used, and I am sure that
Roberto and Maria would be able to tell us.

I was about 3PM, and all of the people were ready to go, I guess there were
about five cars/SUV/pickups, one very large motor home, and the co
truck. Well all had walkie talkies so we could communicate with each
other. I seemed that the drive down was quite fast, we only had to stop at
the boarder, and on into the area, I guess that the farm is no more than 35
or 40 miles from Nogales, and the main road is good, it is when you have to
go to road 293, that things with a big truck could slow down the whole
drive, we would just have to wait and see.

I guess it was about 6:30 PM when we turned into the drive way, and it was
very hot, and it looked like rain as well, well I guess we will see just
how water proof things on the farm. As we drove in I could see the family
come running out of the house, as they were looking to see who was coming
up there drive way.  I was just not sure as to where we were all going to
park, as we wanted to get the motor home in so we could use it as our
office, head quarters, and sleeping area, I knew that several tents were
brought along as well. I know that most of the eating would be Bar-b-que,
and so we were there now to get things going.  In counting, I come up with
12 people from the group, including there partners.  I was just not sure
where we were going to start, but we had plenty of wood, nails, and tools
to start. I wanted to get the generator hooked up as soon as possible so
that we could Get the wiring done so that the reefer's could be set in and
started up.




It was about and hour into as being there, and the weather was looking like
