Chapter 28 - My Son and His Friends

We finally arrived at mom's house after leaving our house earlier that
morning. We had stopped for a good "home-cooked" meal at one of the little
restaurants in one of the towns along the way and that made the trip a
little longer than usual.

I pulled into the Mom and Dad's driveway and saw Dad loading the trunk of
their car with several pieces of luggage and some boxes. We got out and
walked over to him. He gave each of us a hug and said "I am so happy to
see you in more ways than you can imagine, hopefully, now your mom will
relax and stop finding things for me to do."

I smiled and said "Well, let me go in and announce our arrival." About
that time, mom stuck her head out the door and was about to tell Dad
something when she spotted us. She came outside hugged the boys and then
gave me the once over before she hugged my neck. She then started issuing
orders as to what needed to be done, what we needed to do, and when we
needed to do it. I chuckled and looked over at Dad, he nodded but it was
seen by Mom. She started "You two think I am blind, I saw that, I know you
two are in cahoots, but you need to know we are pulling out of here early
tomorrow morning and these vehicles will be packed tonight and ready to go
tomorrow morning. Doug, you need to get the boy's and your overnight stuff
out and into your rooms, we need to go eat, we need to pack some of the
food that I have already prepared, and then, we need to go to bed. I am
starting breakfast at 5:00 in the morning. I want to leave no later than
7:00. That gives us time to straighten up, get showered and dressed, and
then hit the road."

I turned to the boys and asked them if they would carry our overnight bags
in and put them in our room. I helped Dad rearrange the stuff in the trunk
to make more room, and then we began to pack the backseat. He said "I
thought your mom was going to be a minimalist on this trip" and I about
lost it. I said "Dad, has mom ever been a minimalist?" He stopped what he
was doing and said "Well, there is only one of you - right?" I shook my
head and said "Dad, I think I don't want to go there." He laughed this
time.

We finished loading their car, and then, we went into the house to see what
else Mom had going on. She had several cakes on the counter and she told
me that she had several dishes already made and that they were in the
freezer. She reminded me that we would need to get ice coming back home
tonight after eating at The Oaks Restaurant and then load the frozen items
in the cooler in the morning. I was beginning to wonder where all of this
was going, but I decided to just wait and see.

We freshened up and changed into some clean clothes, and then we were off
to eat at The Oaks Restaurant. We walked in and Mr. Vince Cook, the owner,
greeted each of us by name and had one of the waitresses seat us in a large
booth. Ryan and Myles glanced at the menu and then put it down. I looked
and said "Let me guess, a hamburger?" They shot me a look and said "You
are so wrong; we have been brought up to know that when we go to a
restaurant, we don't order a hamburger." I smiled and Mom said "I am so
glad to see that you have been taught about the finer points of dining
out." I made a tally mark in the air for me and Mom said "Don't you go
getting the big head, that is the way you were raised and she made a tally
mark in the air for herself." The boys cracked up, and then, Dad and I
joined in. Our waitress came over and took our drink orders and asked if
we needed more time before deciding on our entrees. I looked around the
table and told her that I thought everyone had made their decisions. She
took our orders, and we headed to the salad bar. For some reason, Mr. Cook
always has the best tomatoes on his salad bar, they actually taste like a
tomato should, slightly acidic and they smell tomatoie not like some
tomatoes that have no taste and are watery in nature. We made our salads
and topped them with our favorite salad dressing and cheese.

We returned to our table and began to eat and talk about the upcoming trip.
The boys let it be known that they were hoping for some snow, and if there
was no snow, that they definitely wanted to hike in the mountains. Mom
turned to me and said "Doug, if there is hiking, you are on your own with
them as your Dad and I cannot do that anymore. I will just spend my time
shopping in the nearby towns. I smiled and said "We will see what the
weather brings up, but I can assure you that we are not going to stay
house-bound or tied to a TV."

We finished our salads about the time that our entrees were delivered to
the table. Mom, Dad, and I had ordered a rib-eye steak while the boys
ordered nine fried shrimp each. Everybody ordered a baked potato, but Mom
and I ordered a baked sweet potato while the others ordered a regular
potato with butter and sour cream. We focused on our meals and chatted
about a variety of topics with Mom really talking about stuff in the
community and the Church. She told me that she thought that I would be
really proud of Reverend Fred Lee as he had really changed his manner in
the pulpit. I said "Well, I would have to have proof of that," and she
said "Oh but you will. You are going to Church when we get back and before
you leave to go home. There are several things that you have to do this
trip, so you might as well get geared to do some of my wants." I thought
to myself 'What has changed?" She said "I heard that!" I said "Heard
what?" She then said "Doug, I had you and have known you since the day you
breathed your first breath of air, I know your moves, I know your thinking,
I know your laughter, and I know you inside and out, so you need to
understand I know your mutterings and more than likely your thoughts." I
smiled and the boys wagged their fingers at me.

We finished our meal and I allowed Dad to pay for the check as he was first
out of the booth and at the cash register before I could move the boys out
of the way. We began to drive back home, and I stopped along the way and
filled the cooler with some ice. I backed into the driveway so that my
rear door was up against the garage door on Dad's side of the garage. We
got out, went in, and headed to our bedrooms. We settled into our rooms
and I tried to make myself fall asleep, but I was keyed up regarding the
upcoming trip. I pulled out a book and began to read, finally, I began to
feel myself tire out. I listened for any noises from the boy's room and
they were quiet. I then allowed myself to drift off to sleep.

At 5 o'clock Dad was knocking on my door telling me that Mom needed me in
the kitchen. I grabbed me a pair of knock-around shorts and shirt and put
them on. I walked into the kitchen and Mom put me to work helping to
prepare breakfast, then she was taking stuff out of the freezer and
directing me to store it in the cooler. I had to get my keys and pull the
Denali forward so that I could open the rear door. I drained the water out
of the cooler and began to put the frozen food in the cooler. I packed
some wadded up newspaper around each dish to fill the gaps and hopefully to
hold the cold around the dishes.

I returned to the kitchen and Mom sent me to wake the boys up. I knocked
lightly on their door and there was no response. I slowly opened the door
and they were still asleep. I walked over to the bed, called their names,
and nudged them. They slowly woke up, sat up, and gave me this bewildered
look then, they remembered where they were, and why I was waking them up so
early. I turned and headed out the door when they jumped out of bed. They
were soon dressed for breakfast and sitting around the breakfast table
while Dad and I stood and ate at the island.

We finished breakfast, and Mom cleaned the kitchen while the rest of us
took our showers, dressed, grabbed our toiletries, and made our beds. We
left our dirty clothes, as we would wash them and some more when we
returned. We assembled in the kitchen and waited a few minutes for Mom to
get ready. She soon appeared, and we walked out of the house as Dad set
the alarm, and did a final walk around to make sure things were secure. I
pulled forward and Dad backed mom's car out of the garage, lowered the
garage door, and then followed me down the street. We were on our way to
Gatlinburg for our first ever Christmas vacation away from one of our
homes.

As I was driving on the outskirts of town, I saw a police car pull in
behind me and my stomach tightened. I started praying that it was not
Bobby Joe and my prayers were answered as the officer sped by me in a few
minutes, I could see that it was not him, but another officer. Mom called
me on the cell phone and told me to turn the radio on to one of the local
stations so that I could hear Reverend Lee give his early morning sermon.
I begrudgingly turned it on and was amazed at the tone of delivery and the
ensuing message. I had to give it to the old boy, he had made a change.
Miracles do happen.

We drove on, and I made the decision to take a side tour to Helen, Georgia.
It is a small town nestled in the mountain area of North Georgia which has
been remodeled to resemble a Bavarian Village. We took a quick tour of the
small town and I made a few purchases at several of the locally owned
shops. We took time and had a great lunch there, and then; we loaded up
and resumed our journey.

The next stop was Cherokee, North Carolina after driving through some
scenic views of the mountains. The boys were taking pictures as we
traveled and I agreed to stop several times to let them take pictures of
the views, themselves, me and them, along with Mom and Dad. We drove into
Cherokee, and I knew that we had to stop and wander around, after all my
rear end could only take so much sitting. We parked and began to explore
the small town. The handiwork of leather and clay was outstanding. I
bought several belts and blankets. Mom found some jewelry that she just
had to have, so she bought it. As we were walking around, I noticed a sign
advertising the Casino and was reading it when Mom started lecturing me on
gambling. I continued to read and decided to not argue with her.

We finished our tour and returned to the vehicles for the final leg of our
journey. It was getting to be late afternoon and the drive through the
mountains was spectacular. We were able to see several types of wildlife
along the way which included deer, turkeys, elk, and a few bears. The only
issue with this is that whenever you see the various types of wildlife, you
are not the only ones, so there is a traffic snarl with people leaning out
taking pictures or pulling over on the sides of the road.

I made my way through the traffic snarls and continued on my way. I noted
several things along the way that I wanted to return to later in the week,
but I knew that I had to head on now as Dad was following me and I knew
that he was not comfortable driving at night and especially in the
mountains.

We drove through the National Park and then we were on the outskirts of
Gatlinburg. I turned onto the by-pass and we were headed to Pigeon Forge.
As we were driving into Pigeon Forge, I set the Garmin with the address of
the house that Mom had rented for the week. It guided me through the maze
of traffic and we were soon pulling into the driveway of the house. The
house sat on a portion of one of the surrounding mountains and overlooked
the farmlands below. It was quiet, so erringly quiet, but a welcome relief
to the traffic in Pigeon Forge. We got out of the car and walked around.
Mom made a phone call and in a few minutes, a man pulled in and stopped.
He got out and introduced himself as the owner of the house. He welcomed
us to the area and gave us the keys. He walked us through the house and
explained how to deal with the heater and the fireplace. He said that if
we had any questions to just call him as he lived close by, and he could
either answer them on the phone or come over. We thanked him and then he
left.

We began to unpack the car with mom insisting that the cooler be the first
thing out and in the house. Mom assigned the bedrooms in the house with
her and Dad getting the master bedroom at the other end of the house while
the boys and I took the two bedrooms on the other end. Mom and Dad's room
had a picturesque view of the mountains while the boys and mine had a view
of the valley and its farmlands.

We stored our belongings, and then, Mom was ready to head out and eat.
Everybody got in the Denali and I drove back to Pigeon Forge. I decided,
since I was the driver and being that the driver has certain privileges
that we would eat at The Old Mill. It proved to be a great choice and we
were soon headed out after having a good Tennessee meal. Mom wanted to
tour the area, so I joined what seemed like thousands of cars and drove up
and down the main drag of Pigeon Forge. There were a number of Christmas
Shoppes, candy stores, jewelry stores, boot stores, a winery, and a number
of amusements. We stopped at one of the larger Christmas Shoppes and
walked through it. I can say this "If you wanted it, it was probably
there, and if it wasn't, then you probably didn't need it." I saw a
terrific collection of trains and that kept me, Dad and the boys occupied
for a while.

Dad said "Doug, do you still love trains as much as you used to?" I looked
at him and he said "Silly question, of course you do." I have loved trains
all my live, I assign them personalities and imagine where they have been
and what they have seen. I have had an electric train since I was three
years old, but I keep it put up as it is extremely valuable. I stood and
watched several of the displays and decided that Phil and I would set-up a
train set in my office area in the coming months after I purchased a new
set and some extra cars.

Mom finished her browsing and found us at the trains. She shook her head
and said "Some things never change." I smiled and said "You are so right
and I have decided that I am going to put a train table in my office area."
She just shook her head and asked "What type do you want now?" I said "I
am torn between the HO gauge and the N gauge." She asked "What's the
difference?" I pointed out the differences by showing her the two
different types. She said that she really liked them both, but thought
that there was more variety with the HO. I asked if she was ready to go
and she said that she was.

We returned to the Denali and headed back to the house after locating a
local Christmas tree lot. I made note of its location and agreed that we
would return tomorrow morning to select our tree. I continued on to the
house and soon we were inside and getting ready for our first night on the
mountain.

The boys took their showers first and complained about the lack of water
pressure. I reminded them that just like when we were at Matt's farm, that
we were not on a city water system but a pump therefore, we had only one
pump pushing the water into the house. They understood, and then, they
were talking about a return visit to the farm during the summer. I left
them talking in my room as I went for my shower. I understood their
comments as I took my shower, but decided that I could put up with anything
for a week.

I returned to my room to find both of them in my bed watching TV. I
cleared my throat and they moved over and patted a spot on my bed. I said
"Guys, I need to put my clothes on." Ryan said "Dad, we've seen your goods
before, so go ahead and change, and then get in here with us to watch this
show."

I thought "Oh what the heck", I dropped my towel, pulled my boxer briefs
on, and crawled into bed with them. We lay there and watched a show, then
I herded them to their room, turned off the TV, and snuggled down into one
of the most comfortable beds that I had ever slept in. I awoke early the
next morning and lay there enjoying the view out my window after going for
my morning trip to the bathroom. I soon heard Mom in the kitchen, and a
few minutes later, I could smell that she had breakfast well under way. I
got up, grabbed me some clean clothes, went to the bathroom, took my
morning shower and dressed. I walked down to the kitchen and Mom had
everything almost ready, so I walked back to the boys' room and called them
to breakfast.

They slowly woke up and were soon ready for breakfast. They loved the view
and were eager to get outside and explore. I told them to finish their
breakfast, to help with kitchen clean-up, get their morning showers, and
then, we would go back to town and pick out our tree. I spent my time
reviewing the foods that Mom had brought and made a list of what I needed
to purchase when I went to the grocery store.

I finished my tasks about the time that the boys and mom finished their
showers. We loaded up, and I drove to the tree lot. After a thorough
review of the available trees, Mom made her decision, and we loaded it atop
the Denali and drove back to the house. I unloaded it and Dad said that he
would put it in a stand, place it in the house and that he would let Mom do
some shaping while I went to the grocery store.

I had mentioned that I needed to go to a grocery store while I was at the
Christmas tree lot, and I was told that I would need to go to Sevierville
for a full-fledged shopping experience. I told the boys to load up, and we
were off to Sevierville. I found the grocery store, and we went in,
grabbed a buggy and began to shop. About midway through the shopping, I
regretted bringing the boys as they kept adding all kinds of stuff in the
buggy. We finally finished our shopping, checked out, loaded up, and
returned to the house.

We unloaded the groceries, stored them in the pantry and/or freezer. We
then gathered in the living room and decorated the tree. Dad and I put the
lights on, after the boys checked to make sure that they were in working
order. Mom and the boys added the ornaments, garland, and the topper. It
took some time as Mom is very picky about how her tree looks. I thought
back to when we were decorating our tree with Phil. I missed having him
near me, I missed talking to him, I missed holding him, I missed kissing
him, and I just missed Phil really, really bad. I loved being with my
family, but I really missed Phil.

We finished decorating the tree, made some quick sandwiches using some of
the deli meats that I had purchased at the store, and then, we decided to
go to Pigeon Forge and ramble through the shops and stores. I cleaned the
kitchen while everybody was getting ready to go. In a few minutes,
everybody had hit the bathroom, changed shoes, and were ready to go to
Pigeon Forge.

I drove, and we parked in a large parking area. We decided to split up and
established a time to meet back at the Denali. Mom and Dad wandered the
stores around the Old Mill first and then, they boarded the trolley and
went across the main drag to some of the stores over there. The boys and I
grabbed the trolley and rode it around Pigeon Forge out to what turned out
to be a transfer station which allowed us to take a trolley to Gatlinburg.

We rode the trolley and rambled around Gatlinburg. We found a number of
things that we wanted to do the next day, places we wanted to eat, and
shops that we wanted to visit. The sounds and smells of some of the shops
were appealing, and I could not pass up one of the outdoor food
establishments. We reviewed the menu and then, placed our orders. We sat
and discussed the trip, and things that we wanted to do before going home.
Ryan began to talk about visiting this area during the summer as he had
glanced several brochures for zip lining, rafting, and tubing. I had to
agree with him and tucked that thought into the back of my mind. We
stopped by one of the candy kitchens and watched them make taffy. We
looked at the taffy bins and gathered some of several kinds in a bag before
heading back to find the trolley and returning to Pigeon Forge.

We made the trolley transfer and then, headed back to find Mom and Dad.
They were waiting for us near the Denali. We loaded Mom's purchases, and
then we were off to Cheddar's Restaurant for supper. We ordered our food,
and it was really good. We paid and returned to the Denali for a trip back
to the house.

Mom plugged in the lights and we all walked outside to see the tree through
the window. It looked pretty, but I was ready for some down time. I
excused myself from the group and went to my room. I looked at the time
and thought 'what the heck?' I called Phil and he answered. We talked for
over an hour, and I told him how much I had missed him, he told me that he
missed me too, and that he could not wait until we could be together for
some fun. I smiled, but my cock began to harden with thoughts of some
special time with Phil.

I hung up, checked on the boys, returned to my room, turned out the lights,
stripped out of my clothes, and crawled into the bed naked. I positioned
my pillows, and then, I began to think about Phil. My cock began to harden
and soon my hand found it and began to jack it off. I rubbed my balls and
stroked my taint. I began to feel some pre-cum leak from my cock, and I
used it as lube. Soon I was rock hard and really jacking my cock. I began
to feel my balls tighten as the cum began to rise up my cock. I threw the
sheets off of me and allowed my cock to spray its load on my chest. After
my climax, I got up and wiped my chest using one of my t- shirts. I
returned to my bed a little more relaxed then, I heard the boys talking in
the adjoining room. It sounded like they were playing around. I smiled
and snuggled into my pillows. I was fine with the boys being boys. I soon
dropped off to sleep and for the first time in several nights, I got a good
night's sleep.

I woke up the next morning and helped Mom with breakfast while the boys
showered and dressed for the day. I helped Mom prepare a few dishes for
the upcoming Christmas Dinner and put them in the refrigerator for use on
Christmas morning. Mom made a large pot of vegetable soup, and we had that
and some grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. After lunch, I asked Mom and
Dad if they wanted to go to Gatlinburg, but they declined, so I loaded the
boys up and we went to Gatlinburg.

End of Chapter 28 - My Son and His Friends

Thank you for reading this continuing story. I apologize for the delay of
this chapter, but much has happened in my personal life which ate up my
writing time. I have had many moments to imagine story lines for the story
so I am telling you that the story has a lot of possibilities for the
future. I will continue to write, but it will be a while before I can get
to a regular schedule. Until then, please stick with me. Your e-mails and
inquiries have meant a lot and have encouraged me to get back to writing.

I hope that your lives are richly blessed and I will begin work on Chapter
29 next week.
