More than once Barry and Steve had to nudge Tom or
Eric in the shoulder, to keep them from falling asleep
in church. Each time, the two dads looked at each
other, smiling. Their thoughts had been on not their
dosing sons, but what the boys got out of doing the
demeaning duty Mike gave them, back at the station,
toiling for most of the night in the police precinct
jon, brushing the floor and wall tiles, urinals,
toilets and sinks with toothbrushes. When Pastor
MacKenzie excused the children to go downstairs to
Sunday School, Aidan, Philip and Diego hustled out of
the seats, to the tune of `cool'!

"C'mon guys!" Philip stated excitedly.

Each in a class of their own, Philip knew his teacher
would have snacks ready. On the other hand, where
Diego's teacher didn't provide any food, he couldn't
wait to get into the arts and crafts project they
began last week, a Father's Day present. For him,
another boy and a girl in the class, they would have
it special, having both parents of the same sex. It
also brought about the topic of why Diego's and the
other two's picture had two men in it, whereas the
other had hetero couples. Diego's teacher closed off
the subject until she had time to confer with the
pastor over the issue. At a meeting of the Sunday
School teachers, Pastor MacKenzie brought up the
subject of same-sex households, which proved to be an
education for some.

As Aidan's class settled down, his teacher, Mr.
Rapaport began discussing the issue, "Now I know it's
not this class, but another class brought up the idea
of some boys and girls in this Sunday School of having
two dads or two moms."

"Like, me?" Aidan wasn't ashamed to say.

"Yes, exactly," Mr. Rapaport replied. "First, I
wondered what you young ladies and gentlemen thought
of that?"

Even thought Mr. Rapaport was much older than Aidan's
twelve years, he held a keen interest in staring. One
might say he had had a crush on Mr. Rapaport since the
beginning of the Sunday School year.

"Yeah, what's it like to have two queer dads?" Tim
Toles asks.

"They're gay like me," Aidan replied.

He wasn't sure, but it sounded kind of demeaning for
Tim to say it in that way.

"I haven't really thought about it. They're my dads,
parents like any other family, only one of my dads
doesn't wear a bra!"

Even Mr. Rapaport got a chuckle out of that one,
thinking, `I'll add that one to the `darnedest things
kids say'!'

Tim adds, "In my house my mom does the laundry and
other stuff."

"At my house, the cook does that grocery shopping and
we have a lady that comes in to do the laundry and
make the beds," Melonie Weiss offered.

The other boy with two dads at home answered, "My dads
take turns doing the chores. We have a cook, but my
dads do the grocery shopping on account of Mrs. Hurley
spending four hundred bucks on a shopping trip!"

Mr. Rapaport answered, "Oh my! It's just you at home,
isn't it Alex?"

"Yup, but my dads say they want to get another one so
that I can have a playmate."

One of the other girls, Brenda McNicholls ads, "The
same with my moms. But one of them wants to have the
baby through them."

Getting the gist of what Brenda said, meaning
pregnancy, Alex replies, "Well, that can't happen to
men!"

Another one for Rapaport's `darnedest' journal.

"Well, I think we better get on with the lesson
today."

Aidan cuts in with, "Isn't this part of it?"

The thirty-two year old Sunday School teacher looked
upon Aidan's insight as overwhelming and corrective,
but took it in stride.

"Well, yes, I suppose you're right, Aidan."

Something happened to twelve year old Aidan that
didn't happen much, but lately has been occuring more
frequently. With what Aidan perceived as a handsome
looking man and the manner in which the compliment was
converyed, made his short cock take a leap. His hand
that didn't hold the pencil, slipped down his thigh.

"What?" Mr. Rapaport asked, seeing some sort of
reaction on Aidan's face.

"Um, nothing." Aidan replied, according to what his
dick felt, adding, "Um, I mean isn't this," getting
back on target, "about life?"

He had to go and smile at Aidan, another reason to
feel that tingling sensation under his zippered area.
Fortunately, Mr. Rapaport had his attention steered
away by another student. Aidan sure hoped he'd get
relaxed enough by the time Sunday School class had
ended.

While the kids met downstairs and the adults upstairs,
in the church, for Pastor MacKenzies message, the
church lounge hosted the key players in the upcoming
youth group, intergenerational outing. Heading up the
group, Terrence Beethoven chaired the proceedings.
However, the subject matter didn't exactly stay on
course. The meeting of the minds began with role call.

"Anybody hear from Zach?" Terrence questioned the
small group.

"Nope," Chad led the replies, nobody having a clue.

Making a note of it, Terrence says, "Okay, well I'll
have to give him a call."

"Where's Rick?" Matty asks.

"On duty," came the blunt answer, as Terrence carried
on.

"What about Juan and Miguel?"

"Hangover," Chad reported.

"Out late again, at D'jola's?" Terrence inquires.

Matty supplies the credible answer, "Well yeah. Since
the arson they've been making themselves scarce."

Knowing the details, Terrence aids him, "Yeah, well it
was nice of you and Chad to extend a brotherly hand. I
suppose they want to stay out of your way and give you
your privacy."

"I suppose," Chad agrees, along with Matty nodding.

"Good to see you here, Max. How are things going with
you?"

"Okay, I suppose," Max replies, looking to Matty.

Terrence glances between the two, asking, "Did I miss
something here?"

"Yeah," Chad supplies the answer, then adds, "we're
enacting the `don't ask - don't tell' rule!"

"Oh, well okay," Terrence smiles and gets on with
business, "Andy Chekov came last week for the first
time. Did we lose him?"

There's comic relief, as Chad giggles, replying, "On
the contrary, I think our heterosexual friend is
joining our ranks!"

"Andy? Gay? Why didn't you tell me, Preppy?"

"Geez, forgot Matty, with all the... the... you know,"
Chad meant their little discussion about the cemetary
incident with Max, "it kind of slipped my mind," he
shrugged.

"No problem," Matty replies, not wanting the `other'
subject brought up.

"So, do you think Andy will be back?"

Then the door opens.

Terrence responds, "Well, speaking of the devil!"

"And his accomplice?" Chad incites.

Entering with Andy, is Christian.

"Hey, sorry we're late. Um, this is Christian
Zoutendijk, everybody," Andy introduces them.

"Come again?" Terrence asks.

But Andy doesn't get the question, replying, "Huh?"

"The name?"

"Believe me," Chad speaks out, rising up and taking
Christian's hand to shake, "Just call him Christian!"

Christian shortens it to, "Chris is okay."

"Chris it is. I'm Terrence or Terry."

"Nice to meet you Terry," Christian responds, picking
his own version.

"Coffee?" Terrence inquire of the two.

"None for me," Andy responds.

"I'll have a short one," Chris states.

Andy, being the perfect gentlemen, tells Chris he'll
accompany Terrence to the mini-kitchen, for him to
take a seat. As Chris sits, Max introduces himself.

"I'm Max Masterson," he extends his hand.

As happens when walking on carpeting, they get
`shocked'.

"Cool!" Max responds.

They then engage in the handshake after backing
quickly off. Their grip lingers.

Realizing the long hold over each other, Christian
lets go, "Um, yeah. Nice to meet you, Max."

"Same here."

Observing, Chad and Matty make mental notes, a few
short vocal ones.

"Uh-huh..." Matty says.

Chad adds, "Andy better watch out!"

To all of their amazements, Andy overhears, stating on
his behalf, "No problem guys. Christian and I are
friends." Sitting, pulling the chair up, under his
ass, he further details, "I know you're probably
wondering, but `no'. I'll not gay."

Laughing his ass off, Chad replies, "Yeah, I was kind
of wondering about that, Andy!"

It sure put a smile on Max's face. Christian smiled
back.

"Um, can we get back to the order of business?"
Terrence tried gaining control of the meeting.

But Matty couldn't resist the quesitionable topic. He
had to ask, even though he wasn't really thinking it.

"How does it feel to be in cuffs, Terrence?"

Instead of lightheartedly answering, as if a joke, as
Matty meant it to be, Terrence blew up.

"Y'know," he got up out of his chair, "this is
supposed to be a fucking Sunday School meeting. If you
want to know something private, fuckin' ask me in
private!"

As Terrence stormed out of the room, Matty got up and
tried stopping him, verbally.

"Hey look, I didn't mean anything by it.. I... Terry?
I..."

It was too late. What had been said, was history and
the hurt accomplished, not that it had been
intentional on Matty part.

"Good going, Matty," his partner awarded him.

"Man, I guess I've really fucked up this time, even
though I did mean it as a joke."

"Not according to him, obviously."

"What's this about guys?" Max inquires.

"Never mind," Matty tells him. "Looks like I've gone
and got myself in deep shit with Terry."

Chad nudges him, saying, "Well, how long you going to
wait before you drown in the toilet?"

Getting Chad's meaning, Matty does a pushup from the
table.

"Yeah, you're right. I better go ask `God' for
redemption."

Chad pats Matty on the back, saying, "We'll say a
prayer for you!"

Leaving the room, Matty walks down the hallway. He
spots Terrence's car still sitting in the parking lot.
Back tracking, he heads to the `other' church lounge.
He's not there. Snapping his fingers, Matty heads
towards the only other place he knows Terrence would
go for solace. Well, other than Pastor MacKenzie's
private quarters. Exiting through the backdoor, sure
enough, he views Terrence, sitting on a bench in the
prayer garden.

"Hey," he introduces himself.

Feeling mighty low, the twenty year old approaches the
center of the garden, where four marble benches form a
quartet. Shoulders slumped, his hands stuffed into his
pocket, like he's trying to handle something, but not,
Matty sits across from Terrence.

"Hmm," Terrence responds, very low keyed.

"Back there," Matty gestures over his shoulder, "I'm
real sorry for acting like a jerk."

"Hm."

"You forgive me, bro?"

Terrence, leaning his elbows on his knees, couldn't
stay angry at those puppy dog eyes.

Lifting his head, not changing from his dismal manner,
he gave the sincere response, "I might if you give me
a blow job?"

A slight smile creased the sides of his lips. Knowing
Terrence joked, in his way of saying all was forgiven,
Matty fell forwards on his knees.

"No problem, bro. Drop the zipper," as Matty's palms
fell onto Terrence's knees.

Lightening up, Terrence replies, taking a fistful of
Matty's mane, "Get up my son, your sins are forgiven!"

"Owwwwwwch! It don't sound sincere to me!"

Rising up at the same time, Terrence released Matty,
forming his arms in between Matty's, hugging him.

"I'm real sorry, Terry. Really I am," Matty went on.

"It's over and done with, okay?"

"Yeah, but I still feel like a doofus."

"Yeah I know," Terrence admitted.

Matty then turned his question to a different matter.

"So, you and Rick getting serious?"

The two walked slowly, Terrence's arm over Matty's
shoulder, as if the preacher escorting a counseled
church member.

"I'd like it to proceed that way."

"Oh? And Rick's feelings?"

"I think he's interested in me."

"Chad's dads think it's serious."

"Oh, so there's rumors started already, huh?"

"They didn't mean anything by it, I swear Terry."

Matty mistook Terrence's reply as serious.

"Hey, I'm not pissed about it. Lighten up, okay?"

"Yeah. Sure," Matty loosened up.

Before Terrence opened the door, to admit them both
back into the youth group meeting, he place his palm
against it, as Matty reached for the knob.

"Everything's cool between us, right?"

"Um, yeah. I suppose so," Matty reacted.

"Well, I've been meaning to say this for a long time,
but never got the opportunity, but I really love you
and Chad. I hope you know that, Matty."

"Oh yeah. We do too.. love you too, Terry."

"I just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry I lost
my cool and it would have to be an offense a lot worse
than what happened in there to... to..."

"Make you haul off and slug me?" Matty interjected, in
jest.

"Something like that."

Terrence released his hand from the door. Matty turned
the knob.

"Oh wait," Terrence interrupted, slamming the door
shut, the tenth of an inch it opened.

"What?"

"It didn't feel good to have the cuffs on, but... you
can tell Chad this later. It did feel good with my
hands bound behind me, in the back of the patrol car,
with Rick kissing me."

"You didn't have to tell me that, Terry."

"I know, but I know Chad is going to be bugging you
for details."

"You're right, Terry."

"Well, there's something juicy to lay on him."

"Oh, believe you me. When I want to lay something
juicy on Chad, it'll be something gooeyer than your
kiss with Rick!"

Entering the door, the two disturbed the goings on
with their howling laughter. It overshadowed the
rumblings below, as Sunday School let out.

"Mr. Rapaport, I want to thank you for understanding
me."

The thirty-two teacher looked perplexed.

"You know. What I said about my dads and all?"

He sort of got what Aidan meant, but decided to
acknowledge it anyway, as he took the Bibles from the
twelve year olds hands and placed them on the cabinet
shelf.

"Oh yes. Of course. I think you said some meaningful
things."

Actually, as David Rapaport listened to the
conversation, questions began to confront himself, as
to his own sexuality. Possibly this little runaway
conversation had brought to light thoughts of some
missing elements in his life.
