There wasn't time to start a spelling bee, with lunch
time approaching, so figured they would take up with
it after the fifth graders had their fill from the
brown bags and cafeteria fare. Still, after lunch,
Alonzo thought it better to postpone the spelling bee
to the next day, considering the time element.
Splitting up this type of activity, stretched over two
days would take the zip out of it, for the kids. The
kids seemed disappointed, so both classes headed back
to the auditorium for another viewing of a children's
classic DVD.
"I figured this would be easier for you, Barry."
"Tell me about it, Alonzo."
"Aren't nervous, are you, Barry. I mean about teaching
younger kids?"
"Tell you the truth Alonzo, I did have my heart set on
teaching older kids, but right now I need a paycheck!"
They both laughed. As the DVD played on, Alonzo
happened to look up. There, Marsha Burke stood.
"Oh, I didn't see you standing there, Marsha!"
"Likewise, Alonzo. Um, there's been some further
developments over the fifth grade teaching position."
"Oh?"
Barry and Alonzo, stand and face the principal, as if
addressing their superior officer for discipline.
"You know Alonzo, some of these teachers in the system
like to push their seniority around."
"Oh, don't we know them well, Marsha!"
To Barry, it seemed Alonzo Romano and Marsha Burke had
a more loose association, than he sensed in the
presence of Alex Washakie, as first introduced.
Barry, wondering what all this means, asks, "So, I
take it that this talk is over me and the position
I've just been granted?"
"Yes and I apologize wholeheartedly, Mr. Barr..."
"Barry."
"Barry, that all of this, pardon my French,
beauracratic bullshit has to keep you in limbo."
"I take it with a grain of salt, Marsha, knowing that
whatever works out, will be also in the interest of
the children."
"You know, Barry that's so profound. Thank you for
sharing that with me," Marsha confides, patting Barry
on the arm.
Alonzo continues, "So, where is all this leading?"
"Sorry to say, Alonzo that this could all affect your
position here in the elementary school."
"But the kids..."
"I know it'll be tough on them, Alonzo, but some
teachers don't give a damn about anything but
themselves!"
"Well, one satisfaction I'll have, Marsha."
"Oh? And what's that Alonzo?"
"Hee heee... they'll have you to answer to our
fearless leader!"
"You're so bad, Alonzo!" She smiles.
Barry stands there, taking in the conversation,
tagging the demeanor each of these new aquaintances
are taking on. He decides they are more everyday folk,
trying to do things decently and in the interest of
education and not their own personal gain.
"So, where does everything stand, Marsha?"
"Any minute now some aids will come stay with the
children. I'm sorry for all of this Alonzo, but I
suggest you think up a quick farewell speech to tell
your children."
"That sucks."
"I know it does, but like me, Alonzo, our hands are
tied on this one."
"Then may I give you some advice Marsha?"
"Sure Alonzo. From one of my favorite teachers and
I'll deny I said that, if it gets around..." she
paused for Alonzo and Barry to enjoy some light
laughter, "your advice is as good as gold. Let's have
it."
"I'd suggest that when these two new fifth grade
teachers arrive that you make them tote the line,"
Alonzo said facetiously.
"You better believe it... you better believe it!"
>From the interaction of the two, Barry summised that
Marsha Burke ran a tight ship and Alonzo reinforced
the efforts of the captain taking on the helm. So, she
left Alonzo to the fate of bidding his fifth grade
class farewell. At first the children thought that Mr.
Romano would be leaving and Mr. Barr, the 'teddy
bear', would be staying. The kids' evil eyes faded
when they heard both would be leaving. Many sighs of
'ooooohs', filled the auditorium.
Marsha showed with three aids, whom stayed with the
children during the interim exchange.
"Do I detect a tear, Alonzo?"
"Oh, Marsha, you know a teacher gets attached to
students."
"Yes. Some more than others!"
Barry saw the admiration Marsha had for Alonzo, giving
him a shoulder hug. He wondered if there had been more
to just being 'buddies'. He sensed Marsha being single
and already knew that a fact for Alonzo.
"I think you all know each other, except Barry Barr.
This is Gilda Chapman and Phyllis Ward, whom will be
our new fifth grade teachers."
Most likely the two new teachers would sense Barry's
disturbed attitude of two lax women taking over
positions of two highly energetic men. Nothing wrong
with them being women or their demeanor, but the
attitude right away suggested a total drudge the
children would be facing. All Chapman could talk about
is her benefits. For Ward, she complained about things
not getting too strenuous for her, with the younger
children. Barry could sense Alonzo feeling terrible
about the whole raw deal the children were getting.
But one thing remained in the positive. He knew Marsha
Burke would treat them like the rest of the teachers.
Getting the satisfaction that they would have to tote
the line or take a hike made him feel a bit better.
Who knows? Maybe somewhere before Christmas they would
be headed back to their fifth grade positions.
"Can I help you with anything, Alonzo?"
"Um, sure, if you're up to it, Barry."
"Tell you the truth, I offered so I could bum a ride
to the high school."
"Something tells me I should be watching out for you,
Barry!"
The two laughed as Alonzo led Barry to his classroom.
Marsha, as per Alonzo's request, asked her to keep the
children in the auditorium. He had already said his
farewell.
"If you could put all of these things in this box,
please."
"This your stuff?"
"Yeah. The school budget is decent, but I find that I
have to supply some odd stuff to get the point across
for a lesson."
"Nice basketball."
"A fan?"
"With my boys I am."
"How many do you have?"
"Four. Well, Chad is seventeen, almost eighteen and
more self sufficient. But the other three can be a
handful."
"Sometimes I feel Diego is a handful to me. Gosh,
Barry, three young guys, God bless you!"
"Thanks, Alonzo. I need that sometimes, believe me.
However, if it weren't for Bernice Bridges, I don't
think I'd be as settled as I am."
Barry didn't want to bring up all the help Steve has
given him for the fact of getting too close to the gay
issue.
"I've been meaning to give her a call."
"Oh?"
"Yes. I think it's time that I look for a more
permanent home for Diego and I. When I first came to
West Richland she said everything had been sold out,
except the Chatsworth place, which had been way too
much for my wallet!"
"Ahem!"
"What, Barry?" Alonzo looked at his direction.
"I'm taking the Chatsworth place."
"Oh."
"Hey, I'm not trying to put on any airs here, Alonzo.
I mean, oh shoot...."
"Hey, look I don't think any less of you, Barry.
Whatever you do is your business. If you have the
money, fine. Hey, I'm not the jealous type, okay?"
"I know Alonzo. I think you're one of the most down to
earth guys I know, but I want you to know that I'm not
Mr. Moneybags either."
"Welcome to the club."
"Listen, Alonzo, there's something I think I'd like to
get off my chest."
"Hey, Barry. Like I said. I don't have to know your
business."
"Alonzo, Steve Clark is gay."
So, it didn't come out the way Barry had intended on
explaining it.
"Hey, look, knowing Steve Clark is gay, is entirely
besides the point, but I'm no gossiper, Barry and if
you don't mind, you can leave now. I can do my own
packing!"
Alonzo Romano showed more than being ticked off.
"I..."
"Too late for apologies, Barry. I don't care for your
kind and..."
"I see. Well, I'm sorry if I got you all riled up,
Alonzo. Um, this box is all packed. I'll leave it by
the front door. Sorry I bothered you."
"No, wait Barry."
Alonzo blocked his path between the desks, the box
being the separator between their bodies.
"Look, I'm sorry I overeacted."
"You had every reason to, Alonzo."
"Well maybe, but still, this whole thing about giving
up on my kids and all didn't make your thoughts sit
tight with me."
"I know."
"Well, there's more. You see, I thought the way you
were coming on is that you were putting Steve down
and... and, well gay's don't like it when they see
their own kind being put down."
Barry didn't act suprised at Alonzo's insinuation,
tacking his own sexuality onto himself.
"I guess it takes one to know one," Barry meant
himself.
Alonzo took it as Barry meaning him, then said
outright, "I would have never guessed that I'd get
such a homophobic attitude from you, Barry. You seemed
different."
"Me? Homophobic?" Barry laughed his ass off, backing
away, setting the box down on a desk. He held his
stomach like it hurt, as he laughed.
"What?"
"Hate to burst your bubble, Alonzo, but I'm gay."
"Oh shit!" His reply came, leaning against his desk,
his hand over his face in shame. "I can't believe I
said that to you."
"Don't get too bent out of shape, Alonzo," Barry
replied, his hand on Alonzo's shoulder.
"Hey, I'm sorry."
"No need to be. We've had a little misunderstanding.
That's all."
"Still, I owe you one."
"You don't owe me anything, Alonzo. C'mon let's get
these boxes into your car."
"Yeah, okay. Then we'll go for some lunch, if that
interests you."
More than lunch interested Barry, but his stomach did
feel grumbly. After two trips to Alonzo's classroom
and back, they packed themselves in the car and left
the school grounds.
"Yeah, I always get a grumbly stomach after watching
the kids eat their lunch. By the time gym rolls
around, I'm soooo hungry."
"Yeah, the kids take a lot out of a teacher. Doesn't
matter if they are little or high school."
"Damn right. So, how did you get to know Steve Clark,
Barry?"
"Through Bernice Bridges, actually."
"Good looking guy."
"That he is. To make it a short story though, um...
Steve and I are planning on living together."
"Wow! That didn't take long!" Alonzo was shocked out
of his gourd.
"Yeah. Real fast. Like two days. However, it seems
that Steve, well I shouldn't be divulging personal
secrets."
"You started it, finish it man!" Alonzo tapped Barry's
midsection, grinning.
"Hmm, so you do like juicy gossip, huh?"
"Okay don't tell me, Barry."
"Well, Steve claims that when he first set eyes on my
family and I pulling up to the house in Bernice's van
that it was 'love at first sight'!"
"Cool!"
"Yeah. I have to admit though that when I laid eyes on
him later on, as he jogged closer... well, you know
the old adage where a couple are running towards each
other and the feeling gets more intense?"
"You wanted Steve, huh?"
"Pretty much so."
"Man, that's great Barry!"
"Thanks Alonzo."
"So, you're going to pass on the Chatsworth place,
huh?"
"No, on the contrary. You see, Steve and I are buying
it together, which sure takes a load off my mind.
Would have cleared out my bank account."
"You're getting a nice place."
"Yeah, looks that way."
"So, do you have any idea what Steve's asking for his
place?"
"Not really. If you're interested, I'll put dibs in on
it for you."
"I guess an inside approach would help. Tell him to
keep it under two hundred thou!"
"Hee heee... I'll throw my influence in. Hey, you're
still coming over for dinner tonight, right?"
"Well, I ain't got no reason to now!"
"The invitation still stands."
"Thanks. Now maybe I should do some confessing."
"Oh? Got some skeletons to get out of the closet,
Alonzo?"
"Yeah, well my son Diego and I have been talking and I
think... he thinks he might be gay. The reason I'm
telling you is that I'm not sure how your kids will
take it and.."
"Wait now Alonzo, that's immaterial and so is this,
but my ten year old thinks he is too."
"Wow! Small world. And if I'm not mistaken, I think
Steve's boys are gay too."
"Yeah, there's gonna be a lot of little faggots
running around the house!"
"What about the rest of your boys, Barry?"
"Well, Chad, the oldest is definitely gay." He didn't
mention Matty Bridges, though. "Tom, fourteen, seems
to be straight, though he does have questions. Mark,
who's sixteen, is straight, as far as I know."
"And they know that Steve's kids are all gay?"
"Yeah. Um, do you think we can chat over a burger,
Alonzo?"
"Oh sure. Guess people'll get suspicious of why we're
parked in front of the burger stand."
So, Barry and Alonzo get their burgers, fries and
coffee and park themselves on a picnic table. They
seem to be the only ones in the picnic area. Barry
removes his sports jacket, laying it over another
table. He sits with his back to the table.
"Aaah, isn't this the life!"
Alonzo thinks so. Stretching out, arms over his head,
he takes in the sight of two nubs pressing against
Barry's dress shirt. His slightly extending stomach
shows where his bellyhole rests. Nothing is out of
order below the belt.
"Hee heee checking me out, huh Alonzo?"
"Well, you sure know how to embarrass a guy!"
"Not one of my stronger inhibitions, Alonzo. Sorry."
"No problem. So, how do both you and Steve's kids feel
about all of you living together?"
"They seem to be okay with it, maybe even looking
forward to it. You see, my Philip and Steve's Aidan
seem to think they're a 'couple' already."
"Isn't that sweet."
"Yeah, but Steve and I have agreed to have them sleep
in separate rooms."
"Wise choice, I think you're making Barry."
"Yeah, seemed to be. And of course, Chad being
seventeen, he'll be required to sleep at home."
"At home?"
"Oh shit! Well, I guess there's another secret out of
the bag."
"You don't have to tell me Barry."
"Nah, I think you'll be confidential, Alonzo. You see,
Chad and Matty Bridges are kind of tight."
"Hmm, I had an inkling that Matthew Bridges might be
gay, but don't worry Barry. My lips are sealed."
"Thanks. I'd appreciate it."
"Yeah, well a guy doesn't want to be found out when
he's not a hundred percent out."
"That's for sure. So, have there been any loves in
your life, Alonzo?"
"Well, there was my woman, but that didn't last long."
"Oh?"
Barry watched as Alonzo put down his burger and seem
to stare up into the mountains, to recall the facts.
It became his turn to look upon the twenty-four year
old teacher. There wasn't much about him, other than a
fit looking frame and good looking. He didn't really
look hispanic, having as white skin as himself.
Although, the thinly lined goatee did seem to enhance
his facial features.
"She was a good mother to Diego, but not a great
wife."
"I'm sorry Alonzo."
"Thanks, but I'm not sorry that she took off with
another guy. I mean, even thought Diego was a little
baby, he still asks about his mother. I don't slight
her, even though I tell the truth. She was young. We
both were when Diego came along."
How old were you?"
"I was a crazy fifteen year old, with a seventeen year
old prick!"
What could have been funny, under certain
circumstances, remained pathetic in Alonzo's eyes.
"I had no business doing what I did. I have no
excuses, yet I let myself be tricked into thinking I
was a big man."
"Takes two to tango," Barry tried cooling the
situation.
"Yeah, I know. But tangoing with an eighteen year old
women was dangerous."
"Oooh, she was older."
"Yeah, and only in it for the sex. I thought she
wanted a real affair. Didn't matter anyway, since I
found out shortly after that I hated having sex with a
women."
"I'm sorry Alonzo."
"But I'm so glad I talked her out of having an
abortion. I think the whole situation made me want to
become a teacher."
"You're kidding?"
"No, Barry. For whatever reason, I wanted Marylou to
have the baby and I wanted this baby to be a smart
kid. Strange for a fifteen year old kid to have grown
up thoughts like that, huh?"
"No, I don't think so, Alonzo. Sometimes I think my
Chad is way ahead of himself. Yet, it hasn't hurt him
any."
"Well, thanks for saying that Barry."
"So, what happened after that?"
"Well, I didn't let onto my folks that I was gay, but
I did tell them about being the father of Marylou's
baby. Mama was ecstatic. She couldn't wait to have a
grandchild. Papa, well, he didn't rightly say it or
show it."
"You're fortunate your mom liked the idea."
"Yeah, very, considering that Marylou's folks tossed
her out of the house."
"So, Marylou came to live with your folks?"
"Right. Only problem is that right after Diego was
born, mama passed away."
"Oooh, I'm sorry Alonzo."
"Thanks, Barry," Alonzo patted Barry's hand, which
found it's way to his arm, in the way of comfort.
"So, then what happened?"
"Fortunately, there was an insurance policy. Papa
believed in insuring a person up to the hilt, I tell
you. Of course he figured he'd be the first to go."
"So, he had a bigger policy than her, I take it?"
"Of course, but he wasn't skimpy on mama, neither!"
They both chuckled.
"Let me back up a bit here, um right after Diego was
born, Marylou split town. Seems she didn't want to
have any baby to tie her down."
"Disappointed?"
"Nah, not really. I mean, just to look on cute little
Diego's face. I fell in love with him immediately."
"Oooh, that's so sweet."
"Yeah, so, being an only child and having a baby, dad
gave me a tidy sum. He said he wasn't much on having
babies around. I promised to take good care of Diego
and keep him out of my father's way. He wanted to give
him up to my aunt, but I begged him not to."
"I guess you won out."
"Yeah and after awhile my dad had offered to go into
semi-retirement, take care of Diego. He couldn't see
me burning up my insurance money hiring somebody. Dad
and Diego became real good buddies."
"Oooh, that's so nice to hear. Bet your dad misses
him."
"Dad had a stroke. He lives in Florida now in assited
living. However, from his hospital bed, he knew he was
going there, so deeded the house over to me real
guick."
Barry laughed as Alonzo went into this drama about
doing things under the table, so as his dad's assets
could be turned into his own.
"And how's your dad now?"
"Not bad. Every now and then Diego and I will go and
visit him. I sure wish West Richland had a facility
for him. I'd have him up here in no time."
"Yeah, but I would think the weather in Florida is a
lot better for him."
"True. Plus it's a nice getaway for Diego and I to go
visit him."
"I'd love to hear the rest of your story, Alonzo, but
Washakie will think we're playing hooky from school!"
Alonzo laughed, as Barry gathered their garbage,
stowing it in a can.
"Do you like hiking and camping, Barry?"
"Yes, but can't say that we've done much of it."
"Would you be interested?"
"Sure. Drag Steve's gang along with us."
Reaching the high school parking lot, Alonzo pulls
into a spot.
"Isn't this Washakie's spot?"
"Yeah, won't it be a killer when he pulls his hair
out, seeing somebody parked in his spot?"
"You little devil, Alonzo!"
Laughing, they report to the main office.
"Oh look girls! Our morning announcer is back!"
"Morning announcer?" Alonzo reiterates the words of
the secretary.
"Yeah, they found out one of hidden talents this
morning."
"Mr. Barr, would you mind making this announcement of
the girls cheerleading squad?"
"No, wouldn't mind at all!"
Cheerfully Barry walked around the counter, taking the
microphone in hand. Only one thing was on his mind.
What would Steve think upon hearing his voice over the
PA system!
"Attention students... listen up! Girls cheerleading
practice will meet today at 3:15 in the gym," then off
the top of his head he adds, "be there or be
rectang-u-laire!"
Everyone in the office, including two young guys burst
out laughing at the added remark.
"You didn't tell me you were so hip, Barry!" Alonzo
commented.
"Hee hee.. I don't know. Just came up and out, I
guess."
Even the teachers in the classrooms, those thinking it
hip, laughed along with their students. It had become
the highlight of what would normally be just another
day at West Richland High School. Of course the
distinct voice had Steve thinking where he's heard it
before and when it dawned on him, he got an extra
tickle out of it.
Washakie walks in the office and says, "What's with
eveyone? I walk past two classrooms and it's like kids
are actually happy learning!"
Most likely he thought the secretaries laughed at his
joke, when actually they reflected on Barry's 'big
one'.
"Come in gentlemen," Washakie invited Barry and
Alonzo, then turning to the two chairs, "Another
fundraiser Lederman?"
"Yes, Mr. Washakie. We need you to read this over
and..."
The principal picks up the one boy's paper and signs
it off.
"But you didn't even read it Mr. Washakie."
"Just as long as you're not selling marajuana,
Lederman!"
Richie and Jason were the 'kings of fundraisers', not
only initializing them, but drawing in huge funds to
support trips, the tsunami and other worthy causes.
Barry thought they were kind of cute boys. They might
get him to buy whatever they're selling!
"Have a seat gentlemen."
Barry and Alonzo apologized to each other, as when
they sat, they crossed their legs, the tip of their
shoes colliding. Freak accident.
"As you know, Phyllis Ward has vacated... No, let me
put that realistically, between us. Ward has chickened
out of her position teaching here and I need a
replacement."
Alonzo and Barry recovered from their laugh at
Washakie's 'no nonsense' remark.
"At the same time, this year has been earmarked for
team teaching. Now Barry, you were supposed to be team
teaching with Steve Clark. However, since Alonzo, you
are new to the high school and Barry, new altogether,
I'm going to put off Steve's team teaching and pair up
you two. How do you feel about that?"
Barry looks at Alonzo and says, "I protest!"
Of course he waits for their gut reaction and then
smiles.
"Haa ha ha ha haaaa.. oh man, Barry. You had me going
there for a minute," Alonzo reports back to him,
purposely kicking at the sole of Barry's shoe.
Washakie gave his laughing applause as well, saying "I
think we might have our new faculty advisor for the
drama club!"
Alonzo asks seriously, "Lennon's not heading it up
this year?"
"Nope. Say's she's had enough with pulling teeth
trying to get kids to come out to the rehearsals."
"Hmm, well I'd like to take a stab at it."
"Really? Hot damn! I thought we'd be searching the
rest of the semester for a faculty member."
Barry raises his hand, "I'd like to co-advise, if it's
alright."
"I think somebody better throw some water in my face!"
Washakie replied, totally shocked at the offers. In
fact he got on the intercom with his secretary to
bring in the papers to sign, before they got away!
"Well, men, you've totally made my day. Of course, any
production you will need to run by me."
"I suppose no nudity?" Alonzo asks.
"As long as it's not beyond being barechested and
that's only for the guys?"
Barry and Alonzo chuckled. Barry wondered if Alonzo
was thinking what he thought. A couple of barechested
guys might prove nice!
"I'll have a couple of ideas ready for you tomorrow,"
Alonzo offers.
"Hot damn you move fast, Alonzo!"
"Hey, we're talking about students' education here.
Can't take too much time on that fact alone."
Barry asks, "When does the drama club meet?"
"Whenever you say."
"Cool!" Alonzo says.
Washakie leads the two out of his office. Alonzo says
to Barry, "Why don't you get on the horn and announce
the drama club meeting tomorrow afternoon?"
The secretary, smiling, has the mic all reved up for
Barry.
"Attention students, for a short announcement. Sorry
to interrupt... heck, I'm 'not' sorry for interrupting
on account of this is an important announcement!
Tomorrow the drama club will meet in front of the main
office. Meet Mr. Romano and me there or be
rectang-u-laire!"
Those poor teachers, in the middle of lecturing, or
giving an exam, or trying to hold the students
attention.
"Oooh boy!" Washakie said, joking, "I can't wait for
the complaints to start rolling in!"
The biggest jolt came from the seventh period science
class, when Washakie strode in, to excuse the
substitute.
"Students, I'd like to introduce you to your new
science team teachers, Mr. Romano and Mr. Barr."
Well, right away the glum atmosphere jumped alive, as
they recognized, from the previous upbeat announcement
the name 'Romano'. They just figured the other guy was
'the other guy'. Washakie never saw teachers greeted
by students hopping out of their seats and rushing up
to shake the teachers' hands. Instead of saying
anything further, he left the room and let them fend
for themselves.
"Which one of you are the mystery voice?"
"How do you spell that rectangle word?"
"Are any of the dramas you going to do have a steamy
scene?"
Finally the two teachers got the students to sit down.
Of course they hadn't any lesson plan, so Alonzo
adlibbed.
"Today, we're going to have a story on dinosaurs."
Hell, Alonzo's been teaching elementary school. What
better time than 'story time'. "How many of you have
heard the story, 'Where The Wild Things Are'?"
There were many wrinkled up noses, a few sneers and a
couple of cutesy girls whom wanted to desperately hear
the incredibly, sexy twenty-four year old teacher tell
it. Unknowingly to anyone, a few of the guys were
interested in hearing it from their new sexy science
teacher. Of course, given a double whammy, they'd hear
one tell of it and still take in the Dylan McDermott
look alike, as they tried keeping their own monsters
tamed!
"Um, Mr. Barr, would you open the window, please?"
"Sure."
One of the junior boys in the back thought to himself,
'hmm, so that's the dad of Chad Barr? Now I know where
he gets those damn good looks from!'
Another boy sat on the far right, his eyes intent on
the 'story', while undressing Mr. Romano with his
imagination.
A couple of girls wished they had Mrs. Ward back. She
wasn't the cutest chick, but at least she wasn't a
man!
Well, the story turned out differently, Alonzo telling
the high school version, but the students remained
attuned to the rendition. So attuned that they stayed
beyond the sounding of the class change. The next
class coming in, bottled up around the door. Others in
the hallway, became curious and soon security had to
interrupt the mass of students trying to get a look
into the room. It's when a different set of teachers
came in the room that Alonzo and Barry realised that
the seventh period class was their last for the day.
So, they booked.
"Some teaching day. I'm exhausted!" Barry grunted.
"Hee hee heeee.. you have quite the sense of humor,
Barry."
"I do?"
"Don't be coy, boy!"
"Barry!"
"Hi Kade."
"I heard about you getting boosted into instant
celebrity status."
"Huh?"
What freaked Barry out is Kade staring Alonzo up and
down.
"Oh, Kade, this is Alonzo Romano."
"Aha! Glad to meet your cohort in crime!"
The two shook hands. Alonzo had a very warm feeling
when they did. Barry noticed Kade's smile seemingly
'stuck'.
"Oh my, I forgot to call Jade and tell her to expect
two more for dinner. Kade, would you like to join us?"
"Sure. So, you are heading up the drama club, huh?"
Barry excused himself to use the office phone.
"Yes and Barry offered to co-advise."
"That's great. The drama club actually needs a booster
shot. If you need any help, I've had some acting
experiences."
"That's cool. I'll let you know, Kade."
Hmm...the two knew they were eyeing each other up. Why
didn't they just come out and say it! Of course Kade
had his marriage to think about, so that turned that
idea off right pronto-like.
"I told Washakie I'd have a play already to present to
him tomorrow, if you can come up with any ideas,
Kade."
"Hmm, something to think on. Maybe by the time dinner
comes around I'll have something for you."
"Cool. That'd be great. I'm a little rusty on my high
school drama club presentations."
"Yeah, I think somebody mentioned to me you taught on
the elementary level. Married? Have kids?"
"Not married and have a nine year old son. Diego.
You'll get to meet him later. What about yourself? I
mean, as far as kids go?"
"None yet."
"Well, I better go rescue Barry. Um, I'll see you
later Kade."
"Yeah, sure. Nice to meet you."
Kade stood there, watching Alonzo walk away. He almost
cursed himself for being married!

By this time, Matty waited outside the high school for
Chad to get out. Sean had gone home with Ken, eager to
have a talk with him.
"You're quiet."
"Dull day at school, Ken."
"Same here."
"Ken?"
"Yeah, Sean."
"Ken, I... I don't know how the fuck to say this."
Ken waited. He had a bad feeling that the shit readied
to hit the fan.
"Ken, I don't think this is working out between us,
man."
"Huh? But we just met. We've got to give this a
chance, Sean."
"Ken, it's nothing personal. In fact, it doesn't have
to do with any inadequate about you. Blame me."
"But Sean."
"Sorry, Ken. That's all I can say."
Ken didn't say anything further. It was obvious to
Sean that he wasn't taking it well, even though he did
most of the surrendering of feelings.
"Thanks for the ride, Ken."
"I'll see ya around, Sean."
Ken didn't stick around. He cleared out, driving down
the Clark drive and making his exit. Going home, he
sulked, going to his room, stripping off his shirt and
lay down on his bed.
"Fuckin' bastard!"
Putting his pillow over his head, all Ken could think
about was the breakup and then his thoughts turned to
having Sean tied up eagle-spread in his basement.
Instead of a nice bdsm session, Ken envisioned
torturing Sean and getting pleasure out of seeing him
scream his lungs out.
"I'll teach you to fuck with me, Sean Clark!"
Ken found his little black book and looked up the
telephone number of his cousin.

"Going to school is real cool."
"You like it Philip?"
"Yup. Except that I can't play gym yet, Aidan."
"Did you see any guys like me that you thought were
handsome, Philip?"
"Nope. Only you Aidan."
The two walked along the road, back from the bus stop,
Philip's arm over his bud's, backpacks slung over
their arms.
"It's gonna be so cool with you and me sharing a room,
Aidan."
"Yeah, I know, but I wonder if our dads will make us
sleep in separate beds?"
"Does it matter, Aidan? We can sneak in each other's
bed whenever we want to."
"Yeah, I guess."
"Hey, Squirt!"
"Hi Chad, you should see the school they have here!"
"You guys want a ride?"
The two hopped aboard. Matty greeted them and they
turned toward home. Of course they headed towards
Matty's house. When Aunt Bernice was reported not at
home, they hightailed it through the house, out the
backdoor and through the Chatsworth yard and then
entered through the backdoor of the Clark house.
"Hi Jade!"
"How are my little honey's?"
Each greeted Jade and then took up a stool at the
kitchen island. A bowl sat in front of each of two
places. As Jade arranged their snack, they chatted
like the dickens, telling of their day at school. For
Aidan, Philips first day made his extra special in the
telling.

Sean, like his normal routine, hit the shower and then
sitting in a pair of lowrise briefs, tackled the
books. His mind batted back and forth between the
nucleus of an atom and his breakup with Ken. Finally
he slammed the book shut and lay down on his bed. Both
of his hands found a nip and began playing with them.
"God how I love that feeling!" He sighed, mashing them
between his fingers and thumbs.
Soon his hand moved down his hairy trail and under the
elastic of his briefs. Grabbing both balls, he
squeezed them, taking delight at them throbbing with
light pain. His other hand began stroking his cock.
Soon he had to anchor the elastic waistline under his
balls and stroke his shaft from the light blonde hair,
to the head. Precum helped lubricate his movements.
