Nick's Dragons - 12

Because of the trip to Crystal Lake, it had been seven days since Nick had
been to his Mom's apartment. He noted that he was finding it more and more
difficult to think of it as the place where he lived. Daniel's apartment
now seemed much more like home to him.

"Hi mom," Nick called as he stepped through the door. Mrs. Hunter was in
the kitchen area.

"Hi Nicki," she said with tenderness and a big smile.

Nick was surprised.

"Wow, you're in a good mood!" He said, tossing his knapsack onto the floor.

"Just happy I guess," she smiled again and laughed.

"What's happening around here? Everything's all clean and polished, and I
don't smell cigarettes."

"Mitch has been encouraging me. He even helped me clean one night. As for
the smoking, I'm trying to cut down. Mitch likes it when I smoke outside,
so I don't stink up the place."

Nick sat down in the living room and slowly looked around. "It looks
great," he said softly, proud of his mother for the first time in years.

Mrs. Hunter was preparing a chicken for the oven. "Did you have a good time
at that lake place?"

"It was awesome! We went fishing, hiking, swimming. The moon over the lake
was gorgeous."

"Gorgeous?"

"Nick blushed, "You know, really nice!"

"I'm glad you had a good time."

Nick thought for a moment. "Mom, Dan...Derek and I get along great. I
really like it over there. What would you think of me moving? You know,
like that would be where I would live all the time?"

Mrs. Hunter stopped what she was doing. "And not here?"

"I was just wondering," Nick said with a shrug, "you work so much and
everything."

"I don't know, baby," she said softly, "Tell you what, I'll talk to Mitch
about it. Okay?"

Nick nodded. "Is he coming over tonight?"

Nick's mom smiled, "Yeah."

"That's nice. I kind of like him." Nick smiled back.

"You do?"

"Well, I can see how happy he makes you."

Mrs. Hunter blushed.

"Okay," Nick sighed, wanting to change the subject, "I'll be in my
room. Let me know when supper is ready."

Daniel's cell rang just as he was opening one of his bags. "Hello?"

It was Nick, telling him his mom was home and everything was all right.

"I'm just unpacking my stuff and then I need to do some laundry!" Daniel
replied.

"Why?" Nick giggled, "Do you have to wash your dirty undies?"

Daniel chuckled. "Yeah, I used the last clean ones yesterday! I'm going
commando now!"

Nick giggled again, "Sucker!"

"Just for that, I'm going to make you fold everything when you get back
here!"

"Whatever," Nick chuckled.

It was quiet for a moment.

"I asked mom if I could stay at your place, you know, for, like, a long
time."

"What did she say?"

"That she'd think about it, and talk it over with Mitch."

"I wish you would have talked to me, and maybe waited a while before asking
her that."

Nick sighed. "Sorry, I couldn't wait. I want to be with you so bad!"

Daniel took a deep breath. "So do I!" he paused, "Love you, kiddo!"

"I love you, too," Nick said softly.

Daniel finished his unpacking and had just sat down on the sofa when it
struck him. "The book! Where's the damn book?"

He jumped up and hurriedly went through all of his things a second time.

"Fuck! I left it at the lake," He muttered.

He could just see his dad sitting down in his favorite chair, his mom
reaching for her knitting, and the book, `The Joy of Gay Sex' resting on
the end table.

Daniel flopped back down on the sofa, closed his eyes, and rested his head
against the cushions. "I'm dead. I'm so fucking dead!"

* * * *

The next two weeks seemed to pass quickly for Nick. He spent more time at
his mom's place, but still managed to spend the majority of each day with
Daniel. The trips to the library continued, with Daniel focusing on his
school work and Nick with his adventure stories. Mrs. Hunter had not
answered Nick's question about the living arrangements, but seemed content
when he said he was going to be gone for a while. Mitch it seemed was
turning out to be a help rather than a problem.

It was Daniel that encouraged Nick to make the call to Alex. "You need
friends your own age," he had said with a laugh.

Nick nodded, but got a worried look on his face.

"What?" Daniel said with concern.

"Alex is really into his skateboard stuff."

"Yeah, so?"

"So, the thing is, I don't have one."

Daniel tenderly drew Nick into a hug, "Then, I guess we better go and spend
some more of my dad's money."

Nick looked embarrassed. "You don't have to do that."

"How about this? We both buy boards, and then you can show me how!"

Nick grinned, "You know I'll kick your ass!"

Daniel laughed. "What did you say about my ass?"

Nick smiled.

* * * *

Nick asked Daniel to drop him off a block away from where Alex lived. He
thought it might be a good idea to keep a little distance between Daniel
and Alex, at least at first. He especially didn't want his school friend
asking too many questions.

"Nicholaaaaaassss," Alex smiled opening the door to the small townhouse
just at the end of the row of apartment houses.

Nick laughed at the way his friend had drawn out his name pretending to be
an announcer in a boxing ring.

"Hi Alex," Nick smiled walking inside.

"Mom!" Alex yelled at the top of his lungs, "Nick is here!"

A woman looking just a bit older than Nick's mom walked in from what may
have been the kitchen area. She wore a dress that Nick thought probably
would look good on a grandmother, with an apron tied around the waist. He
also saw a few grey hairs mixed in with the light brown.

"Hi, I'm Judith Carson, Alex's foster mom."

"Nice to meet you," Nick said with a touch of embarrassment.

"Alex, why don't you show Nick your room? Then you can have a few hours
outside before lunch is ready."

Alex nodded toward the stairs, "First one on the right," he said as they
ran up.

Nick looked around Alex's room and was instantly impressed. There was a
single bed, made up and tidy. Five or six posters on the wall, a small desk
with books, and a laptop computer. There was a dresser with a handful of
trophies, each with some kind of skateboard on top, and a closet.

"It isn't that great," Alex said with a shrug.

"Way better than what I have."

Alex showed Nick around the rest of the upstairs. There was a slightly
larger master bedroom, one more kid's bedroom, and a bathroom with older
fixtures.

"Who uses the other kid's room?"

"Other foster kids, they come and go. We don't have anyone else right now."

Alex seemed eager to get outside, and so they headed back down the stairs.

* * * *

The parking area near the apartment houses was ideal for teaching a
beginner. Alex patiently helped Nick with his footing, balance, form, and
showed him the things to look for as he rode down the sidewalks and into
the lot.

There were a few falls, but Daniel had insisted on buying knee and elbow
pads to go with the helmet. Nick was getting a little banged up, but not
that bad.

"Can we take a break?" Nick finally begged after one of his more dramatic
spills.

"Yeah, sure." Alex laughed. They sat on the curb to catch their
breath. "You're doing great!"

"How long have you been doing this?"

"For as long as I can remember. My foster dad bought an old board at a
rummage sale or something and brought it home. I remember he held my hands
over my head and walked along side so I wouldn't fall off. I think I was
about five."

Nick smiled. "It must be nice having both a Mom and a Dad!"

Alex was quiet for a moment. "They saved my life," he whispered.

"Your mom seems really nice."

Alex smiled. "Yeah, she is. Especially if you don't count that time that
she whupped my butt with a hairbrush."

"I didn't think foster kids got spanked." Nick laughed.

"I sassed her one day and told her I knew she wasn't allowed to spank me,"
Alex grinned. "She pulled my britches down so fast I didn't know what
happened."

They both laughed.

Alex slowly shook his head. "I deserved it though, and we both knew it. She
really cares about me."

It was quiet again.

"Can I ask you something?" Nick said, pushing some sand around with a
stick.

"Yeah, sure, what's up?"

"Are you worried about school? I mean, its high school and all."

Alex looked at Nick. "I heard that the seniors make all the freshmen run
down the hall in just their underwear the first day."

"That's crap!" Nick laughed.

Alex laughed too. "I hope so," he said softly.

Nick looked over at Alex. "I'm a little worried. I don't know very many
people."

Alex appeared to make up his mind about something. "How about this? I'll
watch your back, and you watch mine?"

Nick smiled. "Deal! Thanks, Alex."

"Ready to get back at it?"

Nick stood up and buckled his chin strap. "Let's do it."

* * * *

Nick was stacking and rinsing the dishes in the sink while Daniel
washed. Supper had been Sloppy Joes.

"You're having a good time with Alex then?" Daniel asked, scrubbing at the
hamburger grease on the frying pan.

"Yeah. He said I'm almost good enough to try some of the obstacles."

"That's, uh, six times you've been to his place?"

Nick nodded. "I think his foster mom is starting to think she's got another
kid."

Daniel chuckled, "School's starting soon, for both of us."

Nick was quiet for a moment. "Yeah, I've been thinking about that. I even
talked to Alex. We made a deal. We're going to watch out for each other."

"That sounds great. Did your mom say anything more about you staying here?"

"She and Mitch are still talking it over. Sometimes she thinks it might be
okay and then other times she wants me there."

Daniel nodded.

Nick put down his dish towel, stepped behind Daniel, and gave him a hug. "I
wish I could stay here all the time."

Daniel rinsed the soap from his hands, turned around and they hugged
again. "I know you do. We'll figure something out. It'll just take some
time."

Nick looked up and they kissed. As it ended, Nick smiled. "The rest of the
dishes can wait," he said with a playful smirk.

Daniel hugged him tenderly. "Are you horny twenty four hours a day?"

"Pretty much!" Nick laughed.

* * * *

Daniel grunted as Nick pushed the blunt head of his dick firmly through the
ring of his ass and an inch up his butt. "No kiss first?" he complained.

Nick had taken Daniel by the hand and playfully dragged him from the
kitchen into the bedroom. Without another word he had gotten to his knees,
undid Daniel's belt, unzipped him and pulled out his dick. Seconds later,
he'd had Daniel's cock in his mouth.

"That's nice," Daniel had whispered as Nick worked his shaft. He licked up
and down the length and circled the soft head. He'd tongued the pee slit
and jerked it a couple of times. "Suck it a little more," he'd said, softly
pulling Nick's head back onto his dick.

Nick had pursed his lips, went down further on it, and sucked. There had
been a few slurping sounds as he'd given it his best effort.

After a few minutes, Nick had lifted his mouth off Daniel's cock and looked
up. He stroked him a couple of times.

"How do you want it?" he had grinned.

Daniel had shaken his head, "Doesn't matter."

Nick had stood up, gave Daniel a lingering kiss and then maneuvered him
toward the bed.

"Bend over," he'd smiled.

Daniel, his pants tightly wrapped around his ankles, had shuffled the last
few steps and bent over. Placing his hands on the end of the bed he'd stood
motionless as Nick smiled, dropped his own pants and fetched the lube. Nick
had pulled Daniel's cheeks open and slowly pushed a greasy finger up his
ass.

Nick had given the finger a twist and a quick thrust as if to say "Enough
of that!" Daniel had settled down. Nick had then put the flared head of his
dick where his finger had just been, centering it on the target.

"A kiss? Nah, I just want to fuck some ass," Nick giggled, pushing forward.

Daniel grunted and leaned forward as Nick slid further into his rectum. He
moaned as Nick kept going until his balls were resting against his
ass. Daniel spread his legs a little further to give his lover more room.

"So much for romance!" Daniel grunted, as Nick slammed in without a pause.

When it was all over, Daniel would be the first to admit it had been pretty
good sex. Nick had ridden him hard, shoving his cock as far as he could up
Daniel's ass. He twisted it a few times and really reamed him good. Daniel
for his part had loved every moment.

Nick groaned, cursed, and rabbit fucked at the end. That was enough to get
Daniel going. Nick's cream shot deep up Daniel's ass at the same time that
Daniel pumped his own gooey streaks onto their bed.

"Oh, fuck," Nick finally moaned as he came to a stop. "That was a good
one!"

Daniel wiggled, leaned forward, and pulled his ass off Nick's dick. "Yeah,
you really pounded the shit out of me that time," he laughed softly.

Turning around, Daniel saw Nick idly stroking his rapidly re-inflating
dick.

"Did I say we were done yet?"

Daniel rolled his eyes.

* * * *

It was a week later when everything changed. Nick had gotten into the habit
of having dinner on Friday's at his mom's place. He left Daniel in the
library about four. Daniel had said he'd give him a ride, but Nick wanted
some time to think. So, he chose to walk.

The apartment was quiet when Nick entered. There were groceries on the
counter, still in shopping bags. Nothing seemed to have been put away. His
mom's purse was by the phone, and the television was turned to the local
news channel. A few cigarette butts sat in an ashtray on the coffee table.

"Mom? I'm home!" Nick called, starting down the hall to her room.

The door was open. He found her sprawled across the bed, a very large vodka
bottle empty at her side.

"Shit!" Nick said softly, staring at a scene he had come across many times,
but had hoped he wouldn't see again.

"Mom?" he said gently as he walked up to her and shook her arm. "Come on,
mom," he said shaking her a little harder.

As he looked down, Nick saw the color in her face was different. It seemed
more grey than normal. His heart beat a little faster.

"Mom? Wake up." He shook her again.

His mother's head rolled from side to side; there was something odd about
the way it moved.

"Mom, you're scaring me!" Nick crawled onto the bed and began to shake her
with both hands.

He pried an eye lid open. She was totally passed out. He put his ear to her
chest and was relieved to hear her breathing. But it was shallow. He shook
her one more time. Then he put his mouth close to her ear. "Mom!" he
yelled, hoping that the loud noise would bring a reaction, but it didn't.

Nick started to tremble. "Oh my God, Oh, my God!" he whispered when the
full extent of his mom's condition began to dawn on him. He just knew she
was in trouble.

Nick jumped off the bed and ran to the phone. The phone was slightly off
the hook, so he had to replace it before he could make the call. He dialed
9-1-1.

Nick stood there stunned, unsure of what to do next. As the sound of fire
trucks and an ambulance drew near he started to cry, tears streaming down
his face. Fear took over. He picked up the phone and dialed again.

"Daniel?" Nick sobbed, "I need you!"
