Rodie's Love, by Snwdemon

Chapter 1.

It was starting out beautifully, the weather forecast promised it
was going to be clear and hot. The extended outlook had all the signs of
this going to be a classic summer on the beach. The temperature was
already 80 degrees and it was only nine o' clock in the morning. Jim put
on a fresh pot of coffee before he jumped into the shower. As Jim step out
into the bedroom in his terry cloth robe, he could already see the
adolescent boys staying at the KOA Campground next door starting to head to
the beach just beyond the dunes. Jim watched as he threw on a pair of jean
shorts and a polo shirt then sauntered out to the kitchen for his morning
coffee. With his coffee in hand, he sat out on his sundeck to read the
paper and boy watch. Jim always loved watching the teen boys from the KOA
in the mornings because their natural energy highlighted their beauty.
Today was no different from the many mornings he had grown accustom to
living here in Rodanthi on the Outer Banks. The only thing he noticed was
a new camping trailer was parked in the second row closest to the dunes.
It must have arrived after midnight, and it appeared to be fairly new
looking which probably meant that it was a young family. Since there
wasn't really anything going on and no fresh faces to watch, he turned his
attention to the paper. Jim had just finished his second cup of coffee
plus the sports section when the boy came out of the new trailer. Normally
this would not have grabbed Jim's attention except the boy was only wearing
what appeared to be a Speedo. That is unusual in the fact that you don't
see many young boys wearing Speedo's at the beach, it is normally the knee
length clam digger trunks or the surfing style board trunks. The boy also
had straight jet-black hair that hung down to his pert little butt. If
looking at him from behind, you would probably mistake him for a girl.
When the boy turned towards Jim, his breath caught in his throat, God he
was absolutely gorgeous, Jim thought to himself. The boy saw Jim watching
him so he waved; Jim raised his coffee cup towards the boy then pretended
to read his paper. The boy was busy removing stuff from the back of the
Jeep Cherokee and placing them in various places. Jim read the Community
News section and then went inside to get another cup of coffee.

Jim decided to have some fresh sliced fruit and cottage cheese for
breakfast and was slicing watermelon when he heard this angelic voice say
hello from his sundeck. He walked to the door and there was the boy,
standing on his sundeck with a shy smile on his face. He had a beautiful
complexion normally not seen with jet-black hair and just a sprinkle of
freckles across his button nose and cheeks. However, it was his eyes that
grabbed Jim's attention, the boy had green and gold-colored eyes that were
so striking, and definitely not the norm. What kid had two different
colored eyes, and what should have been seen as a defect only added to his
overall beauty. His creamy white skin, long jet-black hair partially
covering one shoulder, his slim build with just a touch of baby fat where
it counted. And what Jim mistook for a Speedo turned out to be a light
blue pair of cotton Le Tigre bikini briefs for boys. Jim was infatuated
looking at him, and the boy saw him staring and did a little turn to the
left and right. He was definitely a cutie, although a little young for
Jim's taste. He was about 4' 7" and looked to weigh about 70 lbs. if that
much, with creamy white skin and no hint of a tan anywhere. He had a
decent little boy bulge for his size with one of those pert little butts.
Not too big or not too small, but just right for his body.

Jim shook himself out of the trance he was caught in and quickly
apologized, then asked the imp what he could do for him. The imp
introduced himself as Rodie, pronounced row-dee, and asked if he could
borrow some coffee for his mom since they didn't bring any. For some
unknown reason Jim told him to go and invite his parents over for coffee
and light breakfast. Rodie replied, with a sad look on his face, that it
was only his mom and him since his dad left last year. Jim told him how
sorry he felt for him and told him to go get his mom for some coffee and
light breakfast then. Rodie said "ok I will be back in a few minutes" and
off he went. Jim watched Rodie scamper down the steps and over to their RV
trailer. Ten minutes later Rodie came out wearing yellow floral print
board shorts and tugging his mother's arm towards Jim's house. She
introduced herself as Cathy and that Rodie was her 10-year-old son, which
Jim then introduced himself to her. She then thanked Jim for his
hospitality and Jim told her to forget about it since he enjoyed the
company in the summer. Jim then brought out coffee and a platter of fresh
fruit, muffins, and cottage cheese in which Cathy said that he shouldn't
have, but Jim replied that he had to eat every now and then himself which
extracted a giggle from Rodie. Again she thanked Jim; to which he told
them to help them selves then asked how she took her coffee. She surprised
him by replying that for her black but cream and two sugars for Rodie. Jim
gave her a quizzical look and Cathy explained that Rodie has been drinking
coffee since he was 4. So Jim asked Rodie how many walls did he bounce off
of in the morning, which got him even more giggles.

Once the coffee was served Jim gave her a brief rundown of himself.
She had asked him what he did for a living and Jim told her that he was
retired due to disability. He explained that he had broken his shoulder,
elbow, ribs, spine, pelvis, hip, and knee in an auto accident five years
ago and was fully disabled. But that he lived on his military disability
and investments from a court settlement which was quite substantial. He
also explained that his tan was natural because he was Hispanic. He also
guessed it was because he was still able to walk that was confusing her,
but he explained that summertime was the good period for him as long as he
didn't overexert his self too much, and that she should see him hobbling
around in the winter. He then asked her about herself, if she didn't mind
him asking, she said she didn't mind. Cathy said her husband walked out
last year and filed for a divorce that was finalized just this month in
which she got everything without dispute including sole custody of Rodie.
Jim was about to ask why that was, but Cathy's look towards Rodie told him
that this wasn't a good time so he changed the subject and asked what she
did. She said she owned and operated a deli in Richmond, Virginia and
lives in the suburban town called Mechanicsville. Moreover, that the shop
provided enough for her and Rodie to get by on comfortably, but this was
their first vacation to the beach. She explained that they planned to
spend the whole summer here except for a couple of times when she had to be
home.

Jim then turned his attention to the little eating machine next to
him and asked him what did he plan to do here other than sprout gills and
fins. Through a mouthful of watermelon and giggles Rodie said he wanted to
go to Kill Devil Hills and watch the hand gliders and get some kites.
Cathy quickly explained that it was Rodie's hobby collecting kites. Rodie
then proudly boasted that he had 22 kites, windsocks, and streamers already
and asked if Jim wanted to see them. Jim said sure but only after Rodie
finished chewing on the plate which got him another snort of giggles.
Rodie then spit a seed out over the railing and Cathy told him that it
wasn't polite. To which Jim interjected that it was no fun when eating
watermelon if you couldn't spit the seeds out. Jim managed to coax a few
more general tidbits out of Rodie, learning that he just turned 10 in May
and was going into the 5th grade come fall, and that he loved planes,
rockets, bikes, and skateboarding although he wasn't that good at it. Jim
told him to practice and to remember to have fun and he would get better at
it.

Well they finished their impromptu breakfast and Rodie grabbed
Jim's hand and started dragging him over to their jeep to show him his
collection. Jim had to admit that Rodie had quite a collection from a
windmill windsock to a Chinese box kite. He then had to show Jim the
trailer explaining how they just got it and it was so cool, although it was
pronounced kewl. He then started begging Cathy to let him go to the beach
in which she replied that she would take him later once they had finished
setting everything up. She said she didn't have that much experience with
RV trailers, but Jim told her he would help because he did know how to
setup the RV trailers. Once everything had been setup Cathy asked if he
wanted to tag along to the beach, to which Jim agreed. He told her that he
had portable beach chairs and an Igloo for some drinks, that he would meet
them at his house in a few minutes. Once home Jim changed into some
Surfing trunks and grabbed a few beach towels before heading out to the
kitchen. He was putting various drinks in the cooler when they arrived and
he smiled when Rodie walked in like he owned the place. He told them that
he was almost ready, but that he had to get the chairs first.

Jim asked them if they wanted the grand tour of his home and
proceeded showing them around. His place was decorated fashionably in
wicker and country style furniture. He saw Cathy's expression when she saw
the Julie Bell portraits on the living room walls along with his collection
of unicorns. He quickly explained that he was a Fantasy art collector, but
unicorns were his passion. Rodie was enthralled with his hand blown glass
unicorn collection on display in his glass curio cabinet. Jim walked over
and absently put his arm around Rodie's shoulder and asked him if he liked
them, to which Rodie replied that they were beautiful. Jim turned and went
on to explain each of the Julie Bell portraits he had acquired so far,
remarking that of all of her portraits his favorite was the Boy Wizard.
Cathy examined it for a few moments, then remarked how the boy resembled
Rodie. Jim looked at Rodie and then to the portrait and had to agree that
the boy in the portrait looked like Rodie without the long jet-black hair.
They all laugh while Rodie blushed slightly but with a huge grin on his
face. Jim went on to show the rest of the house which consisted of 3
bedrooms, 2 full baths, dining room/kitchen, and a large sunken living room
with panoramic windows on both exterior walls. The bottom floor consisted
of the garage, laundry room, and his Jacuzzi tub that held six adults.

Rodie immediately wanted to try out the Jacuzzi, but Jim and Cathy
quickly reminded him they were going to the beach, but maybe this evening
he could try it out. Jim then remembered something and told them to wait
for a second while he went into the storage closet in the garage. After a
few minutes of rummaging around he returned carrying a five-foot long
boogie board to which Rodie started jumping up and down with squeals of
delight. Jim told him that since he could no longer use it and that if
Rodie wanted it he could have it, and Rodie turned and begged him mom if he
could have it. Cathy said it was ok which produced even more squeals from
Rodie as he ran and hugged Jim thanking him, she then looked at Jim and
said thank you. He replied that someone in his condition had no use for
something like that, and that it has been sitting unused for almost two
years now. He then asked Rodie if he was ready, and when he got a loud yes
from both Cathy and Rodie, he told them "Let's go then". He grabbed 3 bags
then quickly said "chairs" then headed up followed by Rodie and his mom.
They then grabbed the towels and cooler and headed off to the beach just
beyond the dunes.

On the way to the dunes Jim chose a sandy path that appeared to be
cut out of the dunes when Rodie asked if it would be better if they took
the walkway/bridge over the dunes. Jim said that he didn't climb stairs
that well and the other side of the dune there was about 40 steps down to
the beach. The small group trudged over the dunes and stopped as Rodie got
his first look at the ocean, Jim asked him what he was thinking and all
Rodie could say was "WOW!" Rodie then said he would race him to the water,
but Jim politely explained that this was his top speed due to his accident.
He told Rodie to go on ahead and pick them a spot out on the beach and they
would follow, and with shout of glee Rodie was off and running towards the
deep blue ocean. Cathy walked along side Jim and told him that he really
made Rodie happy, she said that it has been quite awhile since she's seen
him this happy. Jim replied that it must be hard on him with his father
just walking out like that. Cathy said it was, but maybe another time she
would explain the situation to him, Jim apologized for prying but Cathy
told him that it was ok but she just wanted to enjoy the first day with
Rodie. Jim understood and told her they had better pick up the pace before
Rodie sprouted scales and a tail to which she agreed laughing.

Once they had setup the beach chairs and got the towels laid out
Jim asked Rodie why he wasn't wet yet. Rodie gave him and his mom a
sheepish look and said, "I'm kinda scared...it's so big and the waves are
huge." Jim told him not to worry, that he would go with him until he felt
comfortable enough to go alone. Jim then stood and pulled off his shirt
and was about to undo his shoes when he saw both Cathy and Rodie staring.
The scars were still very visible although from a distance his tan hid
them; Jim looked at them and said, "I told you I was on the losing end of a
fight with a chain saw". Rodie then came over and started tracing the scar
on his left side with his finger, he looked at Jim and asked "does it still
hurt?" Jim looked at him and said "yes it ides, especially when it is cold
or damp or if I over exert myself. That is why I moved here to Rodanthi
four years ago, the weather here is much more agreeable to me than where I
used to live up north." He then ruffled Rodie's hair and said, "hey
squirt, if you want to try out that board then lets get cracking boy."
Rodie gave him a frown before letting out a squeal of giggles as he grabbed
the sides of his yellow board trunks and pulled them down and stepped out
of them leaving him with just a skimpy pair of navy blue Speedo's, that
caused Jim to stare. Jim turned and asked Cathy if she was joining them,
she politely declined saying she was going to work on her tan for awhile
but for them to go ahead.

Jim followed as Rodie carried the boogie board to the water's edge,
"hang on there squirt" Jim said coming up along side Rodie. Rodie was
frowning even more as Jim looked at him, "hey what's the matter there
buddy?" "I don't like being called squirt" Rodie mumbled looking down at
his feet. "Hey it's ok, it's just the way I am, but if it makes you feel
bad I won't say it anymore ok? So am I forgiven little dude?" "Now that's
better...ok I guess I can forgive you if you show me how to ride this
thing." Rodie said grinning ear to ear. "It's a deal," Jim said smiling
back at him, "there are a couple of thing's to know before you go ok.
First off, you see that rope hanging from the board, that is your tether
and you attach it to your wrist so in case you get dumped or washed out by
a wave your board won't go flying away without you. Also if you're in deep
water all you have to do is follow it up to the board and it's a floatation
device for you, got that?" "Yeah I got it." "Next is that you are not in
a pool, this is the ocean and there are big waves, undertow, and riptides
to worry about. Ok look at the waves coming in, see how the water comes
way up on the sand when a big wave comes in? Well watch what happens to
this stick that I throw at the edge."

Jim tossed the stick down onto the damp sand just as a wave was
breaking; Rodie watched as the wave broke over the stick then rushed up to
almost their feet. The stick was pushed almost to where they were standing
until the water reversed. Rodie watched as the stick was sucked backwards
then under the water only to surface about 6 feet from the shore. "What
was that?" he asked. "That is what's called an undertow. Most of the time
you can just have fun because it isn't that strong, but if a big wave comes
in the undertow is much stronger and if your not paying attention you can
be pulled out ten to twenty feet from shore in seconds. So if a wave comes
in just as you're coming out of the water make sure you brace yourself,
sort of like a fighting stance like this. And if the tow does pull you out
remember to take a deep breath and hang onto your board because it will
bring you to the surface the quickest then a life guard or myself will come
and get you. The biggest threat to you though is riptides though; a
riptide is a very strong current that runs parallel to the shore but angles
away slightly. If you get caught in a riptide you'll notice that no matter
how hard you swim you are still moving sideways and out farther from shore.
If that happens scream for help and try swimming at an angle towards the
shore in the direction you are being pulled, and again keep a hold of your
board until someone is able to reach you, ok?" "Ok, I think I got it."

"Umm...what about sharks?" Rodie asked with a worried look on his
face. "Well they do come around here but not that often, just pay
attention to the life guard, if he starts blowing his whistle and ordering
everybody out of the water do as he says immediately." "Ok" Rodie replied.
"Oh and one last thing, how good a swimmer are you?" "I don't know, ask
mom she can tell you better than I can." Jim turns and Cathy tells him
"Rodie is a good swimmer, he can hold his breath for over a minute and swim
the entire length of the Olympic sized pool five times back home." "Good
enough" Jim says turning back to Rodie, "Let's get wet." With that he
turns and runs into the water with Rodie right beside him. For the rest of
the day Jim taught Rodie how to surf using the boogie board, only stopping
for periodic breaks and lunch when Cathy snuck off and returned with it in
a basket.

As the sun started to get lower in the sky Jim told Rodie to call
it a day because he was tired. Rodie started to protest when Cathy came to
his rescue. "Rodie, it's time to go and get cleaned up for dinner." "Aww
mom do I have too?" "Yes young man we can come back tomorrow ok?" Looking
intently at Jim, "Oh alright, hey mom, hey can Jim come over for dinner?"
Rodie asked as he ran up to where Cathy was sitting "I don't know honey, I
really haven't got anything to make, I was thinking we could grab something
out while I went shopping." Jim heard this as he straggled in and eased
himself into his chair, he looked exhausted. "Hey surf boy, how about you
and your mother come on over to my place for dinner?" Rodie beamed hearing
Jim call him surf boy, "well can we mom?" he asked. Cathy thanked Jim for
the offer and started to say he had done enough already for them when Jim
cut her off. "Now don't you go and spoil our reputations here for our
hospitality I insist. Anyway it is no trouble at all for me to sacrifice a
few burgers and dogs to the fire goddess," he said.

"Then I guess it's settle then, and thank you again Jim for being
so nice to us" Cathy replied. Grinning Jim said "tell you what, I don't
know what kind of accommodations you have but why don't you run by and grab
some clothes and you can use my shower to clean up while surf boy and I
carry the chairs and cooler to my house?" Cathy agreed and they packed up
everything agreeing to meet Jim at his house in 15 minutes. Cathy saw the
noticeable limp as Jim walked back towards his house as Rodie chatter and
giggled along side of him. Once they got the chairs put away and unloaded
the cooler Cathy arrived with some fresh clothes for Rodie and herself. As
Rodie took his clothes from her he complained "mom you know I don't like
wearing boxers." "I know you don't honey, but your looking pretty pink
right now and your other underwear might irritate you tonight." Jim looked
over and saw that Rodie's shoulders, chest, back, and legs were a bright
pink bordering on red. "I am so sorry for not even thinking about
sunscreen Cathy, I guess I have been here on the beach too long." "It's ok
Jim, it doesn't even hurt" Rodie replied. "Not now it doesn't, but later
it will. You definitely got a healthy dose of sun today, and your mom's
right about the boxers, the looser the better surf boy" Jim said but Rodie
gave him a quizzical look instead.

"Come here ok", Jim reached out and pulled the waistband down about
an inch on Rodie's Speedo's revealing the line separating bright pink skin
and the creamy white skin covered by the Speedo. "See the difference, in a
couple of hours you will start to feel the effects from the burn Rodie."
Turning to Cathy, "I think I have something that might help ok" Jim
explained. He got up and with a very noticeable limp walked back to his
bedroom then returning with a big bottle with a blue gel inside. "This is
called 'After Sun Lotion', it has always worked for my niece and nephew
when they come visit. What you do is rub him down thoroughly after he
showers, then dress him in just his boxers for tonight. Do it again in the
morning also, it is supposed to re-moisturize the skin and prevents peeling
by changing the burn into a tan. He will still need to wear high SPF
sunscreen for the next couple of days, but it should help stop much of the
pain" Jim told her.

Cathy took the bottle from him and remarked "you appear to be
suffering yourself you know. I can tell you really over did things today."
"Well yes I did, and I am paying for it, but it is worth it now and then
because otherwise I'd go mad with the boredom, plus it reminds me that I'm
still alive" Jim answered. "I just need a hot shower and my medication and
I will be fine, speaking of which if a young surf boy don't scoot we will
all starve to death you know." With a lot of giggles and a swat on his
pert butt from Cathy, Rodie went off to shower. "Is there anything I can
do while I'm waiting for him to finish up Jim?" Cathy asked. "Sure, if
you like you can break out veggies for the burgers, and start making the
patties while I get cleaned up ok?" "No problem Jim, just point me in the
right direction to where I can find everything." "Ok, the veggies are in
the bottom left drawer, hot dogs in the top, and hamburger is in the bottom
right drawer. The Pantry is over there, cooking utensils are in those
drawers and the knives are hanging over there." With that, he limped off
into the bedroom to shower and change.

Fifteen minutes later he walked into the kitchen to see a plate of
lettuce, sliced tomatoes and onions set out on the counter along with 8
patties and hot dogs on a platter while Cathy sat outside watching the
people return to the campground. Jim grabbed a glass and filled it with
water so he could take his pain medication before joining her outside.
Cathy looked at him as he came outside "well you look like your stiffing
up" noticing his cane in his left hand. "I am, but this stuff will help,
just don't ask me to drive anyplace is all" Jim replied smiling at her.
After gulping down his medication, he looked around and asked where Rodie
was. Cathy said he hadn't come out yet, then Jim told her that he heard
the shower shut off just as he was stepping in his. Cathy got up and went
inside to check on Rodie, but returned after a few moments and told Jim
that she had a problem. "I don't know how to ask this of you Jim but
umm...Rodie has a little bit of a problem. He is really very shy about me
seeing him undressed, always has been for some reason, and won't let me in
to put the lotion you gave me on him. His father used to be the only one
Rodie would allow himself to be naked with. I always considered it to be a
boy thing but now that his father is not around I don't know what to do.
He asked if you could come in and put the lotion on his sunburn for him, if
not he won't put it on." "Well if you don't have any objection to it, I
can't see any reason why I can't if it is what Rodie wants. I am just
surprised that he would ask for me since we only met this morning and
neither of you really know me that well." Jim replied while thinking that
he couldn't believe his luck.

Cathy Thought for a moment and then said "I know we just met this
morning, but from what I have seen so far, I think you can be trusted, and
as for Rodie, he is a much better judge of character than you think. If he
had any doubts about you he wouldn't have even spoke to you this morning.
He definitely surprised me when he concocted that story about borrowing
coffee for me. I was planning on going to the 7-11 down the road for
some." Jim choked a little on his drink when she told him that, "that was
his idea?" Jim asked. "Yes it was, I guess he saw something he liked in
you, and so far I've never seen him make a wrong judgement about someone."
Just about that time Rodie stuck his head around the corner and asked if
Jim was coming or should he get dressed. Jim told him that he would be
there in a moment, then told Cathy in a hushed voice after Rodie returned
to the bathroom, "Uh, I don't know how to say this to you but I want you to
know that I'm gay ok."

"Oh that, I knew before we went to the beach, you forgot to hide
your magazines by the recliner, and I saw them this morning. Don't worry
about it, it makes no difference to me one way or another" Cathy explained
while Jim remembered the Playgirl and other magazines he had by the
recliner. "Do you think Rodie should know, it might make him uncomfortable
knowing I am gay you know" Jim asked Cathy. "Don't worry about it I said,
trust me when I say that Rodie is a very good judge of character. He won't
mind if your gay, matter of fact I won't be surprised if he knew before he
dragged me over for coffee and breakfast." "Does it show that much?" Jim
asked her with a concerned look to which Cathy replied "no it doesn't, you
just have to get to know my son is all. He is very intuitive about people.
You better go before he comes out and hollers at us again." Cathy said with
a sly smile on her face.

Feeling a little confused Jim got up and rather stiffly went to the
main bathroom and knocked on the door. "Who is it?" he heard Rodie squeak,
"It's me Jim, surf boy." The knob rattled as the door was unlocked and
opened with Rodie, towel wrapped around his waist, half hiding behind the
door just in case his mom was there too. "Don't worry surf boy, it's just
me." Jim said as he stepped inside and closed the door. Jim closed the
lid on the toilet and sat down leaning his cane against the wall. "Ok surf
boy, what seems to be the problem then." "Uh, I was wondering if you could
put the lotion on my sunburn for me please" Rodie asked shyly. "What's
wrong with your mom doing this instead of me?" Jim asked him. "She's a
girl!" Rodie exclaimed with a shocked look on his face which made Jim
chuckle. "I see, that does seem to be a valid reason, and you are sure you
don't mine me doing this? You know I'll see your weenie." Jim said which
brought a burst of giggles from Rodie. "It's ok cause you're a boy like
me. My dad always said that being naked was ok around other boys cause we
are all boys." Rodie explained while looking at his feet. "I understand
Rodie, but you do know that not all boys are the same don't you?" Jim asked
gently. "No, a boy is a boy isn't he?" Rodie replied looking a little
confused.

Jim took a deep breath and explained "well you know how boys like
girls right?" "Yeah, like my mom and dad." "Exactly, well what about boys
who like other boys the same way your mom and dad like each other?" "So?
What's wrong with that?" Rodie replied. "Well some people don't like boys
who like other boys. What I am trying to say is that I like other boys
instead of girls. I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable around me is
all." Jim said looking into Rodie's face for a trace of apprehension."You
like boys instead of girls Jim?" Rodie asked with a small smile on his
face. "Yes I do, people call men like myself 'Gay'." Jim explained. "Do
you like me Jim?" Rodie asked innocently. "Yes I do Rodie, I like you very
much, I think you're a beautiful boy. Today was the best day I have had in
a long time and it was because I met you." Jim said as he watched Rodie
blush.

For a moment it looked like Rodie was considering what Jim had just
said to him, all of the sudden a sad look of anguish appeared on his face
then Rodie let go of the towel he was holding around his waist and threw
his arms around Jim's neck and hugged him tight, "I like you too Jim" Rodie
said in a quivering voice. Jim could feel Rodie's body shaking as the
young boy fought to stop the tears that were beginning to run down his
sunburned face that was buried in his shoulder. Jim just wrapped his arms
around Rodie and pulled him up into his lap as the long pent up sorrow was
finally released. He rocked and caressed Rodie's back, sides, arms, and
stroking his long hair while whispering that it was ok, to go ahead and let
all the bad feelings out. Jim could imagine the struggle Rodie has gone
through over this past year keeping in all the pain and loss of his father
walking out as he did. He must have sat there for 10 minutes or more
holding and caressing the naked little boy while he cried himself out.
When his crying finally ceased and Rodie looked into his face, Jim saw the
anguish he had gone through and watched as embarrassment started to creep
into his adorable little face. "I'm sorry Jim...I couldn't help it."
Rodie said, still sniffling. "Ssshhh now, I know you couldn't help it,
it's ok to cry, just go ahead and get it all out now." Jim soothed still
caressing Rodie's back. "I think I'm ok now Jim, this makes me feel
better." Jim gave Rodie a questioning look. "My dad used to hold me like
this when I was afraid or hurt." Rodie explained as he laid his head back
down on Jim's shoulder still sniffling but not as much now. "It's ok
Rodie, I don't mind, you take all the time you want ok, I'm here as long as
you need me my beautiful boy." Jim whispered. He then turned and lightly
kissed Rodie's forehead and then his nose. Rodie smiled and sat up looking
into Jim's face.

"You ok now surf boy?" Jim asked. "Yeah, I'm ok now Jim. Thank
you." Rodie said quietly while wiping his tear-streaked face with the back
of his hands. "Anytime beautiful, I am here whenever you need to talk, or
need a hug ok." Rodie gave Jim a questioning look as he stood up and faced
him. "You keep calling me beautiful...why?" Rodie asked innocently.
"Because to me you are beautiful. Remember I told you I like boys instead
of girls, well your one of the most beautiful boys I have ever known." Jim
replied. "You really think I'm beautiful?" Rodie asked in a squeaky little
voice, "Yes I really do" Jim replied which brought a toothy smile from
Rodie. "Ok let's get you rubbed down so we can eat, your mom is probably
eating the china right now." Jim said in a suffering tone, which got a
giggling response from Rodie. Rodie stepped back a little and stood with
his hands behind his head so Jim could see all of him. Jim looked at Rodie
from head to toe seeing the young boy in all of his naked glory for the
first time. "Very beautiful" as Rodie turned completely around for him.
His slim frame was absolutely perfect in Jim's eyes, the little pink tits
with their nipples pointing out. His flat stomach and belly button that
wasn't quite an innie or outie, his narrow hips, which were perfect for his
body. Down to his hairless groin and soft, circumcised 2-inch penis, the
head was a slight bluish color, while his scrotum was larger than Jim had
imagined for a boy his age even though it was pulled up tight against his
body.

Jim poured some lotion in his hands and started to massage it into
Rodie's chest and shoulders. As he worked his way down he found the places
where Rodie was the most ticklish such as his neck and ribs. He applied a
thorough amount of lotion on the imp's body gently massaging it in till he
reached the line where Rodie's Speedo was. He saw that Rodie's pecker was
now standing straight out with a very slight upward curve in it, it was at
least 3 inches long but no thicker than his pinky finger. Jim started to
massage lotion into Rodie's legs which he opened a little wider to allow
Jim easier access to his legs. As Jim reached Rodie's knees, he found
another sensitive area behind his knees that sent him into giggles. "Hey
now, hold still or that thing will poke me in the eye surf boy." Jim said
while gently grabbing Rodie's boner with his thumb and fore finger, which
elicited another squeal, but Rodie didn't attempt to remove his hand. Jim
gave the bluish colored head a gentle squeeze, which cause Rodie to take a
quick deep breath, before he let go and continued applying the lotion to
Rodie's calves and feet. He then had Rodie turn around and pull his hair
that extended down to his firm little butt, around to the front. Jim
gently applied the lotion on his back and then gave his butt a caress and a
gentle squeeze. "Hey, my butt isn't burned." Rodie exclaimed with a
giggle while looking back over his shoulder. "I don't know, it looks kinda
pink to me." Jim said dubiously giving it another caress while grinning at
Rodie. Rodie just continued to giggle and then pushed his butt backwards
into Jim's hand. Jim laughed and went on and finished applying the rest of
the lotion to Rodie's legs then held open his boxers so he could step into
them.

Once Rodie was dressed in his boxers, Jim had Rodie put some lotion
on his face while he opened to door and limped into the kitchen with his
cane. Cathy came in and said she was getting ready to send a search and
rescue party after them. "We had a little bit of a problem, but I think
everything is ok now." He explained to Cathy as he eased down into one of
the chairs. "I know, I heard him crying, and it doesn't take a rocket
scientist to figure out why. Thank you so very much Jim, he really needed
someone like you to confide in. He has been holding it all in, today was
the first time he's cried since his father left." Cathy said with tears
and understanding in her eyes. Before Jim could reply, Rodie came bounding
into the kitchen looking for food. He went over and hugged his mom whom
then said, "I heard you crying in the bathroom honey, are you ok now?" She
asked gently. "Yeah mom, I'm ok now, Jim made it alright again." Rodie
replied with cheeky grin as he looked towards Jim.

"Well now, I'm famished so let me get out there so I can attend to
my religious duties by offering up a few burgers and dogs as sacrifice to
appease the fire goddess." Jim exclaimed as he stood up with a slight
wince on his face. "You sure you are feeling up to this Jim?" Cathy asked
with concern. "Yeah, I'll be fine Cathy, I'm just stiffening up is all.
I'll be stiff for awhile then I will feel better. Right now I am suffering
more from food deprivation than stiff muscles in my back and legs." He
said while smirking at Rodie who immediately stuck his tongue out at Jim.
Jim lit the grill and then turned and said, "come on surf boy, help a
decrepit old man bring the food out." "What's that mean?" Rodie asked with
a serious look on his face. "Oh honey, let's see...I know, remember that
old bus driver last year who filled in Miss Rose while she was sick?"
Cathy reminded, "you mean old Mr. Sikes who always burped and farted, mom?"
Rodie replied giggling. "Yes honey, he is what decrepit means." "Oh ok,
then I guess Jim isn't decrypted cause he hasn't burped or farted at all
today." Rodie said seriously, while Cathy and Jim both broke into laughter.
"What's so funny?" Rodie demanded with an irritated look. Jim walked over
and bent over leaning on his cane, till his was almost eye level with
Rodie. "It's De-crep-it, surf boy, not decrypted." Jim explained with a
soft look in his face.

As Rodie realized his mistake a slow blush crept up through his
face, and he looked down at his feet with a sheepish smile on his lips.
Jim just pulled him close for a hug and said, "it's ok surf boy, we knew
what you meant to say. And by the way, I'd rather be decrypted instead of
decrepit any day." Jim said with a silly grin on his face. Rodie just
gave him a contented smile and hugged him back. As Jim straightened up
Rodie reached out and took his hand and led him into the kitchen. Cathy
followed and explained, "well, while you boys see to the cooking I will set
the table, if you don't mind telling me where to find everything." "Not at
all, the silverware are in that drawer over there, and since it's just
burgers and dogs we can use the fine china." He said while opening a
cabinet and handing her a stack of paper plates, which elicited another
snort of giggles from his little helper. "Your silly Jim." Rodie told
him. "Aye, me surf boy, that I am, don yea know." Which really looked
silly considering Jim was Hispanic, and got Cathy to laughing at the oddity
of it.

They carried the food out and Jim then went back in and returned
with a Chef's hat and apron. He placed that hat upon Rodie's head,
although it was a little too large for him, then draped the apron over
Rodie's head and tied it loosely in place. "All great chef's need the
right equipment when they are cooking," he explained quietly while handing
Rodie the tongs and spatula. Rodie just beamed at him as Jim carefully
showed Rodie how to grill the burgers and hot dogs. Cathy finished setting
out the plates, utensils, and condiments, and then watched with a curious
look on her face as Jim carefully instructed the young boy, showing him how
to flip the burgers, and explaining how to tell when they were cooked
enough. Watching him with Rodie caused a lump to rise in her throat, which
she quickly surpressed and looked away as she remembered her husband doing
similar things when Rodie was younger. She refused to have any sympathy or
forgiveness for him knowing the pain and hurt he had caused to Rodie and
her. She had just gotten control of her emotions when Rodie announced that
dinner was served as he carried the steaming platter of burgers and hot
dogs with a proud expression on his face. "I cooked them all by myself
mom! Well, Jim helped a little I guess." Rodie exclaimed proudly, "I only
showed you what to do surf boy, you did the rest." Jim explained to Cathy.
"Well let's eat, but first we have to say prayers. Ok ready now, hmmm, I
know 'Dear Lord, bless the bread, and bless the meat, come on all let's
eat!'" Jim crooned with a goofy smile. "Hey, that's not a good prayer."
Rodie protested in between giggles, "I'll do it ok. Ready, "God is
gracious, God is good, now we thank you for this food. By your hands we
are fed, give us Lord our daily bread, Amen'." "Amen." Jim and Cathy
intoned in response.

They talked about various events of the day as they ate while
watching the sun set. After dinner was finished and the dishes cleared
away Jim brought out bowls of Vanilla ice cream topped with fresh fruit,
and whipped topping. After dessert they all proceeded into the kitchen and
washed up the dishes. They spent the next hour and a half sitting on the
sun deck with Cathy inquiring about the local area while Jim explained
where the various places of interest were to her. Like where the Food Lion
grocery store was, the Aquarium and Botanical Gardens, go-kart track, water
slides, the best resturants, and where the best fishing was. It was almost
11 PM and Rodie had dozed off curled up on one of the lounge chairs when
Jim suggested they call it a night. While Cathy carried their clothes and
towels, Jim gently picked up Rodie and carried him to their trailer. Cathy
let him in and showed him where Rodie slept. As Jim carefully lowered
Rodie into his bed, he must have pressed on a tender spot of sunburn
because Rodie woke with a small groan of discomfort. "I'm sorry surf boy,
it's ok, your home now so go back to sleep." Jim said as he started stand
up straight, when suddenly Rodie quickly wrapped his arms around Jim's neck
and hugged him close. "Thanks Jim, today was the best day I've had in a
long time." "Same for me surf boy, it's been one of my best days also, now
go to sleep and I will see you in the morning." Jim replied quietly while
hugging Rodie gently, remembering his sunburn. All of the sudden, Rodie
tilted his head up and kissed Jim on the lips and then rubbed his nose
against Jim's. "I love you Jim, nite." Rodie said with a smile "I love you
too surf boy." Jim said absently because he was caught off guard by
Rodie's sudden peck on his lips. He pulled the sheet up to Rodie's chin
and kissed him on the nose and backed out of the small room, watching as
Rodie drifted off to sleep once more.

He was still a little bewildered when he saw Cathy watching him
with a half smile. "He's a good kid Cathy, you should be proud." Jim said
a little nervously "I am Jim, I am. I want to thank you again for today,
you really set Rodie's mind at ease so he could enjoy himself today. You
know we will be here for just over a month, then I have to return home
right after the 4th and check up on things, but then we will be back for
the rest of the summer." Cathy explained as she and Jim stepped outside so
as not to disturb Rodie. "Well most of the time the visitors come and go
so fast that I have no time to meet and get to know them. However, with
you being here all summer, I know we will enjoy each other's company. I
hate to admit it Cathy, but to me it seems we all are becoming fast
friends. And I've never met your ex husband, but I can't help the anger I
feel when I see the hurt in your son's face." Jim told Cathy. "I can't
explain really why I feel this way but I do." "I understand Jim, cause I
can see how your face gets flushed looking when Rodie mentions his father.
However, I disagree with you about becoming fast friends because I think we
already are thanks to Rodie. It's just that I feel so comfortable around
you for some reason." Cathy replied as they slowly walked back to Jim's
house.

"Can I expect both of you for breakfast in the morning?" Jim asked
as they reached his steps leading up to his sundeck. "Only if you let me
prepare breakfast this time, Jim." Cathy responded smiling. "It's a deal,
because I will probably be as stiff as a slab of Granite in the morning.
So should I expect you say, around 8 AM for coffee then?" "That will be
perfect Jim, thank you again and you sleep well, I'll see you in the
morning. Goodnight." Cathy said with a smile and gave Jim a chaste hug
before turning and heading back to the trailer and closing the door. Jim
thought about the events of the day and Rodie's sudden kiss a few moments
ago as he slowly climbed stairs. He had a warm feeling inside he had not
had in many years, too many years he thought. As he reached the top of his
stairs to the deck, he looked up at the starry sky for a long while before
going inside and thinking of the beautiful young boy who had just burst
into his life. Not realizing everything that was happening to him, Jim
went around securing the lights and doors before going to bed for the night
while looking forward to not just tomorrow, but the months of summer to
come.

More to come...
