Rodie's Love: Chapter 9

By Snwdemon

It was light when Jim woke up, and noticed Rodie and Brutis were
gone. Looking at the digital alarm clock on the table beside him, Jim saw
that it was just past 7am. He sat up carefully stretching out all of his
knotted muscles before standing and limping into the bathroom. Jim just
finished peeing when Rodie wandered into the bathroom wearing the light
blue terry cloth robe Jim had let him use the previous day. Rodie walked
over to him and hugged him before removing the robe and hanging it on the
peg. Jim sensed what Rodie needed to do, so he kissed him on the forehead
and turned on the fan as he closed the door on his way out. He took his
medicine and lay back down while he waited for Rodie to finish his
business. After about 10 minutes, Rodie's thought intruded into his mind.

"Jim, I really need to go but I can't, and it is making my stomach
hurt really bad." Rodie said silently.

"Ok, just hold on a moment, I need to speak to you mom first before
I give you something," Jim thought back to him. He got up, and had put on
his robe when Rodie answered him. Jim figured that Rodie's discomfort
overrode his shyness about talking to his mother about his problem.

"Ok Jim, if you think so, just hurry please," Rodie thought to him
while Jim sensed his discomfort. Jim left the room and knocked on Cathy's
door.

"It is open, come on in," Cathy said from inside the room. Jim
opened the door and saw Cathy seated at the dressing table brushing her
hair.

"Cathy, we have a slight problem, the medication we have given
Rodie had made him constipated. He is really cramped up right now, but I
wanted to ask you first before I gave him anything," Jim explained to her.

"Oh that is not all the medications fault Jim. The doctor said
that his stress has caused ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome. What was
it you were going to give him," Cathy asked him.

"I was going to use a couple of glycerin suppositories on him.
They always work for me when my medication constipates me," Jim explained
to her.

"Oh that is ok then, I usually give him an enema if it is real bad,
otherwise I just give him stool softener," Cathy answered.

"Ok, it will take a little while for it to work, so if you would
have someone bring us some coffee I would appreciate it." Jim told her as
he left and going back into his room closing the door. Jim went over and
knocked on the bathroom door before saying "it's me" and opening the door.
He saw the pained expression on Rodie's small face as he sat on the toilet.
"Come and lay down on your stomach in the bed Rodie. I will give you
something to make you go ok."

"Ok Jim," Rodie said as he stood up and walked stiffly out into the
bedroom. Jim opened the cabinet above the toilet and grabbed a blue jar
and tube before following Rodie into the bedroom.

"Ok surf boy, just relax now. I am going to put a couple of these
in you, and I want you to hold them in for as long as you can ok?" Jim
explained, showing Rodie the glycerin suppositories as he applied some anal
ease to his fingers. Jim had Rodie put a pillow under his hips so his pert
bottom was raised exposing his small anus. Jim sat on the bed and slowly
started to rub some of the lube around Rodie's pink little anus. He
watched it spasm for a moment until Rodie relaxed as the lube started to
numb the sensations. After a few minutes of gently massaging his little
rosebud, Jim then applied more lube and inserted his finger up to the first
knuckle. Rodie whimpered as Jim did this. He then applied a small dab to
one of the suppositories.

"Ok here goes Rodie, just relax now ok," Jim said soothingly
waiting until he saw Rodie nod. He then placed the suppository to Rodie's
tiny hole and gently pushed it inside as far as he could. Rodie tightened
his sphincter automatically as he cried out softly as he felt the invading
object being pushed inside him. Jim quickly removed his finger, dabbed
more lube onto a second suppository, and inserted it too. He then wiped
the excess lube off Rodie's anus and gently pressed his firm butt cheeks
together. "All done Rodie, now just relax for a few minutes and hold them
inside ok," Jim said softly to Rodie. He then got up and washed his hands
after placing the jar and tube back in the cabinet. He heard a soft knock
at the door and was just about to speak when Cathy opened the door a little
and announced it was she. She came in and closed the door, while carrying
two mugs of coffee that she set down on the table beside the bed. She then
sat on the bed next to Rodie lightly running her and down his bare back.

"How are you feeling honey?" She asked him.

"My stomach is hurting really bad mommy, and I can't go. I tried
but it would not come out, I should have told you yesterday but I was
embarrassed to," Rodie said as he started to cry. Cathy leaned over and
hugged his bare shoulders while kissing his head.

"It is ok honey, there is no need to cry. You can ask Jim, he has
the same problem also from his medication," Cathy said soothingly as she
comforted him while gently brushing away his tears.

"He does?" Rodie asked as he looked over at Jim. Jim came and sat
on the opposite side of the bed.

"All the time my love, that is why I have those suppositories in
there. You will have to do the same thing to me next time it happens, fair
is fair right," Jim explained then smiling at Rodie as he wiped away his
tears.

"Me? I do not think so, mommy can do it but not me. Um, how long
do I have to hold these in Jim?" Rodie asked him sniffling once until
Cathy wiped his nose with some tissues. Cathy continued to gently caress
his bare back.

"Well they have probably dissolved by now, it has been over 10
minutes now, and it usually don't take long for them to melt. So now when
you really have the urge then you can go. Just remember that you probably
will not have much time when you get that urge, that is why I did not let
you get dressed. Once you are done I'll run you a hot bath, that will make
you feel better ok my love." Jim told him gently.

"Here honey, drink your coffee, that will help a little I think. I
would like to ask you a question though," Cathy said as she handed him his
coffee cup. Rodie took a long drink before looking at her.

"Sure mom, what is it?" He asked. Jim noticed that Rodie switched
between calling her mom and mommy depending on how he felt at the
particular time. If he was happy and comfortable then he used mom, but if
he was sad, unsure, hurt, or scared he used mommy. Jim figured that it was
just him being a typical boy, who wanted to act grown up sometimes, but yet
still needed his mothers love and the security she offered.

"Well dear, I was just wondering about your lack of modesty these
last few days. Before you met Jim, the only way I would ever see you
undressed is if you were dead or dying. Now it doesn't seem to matter now,
is there a specific reason for the change?" Cathy asked him in a soft
voice that reassured while also questioning.

"Um, well I think Eddie said it best mom. When I bumped into him
yesterday in the pool, I started to cover myself. He told me in here that
no matter what I look like on the outside, you all will still love me cause
of what is in the inside here." Rodie explained first pointing to his head
then pointing to his heart. Jim listened to what Rodie said to Cathy, and
he remembered how Eddie easily fooled people with his demeanor. Most would
think of him and frivolous, self centered, and petty. However, Jim knew
that in reality Eddie was one of the most thoughtful, caring, and
insightful person he had ever known.

"Well he is right Rodie, no matter what you look like on the
outside, it is your heart and soul that is the real beauty that everyone
sees in you. You have grown so much inside this last week, and I want to
talk to you later once we get to our home about something. No, do not try
to read it from me because I will not let you do that. I am just letting
you know that we need to talk ok. Now if you like I will leave you alone
with Jim," Cathy explained in a way that only a mother could. She said it
in a tone that implied that this was not open to discussion.

"It is ok mommy, I like it when you are with me like now. I feel
so safe with you, you know. I love you," Rodie said as he leaned his head
down onto her lap while she ran her fingers through his hair.

"I love you too, you will always be my baby, no matter how big you
get," Cathy told him. She leaned over and kissed his forehead before
continuing to stroke his hair. After another ten minutes or so, Rodie
lifted his head and looked at her.

"I go to go mom," he said quickly in a piping voice. Cathy got up
and quickly ushered him into the bathroom closing the door behind her. She
returned a few minutes later alone, and sat on the edge of the bed again.

"Thanks Jim, those suppositories seemed to be working on him. I
have had so many problems this last year with him. This is the first time
in a week that he has needed his stomach medicine. He has ulcers,
irritable bowel syndrome, headaches, nightmares, anxiety attacks, and so
much more. I can see now that you were right when you said all of this was
slowly killing him. I am so glad we met you, that he met you." Cathy told
him with sincerity.

"I know what pain and emotional turmoil can do to someone his age
Cathy. I may have failed Byron, but I will not fail him. I will not sit
idly by and watch him self-destruct as I did with Byron. Even if I had no
feelings for him personally, I would still help him," Jim replied honestly.
Jim got up then and asked Cathy if she would like another cup of coffee,
which she said yes. She handed him hers and Rodie's cup of now cold coffee
while saying she would stay with Rodie until he was ready for a bath. Jim
eased out of the room and headed for the kitchen. He was about to make
them more coffee when he heard a scratching on the back door. He went over
and let Brutis inside who immediately jumped up on him wanting his share of
Jim's love.

"Good morning you hairy beast!" Jim exclaimed as he petted him
while Brutis was doing his best to bath him in drool. "Ok then, so do you
want some food? Are you hungry?" Jim asked him, and when he said hungry
Brutis started to jump around happily. Jim shook his head and went over to
the pantry and pulling out a large can of pedigree dog food. He opened it
and then put it into Brutis's food dish, which Brutis attacked it heartily.
Jim finished making them new coffee and headed back towards the bedroom.
He ran into Marco and Eddie as they came out of their bedroom dressed in
robes and slippers.

"Good morning Bro," Eddie said to him while giving Jim a quick hug
while being careful not to spill the coffee.

"Good morning Jim," Marco told him.

"Good Morning to you two, there is fresh coffee in the kitchen, but
it will be awhile before we join you," Jim explained to them. "Rodie is
not feeling too well this morning, his stomach is giving him problems.
Cathy and I are with him right now."

"Ok bro, I hope everything is ok with him. I can always call Doc
Wise if he needs to see someone," Eddie told Jim sincerely.

"No I believe we have everything under control, thanks anyway
Eddie," Jim told him as he moved past them. He then knocked on his door
and Cathy opened it to let him inside the room. Jim handed her a cup of
coffee while he sat his and Rodie's cup down. He reached into his pocket,
pulled a coffee mug warming plate, and set it down then putting Rodie's
coffee on it. He then plugged it in and turned it on. "This will keep his
coffee hot for when he finishes," Jim explained to Cathy. They had moved
away from the bed to the two easy chairs with a table in between them. Jim
quickly pulled the chair over by his dresser to the table for Rodie once he
was able to join them.

"I know Rodie isn't listening Jim, so I want to ask you about what
I want to do when we get home. Now I do not want to do this for myself,
but I really think it is for Rodie's best interests. Once we get back, I
want to file charges against Paul. I know Rodie loves him, but I believe
that it will help him recover if he knows his father is being punished for
what he did to him. Rodie has lived with the fear that Paul will come and
do it again to him, and I think by Paul being punished will make Rodie stop
blaming himself for what happened." Cathy explained to Jim with a dead
serious look on her face.

"I think you are right in this Cathy, I know it will take a lot of
courage from Rodie, but I believe it will help heal him also. You are
right about him believing that he has done something that made his father
do this to him. He is so confused about loving his father, hating him for
what he did, and fearing that he will come back and do it again. If you
prosecute Paul, then Rodie will see that it was not his fault. It will
also show him that Paul is being punished for what he did while easing the
fear that he could come and do it again. You know that Rodie will resist
this at first, don't you?" Jim said first in a serious tone before
switching to a questioning one.

"Yes I know, but if it was just myself, I may not be able to get
him to agree. However, with both of us I think he will agree that this is
what needs to be done. I will not be able to sell my house if we do this
also. Because we will need it until Paul is sentenced," Cathy answered him
then she sat sipping her coffee while thinking.

"That is fine Cathy, look do not worry about any financial
problems. Oh that reminds me, here this is for you," Jim got up and went
over to his desk and returned handing a credit card to Cathy. "It is in
your name only, and there is a $250,000.00 limit on it. Do not tell me
that it is not necessary, because I know it is. Rodie still needs a lot of
medical care as well as what you both will need to live on. Did you know
that Rodie has trouble peeing now? I think Paul cut his urethra tube and
that it did not heal correctly Cathy," Jim explained to her and stopping
her attempt to protest.

"I want to thank you again Jim, I was not expecting you to do all
of this, you know. I know about the problems that Rodie has when he pees,
but the doctor said there was nothing he could do. I see you think
otherwise though," Cathy said to him.

"Well for one thing, that doctor is wrong. I just do not think he
realized that the bite wound cut through the tube, and he is only saying
now that nothing can be done now just to protect himself from a lawsuit. I
think we should delay leaving for another day so Rodie is feeling better.
I also would like to speak with Doc Wise today and have you sign a release
for Rodie's medical records. This way he can become familiar with his
history, and I believe he can fix the problems Rodie has when he pees as
well as any other problems he may have." Jim answered her.

"I think that would be best Jim, Rodie is usually cramped up most
of the day when this happens. You may be right also about his problem, you
should have seen his penis right after the attack. Paul almost bit the
head of it off, and the doctor was very concerned about infection. He even
discussed what might have to be done if it did not heal. However, it never
got to that point where I had to decide if he should get reconstruction of
his penis or gender reassignment. Rodie does not know this, but his
testicles were severely damaged. The doctors said he may be sterile, and
he may not even grow normally now. He has a very good chance that he will
stay about the same size he is now and will not go through puberty. How
could have Paul done that to him, it was horrific to see the damage he
caused to Rodie's genitals." Cathy explained as she choked up and wiped a
tear from her eye.

"I know Cathy, Rodie told me about it. That is why I really think
he should see Doctor Wise once we get back. He is one of the leading
pediatricians on the East Coast. If anyone can help Rodie recover and
develop normally, he is the one to do it." Jim told her gently. Just
then, Rodie called for them, so they hurried over to see what he needed.

"It still hurts mommy, but I can't go anymore," Rodie told her
while still sitting on the toilet but doubled over.

"That is ok honey, lets get you cleaned up and then you can take
your medicine and lay back down." Cathy told him while she knelt beside
him and embraced him.

"Mommy, my hinny hurts too now," Rodie said in a pitiful voice as
he leaned against her. Jim could see the pain in his face from his
discomfort.

"I think a nice warm bath will help that my love, so lets get you
cleaned up and into the tub." Jim said to him as he stepped past him and
reached for the water handles in the tub. Cathy helped clean Rodie up as
Jim filled the tub with very warm water. He then added some Epsom Salts to
the water, letting it dissolve thoroughly. Once it was filled he gently
lifted Rodie up and set him into the tub. He then told Cathy that he was
going to get dressed while she stayed with him as Rodie leaned back and
relaxed. Jim went over to his dresser and put on a clean pair of boxer
briefs before moving over to his closet. He took out a pair of khaki
Levi's Dockers, and a polo shirt then sat in one of the chairs by the small
table. He pulled on his knee brace before dressing, then added his soft
lumbar back brace. Once he had that adjusted correctly he pulled on the
polo shirt and brushed his hair quickly. Jim went back into the bathroom
where Cathy sat beside the tub where Rodie soaked.

"How you feel surf boy?" He asked Rodie who just smiled weakly at
him. "Why don't you go get changed Cathy while I stay with him now," Jim
offered. Cathy leaned over and kissed Rodie's forehead before she stood up
and left the bathroom. Jim moved over and eased himself down to the edge
of the tub. "We have decided that you are not feeling to good today so we
are not going. If you are feeling better tomorrow then we will go ok my
love," Jim said as he leaned over and kissed Rodie's head. Rodie tilted
his head up and kissed Jim on the lips before relaxing again in the water.

"Ok, I'm sorry I am causing so many problems Jim," Rodie said as he
looked away.

"No love, you are not causing any problems, nothing you do is ever
a problem. We just want you to get better is all right now. If it takes
all summer then your house will just wait. Your mom can always go there
and get what you need and bring it back here. Later today, Cathy and I are
going to go see Doc Wise that I told you about and he should be able to fix
the problems you still have. Right now, I just want you to rest so you
will feel better," Jim said to him putting all of his love and caring into
those words. Rodie turned his head towards Jim again and kissed him once
more with a look of gratitude on his small face. Jim let him soak for
another ten minutes until Cathy returned. Then they helped Rodie out of
the tub, dried him and put him back into the bed. Cathy gave Rodie his
medications, including a Xanax to help him rest. She then told him that he
would take the Ambien to make him sleep deeply that night. Rodie nodded
his head a little as he lay there when he heard a scratching at the door
and a soft whimper. Jim went and let Brutis in where he jumped up and
settled down beside Rodie.

After another 10 minutes Rodie had slipped back into sleep again,
so they kissed him on the forehead and eased out of the room. They then
joined Eddie and Marco in the living room.

"How is Rodie feeling now Cathy?" Eddie asked with concern while
Marco echoed his feelings.

"He is a little better, he is sleeping right now. I am afraid that
when he gets like this, he is usually in bed for the rest of the day.
Sometimes for the next day also. Therefore, it looks like we are not going
anywhere today and maybe not tomorrow unless he is feeling better." Cathy
told them both.

"I know he is in much discomfort right now Cathy, I can sense how
his stomach feels like it is in knots right now. Is it always this bad
with him?" Marco asked her.

"Most of the time no, and this last week he has been so much better
than normal, almost like his normal self. That is why I am worried about
his sudden condition," Cathy replied as they sat down again. "Now listen
up, Jim and I have decided to do something, but you can not tell Rodie just
yet. When we get back to my house, I am going to press charges against
Rodie's father, Paul. This means I will not be able to move out or sell my
house, but Jim told me not to worry about it. We both believe this will be
the best route to help Rodie recover," Cathy explained to Eddie and Marco.

"Wonderful Cathy, you just saved us from spending a long time in
prison because we both were going to go castrate him if you did not do
this." Marco answered while Eddie nodded in agreement. "We all should
just slow down now and take as much time as needed to help Rodie through
this."

"You are serious about that aren't you two? Well no matter, right
now we need to concentrate on Rodie's health. Jim and I are going to see
Doctor Wise and send for his medical records today. Could you keep an eye
on Rodie while we are gone?" Cathy asked them.

"Of course Cathy, anything for him," Eddie answered her.

"I know a recipe my mother had for a soup. She used to make it for
us when we were sick with a stomach virus, I will make some for Rodie."
Marco told her. "In the mean time, would either of you like another cup of
coffee?" He asked them.

"Yes, we both would love one Marco, what about you Eddie?" Jim
asked his friend, who nodded and got up and followed Marco into the
kitchen. They both returned in a few minutes, each carrying two cups of
coffee. They sat there and chatted for almost an hour when they heard
Brutis barking. It was a "Woof, woo woo woo," kind of bark typical of his
breed.

"He must want out, but he is going to wake Rodie with all of that
racket he is making," Jim said as he stood up. Just then, both Cathy and
Marco looked at each other with a worried expression on their faces.

"Something is wrong with Rodie Jim," Cathy said with an urgent
voice as they all stood up and started to move. Jim was already moving
though, and he ran while ignoring the pain in his back and legs. As soon
as he opened the door Brutis started whimpering as he sniffed and licked
Rodie's face. Rodie was laying uncovered in a fetal position, and his hair
was wet from perspiration. Jim rushed over to the bed and touched Rodie's
forehead just as the others came into the room.

"Jesus Cathy, he is burning up with fever," Jim told her as she
knelt beside him and placed her hand on Rodie's forehead. "Come on my
love, wake up now. Can you hear me Rodie?" Jim asked him aloud as well as
sending the same thought to him.

"It hurts Jim, it hurts really bad now, and I'm so hot." Rodie
whimpered in just barely a whisper.

"I know love, don't try and talk right now. Just think to us right
now, save your strength. Now where does it hurt my love?" Jim asked him
soothingly.

"My side hurts, and my stomach too," Rodie thought to them all. He
also unconsciously connected with all of them so they could feel everything
he was feeling. Jim recognized it immediately, and he gently unfolded
Rodie's body and rolled him onto his back. Rodie was too delirious now
from the pain and fever to worry about his nakedness. Jim placed his hand
on Rodie's belly just above his right hip and gently pressed inward. Rodie
cried out in pain, as Jim did this, making him stop. Jim looked at Cathy
with a grave expression on his face.

"Cathy, I am not sure but either his appendix has ruptured or is
very close to doing so. We need to get him to the hospital now. Eddie get
on the phone and call Doctor Wise, tell him this is an emergency and that I
will pay him what ever he wants but have him meet us in the emergency room.
Marco use that telephone there and call 911, and get an ambulance here now.
Cathy let's get some clothes on him, just boxers and a T-shirt will do,"
Jim said taking charge of the situation. When an emergency comes up Jim
just slips into his automatic mode of not thinking, but doing while relying
on his instincts. Cathy, Eddie, and Marco jumped to their tasks
immediately while Jim stayed by Rodie's side reassuring him that everything
would be fine. He went into the bathroom and returned with the first aid
kit. He took out the instant cold pack breaking the seal and causing the
chemicals to mix.

The pack became cold quickly and he placed it on Rodie's forehead
as Cathy came in with a pair of 'Scooby Doo' cotton boxers and a plain
white T-shirt. She slipped the boxers up Rodie's legs and Jim gently
lifted his legs, raising his slim hips enough for Cathy to slide them up
past them. He then put the shirt on Rodie being very careful when he moved
him.

"Ambulance will be here in a few minutes, I am going to wait by the
gate to let them in," Marco told them as he grabbed Jim's keys off the
dresser and hurried out of the room. Just then, Eddie came in with the
cordless telephone in his hand, holding it out to Cathy.

"It is Dr. Wise, he wants to talk to you for a moment Cathy," Eddie
explained as she took the telephone from him and put it too her ear.

	"Hello?"

"Cathy, I am Dr. Michael Wise, can you tell me your son's exact
symptoms and any previous stomach conditions he has? I am already on my
way to the emergency room, and just to be safe I have reserved the O.R. for
emergency surgery if needed."

"Yes, thank you Dr. Wise. Rodie has had ulcers in his stomach, and
irritable bowel syndrome since he was assaulted by his father last year.
Right now he has a high fever, and he seems a little disoriented. He says
his stomach and side hurts him, and he cries out if you press on his lower
right side." Cathy explained while Jim was taking Rodie's temperature. As
soon as the thermometer beeped, Jim read 106.7 degrees aloud to Cathy who
repeated it into the telephone. She then looked at Jim and Eddie and said.
"Jim and Eddie, Dr. Wise says to put ice around him, specifically under his
arms, and around his neck and head. He also says to give him some liquid
Tylenol to reduce the fever until they can get him to the hospital. He
will speak to the paramedics as soon as they arrive."

"Eddie start bringing bucketful's of ice will you, and Cathy let me
speak to him for a moment please." Jim said to them as Eddie hurried out
of the room and Cathy handed him the telephone and followed Eddie.
"Dr. Wise, this is Jim Chavez your neighbor. Yes we met last summer on the
fourth's celebration. Listen, I need to know how open minded you are. No,
not like that, I know you have similar tastes as I do in that regard. What
I mean is that Rodie has some very special talents. He is a telepath, as
well as an empath. You are familiar with children like him, good! I
wanted to let you know is all because he might speak to you in your mind
instead of with his voice, and I did not want you to be startled. He also
was severely beaten and raped multiple times by his father, so try and
reassure him that you are not a threat to him since he will know that you
desire boys like I do. I understand, look I owe you one Doc, what ever you
need just let me know. Rodie is very special to me; ok I will see you at
the hospital. The paramedics are here now," Jim said into the telephone
just as he heard the paramedics arriving. As soon as they came into the
room Jim handed the telephone to the man while his female partner moved
over next to Rodie. She helped Jim gently remove his T-shirt and started
putting the electrode patches on his chest while her partner spoke with
Dr. Wise on the telephone.

"Yes sir, possible ruptured appendix is what you think? All right,
I understand completely. Will do sir, see you at the hospital." The man
said before pressing the end button on the telephone and handing it back to
Jim. "Ok the doctor said to start an IV with saline and dextrose. In
addition, run three bags of penicillin if he is not allergic, otherwise run
three bags of Erythromycin. We need to pack him with ice to lower his core
body temperature. Ok Rodie, listen up ok, my name is Derek. I am going to
put a tube down into your throat so we can give you some oxygen. Just try
an relax for me now and it will only take a second ok. Just nod your head
when you are ready for me to do this alright?" He said gently to Rodie who
looked frightened and shook his head 'no'. Jim moved to the other side of
the bed and leaned over taking his small hand in his.

"It is ok Rodie, I am here with you. They are here to help you
because you are very sick right now. Just think of me and close you eyes,
this will be over in just a second ok," Jim said calmly to him as he gently
brushed away a tear that trickled down the side of his face towards his
ear. Rodie looked at Jim and squeezed his hand tightly before nodding
slowly. "Good, now take a real deep breath and open your mouth real wide.
Try not to gag for as long as possible, ok now do it." Jim told him, Rodie
took a deep breath and opened his mouth while relaxing as he let Jim's
awareness in his mind calm him. He gagged slightly as the tongue retractor
was placed in his mouth and the plastic airway tube inserted, and then it
was over. Rodie coughed a little as the oxygen was connected with the
static valve that only pumped oxygen as Rodie breathed in.

The paramedic then gently picked him up into his arms and placed
him onto the gurney, they then packed the bags of ice around his upper body
and head before covering him up and strapping him in. He then left the
room to back the ambulance up to the door. Derek had left Rodie's right
arm free and the female paramedic hung numerous bags onto the IV hanger.

"Ok Rodie, I am Charlene, but you can call me Charlie, you will
feel a little stick ok," she said as she inserted the IV needle into his
arm. Rodie winced when she did, but was ok afterwards. Tears were now
trickling down his face and Cathy moved beside him while Charlene connected
the IV tubes and taped them down to his arm.

"It's ok honey, don't be frightened, they will take good care of
you, and I will see you at the hospital. Ok I will ask them honey," Cathy
told him while wiping his eyes and face before kissing his forehead. Cathy
had seen the questioning look Charlene was giving her as she spoke to
Rodie. "Charlene, Rodie is a telepath, and he can talk to you if you will
let him. He is very scared right now, and he wants to know if Jim or me
can ride with him to the hospital?" Cathy explained to the female
paramedic.

"He is, ok, what do I do to let him do that?" Charlene asked her
looking skeptical.

"Easy, just concentrate on hearing him is all," Cathy told her.

"Alright," She said and looking at Rodie. She flinched a little
when she heard him say, "don't be scared ok" in her mind. "That is
amazing! You are a special one aren't you," She said while smiling at him.

"What's everyone going to do to me Charlie?" Rodie asked her
silently.

"Don't worry darling, we are going to take you to the hospital
where Dr. Wise will make you all better. He will also make your stomach
stop hurting ok. You are very sick right now, so just relax for me. I
know you are frightened right now, but do not worry because I won't let
anyone hurt you. If you are hurting or feel bad tell me so I can help
alright, and Jim will come with us also," she said gently in a caring
voice. Jim quickly put on his socks and shoes, and he grabbed his wallet,
watch, pill case, and his cane before moving over next to Rodie. "Is he
allergic to penicillin?" She asked Cathy as she wrote on her clipboard.

"No he is not, his only allergies are to Percocet, Naprosyn, and
bees. Fourteen months ago he was sexually assaulted and beaten by his
father and spent three weeks in the hospital. That might explain his fear
of hospitals that he has. Also, please do not make an issue about his
abilities, he has enough problems to deal with already," Cathy explained to
her. The paramedic nodded in agreement to her, and connected the IV bags.
She turned on the monitoring equipment then continued writing the readings
onto the clipboard. Just then, her partner Derek came in letting her know
they were ready to go. Jim, Cathy, and Marco followed them out as they
wheeled Rodie to the ambulance and put him inside. Cathy said that Marco
and Eddie would follow her and the ambulance to the hospital before Jim
climbed up and sat beside Rodie's head.

As Derek drove to the hospital with the lights and siren going,
Rodie's core temperature started to drop down as the antibiotics and the
ice worked. He started to shiver so Charlene removed some of the ice bags
from around him. It took about 7 minutes to reach the hospital where Jim
followed them inside as they wheeled Rodie into the emergency room.
Dr. Wise met the ambulance at the door and as soon as they had transferred
Rodie into the bed and completed an initial exam, he immediately had them
take him for an ultrasound, x-rays, and CT scan of his abdomen. Cathy,
Eddie, and Marco arrived then and they let Cathy out while they parked.
Once Rodie was taken to the Radiology Dept. Dr. Wise met with Cathy, and
Jim.

"I think his appendix has ruptured, beside the pain and fever, he
is also discharging some blood from his rectum. I just want you to fill me
in on his medical history as well as this rape and assault on him. This
way I will know what I need to do to treat him sufficiently. I also would
like his medical records, so if you will sign a release I can have them
faxed here." Dr. Wise explained to them, as he ushered them into a staff
break room, and had them sit down. Cathy filled him in on Rodie's injuries
and medical problems as well as his medical history. Jim also told him
about the problems that Rodie had now when he peed. Dr. Wise listened
carefully, then had Cathy sign the release form just as Rodie was brought
back into the emergency room.

Dr. Wise examined the x-rays, CT scan, and ultrasound results
confirming that Rodie's appendix had ruptured. He told Cathy that he would
have to operate immediately. Then he would consider more surgery once Rodie
was past this crisis. They all walked over to Rodie's bed where he looked
scared laying there.

"Listen my love, your appendix burst, and the doctor has to operate
on you to make you better. They are going to come and give you a shot in a
few minutes and it will make you go to sleep. When you wake up you will
hurt but it will be all better. I will be here with you until you wake up
my love, so will your mom too." Jim explained carefully to Rodie as he sat
beside him holding his hand. Jim saw Dr. Wise's eyes widen when he heard
Rodie's silent response.

"Am I going to die Jim? I'm so scared right now," Rodie asked him
silently as tears streamed down the sides of his face. Dr. Wise stepped
closer and answered for Jim.

"No young man, you are not going to die, I promise you that. I am
going to fix everything so you will be as good as new, so look at me, and
see for your self. Because I am going to need you to trust me bright
eyes," he said with a gentle smile as he brushed that stray lock of hair
out of his face. Rodie looked into his eyes reading his thoughts for a
moment before he visibly relaxed.

"You called me bright eyes, what did you mean?" Rodie asked
silently to him.

"Because you have the most beautiful eyes Rodie, that is what
everyone sees first when they look at you." He answered aloud to him.
Rodie relaxed more and even blushed a little at the compliment. "Ok bright
eyes, it's is time for you to take a little nap now." He said as a nurse
came in and handed a syringe to Dr. Wise. He inserted it into the port in
his IV tube and slowly injected it.

"I love you, and I will be here when you wake up," Jim thought to
Rodie as he watched his eyes turn glassy before closing as he drifted off
to sleep.

"I also had them add a dose of Valium to calm him down a little
Cathy," Dr. Wise explained once Rodie was asleep. He then told her to
undress Rodie completely since he would have to inset a Foley tube into his
bladder before he left to prepare for the surgery. Cathy had Jim gently
lift Rodie's hips again as she removed his boxers. They both saw the
bloody spot on the back of his boxers that Dr. Wise had told them about.
She then covered him up with the sheet and blanket and kissed him on his
forehead as they came to take him to surgery. Jim led Cathy out to the
waiting room where they met up with Eddie and Marco. Jim said that it
would be a few hours, so Eddie and Marco left to get them some coffee and
doughnuts while Jim and Cathy headed to the surgical waiting area. Eddie
and Marco returned after 30 minutes with a large thermos of coffee and a
box of doughnuts that they all shared while they waited. Jim started to
worry after three hours had passed, when a nurse came out and spoke to
them.

"Rodie is fine, but Dr. Wise wanted to let you know that there has
been a complication. Rodie did fine with the appendectomy, but Dr. Wise
had to call in Dr. Randall because he could not get the Foley tube in.
Dr. Randall is repairing Rodie's urethra right now because it was almost
completely blocked by scar tissue. They should be done in about 30
minutes, and then Rodie will be in recovery for an hour and a half before
moving him into a private room in the pediatric ward. Once he is in
recovery, all of you can come back and stay with him so he will not be
frightened when he wakes up. He will be in some pain when he wakes up but
Dr. Wise has ordered a morphine pump for him. It will allow him to self
medicate himself when he is in pain by just pushing a button." She
explained to them all.

"Thank you for letting us know, I was so worried about him because
it was taking so long. Was it very bad where his appendix burst?" Cathy
asked her while being visibly relieved also.

"Yes it was, Dr. Wise had to give Rodie a pint of blood because he
was hemorrhaging where his appendix burst. If you had not discovered it so
quickly, he could have been in a much worse condition." She explained to
Cathy.

"Who is Dr. Randall, if I may ask," Jim inquired.

"Dr. Randall specializes in pediatric internal medicine and
Urology," she said to Jim.

"Thank you again for letting us know, will you come and get us when
we are allowed to go in to see him," Jim asked her politely.

"Of course, Mr. Chavez, as soon as we are able we will come and get
you." She told them with a polite smile. She then turned and walked back
into the surgical center. They all resumed their seats but were all
relieved now that they knew Rodie was all right.

"Thank God he is going to be ok," Cathy said as she wiped her eyes.
Jim had seen the worry on her face while they all waited to hear something.
She then looked at them with rage in her eyes. "And now he won't have
anymore problems when he pees also. I think I might just take you up on
your idea Eddie, but while you get his balls, I want his heart!"

"No Cathy, you need to follow through and prosecute him. He needs
to be punished, and Rodie needs to see that Paul is punished for what he
did to him. Only then will Rodie be able to put this behind him and heal
those wounds that are still open in him." Eddie told her gently. "Once
Rodie is well enough to go home, I want you and me to go to your house and
bring everything you will need here. That way we can wait until Rodie is
recovered before deciding what to do with your furniture and house."

"Your right Eddie, you always are in situations like this. You
know, if you did not love Marco; I would ask you to marry me. You are
everything I would like in a husband," Cathy said with a light laugh.
Eddie blushed a little as he laughed along with her. "Jim, will you and
Marco be able to manage with Rodie while we are gone?"

"Of course we can, you just get your affairs straight and bring
what you need. We will be fine until you get back," Jim answered while
Marco agreed. Just then the nurse came out and told them that Rodie was in
recovery and they could go back now. Cathy and Jim followed her to where
Rodie was sleeping in his bed. His face was a little puffy from the
anesthesia, and he was a little pale looking. Cathy brushed the stray lock
of hair out of his face and kissed his forehead. Jim did the same also
then Dr. Wise joined them still dressed in his scrubs followed by a younger
doctor.

"Hello again, he did just fine, he was bleeding some inside and I
gave him a pint of blood but otherwise the surgery went really well.
Dr. Randall here came in and fixed Rodie's urethra. I was not able to get
the Foley tube in because it was almost completely blocked. I was
surprised it did not cause him much more discomfort than you said,"
Dr. Wise explained to Cathy and Jim. He then indicated the younger doctor
behind him.

"Hi, I am Dr. Randall. I was able to fix Rodie's urethra so he
should not have any more problems in the future when he urinates," He
explained as he shook hands with Jim and Cathy. He then pulled the curtain
closed then uncovered Rodie exposing his small penis, which was swollen,
and red. "It will take about two weeks for it to heal, so he will need to
keep the Foley tube for that long. I have to admit; I have never seen such
damage of this nature to a child's genitals before. Just from my initial
examination, I can see he suffered severe trauma to his pubis area, penis,
and testicles. I also saw the scarring around his anus, but I do not think
that will cause him problems later. I would like to see him once he is
recovered for some testing. I will be able to tell you more what to expect
as he gets older. As for now, I want you to keep the area clean, and apply
Betadine solution to it, if it looks like it is becoming irritated or
infected bring him in to see me immediately." He explained while pointing
out the different areas as he spoke. He then covered Rodie up again, and
gently tucked the blanket in on his sides. Cathy thanked both of them for
doing a wonderful job, and they left. Jim and Cathy then sat on opposite
sides of Rodie's bed. After about fifteen minutes had past Rodie began to
wake.

	"Mommy" Rodie mumbled weakly.

"I'm here honey, so is Jim. It is all over now, and you will be
fine in a few days." Cathy said quietly to him as she kissed his face.

"I am here to my love, it is ok now, so just rest so you can get
well," Jim whispered to him while gently squeezing his hand. Rodie's eyes
were still puffy so he could not open them very much. However, he did
wince in pain and start to cry again softly.

"It hurts mommy, my pee-pee hurts bad," Rodie said in a hoarse
voice.

"I know it does baby, but the doctor fixed it, so now you will not
have any more problems or pain when you pee from now on. Hold on and I
will ask the nurse if she can give you something for the pain," Cathy said
as she kissed him before standing up and looking for the nurse.

"It will be alright my love. Your mother is right; the doctor
fixed it so it will not hurt anymore. Once your mother gets back, I will
go get Eddie and Marco so they can come and see you ok. We have all be
worried about you surf boy," Jim said softly to him as he wiped away his
tears and kissed his nose. The nurse came in and turned on the morphine
pump. She then programmed it, and put the button into Rodie's hand telling
him to push the button until the pain started to go away. Rodie pushed it
3 times before the pain eased off. His face relaxed and he was able to
open his eyes more, and was more alert now. The nurse explained to them
all that this machine was perfectly safe and would not allow Rodie to
overdose by accident while still being able to relieve his pain, as he
needed it. She then told them that they were preparing his room and he
should be taken up in about 30 minutes.

Jim kissed Rodie again the limped out to the waiting room and
signaled for Eddie and Marco to come in and see him. Eddie leaned over and
kissed Rodie on the forehead before speaking.

"Hiya surf boy, you scared the hell out of all of us you know.
Moreover, poor Brutis almost had a coronary this morning. You have to
hurry up and get better so he can see that you are ok now. Are you in a
lot of pain right now," Eddie asked him as he smiled. Rodie shook his head
'no' and smiled back as more tears slipped down his face. "It is ok Rodie,
so don't cry. You know it is awful embarrassing for a grown man like me to
be crying in public, so don't cry ok. Because if you do, then so will I."

"I'm just so happy to see all of you is all. You all love me so
much, and I have never felt this before. It was always been just mommy
before, but now I have all of you guys too. I love you all so much that I
can't help crying, but these are happy tears," Rodie thought to all of them
as he continued to cry and smile at them. Eddie brushed away his tears
before answering him.

"Well get used to it Rodie, because we all love you very much, and
many more will also. You just concentrate on getting well right now so you
can come home. I will take care of Brutis until you get home," Eddie said
softly to him before straightening out again. Marco told Rodie to hurry up
and get well, and then he kissed him on the forehead before politely
excusing himself. Jim, Eddie, and Marco went back out into the waiting
room.

"They are going to be taking him up into his room soon, would you
do me a favor and bring me a few of my pillows because I will probably stay
the night with him." Jim explained to them, and Eddie agreed to do as he
asked. Eddie and Marco left and Jim returned to Rodie's bed just as they
were getting ready to move him up to his room. Cathy and Jim followed the
nurse as she made her way with him to his room.

"There is an extra bed in his room, and I can have a rollaway bed
brought in also. The doctor has said that he can have juices, and broth
and Jell-O for now. Once we get him situated, we have some pajamas that
snap down the legs that he can wear, and if you want you can give him a
sponge bath as long as you avoid his incisions." She explained to them as
she maneuvered his bed into the room and setup the equipment. She then
left and returned a few minutes later with a pair of boy's pajamas, and a
plastic basin, sponge, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and hairbrush. Cathy
filled the basin with warm water and carefully washed Rodie's body, she
then dried him and Jim helped her dress him in the pajamas. Rodie saw the
Foley tube, and his swollen penis. Cathy explained to him what the doctor
had found and did to fix his problem. Once she was finished Rodie pressed
his button a couple of times and drifted off back to sleep. The staff
brought in the rollaway bed along with extra blankets for them both.

Eddie returned a little while later with a change of clothes for
Jim and Cathy as well as the pillows. They talked quietly for a little
while as Cathy explained what Dr. Randall had done to repair Rodie's
urethra. Rodie woke once in pain but Jim told him to push his button and
he drifted off to sleep again. The nurse came in and hung another bag of
antibiotics then checked Rodie's urine bag, writing down the amount before
emptying it. Jim explained to Cathy and Eddie that the kidneys are the
last organs to wake up from surgery, so that is why they measure how much
the kidneys are producing. Eddie then suggested that him and Cathy go get
something to eat and then come and relieve Jim so he could go eat. She
agreed, and checked on Rodie once more before kissing him and leaving with
Eddie. They had only been gone for fifteen minutes when Rodie woke again.

"What do you need my love," Jim asked him.

"My throat is dry Jim, and it hurts, can I have so water please,"
Rodie croaked in a soft scratchy voice. Jim rang for the nurse who came in
immediately. Jim relayed Rodie's request to her.

"Oh yes you can, you can have water, or juice, what would you
like?" She asked him as he tried to answer her but his voice was just
barely above a whisper.

"Apple juice or white grape juice," he said to her. She went and
got him two containers of each kind, carefully sticking a straw through the
foil lid and bending it before holding it up to Rodie's lips. Rodie took a
few swallows before stopping, and she sat it on the table across his bed.
She told Jim that if he felt like eating some that she could get him some
broth before she left to answer another patient call. Jim was sitting
beside his bed and Rodie slowly scooted closer to him with much pain
involved. Jim admonished him for that, telling him that next time he
should ask and he would move him. Rodie leaned his head over and rested it
on Jim's shoulder. He seemed to relax more now that he was making physical
contact with Jim and he drifted off to sleep again. Jim stayed there
occasionally kissing his forehead as he spoke softly to him.

Cathy and Eddie returned and told him that they had brought him a
steak sub but left it at the nurse's station. Jim informed them of what
Rodie could have as he stood slowly trying to work out the knots and cramps
in his spine and legs while leaning heavily on his cane. He then went out
and retrieved his dinner, taking it into the break room for the nurses.

Jim ate his dinner and took his medication before finally rejoining
Rodie. Eddie said good night to them and kissed Rodie good bye before
leaving. It was dark outside now, the nurse came in, and told Cathy what
the doctor had ordered. She then gave Rodie a shot of Demerol with
Vistaril, she said that it should keep him out of pain and let him sleep
through the night. She woke him up and explained what she was going to do
and told him that she had to give the shot to him in his leg muscle. Rodie
slowly nodded and asked Jim to hold his hand as she undid his pajama pants
exposing his thigh. Rodie cried out at first when she stuck the needle in
then just gritted his teeth and squeezed Jim's hand tightly as she injected
the medicine. She closed his pajama pants again and covered him up before
asking how he felt. Rodie told her that he was feeling dizzy as he drifted
off to sleep, this time slipping deeper into slumber. Jim and Cathy then
changed and checked on Rodie before kissing him and going to their beds.
Jim told Cathy good night as he took his pain medication again and adjusted
the hospital bed. He then turned out the lights except the small one above
Rodie's bed before drifting off to sleep himself.
