Running Away - Chapter Five

The next morning Jesse woke up to find the space next to him empty
and jumped up. 'Ah! Too soon! I scared him off' he instantly thought to
himself. Although he had enjoyed last night's venture, he worried if he had
made his affections a little too obvious. Just then a burst of laughter
came from the door to the room. Pausing only for a moment, Jesse sprang out
of the bed and poked his head outside. There sat Oliver laughing as he
watched TV and ate from a plate of waffles. The boy's beautiful smile and
radiant eyes mesmerized Jesse as he watched his newly met companion enjoy
himself. "H-hey" He finally asserted himself, walking into the room. "Good
morning" Oliver replied, nodding a bit shyly. "I uh made you some
breakfast, it should still be hot, only took it out a few seconds ago."
Oliver got up and ran to the kitchen, taking a bigger plate from the
kitchen's island. 'He's so cute the way he jumps a little when he runs.'
Jesse thought, absent-mindedly taking the plate. "Are-umm, are you going to
eat? Do you not like waffles?" Oliver suddenly seemed worried. "Nuh-no.. I
was just wondering about... things." Jesse hurriedly sat down, daring not
to look anymore, as he may have just dropped the plate if he did. "So
today, I was thinking about going to the mall. Would you like to accompany
me?" Jesse blurted out, still daring not to look up from his plate. "Sure"
Olliver replied, noticing his breakfast mate's reluctance.
'God, lets hope the rest of the day isn't that awkward.' Jesse
thought as he shut the door behind him, claiming that he had to brush his
teeth again. "Maybe I should just tell him I love.... I mean like him, love
him?' Jesse sighed, leaning on the door behind him and sinking down to the
floor. He was so confused as to what he wanted and what he thought he
should do. "Jesse? You've been in there for a while." Oliver called into
the bathroom, waking Jesse from his wondering trance. "Uh be out in a
minute!" Jesse yelled back, springing to his feet to turn on the sink.
"You'll figure it out." He told himself in his mirror.
After a quiet ride to the mall, Jesse finally worked up the nerve
to grab hold of Oliver's hand and pull him to one of the nearby stores. "I
like this one." He said, picking up a simple white polo. "I-its nice"
Oliver nodded. "Ollie, try this on" Jesse called back absently as he held
out the shirt. A few seconds later, he realized Oliver wasn't moving. He
turned and looked at him. "Oh! Oliver, I'm sorry I just.." He stuttered.
"No, it's okay, I was just um, I like Ollie." The petite blond smiled shyly
and took the shirt, running into the dressing room. The moment he came out
Jesse stood starstruck. He smiled as his new found obsession walked towards
him. "H-how is it?" "It's perfect, try on these shorts.. oh and these
sandals are nice too." Jesse kept putting things into the dressing room.
Again, after a few moments, Oliver walked out, decked completely in white,
feeling a little uneasy. "All white?" he asked, a little skeptic. "I think
it makes you look like... an angel." Jesse said, beaming with satisfaction.
The whole time they were there he kept his eye out for clothes that would
show-off Oliver's beautiful figure, and slender legs. Finally it came time
to buy the clothes. "I don't have any..." Oliver said, putting all his
clothes he just tried on in a pile. He felt as if he had put on almost a
hundred shirts, and a well over three dozen pairs of jeans and shorts.
Jesse just pretended not to hear him, and rang up his purchase. "Oh, and
I'll take all of that as well, charge." He pointed to the pile of clothes
Oliver was standing next to, and held out his credit card. "If I may ask,
is that your boyfriend?" The saleswoman asked as she rang up the order.
"Um, yeah, I guess he is." Jesse replied, hearing himself say those words
started to feel right. "He looks just like one of my friend's son, Oliver."
Maybe they were twins separated at birth!" she chuckled to herself, bagging
all the clothes. "Could you please have all those delivered to this address
please." Jesse handed a slip of paper with his address. "I'll bring it over
myself, it's on my way home." The saleswoman nodded. "C'mon Ollie." He
said, again clasping the boy's hand in his own. "I bought you this!" Jesse
pulled out a jacket he had snuck into his purchase. It was a beautiful
forest green jacket, complete with white trim. He put it around Oliver's
shoulders. "Oh no! You shouldn't have, I don't have and mon-" Oliver
started. "Shh It's okay." Jesse put his arm around the boy's shoulders and
much to his surprise, Oliver smiled and hugged him. "Thank you." He
smiled. In that one moment, time stood still for the two, and the mall
around them blended together. Slowly, they each leaned forward a little,
and their lips met, embracing them in a kiss. Slowly Oliver opened his
eyes, his heart pounding,. "Uh... I need to go.. there" He stammered,
walking towards the bookstore he pointed to, desperate not to let Jesse
know he was blushing. "Y-yeah, me too, I need to find a... book."
