CHAPTER 1

Sam lay on the soft, white linens, feeling the coolness of the smooth
material against his bare skin.  He glanced over at the clock on the night
stand...7:39 AM.  Slowly, he turned his head and his gaze fell upon the
sleeping body next to him.  Immediately, his mind became a torrent of
conflicting emotions.  He supposed he loved the boy lying next to him.
They had been through a lot together and have grown close since they shared
the small sub-letted studio apartment in the Village.

But Sam's thoughts inevitably turned to his true love, his Luca, thousands
of miles away at this moment.  A smile crept across Sam's face as he
calculated about three days until he would see Luca.  Three days until he
would finally be able to begin his life - the life he was meant to lead
with the soul mate he was meant to lead it with.  He yearned for Luca's
strong embrace and his loving kiss.  Life was safe and secure when he was
with Luca.  Luca completed him in a way that no one else did.

The last time he saw Luca was a month ago, when they were together for
Christmas.  That was when plans were finalized for Sam to finally move in
permanently with Luca.  Sam had worked hard to finish school a semester
early and he and Ethan moved into this apartment to make their work easier.
They were both working as models for multiple photo shoots and runway
events.  For Sam, it was part-time work, until he left to join his love in
Greece.  Ethan, originally from Greece, had moved to New York to pursue a
more rigorous modeling career in America, after building a successful
career in Greece.

Ethan and Sam had met two summers ago when Sam was visiting Greece with
Luca.  Sam immediately developed a deep liking and intense physical
attraction for Ethan, which was mutually returned.  Ironically, Luca had
introduced the two boys, and even made it possible for them to be together
when Ethan came to the States.  Sam had just started doing some modeling
this past fall, at the urging of both Luca and Ethan alike.  Ethan had
introduced Sam to his manager, who arranged some shoots which eventually
led to bigger things.

But Sam was not interested in modeling as a career.  For him it was a
past-time and a source of his own money, until he started school this
summer.  Not that he needed money.  Luca seemed determine to provide
everything for Sam, who still felt uncomfortable being "kept."  But Luca
insisted it was his own selfishness that necessitated it all.  Luca could
not bear to think of being without Sam and, since they currently lived on
opposite sides of the world, this meant a substantial financial investment
on the part of Luca.  While this bothered Sam to some degree, Luca thought
nothing of it.  He was the son of the third richest man in Greece and in
his final term at college in Thesolonika for political science and
diplomacy.  Luca was highly involved in the diplomatic corps for Greece, as
well as handling many of his father's business interested throughout the
country.  Money was not a factor where Luca was concerned.  His biggest
concern was making it possible to be with Sam at every possible opportunity
and to give Sam the tools with which he could pursue a life he desired.

Two summers earlier, Sam and Luca met at a summer camp where Sam worked as
a lifeguard.  Luca was there on an exchange program from Greece.  The
physical attraction was strongly evident from the moment they met, and
shortly thereafter consummated.  But a deeper connection developed almost
immediately and, after four short weeks of a whirlwind romance, the two
believed they were truely soul mates.  Those four weeks had been an
education for Sam.  He had met many new people who were prominent in Luca's
circle.

Sam was just about to turn sixteen when he met Luca.  The two fell in love
almost immediately, but Sam had never been with another man before.  Luca
is almost three years older than Sam and was quite experienced.  Luca was
also extremely confident in who he was and understood Sam's need to figure
out his own self- identity.  Their relationship has been open from the
start.  Luca insisted that they (mostly Sam) be permitted to be with
others.  He very astutely knew that Sam needed to explore his sexuality as
he discovered it or it may get in the way of their relationship.  So Sam
and Luca were far from monogamous.  But through it all, their love and
devotion to each other remained.  Sam, being fairly young, still struggled
with feelings of betrayal, but Luca continually reassured him that he
needed to experience life before committing to just one person and that he
would wait for him.  So, as opportunities presented themselves, Sam did not
decline, even though he did not go searching for sexual adventures.

Luca still remains somewhat of a mystery to Sam.  Sam has divined some
things about his lover over the past year and a half, however, learning
that Luca's family is one of the oldest and most respected families in
Greece.  His father walks with the elite of the Greek social and political
circles.  Luca is extremely bright, having finished high school a full year
early.  And now, less than a semester away from graduating university, he
already has a position in the Greek diplomatic corps upon his graduation
this Spring.

Luca's home is in Athens, where his mother lives full time in one of the
most extravagant residences in the city.  In Thesolanika, where Luca
attends school, he has a flat that he shares with his brother, Leon.  Luca
and Leon manage one of their father's ranches and olive orchard operations
in Volos and a vineyard and winery operation on Vinos, their family's
private island just off the south side of the island of Mykonos, southeast
of Athens in the Aegean Sea.  Sam had visited Greece twice with Luca while
they were at camp.

At the end of that summer, Luca had set everything in motion so that he and
Sam could maintain their extremely long-distance relationship.  It took Sam
a while to realize that Luca was being forward thinking.  When Luca
presented Sam with brand new red Jeep Wrangler Unlimited on his sixteenth
birthday, Sam was a little surprised and felt overwhelmed.  But Sam soon
realized that the means of transportation would be necessary for him to get
to the airport and back to fly to Greece and to pick up Luca when he flew
to America to visit.  They had managed to see each other at least once a
month during the year and a half that followed that summer camp.  The last
time Sam and Luca were together was over Christmas, which Sam spent in
Greece, at the vacation home on Vinos.  They had been joined by Leon; Stam,
a school friend of both Leon and Luca; Dion, a friend of Luca and Ethan who
was Sam's age; and Ethan.  The six of them spent an amazing week lounging
around, riding horses and bikes, swimming, and of course, fucking.

The plan had been for Ethan to travel back the United States with Sam, as
both were going to be modeling in New York.  His manager had also arranged
for some jobs for Sam, so he packed his things at his parents' house, just
after New Years, and moved into the apartment with Ethan.  In a few days,
Sam would pack up again and board the private jet that would take him to
his true love once and for all.
