Chapter 16

I woke up to the sound of my cell phone ringing. I looked at the time it
was 7 am.

"Hello?" I answered. It was my lawyer waking me up as I asked him to.

"Hey John, I'm just down the street." He said.

"Ok, I'll unlock the door for you; I'll be in the shower." I said. I went
downstairs and unlocked the front door, then went back up and got in my
shower. I was still tired, but the shower sure did help to re-energize
me. I didn't take too long in the shower, I had a schedule to keep. I got
out and dried off, went back to my bedroom and got dressed. I put on one of
my good suits, I had a feeling we might be going to the police station
after a while. I went downstairs to my waiting lawyer.

I got to the bottom of the stairs and saw that there was somebody standing
next to my lawyer. I quickly figured out that he was one of the
bodyguards. I've seen some of the guards that my lawyer hired before, but
this one was a new one, and quite the stunner too. He was at least 6 feet
tall and strong looking all over. Blond hair, blue eyes, and if I wasn't
into boys, I'd be dragging him up the stairs right now.

They both must have guessed what I was thinking, because they were both
smiling.

"Sorry, um, I was just expecting Raymond here." I stuttered out and pointed
at my lawyer.

The blond stud smiled more and chuckled. "Don't worry about it. It get that
reaction a lot. But, just so you know, I already have a boyfriend." He said
showing off his perfect teeth.

"That's cool; your boyfriend's a lucky guy. And just so you know, I have a
boyfriend too." I said smiling back at him.

"John, this is Kevin. Till this thing is over, he's going to be with you
from now on." Raymond said.

"Ok." I said. My mind was still trying to catch up with his good looks.

"Um..." My lawyer mumbled. "We better be going." He said. "I've already
called room service at the hotel with the breakfast order. They'll have it
waiting for us when we show up." He explained to me.

"Good, thank you. Just be sure they wait for us to show up first." I said.

We took Raymond's car; after all, I was paying for it. There was the three
of us, plus the car's driver. When we got to the hotel, we pulled into the
basement parking lot and took the elevator straight up to my hotel
suite. There were two bellboys there waiting with our breakfast. We
followed them down to the room. I saw the guard that was watching the
door. I was about to open the door, when Kevin stopped me.

"Let me check out these carts first." Kevin said. He looked underneath them
and pulled the curtains back. He looked back at me and nodded. "They're
ok. Go ahead and open the door." He told me.

I opened the door up and was about to let the bellboys in when Kevin
stopped them. "I'll take care of it from here." He told the boys. He gave
them each a hundred dollar tip. "Let's just keep this between the three of
us." He said after they pocketed the money.

"Oh yes sir!" The first bellboy said smiling widely.

"We understand completely sir, and if you need anything else, please let us
know. I'm Carl and this is my partner Samuel." Carl said. "I'm sure there
is something we can do for you that nobody else can." The young man added
and winked.

"I will call you two first if there is anything I think you will be able to
help us with." Kevin said smiling back at the boys. Kevin gave the boys a
wink back. Oh, if I was only single, he thought just briefly. Then his
thoughts quickly went to his boyfriend. His hot, hot boyfriend who loved
him to death. Kevin smiled even wider when he thought of how much he loved
his boyfriend too.

I pulled one of the carts into the room and Kevin pulled the other one
in. He locked the door behind him. I continued into the living room, with
Kevin following me. When I got there, I saw Brian standing in the middle of
the room. He looked rested, not real rested though. I just hoped he didn't
turn back on his agreement with me.

"Good morning Brian. Did you sleep well?" I asked the boy.

"Sort-of, um, thank you." Brian mumbled. Then I saw his eyes go wide as
soon as Kevin walked in.

"Good, good." I said. "Perhaps we should introduce ourselves. This is
Mr. Patterson; he will be your lawyer. Listen to his advice; he's a very
good lawyer." Raymond shook hands with Brian. "This is Kevin; he's part of
our security." Kevin shook hands with Brian. "And I'm, well, you can call
me John." I said.

"I know who you are now. You live over by the park, and I've also seen you
on TV. You're that electronics guy." Brian said.

"Yes, that's me. I'm also a very good friend of Peter." I told him. I
watched his face look at me in shock.

"I, I, I'm sorry..." The boy muttered as he sat down on the couch and put
his face in his hands. I can hear him start to cry.

"What are you sorry about Brian?" I asked him gently. I started to feel
sorry for him, but then I remembered what he had done to Peter.

"I didn't mean for this to happen...I was just being, stupid." Brian
said. "My dad was right." He mumbled.

"What was he right about?" Raymond asked. I saw the boy flinch a little.

"He always called me stupid. Stupid this, stupid that. I'm just stupid." He
said very dejectedly.

"I don't believe you're stupid Brian." Kevin spoke up. "You're here after
all, you could have left."

"So, what do I do now?" Brian asked all three of us.

"First off Brian, do you want Raymond here to represent you?" I asked him.

"Yeah, I just don't have any money. So...I guess..." Brian started to say.

"Ok, here is the deal Brian. You do everything that Raymond tells you to
do, answer his questions truthfully, and then I'll pay for his services." I
started to tell Brian. "Can you do that Brian?" I finished.

"Yeah, I don't really have much choice. I need your help." He barely
managed to whisper out the last sentence.

"Here's the other side of that Brian, if you try to fuck him over, or me,
or even Kevin here." I pointed to each of us. "You will be facing this all
by yourself."

Brian looked at each of us before saying anything. "Yeah, I need to do
this. I need to make this right."

"I'll be going now and leave you in the hands of Raymond." I said to
everyone.

Brian got up and stuck his hand out. "Thank you. I know you...I know you
don't like me, but, thank you." The boy said softly.

"Brian, I want you to understand this very clearly. Nobody's perfect, not
me, not Raymond there, and obviously not you. I believe it's what we do
after we fuck up that matters. Let me put it this way, if you hurt somebody
because of ignorance and you correct that behavior, I believe you should be
forgiven. But, if you hurt somebody just to show your dominance over
them...well, I don't even want to say what I'm thinking." I tried to
explain to Brian. "I'm hoping that you are just ignorant of your
behavior. That's why I'm going to take a chance with you."

Brian wiped his eyes.

"Ok, remember, listen to Raymond. He's a very smart lawyer." I told
Brian. "Keep me posted." I said to Raymond. "Let's go, my bodyguard." I
laughed when I saw Kevin flinch and roll his eyes.

"Like I haven't heard that one before!" Kevin laughed.

"Oh, one other thing Brian. That gentleman outside your door is to keep
people out, not to keep you in. You are free to go whenever you want, but
once you do step outside that door you are on your own. What I mean is your
safety is in your hands. Inside the suite, your safety is in our
hands. Consider him your friend and I'm sure everyone would like that." I
smiled at Brian, and then Kevin and I walked out the door.

As soon as we shut the door, I let out a big sigh of relief. "Fuck, I hate
drama. Seems like the last two months it's been all drama." I muttered
mostly to myself. "If Brian does leave the room, please keep an eye on
him." I told the bodyguard at the door.

"I'll do that Sir." The man said. It wasn't until I got into the elevator
that I realized that I didn't even ask him his name.

When we got back into the limo, I told the driver to head to the
hospital. I wanted to check on Bobby. We went straight up to the ICU as
soon as we got to the hospital. After getting the nurse to let us in we
went straight to Bobby's room. I was somewhat surprised when we walked in
to see a woman sitting next to Bobby's bed. I could tell it was Bobby's
mom; they both had the same facial features. She looked up at us; I could
tell she had been crying.

"You must be Mrs. Mercer." I said. "I'm..." I started say before she cut me
off.

"John Marshal." She said. "You look just the way Bobby described you." She
took a moment to wipe her eyes, then stood up and took a step towards
me. She stopped suddenly when Kevin stepped in to the room. "I just, I just
wanted to say thank you for saving my son." She collapsed into my arms and
I held onto her as she sobbed. "He was a good man once you know. Why did he
do this?" She sobbed harder. I helped her back into the chair.

"I don't know Mrs. Mercer. I guess some people are just bad." I said to
her.

"Please, don't call me Mrs. Mercer anymore. That was my husbands, or
soon-to-be ex-husband's name." She told me. "I'm going to go back to my
previous name, which is also Bobby's name, Young, Jane Young." She put her
head into her hands and started crying again. "What am I going to do now,
how my supposed to pay for this." She mumbled.

"Don't worry about Bobby's expenses." I told her. "I will take care of
everything." I knelt down and faced her. "I have some contacts; I'll get
you some help." I said.

Without a word, she wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me into a
tight hug. "Thank you." She whispered. "I'll try to repay you as soon as I
can."

"Don't worry about that now. We'll talk later." I whispered back to her.

Just then, Bobby moaned. His mom and I both looked at him. He moaned again.

"Oh my God, Bobby, can you hear me?" Jane asked Bobby quietly. "It's mommy
Bobby. Wake up dear." She said again.

I got up to get the doctor. Just as I opened the door, he walked in.

"Excuse me, please step back so I can examine Bobby." The doctor said
rather gruffly. We did as he asked us.

The doctor shined his light into Bobby's eyes. "Mmm... yes very nice." The
doctor muttered.

Bobby started to move his head and moaned some more. He tried to talk but
the breathing tube was still down his throat. I can see from where I was
standing that his eyes were wide open. Fortunately, his arms were tied down
so he could not thrash about with them.

"Calm down Bobby, you got a breathing tube down your throat." The doctor
said calmly. "Now I want you to help me in taking this out. Can you do
that?" I saw Bobby shake his head yes. "Good, all you have to do is relax
while I pull this out. Ok?" Bobby shook his head yes again. "Ok, here we
go." The doctor gently pulled the tube out of Bobby's throat.

As soon as the doctor finished pulling the breathing tube out Bobby started
gasping for breath. I saw Jane tense up, that I realized I was tensed up
to.

"It's ok. Just relax and breathe normally. You've been on this ventilator
for a while now. Your lungs aren't used to breathing on their own." The
doctor calmly said.

"Whaa...hahan?" Bobby croaked out.

"You were beaten up Bobby and you've been in a coma since then." The doctor
said.

"Ackkk...voice..." Bobby croaked out.

I guess the doctor understood Bobby better than us. "Here Bobby suck on
this ice chip. Your throat is a little dry and raw."

His mother got up and stood next to the bed. Bobby looked over at
her. "Mom..." He said with still a little croak in his voice.

Jane burst out sobbing again. "Oh Bobby..." She said as she hugged the boy.

I stood next to Bobby in his bed. He looked at me and after a short shocked
look, "John..." He said.

I tried to maintain my composure but I couldn't, I felt tears coming down
my face after realizing that he had recognized both his mom and me. I can
only mean to me that his brain was ok.

The doctor then asked that we leave the room so that Bobby could get some
more rest. His mom and I both said our goodbyes and we would see him
later. I talked Jane into letting me give her a ride home. I also told her
that I would have a security guard watching her house for her safety.

I had my driver take me straight home after dropping her off. I was
exhausted. I also felt that now I can rest easier. Brian's in good hands,
and so is Bobby.

I walked into the house and noticed right away the security alarm
off. Kevin right away wanted to search the house. He had me wait at the
door while he did that. He came back shortly with a smile on his face.

"It's all clear." Kevin said. Then he chuckled. "Don't be surprised what
you may find in your bedroom." He laughed again.

I quickly ran up the stairs and opened the door to my bedroom. There is
Peter sound asleep in my bed. He looked so angelic. For the second time
this morning, I felt tears coming to my eyes. I quickly got out of my
clothes and quietly climbed into bed with Peter.

As soon as I put my arms around the boy he mumbled, "Bobby's awake..." Then
he went back to sleep. I fell asleep soon after that.

Well that is it for this chapter. I know it's short and it's been a while
since I've published a chapter. There are several reasons for this. The
first one is that it was summer, and I'm not going to sit around inside the
house while it's nice outside. Sauvie Island, one of our local nude
beaches, was hard to resist. The second reason is that I was rather stumped
as to getting out of this mess with Bobby and Brian. The third reason for
taking so long is because we had a wonderful Indian summer through
September.

Now that the weather is starting to get cooler it's time to start writing
again. So expect to have a lot more sex in the next chapter. I'm going to
try to include everyone that I've written about.
