Prologue

This is Book 3 of this series. In Book 1, Mark looses his family but due to
some unseemly and untimely events, his life is changed and begins again when
Jimmy comes into his life. He ends up adopting him after his mother's death
and they start a new life together. In Book 2, Bryce comes into their lives
and things change yet again. I suggest you read Book 1 and 2 so you can
bring yourself up to date with the story.

The Day My Life Began Book 3

Changing Seasons

Chapter 1

Buzzzzzzzzzz, smack. I rolled over and shut that insipid alarm clock off. I
shook Bryce and said, "Come on love, time to rise and shine."

"Aww Dad," Bryce moaned. "I'm still tired."

"All right," I said as I reached down and rubbed his morning wood.

I knew it would be difficult getting Bryce out of bed this morning but there
was no way he and Jimmy were going to stay home last night. For the last
year, I had been cramming, taking classes on nights and weekends for my
Masters Degree so I could become a Physicians Assistant. I was finally able
to get back to this since the drunk wiped out my family and brought me
Jimmy. Sunday was graduation and the boys wanted to see me get my diploma. I
don't know who was happier, Bryce or Jimmy. Afterwards we went out for a
late dinner and Bryce crashed the minute his head hit the pillow.

I got out of bed to empty my bladder and I was soon joined by Bryce in the
bathroom doing the same thing. He looked at me and said, "Not funny Dad."

I finished my business and went back into the bedroom to get dressed saying,
"It got you up didn't it?"

I put my uniform on then went downstairs to have my first cup of coffee. I
poured one for Bryce then put my pens in my shirt pocket. Bryce came down
and I must admit he looked sharp in his uniform also.

Over the past year he had worked very hard to complete his EMT training so
he could gain as much experience out there on the street as he could before
he applied to the fire academy. He was ahead in school and he was beginning
to take classes at the local community college towards his degree in Fire
Sciences. He took a mouthful of coffee then said, "What about Jimmy Dad?"

"He'll be fine son," I said. "He's got his cell phone and I already know
what he's got planned for today.

Right after school let out Dave (a fellow EMS Supervisor) told me he was
leaving and was moving back to Florida because Mary's mother wasn't doing
well and needed help in caring for herself. We both know what this would
mean for the boy considering how very close they had become. Both boys spent
a very tearful weekend together before Davey left and Jimmy sulked around
the house for almost a month before I found something he was interested in
doing.

"Oh?" Bryce asked. "What is he doing today?"

I finished my first cup of coffee then said, "I got him enrolled in a
swimming program at the recreation center. He'll be there from 10 until 4."

"You think he'll be alright here by himself?" Bryce asked.

"Yes I do son," I said pouring my next cup into my travel mug. "He's 13 now
plus he knows what I expect of him. He's call me when he leaves the house
and when he returns but I'm sure a few other times during the day."

"I know Dad," he said looking at me. "He's still lost over Davey leaving."

"I know," I said picking up my keys then putting on my jacket. "That's going
to take some time. We'll just have to be here for him when he needs us."

Bryce finished his coffee and set the cup into the sink then followed me out
the door. We made the quick drive to the station then we went inside so
Bryce could see who he would be assigned with today. I walked into the
Captain's office and got the keys for my vehicle then looked at the daily
assignments. It was almost 6 and he wasn't in yet. I saw who Bryce was
teamed with and knew he had a seasoned veteran who could teach him a lot. I
went out and checked the Ram and was only slightly ticked that someone
didn't refuel it.

I filled it up then want back inside where I saw Bryce and someone in a
rather heated discussion. I walked over and saw Bryce and Bobby Maxwell were
going at it. I heard Bobby say, "You're not riding with me today. I'm not
here to be a babysitter."

Bryce looked at him and said, "I'm no baby and I'm just as trained as you
are."

"Trained yes, he fired back. "Experienced, no."

"What's going on," I said after hearing some of the conversation.

"Ah nothing Sir," Maxwell said trying to cover his ass.

"Is that right Moore?" I asked hoping Bryce would tell me the truth.

"No sir," he said. "This guy says I'm not riding with him because he's not a
babysitter."

"Is that so?" I said looking at Bobby. "Are you an officer where you make
the riding assignments?"

"I'm the senior EMT here Sir," Bobby started until I interrupted him."

"You're gonna try to pull that again?" I asked getting totally pissed with
his attitude.

He started to say something when I heard a voice shout, "Maxwell get your
ass in my office NOW!"

Bobby turned and headed towards the Captain's office then I looked at Bryce
and said, "Don't worry abut it son. He thinks his shit don't stink because
he's a chief in the Navy but here he's just another volunteer like you."

"I don't want people thinking I'm looking for favoritism Dad," Bryce said
starting to tear up.

"You're not son," I said. "The Captain makes the assignments here. Let me
tell you one more thing son, you're not the first person he's done this too
but I have a feeling you will be the last."

Bryce was about to say something when I heard the Captain shout, "Mark, can
you come in here for a minute?"

I turned and headed to the office and said, "What's up Cap?"

"Maxwell's suspended," he started saying. "I need to make a few calls to see
if I can get another EMT in so we can have this station manned. Can you take
Bryce with you in EMS 5 until I do?"

"Sure," I said. "I can always use another pair of hands."

It was now 6:45 and I hadn't signed on yet so I called dispatch and said,
"EMS 5 10-8 (on duty) at Station 5"

A voice replied saying, "10-4 EMS 5, 0647."

We walked out to the Ram and headed off for what might prove to be and
interesting day. Back at home Jimmy was waking up with his usual morning
hard on. He headed for the bathroom and let fly into the toilet the shook
the few remaining drops of piss of his dick. He stroked his tool a couple of
times and it came back to life as he thought of his boyfriend and lover
Davey.

Jimmy ran his hands around his cock and balls remembering how Davey used to
caress his body turning him onto a little firecracker ready to explode.
Turning around, Jimmy sat on the toilet and spread his legs so he could
continue playing with his balls as he started to jack himself. He felt his
balls start to draw up so he stuck his middle finger into his mouth wetting
it with his spit. Reaching between his legs he found his hole then inserted
his finger until he found his prostate. As soon as his finger made contact,
Jimmy began to shudder knowing he would soon blow his load.

He began stroking himself faster as he massaged his internal buzzer. After
several minutes he couldn't hold back any longer as his juices boiled over
and exploded from his dick. He closed his eyes and moaned saying, "Oh god
Davey, UNGH!"

Jimmy fired four blasts onto his chest and stomach then eased his finger
from his ass. He stood up and turned the shower on and proceeded to clean
himself.

As we were pulling out of the station, Bobby Maxwell came out and pointed at
Bryce giving him the finger. I pulled up beside him and he shouted, "I'll
get you Moore."

I put the Ram in park and said, "You'll not threaten any member of this or
any other station."

"That shit just got me suspended," he said.

"No he didn't," I said looking right at him. "You did that yourself with
your holier than thou attitude. And just one more thing, if you ever
threaten my son again I will personally file criminal charges against you.
DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?"

He took a step backwards realizing he just pissed off the wrong person. "Yes
sir," Bobby said.

I looked at him and said, "My advice to you is to stay clear of Bryce and
me."

I got back into the Ram and headed out onto the street. I go to take a
mouthful of my coffee and then, "Ugh! Damn it, this stuff is cold."

I see the 7-11 at the corner then pull in to get some fresh coffee. We just
get back into the Ram when suddenly tones go off. A voice says, "Rescue 16,
second ambulance call, Courthouse Recreation Center, child down possible
broken leg, time 0703. Rescue 16, second ambulance call, Courthouse
Recreation Center, child down possible broken leg, time 0703."

I know with the traffic being what it was it would take them a good 15
minutes to get there even running lights and siren so I took the microphone
and said, "EMS 5 P. A. and Landstown, responding."

"10-4 EMS 5, 0704," the dispatcher said.

I got out onto the street and turned on my lights and siren. Bryce looked at
me and said, "My first call as an EMT, Dad."

I smiled at him and said, "Just remember your training son and you'll be
fine."

Two minutes later we were puling into the parking lot and there was a woman
motioning for us. Bryce grabbed the radio and said, "EMS 5 10-97 (on
location)."

I pulled over by the woman and left room for the ambulance to back in then
Bryce and I got our gear. We walked into the gym and saw a young boy lying
on the floor in quite a lot of pain holding his leg. Bryce walked over to
him and said, "Hi ya mate, I'm Bryce. Just try and relax and we're going to
take good care of you."

The boy seemed to relax a little but was still in obvious pain. I looked at
the bay and said, "What's you name son? I'm Mark and you've already met my
son here."

"T Timmy sir," he managed to get out.

I looked at the woman standing there and said, "Have his parents been
notified?"

"Yes they have and we have a medical release form on file for him," she
said.

"Good," I replied.

The city's recreation program is very good and the parents sign medical
releases so that in the event of an injury like this, we can start treating
immediately. Bryce looked at me and said, "How about we use some nitrous on
him Dad?"

"Good idea," I said.

Nitrous oxide is more commonly referred to as laughing gas. Once a person
gets some of that into their system, they don't really care about much of
anything else. Bryce had Timmy inhaling on the gas as I went down and looked
at his leg. I felt his lower leg and sure enough I could feel a tib/fib
fracture. I know it was going to have to be splinted and the gas just wasn't
going to be enough to keep his pain lever down to where I could do this
without his screaming his head off. I looked at Bryce and said, "Get me an
IV set up of normal saline. I'm going to need to medicate him before we
splint this leg."

I could hear the siren of Rescue 16 getting louder so it was good that I was
going to have some more hands. I got the IV from Bryce when Timmy said, "Do
I have to have a needle?"

I looked at him and said, "Yeah son, you do but only a small one. Think you
can be a big boy?"

By now the gas was taking a good hold on him and he said through the
giggles, "Yes sir, hahaha. I hahaha will be a good boy hahaha for you."

He was really laughing so Bryce came around to hold his arm so I could start
the IV. I put the tourniquet around his arm and saw a real good vein. I
nodded to Bryce that I was ready to stick him then said to Timmy, "OK son,
big stick now. Please don't move."

I made my initial stick then slid the catheter into his vein. He was
laughing so much he didn't flinch. Bryce handed me the IV tubing and I
hooked him up. I removed the band and started the saline going in.

The crew from 16 was here and Bryce said, "We're going to need your traction
splint."

The EMT from the crew went back out and got it when the Paramedic said,
"Have you medicated him yet?"

I shook my head no saying, "I wanted you guys here first so we could do it
quickly. The boy is on nitrous as you can probably tell but that's not going
to be enough."

"I agree," the Paramedic said. "How much do you think he weighs?"

Bryce looked up and said, "I'd guess about 35 kilos."

We have to take weights and convert them to kilos to properly figure doses
of medication. The Paramedic said, "OK, 50 mg Demerol?"

I nodded my head and said, "That should be good."

The EMT arrived with the splint and I got it positioned and attached around
his hips. I looked at Timmy and said, "We're going to give you some medicine
in this tube here then I'm going to have to splint you leg. Bryce is going
to hold you by your shoulders and this other man is going to hold your other
leg. I know it is going to hurt so it's OK if you scream. All right?"

He got a little worried but said, "Ok sir, hahaha."

The Paramedic gave him the Demerol and his eyes got glassy. I slipped the
bottom of the splint into position then attached it to his foot. Once this
was done I began to tighten it until the bones were properly aligned. Timmy
screamed when I did this but then went quiet when I stopped pulling. Bryce
looked at him and checked his vitals then said, "You did good mate. These
guys here are going to get you to hospital now and they will get fixed up
good as new."

Timmy smiled and said, "Thanks Bryce. I think your accent is cool."

Bryce smiled at him as I started packing up the gear while he helped get
Timmy onto the stretcher. I did the report and handed it to the Paramedic
keeping a copy for my records. When everything was packed and loaded I took
the radio and said, "EMS 5 clear and available."

The dispatcher said, "10-4 EMS 5 0837."

Jimmy was finishing his breakfast then decided to leave early for the
recreation center. I pulled into Station 5 when my cell phone rang. I
answered it saying, "Yes Jimmy, what is it son?"

"Hi Dad," he said. "It's kinda boring around here with nothing to do. Can I
go over to the rec center and play until it's time to swim?"

"Sure son," I said. "Just be careful. I just finished up a call where a boy
fell and broke his leg."

"OK Dad," Jimmy said. "I will. See you this afternoon. Bye."

Jimmy gets his trunks and towel together then rides over to the recreation
center. He locks his bike up and heads inside to find a place where he can
store his things before the start of swimming. He goes into the locker room
and sees that they all have locks so he stores his things and locks it then
goes out into the gym. He walks around and looks at different activities
then sees some boys playing basketball and decides to join them. He walks
over and says, "Is there room for one more?"

They stop what they're doing and look at him. One boy says, "Sure, you can
be on our team. Take your shirt off and let's go."

Jimmy sheds his shirt and enjoys the game. About thirty minutes later there
is an announcement for those in the swimming program to get into their
trunks. Jimmy makes a basket then says, "Sorry guys, I gotta go. I'm in the
swimming program."

The boy that said he could play says, "Me too. See you guys later."

Jimmy looks at the boy and says, "Thanks for letting me play."

"No problem," he says. "By the way, my name is Jamie."

"Nice to meet you," Jimmy says. What grade are you in?"

"Ninth," Jamie says. "Well, when school starts again. We just moved here
from Las Vegas."

"Vegas?" Jimmy says. "Wow, cool place."

"Yeah," Jamie says. "It's OK if you like all the gambling. We lived well off
the strip and it was pretty decent."

The boys went into the dressing room and Jimmy opened his locker and started
stripping. Jamie's locker ended up being two down so they just talked while
they changed. Jimmy is quietly taking in all of Jamie's personal attributes
while they are talking. Jimmy looks up as he drops his jeans and says, "Do
you have any brothers or sisters?"

Jamie drops his jeans and says, "Nope, it's just me and my Dad. He and Mom
got divorced about five years ago. Dad worked for the city there but they
had a cut back and he got laid off."

"Sorry to hear that dude," Jimmy says. "It's just me and my Dad and my older
brother so I know what it's like without a mom. Mine died a little over a
year ago and Mark adopted me."

"That's really cool," Jamie said. "I mean about you being adopted, not your
mom dying. I'm really sorry about that."

"Thanks," Jimmy says dropping his underwear. "What does your Dad do?"

"He's a fireman," Jamie says as he drops his boxers.

Both boys are standing there naked when Jimmy says, "Really, my Dad is a
Paramedic here for the city. Has you Dad thought of applying here?"

Jimmy reaches for his Speedos and looks Jamie over as Jamie says, "As a
matter of fact he has. That's why we're here. He starts work tomorrow."

Jimmy pulls up his trunks and says, "Cool. What station is he assigned to?"

"Station 5," Jamie replies as he slips his trunks on. "But I don't know how
long I'm going to be able to come here and swim."

"How come?" Jimmy asks as he puts all his clothes onto his locker and pins
the key insider his trunks.

"It's when my Dad is at work," Jamie said. "They work 24 on and 48 off. Dad
is going to need to find someone to look after me when he's working."

"Where do you live?" Jimmy asked.

"Over on Decker," Jamie replied

"Wait a minute," Jimmy said. "I can't believe this. You moved into my
brother's old foster family's place. You live right across the street from
me dude."

"Yeah and?" Jamie asks.

"And?" Jimmy says. "My Dad is home at night and works out of Station 5 too.
What if you could stay over on the nights your Dad is working. He and Bryce
are home by six-thirty and I have a cell phone so I always have a way to get
in touch with my Dad."

"That sounds pretty good," Jamie said as they walked into the pool area.
"I'll call my Dad during lunch and talk with him."

"I have a good idea," Jimmy says. "How about I call my Dad and see if you
guys can come over for dinner? I'll cook up a batch of spaghetti, sauce and
make some garlic bread."

"I think you better check with your Dad first dude," Jamie said as they
stepped under the shower to rinse off.

"Deal," Jimmy said.

The boys swam and played together all morning and at about eleven thirty,
the morning session ended. The boys went back into the dressing room and
stripped to dry off when Jimmy started giggling. Jamie looked at him and
said, "What's so funny dude?"

"I don't mean to stare Jamie," Jimmy said. "But I think you might need to
use the bathroom."

Jamie turned a little red then said, "Sorry Jimmy, but you might need to do
the same thing."

"Not really Jamie," Jimmy says giggling. "It happens every time I get out of
wet trunks. It even happens at home, I can't help it."

"It's OK," Jamie says. "Nice one though dude. I hope that didn't embarrass
you."

"Nah," Jimmy said. "I've seen others getting in the shower after physical
education. Your not bad yourself either."

They finished getting dressed then went outside then Jamie said, "Would you
like to come over and get something to eat and you can meet my Dad?"

"Sure," Jimmy said. "Let me call my Dad and let my Dad know and I'll ask him
about dinner too."

Jimmy called me and said, "Hi Dad. I met a cool gay at the rec and he has
invited me over for lunch before the afternoon swimming."

"Alright," I said. "Where does he live?"

"Well Dad," Jimmy said. "You're not going to believe this but he lives in
Bryce's old foster rents place. You know right across the street. His Dad is
a firefighter and is assigned to Station 5 and starts on Monday."

"Really," I said. "Sounds like you have a few friend, son."

"Yeah," Jimmy said. "Also I was thinking maybe we can invite them for dinner
tonight. I thought about spaghetti."

"All right son," I said. "I will let you handle the cooking tonight. Tell
your friend and his father they are invited to dinner about seven."

"Thanks Dad," Jimmy said. "I'll see you and Bryce when you get home."

I hung up and said, "Looks like Jimmy has made a new friend. A guy and his
son moved in across the street at your foster parent's old place."

Bryce looked up and said, "Hope they're better than the last people who
lived there."

"I think so," I said. "The man is a fireman and will be assigned to Station
5."

"Cool Dad," Bryce said.

"Hey Jamie," Jimmy said. "Everything is all set with my Dad. You're both
invited over to dinner and I can have lunch with you too."

To be continued.
