THE ODD JOB BOY

PROLOGUE (Chapter 0)



It's now twelve years since I fell in love, lost my virginity and lived
happily ever after.

Now there is a short story.

I was a silly sixteen year old at the time and broke, skint or busted to
quite honest. My home life wasn't brilliant and on the spur I decided to
whack some cards around the area 'Young man needs work', you know the sort
of thing. To cut a long story short that's how I met the partner I love and
live with today.

As our relationship developed a couple of school friends got involved and
this is about them too, long time friends and companions; Martin (who used
to be called little Martin) and Sean.

A couple of years after we all got together my love and I cooked up the
Anglo- Spanish Youth Fellowship Exchange which allows kids from Northern
Spain and Southern England to swop families as it were over long holiday
periods, we're not actually in it for the money although Martin and Sean
run it and make sure that it doesn't cost too much and it has even started
to make money recently, my partner looks after the rest. I would like to
think that many teenagers and some sub teens have enjoyed their experiences
and stays in their opposite number's family homes and in their country,
Viva Espana.

They say travel broadens the mind, it certainly broadened mine (amongst
other things).

To get away from the boring bit. The four of us met up for dinner the other
day and thought it would be a good idea to write down our first month or so
together, it was the period that sorted out our relationships and melded us
as a group.  Each of the four of us would write our piece as we saw it at
the time and when we were finished we'd all sit around and check it out.
We decided to give Peter pride of place because he started it all off

We toyed with the idea of dishing out the finished document to members of
the A-S. Youth Fellowship Exchange but thought better of it. Oringinally, I
wanted to call it Romeo and Juliet but Peter tells me the title's been
used, that's the trouble with Peter, he's such a smart tart.

I decided to call it the Odd Job Boy for reasons which will become
apparent. I hope you enjoy reading it, we certainly enjoyed doing it.  Read
on.
