The Pilot III

Shane and Robert's Life

Chapter 27

We stepped into the shower and hugged and kissed. I reach for the soap and
gently washed his body. When I was done I had him rinse off then he washed
me. We then washed each others hair then rinsed off and got ourselves dry.
We went back across the hall and got dressed. When we came out, Robert and
Aaron were cuddled together on the couch. We sat down beside them and Jeremy
slid onto my lap. He looked at Aaron and said, "That was the most beautiful
thing I've ever experienced."

Aaron smiled and said, "I know bro, it was for me too."

The phone rang and I quickly answered it so it wouldn't wake Dad. "Hello," I
said.

"Hello," Dad's voice said on the extension.

"Hehe," I heard Jake giggle. "I got you both I see. Hi Granddad, hi Uncle
Shane. How'd the adoption go?"

"Went great son," I said. "It's official and final. The twins are ours."

"WHOOPIE," Jake yelled into the receiver.

"Thanks son," Dad said.

"Ooo sorry Granddad," Jake said.

"That's OK son," Dad said. Is either of your Dads around?"

"Umm yeah Granddad," Jake said. "Can I talk with the boys?"

"Yes you may," Dad said. "But not until after I speak with John or Billy."

"OK Granddad," Jake said. "Here's John."

I hung up the extension until Dad got finished talking. "There's someone who
wants to talk with you guys," I said looking at Jeremy.

"Who," Jeremy asked.

"Hummm," I said. "Let me see."

"Jake," Aaron said smiling.

I just grinned at him as a voice said, "Aaron, Jeremy pick up, your sweetie
wants to talk with you."

Jeremy grabbed the handset as Aaron ran towards the kitchen. I looked at
Robert and said, "So how's it feel to be a Dad?"

He leaned against me as I wrapped my arms around him and said, "It feels
wonderful. Was there any problems with Jeremy's hole?"

"Surprisingly not," I said. "It was still open a little but that was it. How
was Aaron's?"

"A little red," Robert said. "But that was it."

"Wonderful," I said. "I just wonder how often these two horn dogs are going
to be in our bed."

Robert giggled and said, "I don't know, probably as much as we were in
Dad's."

"Oh god," I said rolling my eyes.

"What's the matter old man," Robert said. "Afraid you won't be able to keep
up with them?"

"Keep up with them," I said as I started to tickle him. "I'll show you."

"Hehehehehe," Robert giggled. "No fair baby, hehehehehe. Stop love or I'll
wet myself and it will be your fault because the couch is wet."

"Party pooper," I said as I stopped my assault on his ribs.

I saw Jeremy put the phone back into the base then come back over to me as
Aaron was sitting on Robert's lap. The boys looked at us and said, "Can Jake
spend the night tomorrow?"

Robert and I looked at each other then Robert said, "Why don't you spend the
might over there?" You've always had Jake here."

"Jeremy looked down and turned red then said, "Well, ah, it's because he
shares a room with Joey and they only have 3 bedrooms."

"OK but Jake has a king size bed and Joey has his own," I said drawing my
son closer to me.

"That's just it Dad," Aaron said looking at Robert. "Joey's in there and uh
well,"

"You three want to get close and you don't want Joey watching?" I asked.

"Un huh," Jeremy said softly.

I can understand where Jeremy was coming from. I didn't like making love to
Robert in front of John but we did have a fun time after John first made
love to Billy.

I kissed Jeremy and said, "We understand son and that's perfectly natural.
That is special and it's just for you guys only. You can have Jake spend the
night here."

Robert looked at Aaron and asked, "Do I sense that you want Jake to make
love to you both also?"

Aaron smiled and said, "Yes Dad, we do. You showed me how special it is. Now
don't get mad bro, but I had feelings in me I never had when you did it."

Jeremy went over to Aaron and said, "I'm not mad at all love. I had those
feelings when Dad made love with me. He showed me how to make love and I
think we will have them now when we do it again. I never knew how special it
could be before today."

"Me either," Aaron said hugging his brother. "I also didn't think it was
possible to love so many people the way we love our Dads and Jake."

Robert looked at the boys and said, "Now I want you two to always remember
this. Sex is not just about lust or pleasing yourself. Sex is about caring
and sharing with your partner. There have been times when Shane and I have
just wanted pure sex but we've always shown each other how much we love and
care for each other while we're doing it."

Jeremy looked at us then said, "I guess we have a lot to learn, don't we?"

I kissed the boys and said, "We had to learn the same way guys. Dad had this
talk with us like we are with you when we were about your age. He even did
this with John and Billy. We want you both to know that we love you and we
will answer any questions you have about anything. That's what Dads do. I
can still go to Granddad when I need help."

I saw Dad smile as came out of his room. He joined us on the couch, "Well,
how does it feel to have a son now?"

Robert and I hugged our sons then Robert said, "It is the greatest feeling
in the world Dad. Every time I hug Aaron I feel so at peace. It's like when
I hug you but a little different. I am glad I decided to adopt Aaron because
I don't ever want to be without him in my life."

Dad smiled, "Now you know why I adopted Shane. I got that same feeling when
I hugged him and I got that feeling the first time I hugged you to."

None of us felt like cooking so we ordered in Chinese then relaxed until it
was time for bed. Robert and I had company in our bed and it was the best
night's sleep the four of us ever had.

The next morning Robert went in the bathroom to pee as Aaron turned on the
shower. The twins quickly emptied their bladders then disappeared behind the
clear shower door.

Robert shaved then went out to get dressed for work. I used the toilet then
heard the shower stop and saw a hand snake out and grab towels. The twins
kissed me as they left the bathroom for their bedroom and clean clothes.

I followed the naked butts out of the bedroom then went into the kitchen to
get some coffee. After my first cup was fixed, I put two bowls out for the
boys' breakfast. The next thing we heard was them laughing and giggling as
they ran out into the kitchen. "No running in the house," Dad said. "Come on
and eat, it's getting late."

They sat down and ate although continuing to laugh and giggle. "What's got
into them?" Dad asked.

"I guess it's life now totally free of worry," I said. "It's nice to hear
the laughter."

Dad rolled his eyes as he chuckled, "I remember some of the antics when the
four of you were together."

"You weren't the perfect son Dad?" Jeremy asked smiling.

"Yeah, I was son," I said smiling.

POP!! "Hey," I said smiling looking at Dad. "What was that for?"

"Perfect son?" he questioned.

"Sure," I said.

"A perfect devil," Robert said as he set his coffee cup in the sink. "Come
on boys, time to go."

Robert kissed me as he walked by grabbing his briefcase. The twins were next
as Jeremy said giggling, "That's OK Dad, I still love you."

I was laughing as the three of them went out the door. "God, I love this
life."

At the District Attorney's office, Christine Mellon was going over her case
files when she saw she had the Maria Curtis case. She decided she would give
her one chance to avoid a trial and the lengthy prison sentence. She walked
down the hall to the DA's office and knocked on his door. "Come in," a voice
said.

"Morning boss," she said. "I was looking over my new cases and I have Maria
Curtis'. I want to offer her a deal."

"If you think you can get it, go for it," he said. "What are you looking
for?"

"I want to see the boy is cared for and his foster family is really there
for him," Christine said. "And I don't want to see him shuffled from foster
home to foster home.

"Is the kid happy there?" The DA asked.

"Yeah," she said. "He loves them and their little boy is happy he has a big
brother."

"OK," the DA said. "How much time you going to put on the table?"

"3 for the neglect and 15 for the abandonment to run concurrently plus
she'll lose her parental rights," she said. "She'll be out in 8 if she
agrees to recommend John Phillips adopts Jake in writing."

"It's lighter on the jail time than I would like but it serves justice," he
said. "Make the deal."

Christine went back to her office and called John at work. She called his
office, "John Phillips please, Christine Mellon with the DA's office
calling."

"Hi Christine," John said. "What's up?"

"Well I have a deal to propose to Maria Curtis," she said.

"If it will put her away until Jake is an adult I'm all for it," John said.

"Well that's it," she said. "But there's more."

"More?" John asked.

"Yes sir," Christine said. "I have a question for you. Would you be willing
to adopt Jake?"

"I'd love to," John said. "But do you think that's possible?"

"Sure," Christine said. "Why wouldn't it be?"

"Ah well," John started.

"Because Jake may be gay?" she said.

"No, ah," Jake stammered again.

"Or is it because you're gay John?" She asked.

"Yeah," John said.

"Look," she said. "I know the adoption laws prohibit gays from adopting and
personally I think it stinks. My younger brother is gay and he adopted a son
in Vermont and now lives in Broward County and he is a great father to him.
I see how your youngest adores you and Billy. As far as I know, you're not
gay, alright?"

"Thanks," John said. "But how can you pull that off?"

"If she accepts the deal," Christine started. "She will plead guilty and
receive 15 years in prison but will be out in 8 providing she signs over her
parental rights and recommends that you adopt Jake."

"Sounds good so far," John said. "But what about the adoption? Can that
Judge grant it?"

"Yes he can," Christine said. "I'll make that motion and her lawyer won't
object because his client will have already agreed to it."

"What about Linda Eggleston with DCFS?" John asked.

"She won't know about it until after the fact," she said. "She will find out
when I go to her office with a court order for his file. Then it will be
sealed by the court."

"I hope she doesn't get pissed at me and Billy," John said. "We're foster
parents and she could pull our license."

"Well," she said. "Let me see what happens when I go to pick up the file.
This all could be moot if Maria Curtis refuses the deal."

"Yeah, alright," John said. "Let me know what she says."

"Oh John," Christine said. "Do you know if Jake had any tangible property,
like savings bonds or anything from a grandparent who might have died?"

"Hummm," John said as he thought about her question. "I don't know
Christine. I'll talk with him this afternoon when he gets home from school.
Why are you asking that?"

"That is because any tangible property legally belongs to Jake," Christine
started. Right now that property is controlled by his parents but when Maria
Curtis' parental rights are removed; you, as his new parent, or a trustee
will hold that for Jake until his majority."

"Oh OK," John said. "I'll find out and let you know."

"I'll be in touch John," Christine said. "Bye."

Christine called Maria's lawyer and said she had a plea agreement for his
client. Christine laid everything out for him and said that all things
considered, it was a fair deal. She said she would like to meet with his
client in about an hour and he said he could be there.

Christine signed out of the office and drove to the county jail. It was
11:30 when Christine signed in and was escorted to the lawyer's room. When
she entered she saw Maria Curtis sitting cocky with her attorney. Christine
looked at Maria and said, "Has your attorney explained the terms of the
plea?"

"He has," she said. "And if I don't accept the deal?"

"You could be looking at 35 years like your husband was sentenced to,"
Christine replied.

"I think I'll get off," she said.

"Really," Christine said. "Do you really think so when I introduce testimony
from your husband's trial admitting the fact that Jake is your son?"

Maria's lawyer looked at her and said, "I think the ADA is offering you a
very good deal."

"What does it mean when you say I'll be out in 8?" Maria asked.

"It means that you'll be sentenced to 15 years with 7 suspended," Christine
said. "But you will do the remaining 8 years. When you get out, you will be
on probation for 3 additional years but if you stay out of trouble, you will
be totally free in 11 years. Your husband will still be in prison."

"Why would I want to give up my kid?" Maria asked.

Christine was getting pissed. "Lady, you've already lost him," Christine
said. "You will lose your parental rights, so why not give him a little
happiness in his life and a stable family."

"Ah what the hell," Maria said. "I'll take the deal."

"I have one more question," Christine said. "Is there any monetary property
in Jake's name?"

"Yeah," Maria said. "There is a small strong box on a shelf in the hall
closet. It has Savings Bonds in there. There are a lot of them. I would get
him one every week. There must be close to $25,000 worth in there. Plus
there is a trust fund my mother left for him. The key to the box is on my
key ring in my purse."

"I'll draw up the plea papers and bring them to your hearing," Christine
said.
