Recap of Chapter 6 of THE RUNAWAY AND THE DRAG QUEEN

GLENN

We finished and we spent most of the day just sitting and watching him
sleep. Mom stopped by after work to take us for a quick dinner. After
eating, I went upstairs to wish Xavier a good night before heading home to
get some sleep. Exhausted and upset, Mom did say I would have to return to
school the next day. She gave me some relaxing chamomile tea before
sending me off to bed. I tossed and turned before finally passing out due
to being stressed and over-tired.

THE RUNAWAY & THE DRAG QUEEN: CHAPTER SEVEN (7)

XAVIER

I woke to find doctors standing over me and yelling for this item or that
one. Every cell in my body hurt more than I ever thought possible. My
mind tried to recall exactly what happened and all I could see was Zach
Titian on top of me. His hands were balled into fists and flying every way
possible and I heard the sounds of bones breaking. With each impact, I
could feel my spirit slipping further away from my body. Just when I
thought I might actually die, I remember the sound of Mrs. Leavitt
screaming and then saw Zach fleeing the scene.

All I could feel now was numbness as a nurse gave me a shot of pain
reliever. My mind became hazy as I drifted off to sleep. Dreaming wasn't
easy but I managed to focus of Glenn and Jeff. Seeing the images of their
faces helped me relax and let the medical staff fix whatever was wrong with
me. In my mind, I could see my arm being put in a cast and my nose being
moved back into its proper position. A doctor ordered X-rays and an MRI to
be performed once they has stabilized my condition. Being heavily sedated,
there was little I could do to object or request company. Lord how I hoped
Jeff had been contacted and was waiting for me.

After what seemed like an eternity, I saw a flash of a hospital room and
even thought I heard Jeff and Glenn talking but, in my drug-induced state,
I wasn't sure of anything I was experiencing. Sleep came more easily and
felt so good that I stopped fighting it and let my body succumb. I'm sure
part of it was exhaustion from all my schoolwork but most of it was my
broken figure's need to heal itself. Hours later, I recall the hum of an
MRI machine and awoke to see my beautiful Glenn looking at me with concern
and love in his eyes. He kissed my cheek and I turned my head slowly to
see Jeff sitting with Roger on the arm of his chair. That vision caused me
to laugh but it hurt so badly I had to stop myself.

That evening, I heard the nurse shuttle everyone but Jeff out and she gave
me another pain shot before I fell asleep again. Waking in the morning, I
turned and saw Roger holding Jeff as they dozed in the empty bed next to
mine. It made me so happy to witness the way they looked and gave me a
reason to get better as soon as I could. Jeff had gone out of his way to
provide me a home and safety that I was glad he seemed to have found
someone to love. Glenn would be at school until around 3pm so I just
waited until the nurse came in to check on me. She smiled to see the two
men in the other bed.

"Which one is your father?" she asked innocently.

"The man with the brown hair is my uncle." I responded. "He took me in
when my parents were killed."

Nodding, she then asked, "Is the other his boyfriend?"

"No, he's one of my teachers. They just started dating." I said. "I do
hope they become more than just friends."

She checked my vitals and bandages before quietly leaving my room. No
sooner had the door closed, than Jeff opened his eyes to see me sitting
partly elevated and watching the two of them. He carefully slid out of
Roger's arms and came over to sit by me.

"How are you feeling?" he asked, with fear in his voice.

"I'm sore but I'll survive." I chuckled, wincing at the pain. "Did you
sleep alright?"

"Yes, Roger made certain that I rested to be ready to tend to you." Jeff
turned and smiled. "He definitely is someone I think I'll spend more time
being around."

We talked for a few moments when we heard Roger stirring. I turned to find
my teacher smiling at both of us and felt sure that he would be in Jeff's
life more now. He sat up and stretched before checking on me. When he was
sure I was okay, he left to get some breakfast for he and Jeff. Before he
could leave, my doctor came in to update my condition. My injuries had
been fixed as much as possible and would now just need time to finish
healing. He also said I had to remain for at least two or three more days
before they were sure it was safe for me to go home. Once I was released,
Jeff said he could arrange for a nursing service to watch over me at the
house.

The next couple of days were filled with more tests and a physical therapy
schedule being discussed. A social worker even helped to organize an
in-home nurses to work in 12-hour shifts while Jeff was at work. Roger and
Glenn got involved with every step and promised to be there to make sure
that I followed the doctor's orders. Once discharged, an ambulance drove
me home where one bedroom had been set up like a hospital room. I was
allowed to rest for two days before beginning my recovery regimen. Glenn
was there with schoolwork and to help the therapist with my exercises. I
had to take it slowly until my ribs had fully healed.

Thanks to my other teachers, I was able to not only catch up but keep up
with my classmates so my grades wouldn't suffer. I made great strides with
my recovery and, by the time summer arrived, I was walking and able to
dismiss the full-time nurses. Glenn made not attempt to do anything more
than hold me and make out. We held out on sex until the doctor gave me the
okay because we didn't want to interfere with my progress. I was anxiously
counting the days until Glenn and I could be intimate with each other
again.

JEFF

Roger has been a rock for me during this time. He held me overnight while
we kept vigil over Xavier. I know he really isn't my nephew but he has
come to mean so much to me that I can't picture my life without him.
Whenever a doctor came to speak with me, Roger sat there holding my hand
and consoling me when needed. Once they released Xavier, he even came over
to help tutor him so he could get his homework finished. Neither of us
wanted Xavier to fall behind so Roger and Glenn made sure they did whatever
they could to help. Glenn's mother even allowed him to sleep over a couple
of nights per week. I gather this arrangement eased her fears of him being
alone in their house. She also cooked and sent meals over so I wouldn't
have to be stressed out about feeding everyone.

The police have been keeping me informed about the investigation.
Apparently, the young man they arrested has been talking on the advice of
his parents and his lawyer. Zach revealed that Coach Iverson had, in fact,
told his players that Xavier needed to pay for the trouble he caused. Most
of the boys thought he was joking, so they simply ignored his suggestion.
It turned out that Zach had been denying a strong attraction to the Coach
and was willing to do whatever he asked. After interviewing several more
of the football players, the Coach was arrested for his role in the attack.
Parents at the school were shocked but supportive of Xavier and I and even
helped raise money to help with his recovery expenses. It was such a nice
gesture that I didn't bother telling them it was already covered.

The more Roger was around me, the stronger our attraction became. One
night after Xavier had a bad reaction to his therapy session, I was crying
in the kitchen when I felt two muscular arms encircle my waist. Warm
breath tickled my neck as Roger told me to go ahead and cry. I turned and
fell apart in his embrace. He kept holding me, rubbing my back and
speaking softly to me. It was close to ten on a Friday and I was way too
tired for my own good. Tenderly, Roger led me to my bedroom and sat me
down while removing my shoes. He made me lay down and covered me with an
afghan before turning to leave.

"Please don't go." I whispered, still gripping his hand. "Could you stay
until I fall asleep?"

Roger smiled, removed his shoes, and crawled behind me on the bed. I
pushed my back close to him and felt him pull the afghan over us. He
kissed my ear and neck and I soon drifted off to sleep. It had been so long
since anyone had shared my bed for more than a quick fuck but it felt so
right. The night flew by with no bad dreams. As the sun came streaming in
the window, I turned to find Roger watching me as I slept. Ignoring our
morning breath, we kissed and hugged until Glenn knocked on the door. He
wanted to let us know he had made coffee and cinnamon rolls.

"I like waking up this way." Roger cooed, as we sat up in bed.

Hugging him close, I replied, "So do I. Thank you for taking care of me."

We made our way downstairs after a short peek to find Xavier sleeping
comfortably. Glenn was putting the dirty dishes in the machine and had
everything set on the table. His mom was stopping by to check on all of us
so he made sure to earn his right to stay. It was sweet to realize how
much he really did care for Xavier. The rolls were homemade and dripping
with icing. They were delicious with the coffee he had made. We heard the
doorbell ring, and Glenn escorted his Mom in for a quick snack.

"Your son made some wonderful rolls." I said, complimenting Glenn. "Did
you teach him to bake?"

"No" she laughed. "My mother used to encourage him to learn so it's her
recipe."

We talked for a little before the buzzer from Xavier's room sounded. Glenn
was there before the rest of us and helped him get to the toilet. His mom
beamed with pride as I commented his wonderful manners. She smiled and
made sure that Xavier was fine before heading off to one of her two jobs.
After Glenn had taken care of Xavier's need, he fixed a tray with rolls and
milk for his breakfast. Roger and I left them alone and headed back to my
kitchen. It gave us a chance to talk about the last few weeks and what we
wanted to happen.

"I'm going to take you out for a nice evening." Roger said emphatically.
"You and I need some special alone time and so do the boys."

I could only nod as he kissed me. Saying he needed to get some clothes and
check on his cat, Roger headed out after visiting Xavier for a couple of
minutes. Once he was gone, I showered and headed to my office to catch up
on some projects that needed my attention. Glenn was working with Xavier
on his homework and would see to anything that might arise. I struggled
through the work that I had been putting on hold when the phone rang. The
lead detective was calling to let me know there was a preliminary court
date set if I wanted to attend. Contacting my lawyer, he recommended that
I be there to be certain to push for the accused to be kept in custody.

Roger called me later telling me to be ready and dressed about 7pm. He
gave me no idea where we might be going, but that was part of the surprise.
Glenn knocked on my door shortly before lunch to let me know he was making
Panini. I asked if he was able to stay for the night since Roger wanted to
take me out. He said he would ask his mom and make a nice dinner for the
two of them. About ten minutes later, he called me from the kitchen and I
found turkey and Swiss Panini served with chips and ice cream shakes.

Around five, I wrapped up my work and headed to my room to get ready for my
date. Stopping to check on Xavier, I found he and Glenn cuddled on his bed
sleeping in each other's arms. In my bathroom, I shaved and turned on the
steam shower while hanging up my clothes to allow them to become
unwrinkled. The hot water felt so relaxing as the concerns of the day
melted away with the dirt and grime. Finishing my shower, I dried off and
fixed my hair before applying some Polo Black cologne. Once dressed, I
headed to check on the boys and Glenn was awake. He whispered that his mom
planned on dropping by to share a homemade ravioli.

Roger showed up at ten to 7pm. He looked dashing in his dark blue suit
with a pale blue shirt and navy striped tie. Kissing me, he gave me a
large bouquet of peach roses. Glenn was there with me and took the flowers
after helping me put on my coat. Roger escorted me to a large black
Lincoln and opened my door before entering himself. Telling the driver we
were ready, he took my hand and gave me another tender kiss. Fifteen
minutes later, we pulled in front of the Park Grille restaurant and exited
to go eat our meal. It was wonderful just being alone with someone I was
truly beginning to love. We even shared a triple-chocolate dessert before
returning to the car. Thinking the evening was over, I was shocked when we
arrived at the Oriental Theater to see a revival of THE PHANTOM OF THE
OPERA. It was a great production and the perfect ending to a wonderful
evening, or so I thought.

We entered the car after the play, heading for what I thought was my home.
It turned out that Roger had made arrangements for a overnight nurse to
stay with Glenn and Xavier. The vehicle took a turn that I knew led
towards his house and turned to look at him. He just smiled and gripped my
hand firmly. We pulled up in front of a small bungalow and exited the
vehicle. Roger gave the driver a large tip and escorted me to his door.
Unlocking and opening it, he ushered me inside, removing and hanging up my
coat. He led me into a smartly decorated living room and started the gas
fireplace before telling me he would bring us some tea.

Roger headed to the kitchen and soon returned with a complete tea set and
cups. Kicking off our shoes, he poured two large mugs of a smooth
peppermint tea with honey. Wrapping his right arm around my shoulder, we
sat together watching the fire and kissing occasionally. I know the evening
was far from over and actually looked forward to waking up in bed with this
man. It just felt right to be here and I only hoped that I wasn't moving
too fast.
