Part 7

Jess answered the phone, talking as quietly as he could so as not to wake
Tyler. As he put it back onto the cradle Tyler spoke, "Who was that
Jess?"

"That was the undertaker champ. They wanted to know if we're going to
have a memorial service before the cremation or after it. I told them
that we would let them know."

"I think." Tyler paused briefly, "I think we should have a memorial
service before Jess, that way her friends from work can say goodbye too.
Then you and Chuck and David and me can take her ashes down to the river
and say our goodbyes too."

"You never cease to amaze me son!" Jess said as he got up to go fix them
some breakfast.

Later that morning, Jess called the undertaker back with their plans and
said that they would go to the house to find her a dress for the service.

Jess and Tyler went by Tyler's house to pick a dress that the boy thought
his mother would like. Once they had the dress and a pair of shoes,
Tyler went to the hall closet and got a small metal box from the back of
the bottom shelf.

"What's that Champ?" Jess asked.

"It's Mom's important papers, her insurance, the deed to the house and
some other important stuff she told me I should get if anything ever
happened to her. I guess that this is the time she was talking about."
he said, as he looked up at the man.

Jess took the box and put it in the bag with the clothes as they locked
up the house to leave. In the car, Jess took the metal box and put it
under the seat and they drove to the undertaker to drop off the dress and
make the final arrangements. They set the memorial service for the
following Wednesday evening and Tyler answered the questions for the
undertaker as best he could for the obituary to go into the newspaper.
Jess used the phone in the undertaker's office to call Chuck and see if
he and the boys wanted to join them for dinner. Chuck agreed to meet
them at the restaurant and Jess and Tyler left the undertaker's.

As they drove to the restaurant Jess had a thought. "Champ, do you have
a suit at your house?"

"Yeah, I do. Mom bought it for me last Easter, and new shoes too."

"Well then we had better swing back by there and get them before we go
meet Chuck , David and Josh."

At the house, Jess unlocked the door and let Tyler go to his room to get
the suit and shoes. Looking at the house he could see that it needed a
few repairs, but he noticed that there were two very large bedrooms, one
smaller one, a very large living room, a kitchen and a dining room, and a
full basement. He was off in another place when he heard Tyler calling
him. As he snapped back from his train of thought, he went to the
bedroom to see what Tyler needed.

"Jess, I can't find my white dress shirt and tie."

"Oh? Well, that's ok bud, we can get you a new one before the service."

"But I really want to wear that one, it's. it's the last time she'll get
to see me in it." Tyler said as he lowered his head, looking at the
floor.

Jess walked over and knelt before the boy, lifting his chin with his hand
and wiping away a tear from his cheek. "Listen Ty, we'll find the shirt
and the tie, that's not even a problem. But I'm going to tell you
something, you're mom sees you right now. She knows you're trying to
find the shirt and tie, and I'm sure that she'll be very happy with
whatever you wear. But you know what the most important thing is
Champ?" Tyler shook his head no. "The most important thing right now is
you! And if you don't feel like looking for the shirt and tie, we
won't. If you don't feel like going out to dinner we won't. But, and I
really mean this, if you want to sit here and cry you can and I'll sit
right here with you until you're ready to go."

Tyler's eyes glistened with the tears as they began to stream. Jess
wrapped him in his arms, picking him up and carrying him to the bed where
he sat down, holding the boy on his lap. Jess felt the deep wracking sobs
against his chest as Tyler cried. Jess caressed Tyler's hair as he spoke
softly, encouraging him to let go of his feelings. Just as Jess was
about to tell Tyler about the custody papers, the boy looked up at him
with his saddened face.

"Jess, please don't let them take me away from you! You're all the
family I have now!"

"Don't worry son, I'm here for you from now on, and so is Chuck and
David! You'll never be alone in this world, I promise you that!"

Tyler stood up and took Jess' hand. "Come on Dad, Chuck, David and Josh
are waiting for us."

Jess stood and followed the boy out of the house. As Jess locked the
door Tyler looked at him on the front porch, then stepped back a few
feet.

"You know Dad, this house needs a little work, but it would be big enough
for you and Chuck, David and me to all live in, and Josh too if he
doesn't go back home."

"You think so Champ?" Jess asked as he wondered if the boy was psychic.
"What about their house and our house, what would we do with them?"

"Well, we could sell them and put the money into college funds for David
and me to go to college on someday."

Jess ruffled the boy's hair. "Come on Champ, let's go meet our friends
and have some dinner."

They got into the car and drove to the restaurant.

As Jess and Tyler went into the school on Monday morning they ran into
David, Josh and Chuck. Chuck had brought Josh to register him for school
just in case he ended up being with them longer than just a couple of
weeks. David and Tyler headed for their classes as Jess walked Chuck and
Josh to the registration office. The receptionist handed Jess a message
card while Chuck told her what he and Josh were there for. Jess went to
a side office to use the phone and returned shortly smiling.

"Ok, you look like the cat that ate the canary, what's up?" Chuck asked.

"Oh, that was the social worker on Tyler's case. She's bringing the
paper work by this afternoon that will make the adoption official."

"Do you mean?" Chuck stopped.

"Yes," Jess smiled, "By Friday Tyler will be MY SON!"

"That's great news buddy!" Chuck exclaimed, restraining himself from
hugging his friend. Josh just looked at them both suspiciously.

"I have to get to class, good luck you too, I'll see you later." Jess
said as he left the office.

He nearly danced down the hall to his classroom. When he walked into the
room, he didn't even notice the thirty plus seventh graders waiting for
their teacher.

"Mr. Braun?" one of the students inquired. "Mr. Braun, are you ok?" he
asked again.

"What, oh, yeah Tommy, I'm fine. I just got some really great news. But
enough about me, we have art history to discuss, so let's all get our
textbooks out and get to it."

Jess had trouble concentrating on teaching all day long. At lunch, he
made it a point to sit with Tyler and David to eat his lunch. He was
busting to tell Tyler the good news, but didn't.

Jess' last class had just entered the classroom, and he looked up to see
Miss Shekel standing at the door. Jess told the class what to do, then
got up and walked to the door.

"Here are the papers Mr. Braun. Please keep in mind that the sooner I
get them back, the sooner the Judge can sign them and make everything
official. Have you and Tyler talked about keeping his last name or
taking yours?"

"Well, not really, but I will talk to him about it tonight at home. And I
can get the papers back to you tomorrow. I'll get a sub for my third
hour class and bring them to your office."

"That's fine, just remember, you have to have a notary witness your
signature before you bring them to me."

"Yes, we have a girl in the front office who is a notary, so that's
covered. I'll see you tomorrow then, and Thank you very much!"

Jess literally danced back into the classroom, much to the amusement of
the students inside. They began asking a hundred questions, but getting
answers to none of them. When he finally got them settled down again,
the bell was ringing to end the class period. Jess walked down to the
office to let them know to get a sub for him for the third hour and then
changed it to third and fourth hour for the next day. As he was coming
out of the office, he met David, Tyler and Josh.

"Do you boys want a ride home with Tyler and me today?" Jess asked,
"Maybe you and Josh could help Ty get his computer set up and working.
I'll fix some dinner and we'll call Chuck and have him come over too."

The boys agreed and the four of them headed for Jess' car.

At the house, Josh, David, and Tyler got busy setting up the computer in
the living room while Jess changed into more comfortable clothes and
called Chuck, telling him where the boys were and inviting him to come by
for dinner. Chuck said he would be there in half an hour and Jess hung
up the phone, then stepped into the living room to check on the boys.
They were just finishing setting it up and David was preparing to install
the game systems that he and Chuck had given Tyler for his birthday.
Jess went back into the kitchen, followed by Josh.

"Mr. Braun, can we talk about something?"

"Sure Josh, as long as you promise not to call me Mr. Braun when we're
not at school."

"Oh, ok. Well, I need to talk to somebody, and I can't talk to Uncle
Chuck. See, I have this problem, and I don't know what to do about it.."

"What sort of problem Josh?"

"How do I put it? I um. I need some advice about um. well it's sort of
about sex, sir."

"I see." Jess said as he got a roast out of the freezer. "Well, are you
sure you wouldn't rather be asking your uncle, or maybe your guidance
counselor at school?"

"Well, I'm sort of afraid to talk to my uncle about it, because I'm
afraid he will get mad and tell my dad, and that would cause a whole lot
of trouble."

"Ok, well, let's hear what the problem is then."

"I um. I, well, I don't know if I like boys or girls, sexually!"

"Oh, well I can see why that would give you cause for concern, but I
honestly don't think your uncle would get mad at you over it."

"Well, see, it's like this. I think I want to have sex with.with older
guys, like you and Uncle Chuck, and.um. my dad." Josh looked at the
floor. "I guess you think I'm a sick pervert or something." he
whispered.

Jess walked over to the boy, pulling out a chair as he motioned for him
to sit down then pulled out another chair and sat himself down in it.

"Josh, first of all, you are not a pervert. What ever you want to do,
sexually, is fine as long as it's not forcing someone into it. It may
not be legal, because our society says that some things are not
appropriate, but those people don't know what is in your heart. They
don't know what you feel, what you want. What would you say if I told
you that I know men who have sex with their own sons?"

"I would say that's awesome!" Josh answered.

"What if I told you that I know men who have sex with boys, younger than
you, who they are not related to?"

"Well, if they like each other, and like you said they are not forcing
them into it, I think it's cool too."

"Well, I think you just answered your own question."

"But, I think I like girls too. Isn't it creepy for a guy to like girls
and guys?"

"Not at all Josh, that's called bi-sexuality. That means they like
having sex with both. But the only way you are going to know for sure is
to try both, not at the same time, but try them both. That's the only
way you will know."

"Do you think Uncle Chuck would get upset if I asked him to. um."

"You might be surprised what your Uncle Chuck would say." Chuck said
from the kitchen door.

Josh blushed bright red as he realized his uncle had heard him. Chuck
walked over and put his arm over Josh's shoulder.

"You know Josh, this isn't the dark ages, and I love you just as much as
I love David. You are my brother`s youngest son, and I would never get
mad or upset by anything you ask me."

Jess got up from the chair and put his arm around Josh from the other
side. "Like I said Josh, I don't think your uncle would get mad!"

The two men pulled together, hugging Josh between them. At almost that
same moment, Tyler and David popped into the room. They ran over and
hugged Josh from the front at the same time as David looked up at him.

"Joshie, we really do love you! You're our family!" David said with a
grin.

"Yeah," Tyler added, "and if you're David's and Chuck's family, you're
Jess' and mine too!"

Josh looked as though he might start to cry as he wrapped his arms around
the two boys in front of him. Looking up and seeing the smiles on Chuck's
and Jess' faces, he looked back at the boys and said simply,
"Thank you!"

"Now Josh," Chuck said, "what was it that you wanted to ask me that was
causing you so much grief?"

"Well, could we go someplace else to talk about it? I don't want to ask
here, in front of everybody."

"Why don't you two go to the small bedroom and talk. I want to check out
what these two have done to the computer." Jess said.

Chuck and Josh went to the small bedroom and shut the door while Jess
went to the new computer in the living room. The boys happily showed him
how the new games worked, and David explained all of the features of the
different programs on the computer, as though Jess were a total novice.
When Josh and Chuck returned to the room, Jess told them that he had
forgotten all about putting the roast on and suggested that they order
in. Everyone seemed in agreement so they began to discuss what they were
going to order, and from where.

They made up their minds, Jess called in the order and the boys busied
themselves with the computer as Jess and Chuck went to the kitchen and
got out drinks for everyone. When they returned to the kitchen, Chuck
filled Jess in on Josh's big problem.

It seemed to him that his brother had been paying much more attention to
his older son, and very little to Josh, which was part of the reason Josh
had become a behavior problem at home, prompting his being with them
now. Jared, the older boy was into sports and hunting , the things
Chuck's brother loved to do, while Josh was more into computers and
music. Chuck knew that his brother had began having sex with the oldest
son when he was still little, but didn't know, until then, that he wasn't
doing the same things with Josh. That was Josh's big question, would he
help him to have sex with a man? Chuck told Jess that he had suggested
that they talk about it more at home, and that he might be surprised at
what he would learn.

Jess smiled at his friend. "So poor Josh was getting the short end of
things? Well, I think you and David can remedy that problem."

"Well, we can try, but you know, he's interested in you too." Chuck said
with a smirk.

"I think I would have to consult with someone else about that, but if
it's ok with Ty, I don't have any problems with it." Jess replied as the
doorbell indicated that the food had arrived.

Jess paid the delivery boy and they all sat down to eat dinner.

Once everyone had eaten, Chuck, David and Josh headed home as Tyler got
out his books and started on his homework. When he closed his books and
put them away he and Jess sat on the couch to watch a little TV until
time for bed.

"Champ, I need to ask you something important." Jess began talking. "You
don't have to answer me tonight, but I do need to know by the time we get
to school in the morning."

"Ok, what do you need to ask me?"

"Well, let's just say that if I could adopt you, what would you like for
your last name to be, Braun or Jackson?"

"Gee Jess, I don't know, is there some way I can keep my last name and
still have your last name?"

"Well, that would be up to you Champ, but either way, it wouldn't effect
how I feel about you."

"I know, how about Tyler Jackson Braun? Does that sound ok?"

"That sounds just fine son. So if I can arrange to really adopt you, is
that what you would like your name to be?"

"That would be so cool Jess!" Tyler exclaimed as he hugged him.

They watched the program that was on TV then went to bed. Within minutes
of Tyler snuggling up to Jess he was fast asleep. Jess looked at the
sleeping boy as he brushed his wayward hair back from his face.

"Tyler Jackson Braun. I think that's a beautiful name for a beautiful
boy." Jess whispered as he kissed the boy on the forehead, then lay his
head back onto the pillow and drifted off to sleep himself.

They got to the school the next morning and Tyler hugged Jess bye as he
ran to catch up to David and Josh. Inside the building Josh left the two
in front of their first classroom and headed off to the High School
hallway after telling them that he would see them at lunch time. They
entered their classroom to start their day of learning. The school day
went very smoothly until it came time for Tyler to go to his P.E. class.
He nearly sprinted into the locker room to dress out for class and was
headed out into the Gym when his P. E. teacher, Mr. Wiles, stopped him.

Jackson, I need you to go out to the work shed and help one of the
other boys clean it up. I have a pass for you in case another teacher
sees you in the halls."

Tyler took the hall pass and headed back through the building and out the
side door of the cafeteria to the work shed. As he neared the shed, he
could see the doors open and a few things sitting outside already. When
he got to where he could see in, he froze in his tracks. There, inside
the shed was Justin, moving things from inside the shed to the outside.
He had his shirt off and his skin glistened with sweat. As he set down
the items he was carrying he looked up to see Tyler standing there.

"Come on Tyler, we only have forty five minutes to get this done, and
just between us, I don't want to take that long, cause I've got other
plans."

Tyler moved nervously toward the shed and began moving things out as
Justin told him what to put where. Within minutes, Tyler noticed that
his shirt was becoming saturated with sweat so he stopped long enough to
take it off, then returned to the work. They were just putting the last
of the tools back into the shed when Tyler started to leave to go back to
the Gym, but Justin blocked his path as he pulled one of the two doors
shut.

"Wh.what are you doing Justin, we're done, so we need to head back to the
Gym."

"Well, I don't think we're quite done yet Jackson. You see, I've been
trying to get you alone for a while now, with no teachers or your
girlfriend David around to interfere."

"Interfere with what Justin?" Tyler asked nervously.

"Think about it Jackson. Remember a couple of weeks ago when you and
Carver were in the clearing in the woods? And that's not the first time
I've seen you two together either. Now I want some of that little ass of
yours, and I'm going to get it."

"Wha.what about Mr. Wiles, he might come out to check on us and then
you'll be in a lot of trouble!"

"What's the matter with you Jackson, don't you think Mr. Wiles knows all
about this? Who do you think helped me set this up? He gets me whoever
I want to fuck, and all I have to do for him is suck him off once in a
while. If you ask me, I've got a real sweet gig going. Now get those
pants down before I have to get rough with you!"

Tyler thought about the situation he was facing. It wasn't the fact that
he was going to get fucked, he could handle that part, but he didn't want
to be fucked against his will, and definitely not by Justin. It appeared
he just didn't have any options left as he slowly began to unfasten and
drop his pants. Justin got in behind him and opened his pants, letting
them fall to his knees as he took a can of motor oil down from one of the
shelves. He coated his cock with the oil, then set the can back onto the
shelf, putting one hand on Tyler's shoulder and pushing him forward so
that he was bent at the waist.

"I'm gonna' really enjoy this Jackson, whether you do or not!" Justin
said as he started moving up behind Tyler.

"I don't think you're going to be enjoying anything!" a voice said from
the open door.

Before Justin could focus his eyes to see who had spoken, a large meaty
hand had grabbed him by the back of his neck.

"Pull your pants up Tyler and wait outside for me."

Tyler quickly pulled up his pants, fastening them as he went and grabbing
his shirt as he left the shed.

"Now, Mr. Davis, you give me your word that you will leave Tyler and
David completely alone, and I'll forget that this little incident ever
happened, otherwise I will just beat the crap out of you right here and
now, and I'll turn your precious Mr. Wiles in to the law. So what's it
going to be?"

"You.you're going to get into a lot of trouble buddy. I don't know who
you are, but I will find out and I'll tell Mr. Wiles and you'll get it."

Tyler heard a sound like an over ripe melon being dropped on the floor,
followed by a groan of pain.

"What's it going to be Justin? More of that, or your word that you'll
leave Tyler and David and all the other kids alone. If you want to fuck
somebody, do it the right way, not against their will!"

Tyler heard Justin groan as he agreed to the terms that the stranger had
put forth.

Tyler watched the door of the shed nervously as he expected one of the
teachers to walk out of the shed. When his rescuer emerged from the shed
he couldn't believe his eyes. There, standing in the afternoon sun, was
Josh. He turned back to the open door and looked in at Justin once more
as he said, "Just remember, you fuck with my family, you fuck with me,
and David and Tyler are both MY family!"

Justin put his arm around Tyler's shoulder and they walked off toward the
cafeteria entrance.

Tyler looked up at Josh. "How did you happen to come out there?"

"I over heard Justin talking to Mr. Wiles when I went to the locker room
to get a book that I had forgotten this morning so I cut my last class to
make sure things didn't get out of control."
"If we weren't at school, I would kiss you Josh!" Tyler exclaimed as
they entered the building.

"Well, I don't think this is the time or the place, but I will take a
rain check on that. Now let's get you down to Jess' classroom so he can
get you home."

"Are you going to tell Jess what happened?"

"Not unless it happens again, but if he bothers you or David ever again,
just let me know, ok?"

Tyler smiled at Josh as he nodded his head.

"Did you really mean what you said back there, about family and all?"

"I sure did bro. You guys made it perfectly clear to me last night that
I was family, and family takes care of family!"

The two of them walked down the hall to Jess' classroom, getting to the
door just as the last bell rang. As they entered the room Jess looked
up.

"Where's David?" Jess asked

"He's coming, " Josh said, "I ran into Tyler on his way out of the Gym
and we walked on over here."

"Good, cause we are all meeting Chuck at the steak house."

"The steak house?" Tyler asked. "What are we celebrating?"

"You'll see when we get there, but I think it will make you very happy!"
Jess replied as David walked into the room.

They headed out to the parking lot and got into Jess' car, then drove
straight to the steak house. Chuck pulled in just as they were getting
out of the car.

Inside the steak house, Jess ordered steaks for everyone. As they were
finishing their meal Jess stood up as if to stretch, then picked up his
jacket and took a paper from the inside pocket.

"Tyler, David, Josh, Chuck, special events should always be shared with
family, and since you four are my family, I wanted to share this event
with you all."

Jess paused to look around the table at the four sets of eyes now glued
to him.

"I would like to make a toast, so let's all raise our glasses high in
honor of the most special event in my life. You see, two of us are
starting a new life. Tyler, would you stand up please?" Jess said as he
looked down at the boy sitting to his left. "Family, dear, dear family,
it gives me great pleasure to introduce to you my son, Tyler Jackson
Braun!" Jess said as he raised his glass high into the air.

Tyler's eyes got wide as everyone else at the table stood up and raised
their glasses, clinking them together as they all said the name in
unison.

"You mean it Jess?" Tyler asked, his voice trembling.

"Yes son, I really mean it. I went to the children's services office
today and there just happened to be a judge there who signed the papers.
It's official, you are now my son, provided you'll have me."

Tyler set his glass on the table and threw his arms around Jess' waist,
nearly knocking the glass of soda from Jess' hand in the process.
Looking up at Jess, the tears streaming down his face, Tyler said, "Of
course I'll have you Dad, you've just made me the happiest boy in the
whole world!"

The others crowded into Jess and Tyler, joining them in a group hug as
they all began to cry openly.

"Well, this is certainly a great day." Chuck said as they began to pull
away from one another. "Excuse me guys, I need to go to the restroom for
a minute." Chuck excused himself from the table.

When he returned a little sooner than Jess thought was an adequate time
for him to have gone to the restroom and back, Chuck sat down smiling.

"You know Jess, this means you're stuck with the kid from now on."

"Yeah Chuck, I know, of course if he becomes too much of a problem, I can
always take him and trade him in for a newer model." Jess laughed.

"Guys!" Tyler said, "That's not very nice." he pretended to pout.

"That's ok Tyler, if he gets tired of you being around, you can come
stay with me." Josh interjected.

"Oh, can't you just feel the love in the room?" Tyler asked
sarcastically, as he rolled his eyes, causing everyone to bust out in
laughter.

Just as their laughter was dropping off there was a lot of noise from the
direction of the kitchen as the ten or so waiters and waitresses came out
in a large group carrying a cake with a sparkler sticking out of the top
of it. They came straight over to their table, surrounding them as they
began singing "For he's the jolly good fellow." Within seconds, the
whole room was singing with them. The head waiter announced to the
entire room that Jess had just adopted Tyler. Everyone in the restaurant
began to applaud as they set the cake in the center of the table. Jess
looked over at Chuck who smiled back at him, nodding his head , as Jess
and Tyler took the knife together and cut into the cake, resulting in
more cheers and applause from the other customers.

They ate their cake and got up to leave. Jess asked the waiter for their
check. "I'm sorry sir, but it's already been taken care of." the young
waiter told him.

"By whom?" Jess asked.

"Um, the manager sir, he said that it was the least he could do
considering the circumstances and all."

"Huh?" Jess stammered, "The circumstances?"

"Yes sir, well, with the boy loosing his mother and then you taking him
to raise, Mr. Perry said that your dinner was on him tonight."

"Mr. Perry? Does he by chance have a son about my son's age?"

"Yes sir, and he said that that was how he knew you and Tyler, his boy is
on your football team."

Jess reached into his pocket and pulled out a twenty dollar bill. "This
is for you son, for being such a good waiter." Jess said as he handed the
bill to the young man.

In the parking lot, he asked Chuck if they wanted to come by the house
for a bit.

"I think that this night really belongs to the two of you buddy. Go home
and have a private celebration with your new son! We'll see you at the
memorial service tomorrow." Chuck said as he hugged his friend.
On the ride home, Tyler chattered a mile a minute as they drove. Once
inside the house, Tyler began stripping his clothes off, throwing them
here and there as he went down the hall toward the bedroom.
