Chapter 1



            Ryan stepped out of the airport jetway into the terminal at
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.  He had just flown across the country
from his home in Des Moines.  His brown eyes searched the faces of the
people lining the gate area waiting for people getting off the plane.  Very
quickly, Ryan found the eyes he'd been waiting almost two years to see in
person -- those of Gary, the 64 year old man from Seattle he'd been
conversing with online for all that time.  Their actually meeting seemed
improbable until it actually happened, for Ryan is almost 45 years Gary's
junior.  But the love they developed through countless online conversations
and late-night telephone calls was very real to them, no matter what the
rest of society thought.  So Ryan dutifully saved his money, and flew out
to Seattle to see Gary.

            Gary's weathered face and powder blue eyes melted when he saw
the boy he'd watched grow into a man step off the plane and hurry towards
him.  Gary scooped Ryan up into a huge hug and the two of them barely spoke
for the first ten minutes they were together, because they were both crying
so hard.

            "I love you, Ryan," Gary said, choking through his tears.

            "And I love you, Gary," Ryan said, kissing one of the tears
streaming down the older man's face.

            The two lovers walked down to the baggage claim area arm in
arm, ignoring the glances and pointed fingers from other passengers in the
terminal.  They gathered Ryan's suitcase from the carousel and went out to
Gary's car to begin the short drive to his ranch home in suburban Seattle.

            I suppose a little description at this point in the proceedings
wouldn't hurt.  Ryan is 19, as mentioned earlier.  He's 5'9", about 130
pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes.  Gary is 64, about 5'10", 155
pounds, with salt-and-pepper hair, and blue eyes.

            So anyway, back to our story.  Upon their arrival at Gary's
house, he and Ryan just sat and talked for quite a long time, finally
catching up on conversations they'd been waiting two years to have in
person.

            As the evening drew later, Gary popped a DVD into his player,
and the two lovers snuggled up next to each other to watch the movie,
Titanic, an older movie, but a classic love story just the same.  The two
men woke up in each other's arms, the end credits of the movie rolling.
Gary scooped Ryan into his arms and carried him off to bed, for their first
night together, after both had dreamed of it for a long time.



Okay, so that's it, short and sweet for the first chapter, just to set the
