THE WRITINGS OF PHALLIOS PART ONE

My name is Phallios.

I am the High Priest of the Temple of Priapus on the island of Erotikos.

Erotikos is populated solely by those who possesses the image of our God
between our legs, boys youths and men, and the women who carried and bore
us all live on the neighbouring island of Labios with the girls and maidens
whom they also bore and worship their female deity in whom we have little
interest and even less knowledge.  In between our two islands is the small
islet of Natos where all necessary interactions between our two tribes take
place and where we were all born.

This may seem a strange arrangement to those who live in more mixed
societies in the world and how and why it came about is almost lost in
legend but it has worked, and worked excellently well, for centuries.

High Priests are custodians of these legends.  I remember how my
predecessor recounted them to me and showed the scanty written material in
the sacred books in order that I may preserve and teach them and also hand
them down, in time, to my successor.

To give a brief summary in order that the reader may understand.  There was
a time when the tribes of males and females lived together upon the distant
mainland.  They lived in a strange social unit which was called a "family"
and men and women lived together and produced and raised children.  It is
even now a concept that fills all those to whom I must relate this with
amusement, relief and gratitude that they have been spared such a horror
and limitation upon their ability to worship Priapus in all his glory, and
the unnatural sexual condition that such an arrangement engendered beyond
the purely necessary need for the reproduction of the species.

For it is known of a truth that man is natural for man and women for women
and that they have so little in common in understanding and empathy outwith
their own sex.  No woman can understand the glorious joy of owning a Penis
or of the male orgasm.  They resent its power as the source of life and
have no understanding of the Holy Seed beyond its reproductive character.
They do not know how to fully pleasure a man because they are not men
(though some claimed that they received pleasure from men) a claim disputed
by some of our philosophers upon the grounds of design -- that the male
anus is the prefect shape to receive the male phallus and that what they
have is a poor substitute.

But I digress.

These "family" men in truth spent very little time with their women,
preferring the company of other men and of boys with whom they found much
more satisfaction.  Not only this, but in terms of religion, men worshipped
our Phallic God with fervent devotion whereas few women did and they
resented it because they had so little understanding.  They did not
understand why men had an inbuilt desire to share their seed with one
another and celebrate orgasmic joy with each other in the worship of our
God.  They began their own religion and eschewed the Temples of our God and
began to desecrate the Holy images of Phallus that were everywhere about.
There were many arguments, even violence and clearly things could not carry
on as they had done.

The High Priest of the time met with the High Priestess of the women and
cried out to her that for the sake of peace and stability that a solution
had to be found in order that civilisation should not be shattered.
Priapus had appeared to the High Priest in a dream and showed him His will
-- that the sexes should separate and live different lives and that those
who wished to truly serve him should leave the mainland and to found a new
society upon Erotikos.  There his religion would be preserved pure and
undefiled and the male mysteries and ecstasies would cleanse the minds and
souls of men.

The High Priestess had, it appeared, received a similar dream -- clearly
the god and goddess had agreed it between them in the heavens and knew it
would bring peace.  Men have fought wars and battles and done evil for
their own causes and beliefs and Empires have risen and fallen in chaos and
disagreement in the name of religion and indeed there were rumours of
danger coming from outside that could bring ruination in due course if
ruination had not by then already occurred from within.  The plan was duly
announced without major debate and those who answered the call to follow
this plan gathered themselves together and made their plans.

There were those of course, on both sides, that resisted -- some men did
not wish to lose their daughters and some women did not wish to lose their
sons, no matter what.  Also how was property to be shared out and new
societies and buildings and the means of life to be established?

To find out the full details you would have to read them (such as they are)
in the sacred books.  Suffice it to say that about half of the men and half
of the women followed their Priest and Priestess, also taking sons and
daughters with them.  Those early years cannot have been easy with all the
building and the setting up of a new society.  The establishment of Natos
as a necessary neutral ground for certain purposes appears to have made
things easier and the fact that this has continued unto this day bears
witness to the sacrifices and wisdom of our forefathers.

Here I sit in my chamber in the glorious Temple to Priapus they erected,
inheritor of all the High Priests that have gone before.  You, my future
reader, may wish to know how I got here and why I was chosen and what my
duties consist of, how our society on Erotikos is run and how it works in
its dealings with that of Labios.  You may also wish to know what happened
to those who did not obey the call of Priapus.  I will do my best to answer
those questions that I think you may ask as my duties allow.

But let me answer the last one first, it is also contained in the sacred
books.

They tell of ships appearing about a hundred years or so after the
foundation of the societies on these islands, laden with men and women,
boys and girls, crying out for aid in their distress.  They cried to be
allowed onto dry land and to be given shelter.

They were told to proceed to Natos and land there because that was neutral
ground and our sacred soil should not be contaminated by those who did not
have the symbol of our God between their legs.  They sounded most upset to
be refused immediate access but our army stood at the harbour with their
spears and shields so they had little choice but to comply.  A ship
containing the then High priest and the Council and some of our army sailed
with them to Natos where they anchored in the harbour along also with a
ship which had set sail from Labios with their High Priestess, Council and
female warriors.

The tale of woe soon came out when all were ashore.  The records state that
there were six ships that had made it to the islands, all that had managed
to escape from the pillage and slaughter of a barbarian invasion that had
descended on our ancestral lands.  There had been much slaughter rape and
pillage and many had been taken away to be slaves, Priapus knows where, and
an unknown fate.  These survivors had long been prepared to flee and knew
the story of the exodus and had their ships ready.  When the warning came
they gathered their possessions and barely sailed in time.  It was
fortunate that the invaders could not follow as they had invaded by land
and had no ships.

The High Priest stated that they would be accepted but only on the terms of
separation into the two societies and the High Priestess concurred.  Any
who rejected this would have to move on and seek their fortunes elsewhere.
Some, including several of the family units that had survived, chose to
sail on after provisioning. Others made the choice of the separation, often
those males who had kept the faith of Priapus and their sons usually chose
to go with their Fathers and join our society.

I am told that I am descended from this group but records are, alas
incomplete from that time and the keeping of them was sporadic and sloppy.
It seems that once the possibility of interbreeding had been avoided, I
will describe the details and methods at a later time, that many things
were not written down as they should have been.  This record keeping has
been much improved, I am glad to say and our citizens now know whom they
are actually related to, not that this affects their worship in any way.

Next I will describe, briefly, for no reader is likely to find it of much
interest in itself who loves and adores our God, Priapus.

Naturally no society can last without reproduction.  From the very
beginning this had been recognised and agreement reached between the two
tribes as to the method and the rites involved.  It is an unfortunate fact
of life, long bewailed by the philosophers, that men and women must join
together in order to produce new generations.  The reader can only imagine
and agree how distasteful is this necessity, but it is considered to be a
civic duty that must be performed and fortunately love of Priapus is so
strong that it does not lead to permanent aberrations in the character and
personality of our youths upon whom this task is laid.  Fortunately, the
Priests of Priapus and potential Novices are exempt from this to keep us
pure and undefiled and at the normal age of seven years I had already been
selected to be a Novice.  The Priestesses and their Novices are naturally
equally exempt.  That is not to say we have no children, it is to do with
the method by which they are produced.  Personally I would prefer that it
was all done by the same method, but Tradition is strong, and it enables us
to perform the necessary ceremonies of purification for those who must
undergo the horrible task of carnal insemination.

A youth who is not going to enter the Novices must undergo this civic
service from their sixteenth to their twenty first year, after which they
are forever exempted.  The same applies to the maidens except they may be
exempted earlier if they have produced one male and one female child by
that time.  They are considered to have brought balance and need make no
further efforts.  Of course in practice they may produce two boys before a
girl or the converse, and some may only ever produce children of one sex.
I gather from the High Priestess that they are instructed on ways of
improving the chances of one or another that I have no wish to understand
or try to explain.  For our part we have washings and anointings and
prayers with our youths that may or not assist but it is a holy thing to
do.  Naturally our first desire is for sons who will carry the image of our
God between their legs and therefore be raised in the ways and worship of
Him here on Erotikos.

The Priests and Priestesses meet six times a year on Natos and discuss
which of their citizens are eligible for the next rite.  Such rites are
held every two months and eligibility will depend upon various factors that
are shown in our mutual records.  All those who are known brothers and
sisters must be not matched with each other as this is known to be bad for
the race and is prohibited in any case by our Traditions and our Holy
religions.  The same is don't to ensure that there is no degree of kinship
closer than first cousins and even this is avoided where possible.  Also we
try to ensure that the "Mares" are not serviced by the same "Stallion" that
has already sired a child with them.

When the time comes, the selected youths come to the Temple for blessing.
They have been exempted from all worship activities in the previous week
that would have required them to bring forth their seed.  That is not to
say that they have not received seed and indeed our practice is to ensure
that they receive as much seed in mouth or anus during that week as they
can that they may be blessed and energised for this service to come.  They
stand naked before the Holy Phallus of Priapus and ask his blessing and
they are fucked by the priests and given their seed.  Their cocks and balls
are ritually washed and anointed (no priest ever denies the joy and
pleasure it gives them to so do and for the High Priest this has always
been a joy.)

Prayers and chants follow to invoke the blessings of Priapus then the
youths are covered in a white mantle and laurel wreaths are placed on their
heads and the priests lead them from the Temple to the waiting boats which
are to convey them to Natos, some six miles distant.  Upon arrival the
party of youths and priests disembarks at the quay and with music and
drums, process to the hill of Kumos where a large tent has been erected.
There are two entrances to the tent, one for the youths and one for the
maidens and their separate entourages.  The Priests then blow a horn as
they enter and as a sign to the procession from Labios that they may come
from the smaller tent in which they have been waiting.  As Natos is closer
to Labios, they always arrive first and must hide themselves.  It would not
be appropriate for them to see the beauty of our youths or for our youths
to see the surpassing ugliness and strange shaped bodies of the maidens and
I am sure that it must be enough of an ordeal to feel what they have to
feel.

A thick veil divides the two parties in which there are holes set,
decorated by images of Priapus our God, what decorations may be on the
other side I can only shudder to think.  Each hole has a number on it and
the priests tell the youth which hole they should stand before.  They are
naturally nervous if it is their first experience and do not know quite
what to expect although the priests have tried to explain things --
difficult I know when we have not had to do it that way ourselves to
completely preserve our purity.  There are so many priestly privileges and
this is one of them.

But again I digress.

Then image of our God between their legs must be roused for the ordeal to
come.  They need to be as they would be in worship, erect, hard and
pulsating with Phallic joy and lust although their erupting seed will not
be consumed as it usually would be, nor will that be brought about by the
hands, mouths and anuses of their fellow worshippers and their priests but
by something unknown to them behind the veil.

Priests who have been assigned to each youth gather by them.  The cloaks
are removed.  If there are any novices present they are also attended by
priests but do not have to stand in front of one of these holes.  They will
undergo a more familiar method of milking to bring their most Holy seed
forth.  Yet it is still to be used for the same purpose.

The only verbal exchanges between the two sides are the voices of the High
Priest and High Priestess in order to establish that all is ready.  Then
the prayers begin on our side in a low voice as it is sacrilege that the
other side should hear them and learn anything of our mysteries.  It is
possible to hear low voices from the other side but we shut them out and
concentrate on our own.

I, as High Priest, invoke the blessings of Priapus upon this necessary
sacrifice and intone a general prayer for fruitfulness and for more Sons of
Priapus to be created according to his Will.  I then go to the first youth
and kneel in front of him in humility, less to him as to the image of our
God between his legs which I have known from when he was seven years of
age.  I kiss it and reverence it and I gently hold his Holy Balls, the very
cradle of life in the palm of my hand.  I have known and tasted his
fruitfulness in the course of my worship duties and am now blessing and
stimulating them for their solemn and sacred duty even though it will make
him ritually unclean.  I kiss his Holy Cock and take it into my mouth where
it soon begins to rise with the lust that youth knows so well and my tongue
blesses the sacred head and shaft and when I taste the precum from his Holy
CockSlit I know he is ready.  I rise and move out of the way and he is led

they receive from the priests often produces that result.  Once they have
done so they may withdraw their cocks as soon as they can and are laid
gently to the ground by their attendant priests.  Of course some seepage
always remains but this may not be reverently consumed as would normally be

washing at the conclusion of the rite.

And so we come to the Novices.  They are often already erect by the sight

When all have made their sacrifices I ring a bell.  We wait whilst those on
the other side of the veil to withdraw and the sound of a bell from the
other tent indicates that it is now safe for us to leave.  The priests
place the cloaks back upon the youths and their wreaths are adjusted.  I
solemnly lead the procession outside, followed by the Novices and their
priestly ministrants and then the other youths and theirs.  We walk back
down to the harbour and board the ship which then sails as soon as it may.

Once out at sea the wine is brought and the youths and priests may drink
their fill.  Water is brought to bathe the youths bodies and remove unclean
traces and then they lie on the deck for the libation of Priapus when the
Priests cover their genitals with Holy streams of Piss.  This other gift of
Priapus washes away all physical impurity remaining but they remain
ritually impure, apart from the Novices of course.

As we dock back on the Holy soil of Erotikos we are greeted by cheering
crowds who have gathered to welcome the youths home.  It always delights
the heart to see their joy and support and the youths respond with waving
and smiles.  The shouts of "Hail Priapus!" fill the air and all feel
charged with joy.  It is still no doubt somewhat a mystery to the young
boys as to what has occurred, but they are excited nonetheless and know
something important has taken place.  Some of the youths may be their
mentors and lovers if they are old enough, but again I am in danger of
digressing, one of my worst faults, as my mind darts through everything
that I need to cover.

Priests and youths process to the Temple, followed by the crowds.  By this
time it is normally early evening and therefore a little cooler.  In front
of the temple there is a fountain and a pool with steps leading into it.
Naturally the fountain is shaped like the Phallus of our God and the water
that it sprays forth represents his cleansing Piss.  Junior Novices stand
in the pool awaiting the youths to bathe them into ritual purity.  I
remember when I myself had such a duty to perform but again I am in danger
of digressing and will cover that in due course.  Suffice it to say that
Junior Novices are boys between ten and thirteen years of age who have yet
to produce the Holy Semen in their first Cummings and still have the
smoothness of boys though their bodies are beginning to fill out a little
and the image of our God between their legs is beginning to grow.  They
have each been allocated a youth to cleanse and hold amphorae in their
hands ready to scoop the water up from the pool and pour it over their

The youths step down into the pool and stand by their allocated Junior
Novice then all gather around as they may with space naturally being
reserved for myself as High Priest and my brother priests who were

I pronounce another prayer, blessing the youths for their service and
rededicate their Sacred Cocks to normal and natural use then invite them
and the Juniors to follow the Priests and myself into the Temple.  We
process inside and make our way to the altar before the Holy Statue and the

Nothing can ever be certain and indeed one or two of the maidens may
miscarry.  In this sad event the records are amended accordingly.  It is
one of my duties, upon my return, to summon the youths and inform them if
their seed has been successful or not.  What a contrast to see the joy and
delight in their faces when it is in the affirmative and their
disappointment when it is in the negative.  Of course even in the
affirmative does not guarantee that they will ever see their child for
should it not have the image of our God between their legs, they will not
and will simply have to content themselves with the knowledge that they
have carried their seed unto a new generation.

When the maidens are coming to full term they are brought once again to
Natos.  One of my assistant High Priests goes out to wait the delivery or
sometimes I go out myself also if time allows.  Of course attendants and
male wet nurses also go so that male children may be received and nurtured.

The delivery is witnessed by High Priest or Assistant and High Priestess or
Assistant.  To save our natural abhorrence all we see is pair of legs
sticking out from behind a veil and lying on a couch and even these are
covered by a blanket.  But even this is at the last moment in that the
witnesses are not summoned until labour has begun.

Witnesses are always fully robed as are the midwives and head dresses are
also worn.  I will not describe in detail the birthing process nor the
cries and screams one hears from the maidens, there is a natural human
sympathy of course for their pains and travails as the midwives gather
round to perform their ministrations and we largely are unable to see what
they are doing, not that we would wish to.

But finally the child comes forth and the cord is cut.  The child is lifted
up by the midwives and shown to the witnesses.  All are interested in
seeing only one thing -- whether or not it has the image of our God between
its legs.

If it does not, and the witnesses have agreed that this is the case, the
midwife carries the baby through a curtain in the veil and presumably gives
it to its mother.  The records are duly noted and we try to hide our
obvious disappointment but we also recognise and hope that in due time it
will produce a male child or children of its own.

If it does, our rejoicing is great but we praise Priapus silently at this
stage as it is not fit to wail or crow audibly.  The records are noted and
the boy child is handed to one of our wet nurses who wrap him in clean
white linen and carry him out.  The midwife then goes behind the veil and
informs the mother and again we cannot help but feel her distress as well
as hear it.  It is doubtless cruel and yet it is necessary and neither side
can let their emotions get the better of them.  The same procedure occurs
for all the birthings that are due and as not all deliver at the same time
of course and it can be as much as week from the first to the last.

A ship is despatched to summon the Fathers of the boy and bring them to
Natos.  They always arrive flushed and excited with eager expectation,
still overcome by the news that they were given and the joy in their faces
is reward for them and all from Erotikos whom have been involved in the
process.

They are handed their new sons by the male wet nurses and the tender
bonding begins.  They are literally crying with joy and also some
trepidation at the responsibility that has now been placed upon them.  Now
is not the time for rite and ceremony and there are only informal and warm
congratulations and some instruction from the wet nurses about looking
after the boy's immediate needs.  The new fathers will have much help and
assistance in their task and that knowledge is often a comfort.

One thing that they must do before leaving Natos is to gave their son a
name.  They give this to me or an assistant and it is duly noted in our
records.  One thing I should state at this point is that I was not named
Phallios -- that is my Priestly name. He that was my father named me
Atrios, a name I bore until I became a full Priest of Priapus in my
eighteenth year of age.

And yes, I have also fathered a son and a daughter.  Of her I know nothing
beyond her lineage and in order to ensure she is never mated with my son by
accident.  It also means that my seed will be carried on by her and into
new generations.  My son, whom I also named Atrios after my father, is not
in our Priestly orders.  It would not have been right for me to have a say
in his selection, not that I detected any interest in him in becoming a
Priest to begin with and he is much happier learning medicine.

I know I still have much to describe. But the hour grows late and even High
Priests must sleep.  Tomorrow there are major ceremonies of initiation when
