Betrayed By A Friend

CHAPTER ONE

Manish and Jai were had been good friends since
childhood. Manish was a very honest, kind hearted and
a simple boy whereas Jai was a bit different from his
buddy. He was more on the aggressive side, was cunning
and not very simple. But, the characteristic in common
between the two friends was that they both were very
hard working.
Jai was very rich and Manish belonged to the middle
class of the society. But, this difference, which was
although very prominent, never came in between their
friendship. They both had been studying together from
the very beginning and had continued to do so till
they finished school.
After passing out, Manish joined a hotel management
college in India as he wanted to be career oriented
and stand on his feet as soon as he could, and hotel
management was quite a good option as he had a flair
for cooking and even catering etc.
Even his friend had the same desire, coincidentally,
and also because his father owned a hotel chain in
Australia. So, even Jai decided to study Hotel
Management, but he chose to study in Switzerland, as
he had money and also that is the Mecca of Hospitality
Industry.
Both the friends' bid farewell to each other as they
parted for their respective destinations. The course
was a Major in Hospitality Management and was for
three years plus practical training and internship.
The training was not very easy and simple as they
had thought, but it was a good experience and they
were focused and had a goal in mind. Studying in these
institutes gave them tremendous exposure and also
taught them the necessary skills hospitality
professionals should always know.
Manish and Jai completed their respective courses
and started hunting for jobs. Both of them had faired
well but getting a job in India was not easy, and not
even was getting a job abroad. Jai told his father and
he made him join one of his own hotels as a manager on
the condition that he would work hard and work as if
its his duty towards the hotel and not like as if he
is the owner's son. Jai promised his father and began
a fruitful career in Australia.
On the other hand, Manish was facing lot of
difficulties in getting a decent job. So, disappointed
with what had happened, he ended up working in a
coffee bar as a waiter, as he could not get any job in
a good hotel because he had had no experience and also
because he had had no influence of a powerful person.
He continued the job for about six months, and was
also promoted in the process, but the salary he earned
was too meager and they weren't any good tips either.
He was totally dejected and did not know what to do
and whom to ask help from, as it was his very own
decision to study hotel management and there was no
one whom he could blame. He knew that it was a joint
decision of him and his friend, who now was running
his father's hotel chain in Australia and hopefully
having a good time. So, he decided to call up Jai, who
now was in Australia and was looking after one of his
fathers hotels, and ask him for some advice and
guidance.
Manish did as he thought and called up his friend
and told him his problem. Jai was now well settled in
Australia and had made many friends, but unfortunately
he had fallen in bad company, which was completely
unknown to Manish; as they had not been talking
together much.
On his flight from Bombay to Sydney, Jai had met a
guy named Sahil, who was an Indian, born and brought
up in Australia. They both started talking in the
flight and later met many times in Sydney. Jai started
going around with Sahil and also met many of his
friends. Till about three months, everything was
normal, until the day Jai was confronted with the fact
that his friend -- Sahil and all his other buddies were
gay. They had been very close friends and Jai had been
helped a lot by Sahil in many ways. Jai had had a very
big fight with his father and he had stopped giving
him money for daily usage and Sahil began helping him
financially, thus making Jai indebted to him. When he
introduced Jai to all his other friends, he, at first
did not like them, but later was forced to be friends
with them as they all were financially helping him.
When Manish arrived, Jai met him and also
introduced him to his "new" friends. These boys,
actually ran a gay club, and by now, Jai was also a
partner with them and was responsible for getting new
waiters for the entertainment purposes in the gay
club; (Get my drift!!)
When Sahil & his friends met Manish, they all had
one common feeling. Manish, being such a handsome,
fair and tall guy who needed a job, fit in very well
as a waiter in their gay club. Now, the deal was that
how would he be instigated to join the club without
knowing about the "real" job. Jai was told by his
friends that he had to convince Manish not only to
join the club as a waiter, but also to enter into an
agreement with them for a minimum of three years,
salary being no problem.
Jai was indebted to Sahil & the other boys and so,
he had to betray his old friend and put him into a big
mess, although he did not want to, but was forced to.
The next day Jai decided to take Manish into
confidence and talk to him saying that he would get
him a good job in a club.
That evening, when Jai returned home, he didn't get
the chance to do so, as his friend was very tired and
so, they had an early dinner and went off to sleep,
thinking that he would get a better chance at
breakfast time the next day.
