Christopher Answers
Chapter 11
Principal Ed Jordan read the registered letter for the third time today.
His presence was being requested at a special fact-finding subcommittee
meeting of the school board.
'The purpose of the meeting is to investigate the recent disturbing and
potentially disruptive behavior of certain same-sex, student couplings at
the school, in addition, the contents of a Memo you wrote on a related
matter, dated September 3rd, will be reviewed'.
As a former teacher he found himself wanting to correct this run-on
sentence and suggest to the author that it be rewritten. That thought
passed quickly enough.
Ed Jordan knew the real reason for the meeting was to build a case for
his dismissal as Principal. Coach Walters warned him about the mission
that Elder John Watkins, Gary's father seemed to have embarked on to bring
him down. Ed heard about John Watkins and his immutable opposition to
liberal views before he accepted this job. Ed realized that 'heroic'
stances would not serve him well. At the same time his job as Principal
is to provide a safe and effective learning environment for *all* his
students.
===========================================
He thought back to September 3rd and the reason he wrote the Memo now
under scrutiny. It basically stated that starting today, there would be
zero tolerance for any form of student harassment of other students. It
specifically mentioned 'gay bashing' which he knew prior to coming to this
school was not being punished. The fact that is was largely ignored by the
faculty was tacit approval for those students to continue it.
On his very first day he had to deal with a group of four students who
had cornered another and moved the 'discussion' into the boys lavatory. He
was alerted to the situation by a boy who ran up to him in the hallway and
excitedly expressed concern for the well-being of 'his friend'.
Ed Jordan had most of his teaching experience in the tough New York City
School System. There wasn't much he hadn't already seen and was prepared
for what he might encounter upon entering the lavatory. The 'guard' at the
door was watching the boys instead of looking for teachers and sounding an
alert. Ed brushed past the startled boy and straight toward the
unsuspecting threesome. The boys each had their pants down to their knees
with their victim kneeling in the middle. He had one cock in his mouth as
the other two stabbed at each ear.
"That's it cocksucker, take it all down your faggot throat."
"Make him beg for it Billy, don't let the little fag up until he begs
for it."
The guard finally recovered enough to yell, "Teacher!" In a matter
of milliseconds, pants were pulled up and the sounds of buckles clanging
together replaced the taunts being directed to the boy on his knees.
"All of you boys, follow me, time for us to get better acquainted."
===========================================
He might have been able to get away with the Memo except for his active
defense of the two teachers suspected of being gay, who were ultimately
dismissed. Ed was like a voice crying out in the wilderness. The other
faculty members chose not to take sides.
Ed suspected that he would probably be alone in his fight also. Doug
Walters, the coach, might speak up on his behalf. He seemed to be quite
upset with Elder John Watkins. Doug had spoken to him earlier about the
strong arm tactics he used seeking to deny Justin and Christopher access
to the locker room following the game on Saturday. Elder John had called
him on Friday night and was literally quoting directly from the Bible about
the sins of homosexuality. He had apparently recruited a number of other
parents to call and also voice their disapproval. His son Gary organized
the team into shunning Justin. Coach said he was ecstatic when Justin
carried the team to victory on his shoulders. He decided to just ask the
boys if they would skip the locker room instead of telling them that they
were banned. He said that night he thought about what he did and was
frankly not very proud of himself. He asked Ed about future practices
and games. Ed said that Justin and Christopher were not to be barred and
to tell Elder John that if he had a problem, he should call him.
The Coach seemed happy with his decision.
===========================================
Gary slowly got to his feet but couldn't get himself to look his
classmates in the eyes. Before Justin had a chance to ask him, Gary
confessed to having made the phone calls to Dave and Tom's fathers. He
didn't try to avoid responsibility but only mentioned that his Dad told
him what to say.
He managed to almost look at Craig directly and said, "When you told me
about Dave's attempted suicide, I suddenly realized the impact of what I
had done. Everything I did for the rest of the day was an attempt to keep
those phone calls a secret. When Tim saw me in the hallway and said he
wanted to get together again, I had to find a way to keep our relationship
a secret also.
"The fact is that I have been fighting my homosexuality as long as I can
remember. My Dad is very religious and thinks that all gays are doomed to
Hell's fire. I believe... er.. believed him until just a few minutes ago.
I'm not so sure now that he has everything right about that. I see the
pure love that you... Chris and Justin have for each other. It makes me
wonder why God would allow that to happen and then commit the two of you
to eternal damnation."
"When I was in the back of the movie theater, I saw the way Tom and Dave
kissed each other. I saw you and Chris touching and it made me so lonely.
I wished that I could be there with you and feel the same things you were
feeling. I don't even remember pulling out my cock and getting off. I
was consumed by lust and had no choice."
"When Tim shined his flashlight on me, I was in shock. The fear of
discovery was too great but I loved it when he kneeled down and sucked on
the tip of my cock. I panicked when I realized how much I was enjoying
this act of male love especially since I knew it was wrong. I bolted out
of there and went straight home to read the Bible. I had to get right
with God and my Dad."
"And Tim.... sweet Timmy... I never meant to harm him. I am so screwed
up ... in my mind, I actually felt that God was directing me. Tim got
caught up in my fantasy. When I saw him in school this morning I fell in
love with him. In my mind I was doing all kinds of things to him ....
shameful things ..... he has the cutest little bottom and I wanted to feel
it, touch it, touch him. I know he will probably never want to even look
at me again. I am so ashamed, so very, very ashamed."
Justin, Chris and Craig all this time hadn't said a word. Gary was
purging himself. All they could do was just listen. Finally Justin told
Gary that Tim feels the same way about him, but it is best that they stay
apart for a while. Justin went on to say that he needs more proof that
what Gary said is not some kind of ploy.
"I must be getting soft. If this would have happened on Thursday,
before Chris and me got together, you wouldn't have been able to tell us
this story because you'd still be unconscious. The only reason we came
over here to talk to you is because Tim wanted it. I personally don't
understand why he is so willing to forgive you. You've done some things
that are going to take me a long time to forgive."
"So where do we go from here, I just don't know," Justin said. "It
would make me feel better if Tim came over here and punched your lights
out. I know that's not going to happen though. In order for you to get
right with me, you're going to have to get right with all my friends that
you've harmed. For my part, I won't accept your apology until Chris,
Tom, Dave and Tim receive and accept your apology. I'm just a simple guy,
I see things in black and white. You need some real professional help to
work through this.
"Here are your car keys. I want you out of my sight. Go home, pray
to God or do whatever it is you need to do. I don't know what the others
are going to do but your homosexuality is your business. No one will hear
it about it from me. We have a baseball game tomorrow night and I'll be
there and I'll be in the locker room afterwards. If any of your friends
want to do anything about it, tell them to get in line because I'm tired
of playing it your way. About the only guy that could keep me out of
that locker room is Principal Jordan. I respect him after what he did
for Christopher and me on Friday and I consider him to be one of my
friends."
Gary took the keys and looked longingly back toward Craig's car where
Tim was sitting inside. He wanted so much to just talk to him and tell
him how he felt. Just before he stepped into his car, he looked at Justin
and said, "I will make everything right again, you'll see." He drove
toward his house but cut back off the road and drove up the same fire
trail. He stopped the car at the same spot and got out to retrieve Tim's
clothing. Before he could get back to his car, he sank to the ground and
cried. Tears streamed down his face and he buried his head in Tim's
shirt.
"Oh Dad, how am I ever going to make you see how wrong you are. How
am I ever going to make you love me."
===========================================
Justin sat up front with Craig, Christopher got in the back with Tim.
Tim was anxious to find out what happened and Christopher told him
everything that was said as they drove Tim back to his house. When Tim
heard the part where Gary said he loved him, his face beamed.
"I'll make sure you get these clothes back, Tim said to Craig. Tim
kissed Justin and Christopher on the cheek before getting out the car.
Just as he was about to walk up to his house, Craig called him over to
the window and said, "hey little guy, what am I, chopped liver?" He
pointed to a spot on his cheek, Tim gave him a quick peck, smiled, walked
to his front door and went inside.
"Lets drive over to the hospital, Craig said. We can get something
to eat and go up to see Dave. No doubt Tom will already be there and
we can talk about how to handle this whole 'Gary thing'. I agree with you
Justin, I think if anybody is going to find out about Gary being gay, it
should come from him. Lord knows there is enough of you gay guys to go
around. Half the school probably thinks that I'm gay too. Don't any of
you dare tell them otherwise. I'm going to get a lot of mileage out of
this before I'm finished. Girls like nothing better than thinking they can
turn a gay guy, straight. I'm going to really enjoy having them take
their best shot at me.
Justin and Christopher looked at each other and just laughed at the
unique sense of humor that Craig had. Justin thought to himself how much
better life would be if more people could view the world the way Craig
does. Straight people are afraid of gays, gay people are afraid of
straights. If only they would stop being afraid of each other and
just be themselves.
===========================================
Gary was laying on his bed when his Dad walked in.
"Find anything out at school today. I sent your Principal a letter
about appearing before our subcommittee. I want to confront him with
everything we can gather together. If all goes right, the school will be
looking for another Principal by the end of this week.
"I didn't hear anything, Dad but Dave Arnett tried to committ suicide
early Sunday morning. His Dad got really upset and threw him out of his
house. It probably wasn't a good idea to call his Father."
"Why do you say that? His Dad did the right thing! Too bad he didn't
succeed. It would have meant one less Homo to worry about. God knows
best though, he must have had his reasons, who am I to question his will."
Gary couldn't believe what he was hearing. His Dad was disappointed
that Dave didn't die!!
"You can't mean what you just said!! How can you hope that someone
would die. Dave Arnett is or .... was ... my friend. I've known him
since grade school. We played Little League Ball together. You know
him and his Father... how can you wish that he was dead."
"He chose his path, son, I didn't. He turned his back on both God
and his family. It would have been better that he died than live that
kind of life. The Bible says ..."
"STOP RIGHT THERE!!" Gary screamed. I don't want to hear one more
word about what the Bible says or what you THINK it says. YOU'RE WRONG,
JUST PLAIN WRONG!! I don't know why it took me this long to figure
that out."
Gary's mother heard all the commotion and ran down the hall into
his room. "What on earth is going on here, she asked."
"WRONG, I'll tell you what's wrong. It's wrong for a SON TO QUESTION
HIS FATHER. God speaks to me, he tells me what should be done to rid His
world of the HOMOSEXUAL VERMIN that seek to destroy the family unit.
"Well listen to this Dad, I'm homosexual. I've been a latent homosexual
for years. I only now realized it and I don't see what is so bad about one
person loving another person, even if they are the same sex.
Do you hear that Martha!! The devil has entered our house and taken up
residence in my only son.
I WANT YOU OUT OF THIS HOUSE, NOW!! GET OUT AND NEVER COME BACK!!!
YOU HAVE SHAMED YOUR MOTHER AND ME. YOU ARE AN ABOMINATION BEFORE THE
LORD!!!!
Martha Watkins looked at her husband and shook her head. "NO JOHN!
If anyone leaves this house it is going to be YOU!!"
Now fully enraged, John spun around and hit his wife with a hard slap
to the side of her head. Martha lost her balance and fell against the
bureau. NO WIFE talks to her husband that way. John grabbed her arm and
raised his high above his head to slap her again. As he made a downward
movement his arm suddenly stopped. Gary held it in a viselike grip and
yanked him away from his mother. He let go of his arm and Elder John,
lunged at his son in a righteous rage. Gary drew back and hit him,
WHACK!, right in the nose with his fist. Elder John fell to the carpet
like a sack of God's finest potatoes.
"Enough, dammit, enough" Gary said in an eerily calm voice. "Don't you
EVER raise your hand to me or my mother again, or before God as my witness,
I swear, I'll kill you!!
